Ep 166SFR 166: Keep The Thrill Of Buying...
Boom. What's going on everyone, this is Steve Larsen. This is Sales Funnel Radio - and today we are going to talk about JCPenney. I've spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today. And now I've left my nine-to-five to take the plunge and build my million dollar business. The real question is, how will I do it without VC funding or debt, completely from scratch? This podcast is here to give you the answer. Join me and follow along as I learn, apply and share marketing strategies to grow my online business using only today's best internet sales funnels. My name is Steve Larsen, and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio. What's up guys. Okay, first off this is probably one of my favorite case studies ever that I've read. This is from a Harvard one that I read, and it's really, really fascinating stuff. First of all, I would not consider myself a clothing connoisseur. But this is a very fascinating case study. I am not gonna be able to say dates or even names correctly, it's the lesson though. I remember when I read this the first time, I was sitting in a very tiny room, listening to 400 words a minute, reading through and going through… I was like, oh my gosh, this is a great lesson, right. And it completely applies to everything that's going on here. So here's the story… The story goes that the guy who... You know when Apple first started making their Genius Bar in the Apple Stores, right. There was a guy, right, that went through and he started thinking through this amazing Genius Bar and this amazing experience when you walk in and the design of it, the layout, the look of it, right. When you walk into an Apple Store, you know you're in an Apple Store, right? And, again, I can't remember his name, so if anyone remembers, awesome. I don't right now off the top of my head. But the guy, what he did is he went and created this Genius Bar and he created this awesome feel when you walk in there. It's very premium feel when you walk in. The Apple Store was launched, right, very small, and then they started replicating, replicating just, and blast them all over the place when they got the base test correct, right. Well, they started thinking to themselves, so why don't I keep building this out and put this around other areas. Other department stores started seeing what Apple is doing. It's about this time JCPenney came along and said, Hey what's up guy, do you wanna leave Apple, come on over here and design our stores instead? And so he left designing these Apple Stores, with the Genius Bars and that premium feel when you walk in, he left doing that and what he did instead was he came and he started doing designing and doing very similar for JCPenney. He moved into the JCPenney and he gutted tons and tons of stuff inside of there. Gutted it. He got rid of this and that - the normal shirt racks and the rings, things like that. I mean he got rid of, it literally looked like an Apple Store but with JCPenney clothing inside of it: #1: He completely redesigned the entire feel #2: He got rid of mailers He started saying things like, “Hey look, people know that we mark this up and then when they come in with a coupon they're actually buying it at the normal price it was anyways. Well instead, we know that customers are smart. We know the customers are smart. Why don't we just not do that? And instead of, right, let's say they get a shirt in, and it's 40 bucks they mark it up to, I don't know, 60, 70 dollars and then send out a coupon that brings it back down to 40 bucks, right.” That's like the classic Kohl's model; that's why there's always a deal going on, always clearance right now - there's always this going on. That's how they run all those department stores. So instead of sending mailers - they didn't send anything. He started telling the customers, and his message to the market was, “Look, customers, we know, you know what's going on. We know that you know that these mailers we send out are not really an extra 50% off, or 40% off or 30% off.” What, oh my gosh! Right. All they did was they marked it up like crazy - so then it seems like this huge discount. It's kinda like, my favorite thing, I went and I just grabbed a quick pair of like, swim shorts at Kohl's the other day and they're like, “You saved $97!” when I go and check out. They don't tell you how much you spent, they tell you how much you saved. That's very clever and I'm starting to do that in some of my sales funnels; right on the thank you page, “You saved blank, blank, blank” - instead of you spent this much. Like you still say that, but the message is, “You saved this, this, this.” And I was looking at them kinda funny. I'm like “I bought a pair of socks and a shirt, you're telling me I saved $147 today?” And I always kinda look at them and smile, and they know and they're like, “Thank you. Congratulations.” But it's the psychology behind what they're doing, right? Anyways, so this guy said, “Hey we're not gonna do that, we're no

Ep 165SFR 165: How To Sell Other People's Products...
Boom, what's up, it's Steve Larsen. This is Sales Funnel Radio, and today we're gonna talk about how to sell other people's products that you do not control. (Stephen is wearing a chicken suit) I've spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today, and now I've left my nine to five to take the plunge and build my million dollar business. The real question is, how will I do it without VC funding or debt, completely from scratch? This podcast is here to give you the answer. Join me and follow along as I learn, apply, and share marketing strategies to grow my online business using only today's best internet sales funnels. My name is Steve Larsen, and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio. All right, that was a little weird, and it was crazy hot. So anyways, I was gonna wear it for the entire episode, but I'm gonna take it off. Hey, so what's with the chicken suit? A little while ago Dana Derricks, if you do not know who he is, he is a copywriting master, he's a complete rockstar! Dana was brought in by Russell to help figure out other ways to sell Clickfunnels based on the different audiences that they had. Think about how cool that is! Okay, let me just go full circle... When he showed up, he gave me that chicken suit I ended up riding it home on my motorcycle. If you want to watch, it's on Funnel Hacker TV - it's pretty funny. That thing is hot though! Anyway, think about what Dana Derricks had to do? I digress, we're back to this "serious marketing" - you guys know me ;-) Okay, let’s think about what Dana Derricks had to do. He had to come in, and he had to figure out how to sell a product that was not his, okay? Now, why does this matter? It matters if you're in affiliate marketing, it matters in general... I really believe that you gotta be amazing at doing this as a whole - because if you can figure out how your competitors are selling their products, and figure out how you would sell their product better, you're already gonna get more customers than they have. So follow me here for a second, okay? I have had the incredible honor of being asked by Clickfunnels, by Russell, by Dave Woodward, to come in and do the Funnel Builder Secrets webinar. If you guys know the 90 minute $3 million session that Russell did, it was with the Funnel Builder Secrets webinar, and they've asked me to come in and be the pitch guy for it now - which is really, really exciting. I think I'm safe to announce that? They were puttin' it out on the affiliate group for Clickfunnels a bit ago, so I think I can say it? If not let me know and I'll take it down... I'm really, really excited about it. The reason I bring this up is, if you think through what Dana Derricks had to go through to write a script for a product that was not his own, right? How powerful that really is. Now follow me with this... The pattern that he has to go through is pretty fascinating, he has to put himself in the shoes of Russell. “How would I sell this if it was mine to sell? How would I sell this if it was something that I bled for to create and bring to life?” We all love our products, we love our businesses, and we'll stay with them for a long time... I got my whiteboard here 'cause I wanna share with you guys a few things 'cause it's the same thing I've had to go through this past little bit here. Funnel Builder Secrets is not my product, but I have to write a script. They're letting me rewrite the script with my stories and my things in it to help sell an offer that is not mine... and so I have to think it through. It's easy to do this when you are selling your own product because your stories tie into certain elements inside of the product; this story relates into why this product's in there, and this story ties into why that product's in there, all right? ... For example; "It was this full amount, price drop, get it today for this amount." - It makes more sense. I don't know if you guys have been watching, but Kaelin Poulin just went, and she rewrote some of the Funnel Hacks webinar doing this exact same thing with her audience. I'm going through this as well, right now. This is a fascinating thing to think through. If you guys have a product, by the way, I wouldn't begin in this manner. So two things here: Let's think about the timeline that Russell Brunson has gone through, along with other massive sellers on the internet, to get to this kind of space now, okay? #1: They figure out the one audience, I got a whiteboard here, they figure out the one audience, the Red Ocean, that would love to see their product. And they're like, "Sweet check it out! Here's Clickfunnels or whatever, here's this product or that product,” right? They have to write the script for that one singular Red Ocean. Most the time when people write a sales message, or they write anything that has to do with trying' to sell any product, one of the easiest ways to screw it up is to write it for multiple audiences. "Well, you know who could buy it? This person could

Ep 164SFR 164: Are Webinars Dead?
What's going on everyone? It's Steve Larson, and this is Sales Funnel Radio! And today, we are gonna talk about webinars. I've spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today. And now I've left my nine to five to take the plunge and build my million dollar business. The real question is how will I do it without VC funding or debt completely from scratch? This podcast is here to give you the answer. Join me and follow along as I learn, apply, and share marketing strategies to grow my online business. Using only today's best internet sales funnels. My name is Steve Larson and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio. What's up guys, hey, okay first of all... I know I got a rubber fish in my hand. We'll get to that in a second... this is called a hook ;-) Hey, I’m tired of the question, and I think this has been a bit of scare that has happened across the internet, as you guys know, (or if you haven't known), Google Chrome no longer allows auto-playing videos on page load. What that means is that for everyone who's like, "Hey are auto webinars dead?" I wanna address that question today, 'cause I'm getting it from a lot of my personal students, for coaching that I get from other people that I fulfill on - I get it a lot of places. I even see other gurus saying things like "Hey, webinars might be dying." Let's talk about this, okay... So two things here: #1: the answer's "no!" #2: I actually wanna drop in and I screenshotted my stats from our webinar over the last month. I grabbed it from the last month - simply so you can see what's been going on for us because the Chrome update has been out longer than a month. So what I'm gonna do is share with you guys. We just barely turned on ads for this funnel, we re-turned them on three weeks ago. Now if you don't know, I have several strategies for how I get traffic inside that funnel: The first way I get traffic is, I do a lot of Dream 100 stuff and that's actually where this fish is coming in - we've got 100 of these, it's a full-size fish, a full-size trout and we're shipping them out to people in the next two weeks or three weeks. What we're gonna do is we're inviting them to “fish-slap the crap out of the old ways!” Ha-ha get it? It's talkable, it's not expensive. Please do Dream 100. Anyway, so Dream 100, that's the first way. The second way is with affiliates. I treat Dream 100 and affiliate stuff in two separate strategies - they are not the same strategies. With Dream 100, they're existing influencers, they have big lists already, right. I go in, and I'm like "let's do a joint venture together, I'll split 50/50 with you." With affiliates, they may not have a big list yet, but they're willing to go promote, they're willing to push it out there, right, and I give them a percentage for going out and selling. To get the affiliate thing off the ground, I launched a program recently called affiliate outrage. It is a free program that teaches people how to make money as an affiliate, selling anybody's products, but all the examples I use in the training are for my products - so hopefully inadvertently they actually go and start promoting my products. I had about 15 or 16 other massive, massive experts come in and teach courses that were for free - normally you'd have to pay tens of thousands of dollars for this. For our Dream 100 strategy and we had like 20 or 30 people reach out to us a few weeks back and we've got our JVs setting up. We're doing all that now - it's a lot of fun. We also have the affiliate traffic, that's coming in. The third way I do it is publishing; I have a podcast show dedicated to my major products. So there's a podcast show for this very webinar funnel that I'm gonna share with you guys right now. Then number four is ads. Do you see how many things I went through before I got to ads! Ads are usually the thing that people run into first. I'm not saying not to - I'm just saying there are other ways to do it, okay. So what I'm gonna do is go in and show you guys exactly what we've been doing - and when I say "show," I mean I'm gonna talk about it. For those of you guys who are in iTunes right now, just know that I'm holding a 12-inch massive rubber fish! For those of you guys on youtube, you guys can see it. Anyway, awesome stuff okay. I have my phone here, I just took a picture of my screen about three minutes ago before I started this, and these are the actual live stats. Here's the thing you have to understand about webinars right now; "yes, chrome shut down the auto video playing thing," but did they really? The answer is "no," okay! That's gonna be maybe controversial depending on who you ask, but the reason for my answer is: In Clickfunnels there is a feature in the native video element where I can still have the video autoplay - I just can't have the sound autoplay. So the page can load and start playing the video - all they did was put a film over top of it that says, "Turns On The Sound." So I still have audio playing vi

Ep 163SFR 163: Easy Add-On Products...
Boom! What's going on everyone? It's Steve Larsen. This is Sales Funnel Radio, and today we're going to talk about some easy add-ons you can put to your products. I've spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today. And now I've left my nine-to-five to take the plunge and build my million-dollar business. The real question is, how will I do it without VC funding or debt completely from scratch? This podcast is here to give you the answer. Join me, and follow along as I learn, apply, and share marketing strategies to grow my online business using only today's best internet sales funnels. My name is Steve Larsen, and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio. What's up, guys? Hey, I don't know if you're like me, but my favorite part of going to movies a lot of times is the previews ahead of time. I remember we were driving to a movie, and I didn't want to go to it anymore because I knew we would just get there in time for the movie. This might be a little bit weird, but I love watching the previews. I love being sold. I love being sold. Being sold is so fun. There's a guy who came, and he walked through our front door, and he said, "Hey, I wanna give you some pest control ... or carpet cleaning... or this or that." I love the sales process. It's so fun. It's really really cool to see in action. Infomercials, oh my gosh. I can watch infomercials... matter of fact, I have done that many times. I just watch the infomercial for the sake of the infomercial because I don't want to watch whatever show is on. I've done that multiple times. I love the act of selling. In infomercials, though, you guys have seen, back, I don't know, several years ago, I would watch (definitely like six, seven, even eight years ago), I would watch these infomercials, and even just in general, you'd see these products that people would come out with. And you'd see these infomercial guys like, "You're gonna get this... and it's the CD set." And it's all these CDs. It's this course laid out in all these CDs, like 12 CDs. Now, spacing-wise, it could easily fit on one CD, but they know it looks bigger if it's on 12 so, "You're gonna get this 12-CD set!" And you're like, "Wow, that's crazy cool!" "You're also gonna get this workbook over here." "Wow, that's cool." "You're also gonna get the personal book "from the author as well, from the creator of the course. "They've also authored a book. "We're gonna give you that book." "Wow, that's cool!" "You're also gonna get this checklist." "Wow, that's cool." Right, and they're masters at creating offers. And even when it's like the ShamWow guy, right, I don't remember his name. ShamWow guy, right, "If you act in the next 15 minutes, "we're gonna give you two ShamWows for the price of one." What! "We're also gonna throw in four mini ones "in case you're ever in the car." What! Right, they're building an offer. That's an offer. The infomercial people are experts at creating these offers, and that's exactly what we do on the internet. We create these offers and put them all together. Well, my perception of what it took to create a product was like way up here. I mean, it was so big because I would see these guys. You know, and I'd see these guys, and they'd be creating, "You're gonna get this CD set. "You're gonna get the workbook. "You're gonna get the transcriptions. "You're gonna get this and this and this." And it was like, "Wow! "Gurus are telling me to go and actually create." (My phone's going off over there. No, alright. Sorry about that.)... But it was my perception that I would have to go and create these massive massive products. And it ended up becoming a block to me, right. I'd be like, "Man, these gurus, "they're saying the only way for me to get out there and actually go create success with this stuff" is for me to go and make, "I gotta have this CD course set. I gotta have the workbook. I gotta have this, I gotta have this, I gotta have this or this." If I'm doing some supplement, "I gotta be able to give this away. "And a workbook from," let's say it's a weight loss thing. "I gotta go interview these people, "and I gotta become an expert on weight loss. "And give them that workbook as well. "Plus the supplements, plus the formulator, "plus put together the packaging and the branding "and how much it's gonna fulfill. "And the shipping, right." My perception of what it took to actually create a product, and especially an add-on, was through the roof. It was crazy. It was through the roof. It was so challenging because these guys were so good at it that it actually ended up becoming a barrier, and I started believing that I needed to do it like that in order for me to actually become successful and build my own product. And so for the first few products that I put out, it was like that. I would go months, guys, months and months of time putting little info products together, then like a little CD, and a free plus shipping thing with something physical. And that's how I wo

Ep 162SFR 162: Scaling Buyers...
Boom, what's going on everyone. It's Steve Larsen - This is Sales Funnel Radio... And today we're gonna talk about how to acquire a mass of qualified customers. I've spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today. And now I've left my nine to five to take the plunge and build my million dollar business. The real question is, how will I do it without VC funding or debt, completely from scratch? This podcast is here to give you the answer. Join me and follow along as I learn, apply and share marketing strategies to grow my online business. Using only today's best internet sales funnels. My name is Steve Larsen and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio. What's up, guys? Hey, today, I'm actually going to toss in another recording from the Science of Selling Online Facebook group. I was reading from a book, showing them strategies from these various books. Not only how to acquire a mass of qualified customers, but when to acquire them. At what stage in your business it's important to do so and when is it not. When's the best time to actually go try and get a huge amount of customers? There is a time to do that and a time not to. You might be thinking, "Stephen that's stupid, why would you not just want tons of customers?" There's a lot of reasons why you should and why you shouldn't do that. In this episode, I'm actually gonna cut straight over to a Facebook live, but watch carefully because I'm using the very same strategy inside my business right now. I've created the main product for my business, so now that it's there, what front ends do I create to amass a huge list of qualified buyers, not just random people? Anyways hope you enjoy this, we'll cut over to the episode now. Talk to you guys later, bye... What's up. How's it going, everybody? Hope everyone is doing fantastic! I need to be asleep right now but... you know, some nights I just can't get relaxed. Yes, I wear glasses. I've had glasses and contacts since second grade. My eyes are terrible. I barely made it into the army - my eyes are so bad that I'm only a few points away from not being allowed to join... like isn't that funny? So anyway, yes I'm wearing my glasses right now. And I have been jumping on my tramp right there and listening to music and thinking a lot. I don't know why, but every once in a while, I just get in these zones where I just walk around, and I can tell that to everyone I kinda seem like a zombie - you know what I mean? My head's just spinning going through tons and tons of scenarios; it's fun. I absolutely love it. It’s like a Beautiful Mind, "vroo, vroo" all over the place. I wanted to share a lesson with you guys real quick - because it's actually something that I'm doing right now. It's something that I taught a solid six-seven months ago. And it's interesting; what's happened. *REPLYING TO FB COMMENTS* “What's up guys, how's it going Ross? "Like your glasses, the real you." "Yeah, yeah, right. I cannot wait to get LASIK... I was at the eye doctor a little while ago, and he told me that I have clinically large eyeballs. I was like, "Oh. It's not like I can do anything about it. Thanks for making me self-conscious for the rest of my life!" I want to share with you guys something that you need to understand. We talk all the time about going at the core of the value ladder, right! That is the place where you start your products. You start your business at the core of the actual value ladder. The reason why is because everything else kind of spiders out from there. What I want to do is - I want to tell you why. I wanna tell you why everything spiders away from the core of the value ladder... it doesn't have to do with creating the back ends. The market's gonna tell you what to do, all that because yes, yes, yes, yes, but another big reason has to do with one of the principals from the book, Ready, Fire, Aim. I was flying back home from speaking at an event in January, and I ended up doing a few Facebook lives in the airport, and one of them was about this very principal right here. It has more to do with the way the cash actually moves inside of the business. A little while ago, a customer was frustrated, and she came up to me, and she said "Hey, do I really need to go create products? Do I really need to go make..." Anyway, she was being whiny. And what I said to her was "Look, a customer is purchased regardless. You will buy a customer whether or not you want to. There's a cost to it." Most of the time when we think of average cart value and cost to acquire, those are the only two numbers that we really care about in a marketing funnel. However, cost to acquire we typically always assume means money. It actually can mean time as well. So what I want to do real quick is, I want to talk real fast about the realities of what it actually means to acquire a customer. And when it's best to go and... Let me step back. There's a thought; I keep trying to get it out for you guys, so you understand what I'm trying

Ep 161SFR 161: My Favorite Rollout Strategy...
Boom what's up guys it's Steve Larsen, and you're listening to Sales Funnel Radio, and today we're going to talk about how to roll out products. This is my favorite rollout strategy. I've spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today, and now I've left my 9 to 5 to take the plunge and build my million dollar business. The real question is, how will I do it without VC funding or debt? Completely from scratch. This podcast is here to give you the answer. Join me and follow along as I learn, apply and share marketing strategies to grow my online business. Using only today's best internet sales funnels. My name is Steve Larsen and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio. What's up, guys? Hey, I'm excited for today; I'm excited to be able to share with you some neat things that, frankly, I don't see many people doing. The first product I ever launched and put out the door was an utter failure - the thing was terrible, okay? But I didn't know that at the time. I spent inordinate amounts of time putting together the product. I thought my product was the best product ever -I was so excited! I was running towards it. In my mind, I was like this thing's going to change everything - this is going to be incredible. I was excited, and people would be like, "What are you doing? What do you spend all this time doing?" I'd be feeling a little smug about it like, "You don't know - just you wait and see!" There'd be people coming up to me and saying things like, "Larsen, what's up now? You doing that thing again? Alright, good luck with that..." I was actively seeking what I called, "My Shut Up Check." My shut up check"was something that I sought as fast as I could when I was launching. This was four years ago, and I hadn't perfected the rollout strategy that I want to talk with you guys about today... But what was interesting was I'd go build these things, I was looking for my shut up check. The shut up check was a concept I learned from a guy I was listening to six or seven years ago. The shut up check is the first check you get from your business. So when someone says, "Oh, you doing that thing again? Is that even gonna work?" You can pull it out that check and be like "Shut Up! It is working, here's the money." That's your shut up check. I hope that you've gotten your shut up check to throw in the naysayers faces a little bit? Not that we would ever do that... BUT TOTALLY DO IT ;-) What I wanna do real quick is share with you guys how I roll out my products. What ended up happening with that first one is, I spent eight months building it... and then when I finally launched it, and I put it out there... nobody bought it. And it's because nobody knew about it. It took three or four months before cash actually started coming on in, and I kind of abandoned it. Until I figured out better ways for traffic - and then I started making more money. But I don't want you to go through that, okay? I was in the middle of college, I was doing stuff with the Army, I was super busy. So for me to spend eight months of my time - we're talking late nights, early mornings - time I could have been with my family... And then, to not have it work - that was so mentally tasking it was ridiculous. I don't want you to go through that. So instead, I wanna share with you how I roll out my stuff. I have marketing books in bookshelves all over the place. I was reading this book, Positioning (It's written by Al Ries and Jake Trout) ... just kind of thumbing through it. Frankly, instead of reading front to cover, I'll thumb through and find chapters that look interesting, and I'll go learn something specific from it. Anyway, it's kind of cool, they say, “When you make a new product you must by default, position against the old product.” I thought “Hey, that's super cool.” I totally get it, when you're making an opportunity... and he's saying a whole bunch of other great stuff. I really like what they say at the beginning. They say that, “we live in a communication-saturated environment.” There's so much communication; you're listening to me, you're listening to other people ... Don't listen to other people, just listen to me ;-) There are so many people speaking. Back in the day, not enough communication was the issue. Inside of organizations, not enough communication was really the issue. Maybe even customer to business, or business to the customer - not enough communication. Those are serious issues for sure. However, there are also massive tendencies to over-communicate now. I believe in consuming a very information very low information diet - as Tim Ferriss teaches and talks about in 4 Hour Work Week. I'm very careful who I choose to listen to and very careful about what I consume. If I'm not learning for intent, then why am I learning? It's just noise. I ranted about that on a previous podcast. I really like what Tim Ferriss says about the subject. In Positioning they say, “Today, communication itself is a problem. We've become t

Ep 160SFR 160: My Greatest Asset (+College Transcript)...
Boom, what's going on everyone? This is Steve Larsen. This is Sales Funnel Radio, and today I'm gonna talk about my greatest asset and my college transcript. What's up, guys? Hey, today's a little bit different. First off, I wanna apologize. The last few episodes that went out, we found out the mic on the camera was busted, and so that's kinda why they sounded a little bit weird. Thankfully my super-ninja sound dude was able to take out a lot of the stuff, but we apologize for that. He's the man. You guys'll all get to meet him another time when we all feature our content team again. But, what I wanted to do, this episode's a little bit different, and you'll notice it's a little bit longer, but what I wanted to do is... I did a Facebook Live to my group, and it's a little long but the lessons are huge, and it frankly is how I went from completely failing out of college; I had no idea how to learn. Did not know, right? I really didn't know how to learn. Even into my early 20s, I had to figure out how to learn. In fact, the first thing I show you is my college transcript - you'll see the huge difference between when I learned how to learn, and when I had no idea how to learn. And how that's blessed me in my life and frankly, everything else that I do. Anyway, so it's a little bit of a different episode. We're going to cut over to it now. It's the recording from me in my group The Science of Selling Online. And so, we're going to cut straight over to that. If you have any questions or whatever, please reach out. The group itself had a great discussion about it afterward, and by the time I was done over 900 people had already watched it. And then a few hours later it was 1500. It's been really, really cool. There's some real talk, please go in with some thick skin. If you are easily offended, maybe don't watch this one. But anyway, let's cut over to it now and I'll see you in that episode. I've spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today. And now, I've left my nine-to-five to take the plunge and build my million dollar business. The real question is: How will I do it without VC funding or debt? Completely from scratch? This podcast is here to give you the answer. Join me and follow along as I learn, apply and share marketing strategies to grow my online business using only today's best internet sales funnels. My name is Steve Larsen, and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio. Hey, I just want to share with you guys probably one of the most important assets that I've ever created. It's something that took me, probably, two years to develop. Um, of actively trying to do it, okay? And I want to show you this real quick though, hold on, let me; just pulling it up right here so you guys can see it. I want to walk you through what I've done and why it means so much to me. And frankly, I know it's one of the major reasons why I am where I am right now. And it's because the lesson was so painful, okay? So let me share this with you guys... Alright. Okay, check this out. I went through, and I found my college transcript. It's not like anyone has asked me for it, ever. Russell certainly didn't care. But I'm glad for what it taught me. I'll never, ever regret going to college. Although, I you don't learn how to learn. You don't learn how to make money in college, right? But I'm glad I went. Check this out. I'm gonna show you my transcript, okay? And I'm going to show you something. This is funny... I graduated from college when I was 28. Right, and it's because I did like a two-year mission for my church; I took, frankly, a year and a half off. This was before I knew what I wanted to do. Before I tried enough things to know what I wanted to do. Right? I took a couple of semesters for army stuff. You know, going to basic training and a whole bunch of things. So it was a long time, okay? Much longer than normal people usually take to get through college, but I mean I had a family. We had kids; we had a different scenario and everything. Anyway, check this out. Okay, I'm going to show you my transcript. No one laugh, but totally feel free to because I'm going to. Let me make sure you guys can see this. Look at that first semester right there. D plus, A, F, F, F, F. That's the first semester. Okay, check that out. I got an A in Apartment Leadership because it was a two-hour thing. I just sat down and did it one day, when I realized how screwed I was at the end of the semester. My GPA was literally .00017, okay? I had no idea how to learn. I actually got kicked out of college. I got kicked out - and frankly, you have to go to class to stay in it. That's kinda funny. I kinda stopped going to class about halfway through. But the issue was; I didn't know how to learn. Okay? I had no idea how to learn, I didn't know the process it. I barely graduated high school, okay. I'm not just saying that; I got straight D's in science every semester; in math, every semester; in English. I certainly did in foreign langu

Ep 159SFR 159: Funnel Training Wheels...
Boom what's up guys? This is Steve Larsen, and this is Sales Funnel Radio! We're gonna talk about training wheels - and, “Is this a real gun?” I've spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today, and now I've left my nine to five to take the plunge and build my million dollar business. The real question is how will I do it without VC funding or debt, completely from scratch? This podcast is here to give you the answer. Join me and follow along as I learn, apply and share marketing strategies to grow my online business using only today's best internet sales funnels. My name is Steve Larsen and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio. What's up, guys? Hey, first off this is not a real gun okay just so you know, it's an airsoft gun but is a replication of a few others. Hey I know I give a lot of military examples, but I wanna give one for you right now, just 'cause it was a part of my life for a while, okay? So, this lesson, if I can get you to understand how this relates to sales funnels... it has everything to do with sales funnels... follow me for a moment. Okay, when we were shooting; we would shoot, and we'd shoot, and we'd shoot, and we'd shoot. Before we ever shot a bullet; guys, for weeks and weeks and weeks - all we would do is we would lay prone on concrete. We'd sit down, and they would make us hit our elbows on the ground "bam, bam, bam," right on the concrete to make our elbows stronger. It hurt like crazy for the first few days, but we started getting tougher and tougher and tougher so we could lay in the prone longer. Anyone else who's in the service, you know you guys have been through this as well - you know exactly what I'm talking about. For like two or three days we did that - and each night in the barracks we laid down just" bam, bam, bam, bam," smacking on the ground trying to get my elbows stronger and tougher. Then eventually we could lay prone for a long time, and it wouldn't hurt your elbows anymore - you wouldn't need little elbow pads - you didn't need any of that kind of stuff. The other thing we would do is for a long time, we would just sit there in a prone, and we'd take a full canteen, and we would hook it on the end of the barrel (so there's all that weight), and we'd just stay there. There'd be no bullet, and all we would do was practice cycling the weapon. That was it, "bam cycle the weapon, bam cycle the weapon." The next thing they would have us do is we would... (again I know a lot of you guys who have been in you know the service, you guys have done this as well okay, and you know exactly what I'm talking about). We would lay down there and we'd take a dime and sit it on the end of the barrel, and then we'd shoot... There'd be no round, and there'd be no bullet; we'd take a shot right, and then we would recharge the weapon while keeping balance. The dime, and even sometimes a canteen would be hanging off the end. If we could cycle the weapon multiple times without dropping that dime and leaving belts you know without rotating back and forth, then we were successful. We would do that over and over and over and over again; point, shoot, point, shoot - over and over and over and over. We did this for weeks and weeks and weeks before we ever even put a live round inside of a weapon. There were these guys that would show up, and they were like, Man I'm gonna be a sniper, and they expect to be this high-fluent guy - but they can even sit in the prone for like five minutes without hurting themselves - they were way way ahead of where they are, right! One of the things I wanted to talk about with you guys real quick is this whole idea of funnel building. A lot of people wanna be snipers when they can't even cycle a weapon in, right! A lot of people wanna build sales funnels that are successful when they haven't even figured out what copy is. They think, "Oh, it's not about copy, it's not about copy." However, they don't even know the actual psychology of what's happening in the brain. They don't know the difference between marketing and sales. They have not done the things inside of their life, right and there's no pattern in their life to actually know how funnels work, or what a funnel is. For a little bit, I used to think, "Oh, a funnel is pages." A funnel isn't pages -it's a way to do a funnel, okay? Anyway, what I wanted to do real quick is - I wanted to show you guys a notebook, and how much I've dedicated my life to this topic, okay? I wanna show you a notebook; this is the original notebook where I first heard about Russell Brunson and his very first course - the first course that I went through of his was called "DotCom Secrets X." Check this okay, I just wanna show you guys these pages. Here let me make sure you guys can see it. Check these pages out! They are chock full. I stayed up till 3 AM for three months in a row, I mean look at that, studying funnelology. Studying. Alright, this is all ads the beginning of it... This is all ad strategy - ad str

Ep 158SFR 158: The Pre-Purchase...
My focus is shifting from, "what should I have customers do post-purchase" to "what should they do pre-purchase?" Cue drum roll, cue lights; it's time to grab that tux and dig out that little black dress because - TODAY, your product is about to get the Hollywood Treatment. I'm about to drop some gold here - so settle down and take notes ;-) WHEN OVER-DELIVERING IS A BAD MOVE Recently I've been focusing on the small tweaks that you can make in your customer onboarding that create BIG effects. There this time that I built 86 funnels (x2) for a promotion that Russell was doing for one of Stu McLaren’s products called Tribe. When somebody purchases Tribe, they are given a step by step path to help them go through the program without overwhelm. Let’s think about that for a moment… Have you ever bought an online course and been so overwhelmed by the amount of content that you didn’t know where to start... or even worse, decided to ask for a refund? Providing a massive amount of content often makes us feel great because we feel like we're over-delivering. However, bombarding a customer with too much information can actually freak them out - causing them to utter the dreaded “refund” word. (*gasp*) Your customer is not looking to be overwhelmed; they're looking for a solution. Since I launched my product, I've been thinking a lot about the concept of onboarding and success paths. I've been trying to figure out the most effective ways to hand-hold your customers into being successful. There was a membership area that I built. It was by far the best members area I've ever created in my entire life. The problem was that it contained 200 hours of content. It was packed with value, but it was just too much for most people to handle. People were coming up to me saying: “I gotta quit my job to watch this! I'll never get through it." It was way too much stuff. People felt so stressed that they started asking for refunds. If they didn't have time to consume all the content - they wouldn't get the result - so they asked for their money back. Not good, right? So I started to create success paths that show customers exactly where they should start and what they should do if they want to achieve a certain result. Your kind of giving your customer permission to focus on just one thing and holding their hand along the journey. Creating a Success Path is a super effective way to increase customer satisfaction and reduce refund requests We’ve just talked about the importance of a post-purchase success path for your customers… but what about before they purchase? What happens there? Is it possible to create a pre-purchase success path to help you increase sales? The answer is a definite YES! PRE-PURCHASE THE HOLLYWOOD WAY Think about how Hollywood releases previews way before the movie gets released. Can imagine what would happen if Hollywood didn't release previews? I mean, think about that. Our brains wouldn’t be pre-framed and loaded with anticipation. We wouldn’t look forward to the release dates and arrange to go to the movies with friends. A movie release would just slip out without much of an event. It's like being really excited to go to a party or vacation. Sometimes, the most exciting bit is the anticipation and planning beforehand. THE BEST PART OF YOUR VACATION ISN’T WHAT YOU THINK A 2010 study published in the journal Applied Research in Quality of Life, found that planning or anticipating your holiday often makes you happier than actually taking it. The happiest part of your vacation actually happens before you even begin your holiday How does this work? I have a favorite story that explains what’s going on in our brains when this happens, so let me share it with you quickly… THE WARM/ COLD EXPERIMENT There was a college class who were told that they would have a substitute teacher for the day. Right before the substitute teacher came in to teach, the students were handed a biography of the teacher. However, there were two versions of the biography. Both versions were completely identical except for one word. One version said that, most students found the new teacher to be a very “warm” person,” The second version said that, most people him to be a very “cold” person. The biographies where split equally between the students - Half the students were pre-framed to expect the teacher to be warm and friendly, while the other half expected him to be cold and aloof. What happened next was fascinating... At the end of the class, they surveyed the students to see if the professor should continue teaching. The students who were pre-framed with the “warm” biography said that he was incredible and that they enjoyed the class. Conversely, the students who were given the “cold” biography answered that they didn’t enjoy the class and didn’t want the professor to continue to teach. It was exactly the same person teaching exactly the same lecture - but students the responses were wildly different depending on how they’d been pre-fram

Ep 157SFR 157: Three Personas Of The Red Ocean...
A common funnel error is targeting the wrong persona in the red ocean… Do you have a great product that you know could change someone's life, but you’re not getting the sales you want? Well, stick with me, because you might just be selling to the wrong people. In this blog, it's my mission to help you discover the customers who are ready, willing and able to buy your product. In fact, these people are so eager to buy - that you can even be a C-level copywriter - and still make loads of cash. Intrigued? You should be ;-) MY PERFECT PITCH A few years ago, I got a job as a door to door salesman. I'd walk around knocking doors, "What's up, pest control!" As the summer went on, I developed a bit of a theory. I started to notice that when I went to areas that were less affluent - smaller houses, not as much cash - I could get a ton of sales fast. I was killing it! Two to three sales a day was good in the pest control business, but I was regularly making six. I'd collect the cash, and we'd spray the houses... I thought everything was amazing. I felt like “The Man." Every so often, we’d rotate our areas and visit different cities with more affluent neighborhoods where people had bigger houses and more money. When I'd knocked doors in these wealthier neighborhoods and gave them my pitch, I was shocked to find that I got a lot of rejections. It was rejection after rejection; I couldn't figure out what was going on. So I decided to go back to those old neighborhoods where the people didn't have as much money - 'cause I knew I could sell them. Well, at the end of the summer, at least half of my accounts failed. Lots of my contracts refunded or didn’t renew because the people I’d pitched were not able to keep up the payment - even though they “wanted” the product. I realized that I’d perfected my pitch to sell to people with less cash. In the meantime, all my buddies who had spent time learning how to pitch to rich people made a lot of cash. They had fewer cancellations and sold higher value contracts - so by the time the summer was over they were still getting paid on their accounts. Not only were their customers not leaving, but they were also putting more money in their pockets. I realized that even though I’d been making lots of sales, in reality, I’d been selling to people who didn't have the money for continuity - which made them far more likely to refund or cancel; leaving me broke and fed up. Sure, I'd get a lot of accounts, but none of them would stick very long. I was like, “Crap! How can I NOT ever do that again?” It was a huge lesson for me. WHO ARE YOU SELLING TO? Now it probably won't surprise you to you to learn that since my pest control days, one question I’ve obsessed over is “How do I sell expensive things to people who have cash?” Most of the time when I consult with businesses they have a great product, it’s simply that they're selling it to the wrong “type” of person. We know that it's best go sell in places that are competitive (i.e, the red ocean) - because there's security there. Personally, I combine elements of the red ocean with elements of the prolific and the blue ocean to create a purple ocean offer that’s extremely attractive to your customers. If you want to learn how I create purple ocean offers, you can find out here. However, If you want to avoid making the same mistakes that I made when I sold pest control, it’s vital that you understand the 3 personas inside of the red ocean… So let me grab my whiteboard and show you what I’ve figured out! YOUR “NO DUH” PROMISE The first thing I look at on any funnel that I work on is its promise. There are 3 “no duh” areas that people spend money in, and these are HEALTH, WEALTH & RELATIONSHIPS. So the question that you need to answer is: “Does my product promise results in either Health, Wealth, or Relationships?” These are the “no duh” places for people to spend money in. They are the basic that everyone wants - they’re like milk or eggs (or maybe tofu if you’re vegan). There's no salesperson next to eggs, right? It's a “no duh” buying experience. I'm not saying, “go get in the eggs business.” But it's best to choose industries where there’s a “no duh” purchasing experience because this will make selling your product so much easier. People will spend money on: Improving Relationships Improving Health Growing businesses, investments, and wealth THE 3 PERSONAS OF THE RED OCEAN In every red ocean and every single industry, not all buyers are created equal - that probably goes without saying, right? So let’s look at why I made such a big mistake as a door to door salesman. Let’s look at the 3 types of buyer who exist in the red ocean (i.e.,the proven market) and what motivates the to buy. THE “DIE-HARDS” The “die-hards’ are deeply seated inside of their red ocean product. If you come to a die-hard person and say, “Hey, I got this cool thing for you.” There not going to be interested. They’ve had success with the product that they use - they’re a

Ep 156SFR 156: Crowd Creating Products...
I have a FaceBook group called The Science of Selling Online - I hang out there daily (it’s a FREE group). I do live funnel builds - and walkthroughs of my latest projects where sharing the reasons for what I'm doing. You can ask me questions, and I’ll answer them live. One of my latest projects is a program called Affiliate Outrage. It's an amazing course. The cherry on the top is that I’ve managed to pull together some outstanding experts to share their skills in each module. Last week, during one of my live funnel builds in The Science of Selling Online, someone asked me, "Steve, how did you build a product and get so many experts to contribute to it... How do you crowd-create a product?” So in this blog, I'm going to answer that question and reveal a skill that I see many Entrepreneurs utilize - that you may not be aware of. I'm also going to share some of the secret self-improvement skills that have influenced me profoundly over the last few years. Stay with me; this is going to be juicy! DODGEBALL - AND BEING AN ENTREPRENEUR There was this one time in my life, where every Monday for months; a group of us would show up turn tables over in a gym and hurl tennis balls at each other as hard as we could. There was about 30 of us, all in our late teens and early twenties - playing dodgeball and using tables as barriers. People got hurt - this was hardcore. I remember one particular time - I was super excited to play that week. I tried to get everyone to start. Man, I wanted to play so bad. I kept trying to get people ready, but nobody was taking any notice of me. After about 10 - 15 minutes, I got frustrated and went over to this other guy. He goes, "Oh, you're trying to start?" Then he lifts his head, and says, "Hey, guys, we're getting ready to start." With that one sentence, everyone turned their heads, stopped their conversations, and started listening. I watched the room in dismay. I couldn’t believe it, "Are you kidding me? - I've been trying ‘forever’ to get these people to do what I want!" I remember right there, at that moment, I realized that I didn't need to be good at everything - in fact, it was better if I wasn’t. I realized that it was better for me to be an orchestrator rather than try to learn how to play every instrument... That an entrepreneur is someone who has a vision and brings is to life. An entrepreneur is a maestro. MY LITTLE BLACK BOOK For years, I kept a little black book in my pocket. Every time I had a business idea or an insight, I would write it down in that black book. It was chock full ideas - some great, and some dumb - but I carried it around with me at all times. When I realized that I didn’t need to be “good at everything” to be an entrepreneur, I wrote it down in that book. Even though I was in my early 20’s when I wrote that thought down - it was one of the hardest lessons for me to learn as an entrepreneur. When I was at ClickFunnels, Russell drilled this lesson into me for eight solid months before it finally sunk in Multiple times, I'd be, "Dude, I'm gonna go learn more CSS." Russell would look at me and say "Why? We have someone for that." He'd be dead serious. I’d say, “Well, my major before marketing was CIT. I know I could understand it.” Again, Russell would look at me and say, "Oh, yeah, but who cares? We’ve got someone for that. Don't learn that." I struggled to take it on board because I’m curious and I like to know how thing work. However, when it finally sunk in, it was one of the best lessons EVER! If you’re like me, it may not be an easy lesson to learn, but please learn it. Here it is: Just because you know how to do something doesn't mean you should do it Sure, I can pop open Photoshop, use Illustrator, do my video editing, write copy, film videos, build funnels. However, to scale and get the highest leverage for my business - I need to concentrate on doing the things that only I can do. It's hard, I get it - but it’s soooo worth it DON’T BE A RENAISSANCE (WO)MAN The reason I started affiliate marketing was to get the cash so that I could hire people to do all the things that I shouldn't be doing. I also learned to develop another skill that I see many successful entrepreneurs use get stuff done. About 3 months ago, I had a brilliant person tell me,"Figure out how to hire people you can't afford." It's changed everything in my business! If you’re reading this, then you’re an A-player - a weird breed of person with both vision and ability You can bring your vision to life. However, the worst mistake you can make is to be a renaissance man or woman and do “all the things” yourself. It’ll slow you down and burn you out. So what do you do instead? SHARING YOUR VISION There’s one skill that I alluded to at the start of this article. A skill that I see so many successful entrepreneurs use to their advantage. A skill that can help you stay focused on your highest value tasks and get results at the same time. That skill is Influence. If you have a vision and

Ep 155SFR 155: How I'm Creating An Affiliate Army...
What's going on everyone, this is Steve Larson, and this is Sales Funnel Radio. Today we are gonna talk about how to create your own affiliate army. I've spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today. And now I've left my 9 to 5 to take the plunge and build my million dollar business. The real question is how will I do it without VC funding or debt, completely from scratch. This podcast is here to give you the answer. Join me and follow along as I learn, apply and share marketing strategies to grow my online business, using only today's best internet sales funnels. My name is Steve Larsen, and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio. What's up guys? Hey, so one thing I wanna get out of the way real quick is in the last few episodes I know I've talked a lot about things that I was doing at Clickfunnels when I first started working there. And the reason why is because what you'll notice that I'm doing, is I'm actually modeling the very things that I was doing over there, in my own business. Why? Because they work. I had a hand in creating a lot of those things, and I've done it before so, why not just do it again for my own company, right? And so to tell the story, real quick: I was just starting at ClickFunnels; I'd been working there like three months, and I noticed Russell started doing this weird thing... He grabbed an iPad, and he sat figuring out how to mirror his iPad to his computer. I was like that's kind of weird. He would record his computer. And he was sitting there, he was writing out the script… I think I was working on Biohacking Secrets at the time, or something like that. Feels like about the right timeline I think. Anyway, so he was writing those things out, and I would kinda notice him, you know just over my shoulder, just watching what he was doing. And I was building stuff, putting things together He did this really cool presentation where he showed how to be an affiliate, and the power of being an affiliate. Right, and if you guys know what I'm talking about, I'm talking about when we created affiliatebootcamp.com. And then something magical happened. This was one of the things that was a catalyst for me - that gave me confidence to actually teach the things that I was doing. He turned around and he said “Hey, do you wanna make the videos for this?” I was like, “Are you serious? Yeah!” On the outside I was like, “Yeah,” but on the inside, I was like, “Oh my gosh, this is crazy, right? Holy crap. Oh it's Russell Brunson.” I was pretty sure lightning would strike me if I didn't do a good job. Right, that's what was going through my head... but I didn't want him to know that. So I sat there and we started going through the different topics, coming up with different topics and different ideas for what Affiliate Bootcamp training was going to be. Now I knew affiliatebootcamp.com, he had used that in previous businesses, but the current version of it right now, at the recording of this video, I created. I remember I stayed up super late multiple nights filming and re-filming. I don't know if he knows that I did that, but I did that so many time because I was so scared that it wasn't gonna be amazing. And so I'd film, and I'd re-film, back and forth, back and forth… They were only 15 minute videos teaching a single really cool strategy that was very powerful, but I wanted to deliver it well. So I stayed up super late. I remember Russell went out of town once and the project was due soon. I was probably over obsessing, but just 'cause I wanted to do a really good job. So I was there really, really late. This was well over two years ago now - I was there super late, telling my wife, “Babe I gotta finish this thing... I'm doing the videos.” And she's like, “Whoa, that's crazy!” So anyway, I was super excited about it. I filmed a bunch of these strategies and taught a lot of cool stuff. And then I showed some of my own stuff that I had be doing to get affiliates at that time too. And that's what a... You know then Jon Parks came in with this amazing amazing job, right, teaching incredible Facebook strategies. Right, and it was really fascinating the way it all came about, and a lot of people joined Clickfunnels because of that. So yesterday what I did... I was going through and I have a Facebook group, if you guys don't know…. It's where I dump a lot of my strategy sessions. It's where I bring up a lot of things that I'm thinking of throughout the day. These podcast episodes are a little bit more... I think through them heavily, and I make sure that they all are like... It feels a little bit more permanent, right? The Facebook group though, that's what I'm doing on a daily basis. It's called The Science of Selling Online, go check it out - it's free. Anyway, yesterday, I did a deep dive with my group about creating an affiliate army. It was funny because half the people on the Facebook live told me that they were in Clickfunnels because of those original videos I did for Russell…

Ep 154SFR 154: Why I Chose The Info Product Business...
- What's going on everyone, this is Steve Larson, and this is Sales Funnel Radio. Today I'm going to talk to you about why I chose the info business over the others. I spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today. And now I've left my 9-5 to take the plunge and build my million dollar business. The real question is, how will I do it, without VC funding or debt, completely from scratch. This podcast is here to give you the answer. Join me and follow along as I learn, apply, and share marketing strategies to grow my online business. Using only today's best internet sales funnels. My name is Steve Larsen, and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio. I wanna deep dive into some of the reasons that I sell info now. I started and walked through several other models and markets over the years, but I've planted in Info for a few specific reasons. Here's why... What's up guys, hey, first off please know that I know there are far more types of business than just the ones I have on the board right here. But generically I find that a lot of them fit kind of in this category as far as the way that we market them. The four categories that I’m using are: Ecomm/ Agency/ Affiliate/ Info Service is kind of the same way as Agency. We might market Ecomm in similar way to retail. Anyway, so I went through and I started looking through different ways. I did this a while ago and I was very methodical about the way that I entered the business space and which market I actually went into. I'm not saying that one is not better than the other, and I'm not saying that these are all of them... please know that I’m going to talk in massive stereotypes. There are lots of different businesses out there. The kind of people that are solopreneurs, I typically see them going into one of these categorizes - until they get to a certain level, then they'll scale and blow it up and get to other places as well. I might put supplements under Ecomm. They’re very similar - the funnels are different - but there are some similar aspects to them. Services and Agency are kind of the same. Affiliate/ Salesman/ MLMers/ are all very similar Then there’s Info products… Anyway, what I want to do is I just want to show you guys real quick why I chose what I do and first of all I want you to know that this is, I actually sell info products now, right? I did not start that way at all though. Info products is kind of interesting the way that it plays out because to sell info products, it helps to have a little bit of authority in the space that you're selling it to. Obviously, it helps, it's true for anything. But especially with info. I didn't start with info. If you want to you can tackle it right away. Awesome, go for it. I actually was just trying to prove that this whole internet game worked. I remember the first time I was sitting in college in a class and for this particular class, it was Quantitative Marketing Research. That was the name of the course. And we went through and we had a live client, and it was actually Paul Mitchell. It was a Paul Mitchell school that was nearby. And what they were having us do was we would go collect a whole bunch of survey data and we were going to try and consult Paul Mitchell on what they should do with this actual real life scenario in business. And it was really really interesting. Well the assignment was for us to go talk to 10 people each as a class, then collectively we have a whole bunch of, we have a lot of data to work from. Well, sitting there with one of my buddies, we were like, "I do not want to go ask people, even ten, "I don't wanna ask ten people how to do the survey." And so what we did, we were like "What if we go, "and let's just actually put the survey on a Google form "and we will drive ads to it." Something very simple, but we did Facebook ads and we drove to it. And what was interesting is we actually went and we had we collected more surveys than the rest of the class combined. And it went really really well. Well that's how I started working for Paul Mitchell. Because Paul Mitchell came back like, "Hey, we don't have to do any of this internet stuff, "professors, like college teachers, do you guys "know how to do this stuff?" And they were like, "No, but these two psychos over here "seem to be doing something crazy, talk to them." And we got a handoff from the professors and we started building funnels, we didn't know they were funnels. We were building sites, in WordPress, we were driving traffic, and it was really really interesting how that happened. Well, right before all of that happened, I was like "Does this internet game even work? "Is it all a scam?" And so what I did was I started studying a lot of, if you guys know, High Traffic Academy from Vick Strizheus, I'm sorry I'm probably butchering your name man, Vick. Anyway, I started studying that and I started learning, "What if I was to just put a squeeze page in front "of a clickbank product and drive traffic to it? "Oh

Join me and follow along as I learn, apply, and share marketing strategies to grow my online business using only today's best internet sales funnels. My name is Steve Larsen, and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio. All right, guys, hey, I'm excited for this episode. This has been kind of a long time in the making. This is gonna be one of those episodes that have kinda been on my mind for a long time as something that I wanna share with you guys and teach you something really interesting. I wanna tell you a story, okay? We were planning Funnel Hacking Live 2017. I remember being on cloud nine, I could not even believe that I was in the planning sessions for Funnel Hacking. I was freakin' out about it, I was super excited. I was with Melanie, Dave, and Brent. It was just fun to be in the room. Russell's like, “Dude, what if we ask Tony Robbins to come?” We're like, “Oh my gosh, that's crazy.” So they started doing some research and reaching out to his team. Tony's team reached back out and said, it's gonna cost about this much. I am not privy to say the amount... I'm not even gonna allude to it... but I will tell you that it was a lot of cash. It was a butt ton of money. It was so cool to watch how Russell handled it…There is a lesson that I picked up... I was watching him like a hawk. I always do. First of all he goes, “Oh my gosh”, with this face. “Huh, oh my gosh, huh, oh god, I feel sick, huh.” What was interesting was what he did next... There was a moment where he freaked out, and that's appropriate and everyone can feel free to do that when you wanna buy something expensive. But then, he just said “Yes.” Then he was very careful to structure the FHL event in a way that would pay for Tony. Isn't that interesting? The event literally liquidated the cost of Tony Robbins. If you go look at any time he's ever had someone really big on - that's how he structures it. That's really fascinating. We started doin' some pretty interesting things that were very expensive. Things like the Harmon Brothers. The Harmon Brothers, they're the ones who did the viral video... Hopefully you guys are cool with me telling all these stories? I wanna link it back to what I'm doin' right now and hopefully you'll take something cool from this. The Harmon Brothers, it's public knowledge, so I'm just gonna say it... they charge half a million dollars to do a video. One video! A three, four, five minute video. Half a million bucks. They're expensive, but they get results. They're really cool, so they can charge that money. Instead of Russell going, “Gah, are you kidding? Half a million dollars?” Which was appropriate (and we all did that at first)... what he did was start figuring out a way to liquidate the cost with some kind of campaign, event, or product. So that at the end, he is left with both the asset and with his own cash in hand. Meaning he doesn't let his own cash out, he created something else to pay for the expense. Does that make sense? This is the smarter VC funding way. You guys know I'm pretty against things like VC funding, but it's because of this very principle right here. Think about a free plus shipping book funnel. A free plus shipping book funnel or even a webinar funnel... A lot of times in a webinar funnel there’s a self-liquidating offer before somebody even gets to the webinar. There’s a product to purchase even before someone gets to the webinar - that way, an average of 10% - 15% purchase the product, then it liquidates most of the ad cost. So everyone who comes and buys during the main product during webinar is actually pure profit. Does that make sense? That's how it works in a funnel, and the same principle can apply your business and the way you run it. This is the principle that I’ve been applying to my business. I told you guys about the story at this last Funnel Hacking Live, someone was like, “oh man, maybe I can get a discount on the 2 Comma Club X Program. Maybe I can split it with a few other people!” and I was like, “No, wrong question!’ Questions invite revelation... So you need to change the question. Instead of asking “How do I get a discount?” ask the question: “How can I afford the most expensive things in life?” Solve that problem, not the question: “How can I get a discount?” You'll solve either question... but most people don't ask questions with intent. So what I said to him was: “Look, go figure out how to pay for the most impressive, most expensive things in life, and at the end of it, you'll be left with the thing that you

Ep 152SFR 152: My Content Machine...
- Boom, what's going on everyone. This is Steve Larsen, and this is Sales Funnel Radio. Today, we’re gonna talk about my content machine and how I'm pulling it off. I've spent the last four years learning form the most brilliant marketers today. And now I've left my nine to five to take the plunge and build my million dollar business. The real question is, how will I do it without VC funding or debt, completely from scratch? This podcast is here to give you the answer. Join me and follow along as I learn, apply, and share marketing strategies to grow my online business, using only today's best internet sales funnels. My name is Steve Larsen, and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio. What's up guys? Hey, I am excited to share this with you. You know when I first started listening to gurus on the internet, when I first started consuming their content, when I first started going through and reading it - I was grateful for the content. But... I don't know if you're like me?... I didn’t ever want to do any kind of publishing ever, ever. I remember when I first went to my first Funnel Hacking Live. It was 2016. I remember this very clearly... I think I might have shared this with you before.... I was biking around the bay at San Diego because what cash we had, I didn't want to spend on a cab. So I was biking around on a hired bike and I remember thinking to myself, “I will do whatever Russell tells me to do, except I will not publish.” That was my actual thought. Fast forward a week, and I'm working next to Russell Brunson, and this is what I see him doing. He's sitting there and he's on camera going, “What's up guys, this is Russell Brunson!” Then he's over on his podcast, “What's up guys, this is Russell Brunson!” And then he's over on his blog... “What's up guys, this is Russell Brunson.” And I was like, there's something to this. This is really interesting. Funnily enough, on the very first day at Funnel Hacking Live, he said, “Everyone needs to start publishing.” And I was like, “there's no way I'm not gonna do it. I will build the funnels. I'll do whatever you want me to do Russell. My life's already changed. Thank you so much. I appreciate that. But I will never, ever, Mr. Russell Brunson, ever be one of those podcasters.” And that was my thought. Well, “What's up, how you doing?” I'm podcasting! We've crossed over 160,000 downloads between the two shows that I have - which is awesome. It's gone really, really well. I remember after watching Russell publish…. We didn't do anything unless there was a camera around a lot of times, right. We’d go grab a camera... One day it was like 4:00 a.m. and he voxed me; he goes, “Dude, I got this sick idea man - swing down to the office as soon as you can. I'm really, really pumped about this. I'm gonna make you famous.” I was like, what does that mean? And then he goes, “Dude, we're gonna start a reality TV show man!” And that's when we started Funnel Hacker TV. So we had a visual show... and then a podcast so people could listen... then there were blogs so people could read. Dominating everywhere! I mean, to be completely honest with you, can you consume all of the content that ClickFunnels puts out? No, nobody can. But that's not the point. He's trying to dominate the conversation. I remember about six weeks into working at CF, I decided to get a handle on this whole content creation thing. There was no way to do this without actually publishing. I know I'm gonna suck at first. Like I'm gonna be terrible. I'm gonna be awful. And I was awful. I was super bad. I really was not good. If you guys go listen to the first few episodes of Sales Funnel Radio - the content is good. What I'm talking about is great. But the delivery is terrible. I knew that. And I came to grips with the fact. I just needed to gut it out a little bit - just start moving forward. When I first started publishing, I was the only person in my content team. I was watching a lot of major entrepreneurs, and they were never the only one doing the content. They had a content team. I was like, “Oh my gosh, I'm not gonna be able to afford something like that… and how do you even put a team like that together.” The whole point of this episode is to show with you guys the journey through my content team - because even though I have a team now - it didn’t start that way. When I started, I was just using Libsyn. That's Liberated Syndication dot com. Libsyn.com. It's L-I-B-S-Y-N dot com. It's amazing, okay. It was like five bucks a month for me to start. And what it allowed me to do was... I wanted to be able to push out on iTunes obviously.... But I knew that a lot of people want to read, but I didn't want to write a blog. I like writing about this kind of stuff. But I'm not gonna take the time to write a blog for every podcast episode. So what I did was rip the audio and get it transcribed at Rev.com. Then I took that transcription, and it became the blog post. So now I have an blog for every episode. That's all I di

Ep 151SFR 151: My Revenue Outpaced My Business...
What's going on everyone, this is Steve Larsen and this is Sales Funnel Radio. Today we are going to talk about what to do when your revenue outgrows your business. I've spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today. And now I've left my nine-to-five to take the plunge and build my million dollar business. The real question is how will I do it without VC funding or debt, completely from scratch. This podcast is here to give you the answer. Join me and follow along as I learn, apply and share marketing strategies to grow my online business, using only today's best internet sales funnels. My name is Steve Larsen and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio. What's up guys, hey, I am very excited for this episode. So, when I officially left my job, just like the intro to this podcast says, January first, it's been five months. Five solid months now, five and a half-ish by the time this episode goes out, and five and half.. it's been fascinating to watch what's happened. So follow me here, this is what happened. Okay, so I left, right, and I had this awesome idea, I vetted it, I knew it'd be successful and what I did is I went and I started launching, launching, launching, launching, launching and what started happening was over on this side was the sales. Sales, sales, sales, sales, revenue, revenue, revenue, revenue. Lots of money started coming in. I was like "Whoa! This is crazy, "I've never had this much cash coming. "Whoa, my gosh, whoa!" And all this cash started dumping on in. And we did about 100 grand the first month and then it just continued. Now it's 50 grand a month and that's where it's been for a while because I slowed it down .. You guys might be like, "Hey, that's kinda funny, why would you slow it down?" I actually slowed it down because here's what happened; January, February, March was like sell, sell, sell, sell, sell, sell, and I'm selling, and we're making cash, and it's coming in, and we're at a 100 grand. You know, 100 grand, right... Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, we're making... A lot of cash coming in... What I started realizing was the actual, my actual business wasn't able to handle what was going on. I was like, "Crap, I never ever thought this would ever happen to me." And I say that because when I started building funnels for companies while I was in college and it always happened the same way… The funnels that we build, they sell things very, very, very well. I don't think people understand how well the funnels work, and that actually creates a business problem NOT a funnel problem. Here's what I mean: I was building all these funnels for people in college and there's this guy I was building a funnel for… I did the research, I ran ASK campaigns, and I figured out exactly what his customers needed. Then I went put those things together, and created funnels. When we launched them, boom! He made a lot of cash real fast. He made 50 grand really quick. 50 grand in the first month, it something like that. I can't remember exactly, it was a long time ago now. But there was a lot of cash coming in and then it kept going, and going, and going. It’s funny because Day #1 after launching the funnel, the business owner always comes and they're like, "Oh my gosh, look at all this cash coming in! "That's amazing, these funnels are so cool!" Then Day #2, they reach back out and they're like, "Wow, this is really awesome. "Holy crap, that's still a lot of sales." Then Day #3, they're always like, "Turn it off! Turn it off! "You're gonna bankrupt us, turn it off!" I remember I was kind of laughing when they said that, I thought they were joking. I was like, "Why would I ever turn off this... " Why would I turn off this funnel? Who wants less sales? I've never heard anyone say that in my life ever and at the time, I was making fun of it... I just didn't know any better. I was like, "Aw, that's stupid, why would you ever want less sales?" However, he’d run into a situation where the revenue was outpacing his business! Funnels are not businesses, they're not. A funnel is a revenue arm. A funnel is a very effective way to sell stuff. A business, though, that's completely different. A business is a series of systems - that's really all it is. It's a series of systems that fulfills on the funnel, that's really it. Okay, that's the way I define it anyway, okay? If you don't have enough systems in place, it means that every person who purchases from you is being fulfilled on differently. It means that every person who's coming in, right, and has a support question, you're treating it differently every single time. It means for every single, you know, package that needs to get shipped out there's not a process in place. It's literally different every time, and what's hard about that is that it makes it very challenging to scale. Especially if you’re just starting out and you’re kind of a solo guy for a while. If you're a solo, individual person for a while and you're kind of running on

Ep 150SFR 150: Competing With Your Attractive Character...
What's going on, everyone? It's Steve Larsen, and today, we’re gonna talk about how to compete with your Attractive Character. I just spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today. And now, I've left my nine to five to take the plunge and build my million-dollar business. Guys, I'm pumped for today. This could be a bunch of fun. A lot of guys know, I was really shy for a long time, right? And I've mentioned that many times, and some of you guys have said, that's not true, Stephen. No way that's true, right? But I was. I was really shy for a long time. I would say I even had a near-clinical fear of adults. You know, I would see an adult, and I would physically move in a different direction - I did that for a time. Even into my early 20s, I was pretty shy. It's not that I was like cowering, or that I wouldn't speak to anybody else... It's just that I was doing everything that I could to not engage with human beings. I don't know why I was that way. It’s not that I was really reclusive… or that I was sitting back all the time, going, “ugh, it's a person.” That's not how I was at all. But there was no way I would be getting on stage now. There was no way I would ever do something like a podcast. Just the thought of that would freak me out. To have a camera on my face right now, there's no way. When I finally became cognizant that I was this way, I started noticing all these business people who were amazing leaders. I’d be, “oh my gosh, check out those guys... Look at him, he's so impressive. He speaks and things sway. I wanted to develop that skill. I started doing things like door-to-door sales for the explicit reason of learning how to sell in scary environments. I started doing telemarketing, for the explicit reason of going in and learning how to sell hard in environments where you're constantly getting rejected. I don't know that everyone has to go through this kind of thing, but for me, I chose to start molding who I was... and who I was trying to become. It was a really challenging thing to go through. As I started getting more into it, I noticed that my ability to speak and to give sales messages started improving. Several years before I started working for Russell, I realized that I needed to get even better at this whole stand and deliver concept. I wanted to work out how to become… I don't wanna say, ‘a leader’… How to become... a ‘follow-able person’. It's kind of like saying leader. Anyway, but I was trying to figure out how to do that. Because from my background, and where I was coming from - that was an insanely hard thing to do! I would take my computer and find videos of people on stage. I did this specifically with Russell Brunson's stuff. This was way before we ever knew each other personally. I would take his videos - videos of him on stage, and I would go in front of a mirror, mute the video of him, so I could see him, but not hear him. And he'd be making all these gestures and I would mirror him. I would mimic him. I’d be moving around all over the place, mirroring and mimicking everything he was doing. It was so weird. It was awkward. I know that it’s weird, but it was what I needed to start breaking out of the shell I was in.. It’s how ‘Steve Larsen’ was born. Fast forward, I was working for Russell, sitting next to him; I was about 40-ish episodes into Sales Funnel Radio... We were running this thing called the FHAT event - the Funnel Hackathon Event. People would pay 15 grand for three days, and I would teach for hours. I mean, man, it was a long freaking time! Well, the very first FHAT event, we were vetting out the content, we were making sure that everything was awesome and solid. Then, right before Russell goes on stage, he turns around at me, and he goes, "Hey dude. Do you wanna introduce me?" I always make it a habit to say “YES’ - especially when someone with a lot of influence asks me to do something… My knee-jerk reaction is to say “YES!” and then figure out how to do it later. This attitude has brought me to some cool places in life. At the FHAT event, the room's filled with loads of people - very successful people. There's like 60 people in there, and many millions - tens of millions - hundreds of millions of dollars, collectively inside of that room. There's a lot of Russells inner circle - and they know what the heck they're talking about, right? I was like, crap, I gotta get on and introduce… The whole role of somebody who introduces somebody else is merely to raise the state of the room so that when the speaker comes on, they don't have to raise the state of the room. They can just walk on and start pr

Ep 149SFR 149: Its Usually A Marketing Problem
Just over two years ago, fresh out of college - having unexpectedly landed my dream job as 'Lead Funnel Builder' at ClickFunnels - I found myself sitting just feet away from my marketing hero, Russell Brunson. For the first few months, I was practically mute. Looking back, I think I was in shock. Inside, my head was whirring and going crazy: 'Oh, my gosh, I'm sitting next to Russell Brunson. RUSSELL BRUNSON! Look it's Russell Brunson. I'm in the same room as RUSSELL BRUNSON...' After a few cool moves to start a conversation: 'Hey, Russell, I nearly put a poster of you on my wall.'- *AWKWARD*- I decided that the best approach was to stay quiet and learn everything I could by watching the Master Marketer doing his thing. It was fascinating to watch Russell's brain work; the incredible way that he’d create offers, recall marketing campaigns, get into the zone to brainstorm and solve problems. Each day I learned far more than I ever had in my whole Marketing Degree. The main reason I started my Sales Funnel Radio podcast was to record all the nuggets that I was learning and pass them on. Day after day, I'd sit there mesmerised, listening to Russell coach and talk with his inner circle. I'd listen to him advising all these massive gurus and influential people - as well as entrepreneurs who were just starting out. So much golden advice- I was a like a sponge soaking it all up. After about three to four months, a funny thing happened - I started to notice patterns in the conversations that Russell was having. So one day, as he finished on a coaching call, I turned around to him and said: 'Hey, Dude, you're kinda saying the same things over and over again.' And, he goes, 'Yeah!' Now, if you're an expert in your field, you've probably noticed a similar pattern? You like to dive deep into your subject; you're obsessed with it. You have sooo much knowledge to pass on, but the problem is that a lot of the people you're serving don't need to go that deep with you. They don't want to freak out and geek out the same way that you do - they just want to take the next step- or get to the next level. So we had this idea to create a way to guide people from the ground up, on a step by step path, to create a million dollar company. From that point, Russell could take them EVEN HIGHER. It was a win/win solution. The entrepreneur got access to everything they needed to help them on the first part of their journey, and Russell got to spend less time on the basics, and more time in his zone of genius. I spent six months going through twelve years of Russell's videos, and all of his content. I backward planned and organized the material into the exact steps needed for a million dollar business. We created a 200-hour membership area - it was freaking huge and packed with VALUE... And that's how 'Secrets Masterclass' was born. On its launch, Secrets Masterclass made a million in three weeks! What was even more fun was that people who joined the program made a million dollars too. A lot of people became hundred-thousandaires, while many others made money on the internet for the first time in their entrepreneurial life. It was such a success that we decided to take the material from the Secrets Masterclass and condense it into a three-day live event -'The Funnel Hack-A-Thon' (aka, The FHAT Event.) The FHAT event was loads of fun and got excellent results for the participants. Then right before the 2018 Funnel Hacking Live in Orlando, Florida, Russell asked me if I wanted to go on stage to do a presentation (Hell, Yeah!)... The challenge was to take the material from the three-day FHAT Event and present it in ten minutes. Holy Smoke! At first, I didn't think I could do it. It was soooo challenging. Luckily, my head is kinda geared towards sorting this stuff out - I love to take a complex subject and simplify it down to the essentials. So I put on some music and got my brain into gear. I started at 4pm and didn't finish until 5am the following day. That's eleven solid hours spent creating a ten-minute presentation. CRAZY! Hands up, guys - at the event I ran over time by seven-minutes (sorry, Russell). But you get the picture? Twelve years of teaching - turned into a two hundred hour membership site, then condensed to create a three-day live FHAT event, finally turned into a ten-minute (ok, *cough* seventeen minutes) presentation. Well, all this condensing got me thinking… Sometimes you have a fantastic product that you've been selling it face to face, but it's not selling online the way you want it to. Here’s the problem (and most entrepreneurs have been through this at some time): You decide that you're going to sell a something - so you go out and find a product that is selling well. That's smart. That makes sense. However, once you find your product, then you just kind of toss it out there and kind of hope that people start buying it. And that's the extent of your plan. I've definitely done that before… and then been shocked that no on

Ep 148SFR 148: The Purple Ocean...
The Purple Ocean A few days ago I was in San Diego preparing to go on stage. If you’d seen me, (and I’m kinda glad you didn’t), you might have thought I was a bit strange. There I was with my headphones on, eyes closed, intently focused on getting into the zone. Pacing around the room to music like a crazy person. I love speaking because there's a sort pressure cooker effect that happens before I talk on stage. Somehow my neurons start firing extra fast, and all these ideas begin to percolate in my head. I become obsessed with how to get my message across clearly and in the most beneficial way for my audience. If you’d been a fly on the wall... (shhh) you might even have seen me dancing. I do whatever it takes to get those connections firing in my brain. I’m fixated with making hard to chew concepts as SIMPLE and exciting as possible... ‘Cause ‘ain't nobody loves a yawn fest.’ So, picture me, shaking my moves and freaking out about the Red Ocean versus Blue Ocean idea that Russell talks about in Expert Secrets. It’s such a great concept! The Red Ocean is a PROVEN Market. The Red Ocean is safe because you already know that people want the product. However, it's risky because tough competition means that you'll have to compete on price. So the chances of you making a whole lot of money are slim - #urrrgh! The Blue Ocean is a NEW OPPORTUNITY for your market! The Blue Ocean is where you'll find yourself if you create an offer that's prolific - Something different to what’s already out there. Sure, there's a lot less competition... BUT, you’re still taking a RISK - because your offer isn't proven. How do you know if anyone actually wants it... or what they’re willing to pay you for it??? *Fatal Flaw Alert* Then, it hit me: Here’s the Equation: Red Ocean = Product Security + Intense Competition = RISK Versus Blue Ocean = No Competition + Less Market Security = RISK ‘Holy Batman... It’s Catch 22!’ So, what do you do… How do you combine the Security of the Red Ocean with the Opportunity of the Blue Ocean? Can you minimise risk, serve more people and MAKE MORE MONEY? Is it even possible? Relax! This is where my pacing, dancing, and obsession pays off ;-) ‘Welcome to the Purple Ocean of Opportunity’ The Purple Ocean is a mixture of the Red & Blue Ocean… Think about it... You mix the best aspects of the Red and the Blue Ocean together, and you create the Purple Ocean! ‘The Purple Ocean provides the Security of the Red Ocean with the Opportunity of the Blue’ So, you might be thinking, ‘Yeah, this sounds great Stephen, but how does it work? Let me explain: Recently, when I’ve been putting together my offers, I’ve been using the Purple Ocean Concept to great effect. My students have been feeling it’s impact too. It’s sooo incredibly powerful! How to Create a Purple Ocean Offer When you create an offer, make sure that you take elements from the Red Ocean and combine them with elements from the Blue Ocean that you want to guide your customers towards. The mixture of the elements from the Red and Blue Ocean creates a Purple Ocean Offer. This provides the SECURITY and SAFETY of the Red Ocean while gently guiding your customer over to the prolific NEW OPPORTUNITY of the Blue Ocean - where you have more control and less competition. Your customers will often guide you and let you know which elements from the Red Ocean are needed to help make them feel safe and secure. Entrepreneur’s Dilemma ‘If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.’ - Henry Ford It’s fascinating to look at the significant industry shifting products, like the iPhone, because they often follow the same Purple Ocean method. Steve Jobs had a vision of what was possible. He produced an entirely revolutionary product. However, he made sure that his product fulfilled the needs of Red Ocean customers as well as the those of the more innovative early adopters. ‘You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new.’ -Steve Jobs Jobs, recognised the same issue as Ford. As an entrepreneur, you need to do the same. It’s your job to hold a vision of what’s possible for your customers - while adding the safety and familiarity of Red Ocean elements to your offer. That way you help your customers to transition to your New Offer in a stress-free way. For Example: If your customers are convinced that the only way to make phone calls is with a mobile service provider, then you have to make sure that your offer includes the SECURITY of that service. You can then throw wifi calls and facetime into the mix - and gradually win them over to the NEW and the prolific. Freaked out, scared customers who are unsure of your product are the least likely to part with their cash. They’ll refuse to buy into your vision - however amazing it is. They’ll keep their money in their wallets until they find a solution that fits their preconceived ideas. Think about how many people

Ep 147SFR147: The REASON Im Here Today...
This is quite an emotional post for me. I’m sitting in a hotel room in San Diego. It’s the hotel where we've been doing an event for the ClickFunnels ‘Two Comma Club’ Coaching Program. It’s been an intense few days - loads of fun, but extremely busy. On Thursday and Friday, I had my own event. On Sunday, I took a flight to San Diego and finished some big projects. Then on Monday night, I stayed up until 2am to complete the slides for my ‘Two Comma Club’ presentation on Tuesday. It’s been event after event after event. Kinda crazy, but I really enjoy it. Today, I’m sitting in my hotel room feeling tired. Tired, but incredibly grateful. I’m looking out over San Diego Bay and thinking about how much my life has changed. If you've been to San Diego you’ll know that the bay is beautiful - it’s absolutely amazing. When I walked into my hotel room, I saw it had these windows all over the place and a fantastic view of the whole bay. I actually started crying - because only two years ago, I'd bootstrapped my way to San Diego to attend Funnel Hacking Live. And… it was THAT event that changed my life. In the grand scheme of my lifetime - two years is no time at all. Seriously, I can hardly believe that two years ago my family struggled to afford anything more than the basics of life. Financially, things couldn't be more different now. However, more than the financial changes, I can't believe how much I've changed as a person. I can't believe all the things that have happened to me- and the lessons that I've learned. From my room, with the amazing windows, I can see the hotel where the 2016 Funnel Hacking Live Event was held. It's right there between two of the buildings in front of me - that's why I cried. So many memories came flooding back. You probably know the story of how I broke I was in 2016; I had a young family to support and seventeen failed businesses to my name. All of which doesn’t make you feel great. I had people depending on me, but I just couldn't get things to work out the way I wanted them to. I think most entrepreneurs have a similar story. It's not like you get taught this stuff in school. Most of us just kinda 'try it’ until we find out what works and what doesn't work. What sells and what doesn't sell. We go through a process of elimination. Man, but sometimes, it’s tough. In March 2016, I was determined to get to Funnel Hacking Live. I didn't have enough money, so I’d decided that I’d adopt the entrepreneur's attitude that Robert Kiyosaki talks about. I decided to get resourceful, and get myself to Funnel Hacking Live anyway I could.' “Never say you cannot afford something. That is a poor man’s attitude. Ask HOW to afford it.” -Robert Kiyosaki I knew that if I could just find a way to get to FHL, that my life would change. Looking back, I had no idea how much - but somehow, I knew that it was imperative for me to go. So I got resourceful and bartered funnel builds for a ticket, followed by flights and hotel rooms. I was so pumped when I made it to FHL. But even when I got there, things weren’t exactly easy. I didn't eat much - because I couldn't afford to. I cycled to the event on one of those city bikes. You know, those little street bikes. I literally took my luggage, put it over my shoulder, and while I was balancing it over my shoulder, I pedaled all the way around the bay to the event. I didn't have much cash, and what little I did have, I wasn't gonna spend on a freakin' taxi. Imagine how I feel today- From my gorgeous hotel room with all the windows and the view of the bay, I can even see the hotel where I stayed in 2016. The hotel that I didn’t barter enough for a bed in for my final night. The hotel where I spent a night sat in the lobby going over my FLH notes like they were gold dust because I didn’t have a room. Those notes meant everything to me- I didn’t want to forget anything I learned. I didn’t have a bed, but I felt rich and excited in so many other ways. Last night, I stood at my hotel window watching the ships going out on the bay, and I got a bit introspective. I stood there for a long time thinking. Then suddenly, the thought came into my head, 'Man, how did this all happen? How did I go from a broke college student struggling to support his family to the Lead Funnel Builder at Clickfunnels, then to running a successful business with so many opportunities around me all the time?' I felt a bit shell shocked- so I went for a walk around the pier, right out there, eating Haagen-Daz and talking to my wife about how it all happened. It's just fascinating for me to think through all the pieces that brought us here. And the more I started to think about it, the more I realized that: 'I don't think I'd actually be here if I'd had money to get to Funnel Hacking Live 2016. I don't know that I would have treated everything that Russell said with so much conviction at that event - if I'd had the cash to get a taxi.' Interesting, isn't it? That the pursuit of my dream to get to FHL is

Ep 98SFR 146: My Inner Circle Presentation...
If you wanna know how I've launched all my content, I ripped the audio from my presentation at Russell Brunson's Inner Circle... Hey, what's going on, everyone? It's Steve Larsen. You're listening to Sales Funnel Radio and I'm excited for this episode. What I did for this episode is I wanted to rip the audio from the presentation that I gave at the Inner Circle. We just barely had the Inner Circle, and it was packed. It was one of the bigger groups. It was a bunch of fun, just absolutely loved it. I thought I'd rip from you guys the presentation. If you don't know the way that those presentations are handled, everybody gets up and everybody speaks, but the way it is ... One of the reasons I like this Mastermind so much ... I've seen others, I've watched ... What I like is everybody's very giving, and so what we do is we stand up and everybody gives something incredible to the group; either something that's working, some cool hacks, something that's cutting edge, something that's just jaw-dropping, "Oh, my gosh! That's incredible." You know what I mean? Then, at the end of it there's an ask and you ask, "Hey, these are the things I'm struggling with. Could you guys help me with X, Y, and Z?" That combination between the two where you've given before you ask is amazing. We obviously see that in selling to our customers and selling to everybody. The more you can give, obviously, create this feeling of reciprocity, well, it's no different inside of the Inner Circle. What I did is I ripped the audio from my presentation. We only have 22 minutes, it's really, really fast, so I would love to dive more deeply into this at some point, as this is a topic that I've been obsessing over recently. Anyways, this is cool stuff, and this is how I launched my podcast. A lot of you guys continue to ask me those questions... If you have never heard the episode 60 and 61 of Sales Funnel Radio, it will walk you through my content strategy, how I handle it all, but I think you'll like from the standpoint of, as far as how I stack together my episodes when I launch my shows. This is super powerful. I've had a lot of students now who are actually in top-rankings of iTunes with their podcasts, because of the same strategy that I teach with these, so this is powerful stuff. Know that there is a lot of data behind it, there's a lot of success stories behind it. I know the strategy works, this is how I launched my own stuff. Anyway, take notes if you were thinking ... Especially, if you're going to do a blog, or a podcast or whatever, it doesn't matter if you're going to do a podcast or not. This is any type of content strategy, as far as what do you say? What are you doing? How do you call your shot? How do you become the guru on the mountain without being perceived as an idiot or a jerk or self-centered? This is how you do it, and I'm excited for this episode. Anyways, we'll cut over to the show here and this is the audio again of my presentation to the Inner Circle. Thanks for listening. I spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today, and now I've left my 9:00 to 5:00 to take the plunge and build my million dollar business. Hey, I'm excited for this, though. I have waited so freaking long to be a part of this group. It's cool. I'm like a combo of really introspective moment, look back, and like, "Yeah," at the same time. That's what I feel like, anyway. It's been a long road, though. When I first saw that email come in from Russell I was walking through the basketball gym, and I started reading the email. I'm like, my face as I'm reading it goes like, "Oh, it's from Russell," and that's when my face starts going, I was like, "No!" I stopped and I responded to him that the Inner Circle is closing. I was like, "Don't close, I'm on my way! I don't have $25,000." I showed him the email like six months ago. He was like, "You know it was an autoresponder, right?" I was like, "Yeah, I know. I just needed to ..." because I didn't see that. Anyway, so it's a good email, though. [inaudible 00:04:01] I could show you some day. I want to show you my support team for how I got here. This is my support team. That's Maya. I call her Thigh master, because her thighs are like the two-year-old 12-ounce steaks. Do you know what I mean? Chewy thigh. Anyway, she's the Thigh master. That's Brnley. I call her Pack and Play, because she will randomly dive at me off of couches with no warning. Anyway, she's awesome, playful. Here's my wife. I call her Princess Babe. That's been the name in my phone since we dated, because ... well, duh. The whole thing started though when I was ... I rea

Ep 98SFR 145: Peng Joon's Secrets to Growing A Following...
I'm STOKED that Peng got on my show. Come learn how he transformed both his audience and himself in his crazy story... What's going on everyone, it's Steve Larsen and you are listening to Sales Funnel Radio. This episode is a little bit different. I had the incredible honor of having Peng Joon on the show with me. And if you don't know who he is I've heard him described many times as the Tony Robbins of Asia, actually by a lot of other big people. Anyways, he's very, very impressive... Millions and millions of followers. This was a huge honor to have him on. What I was trying to do is I was trying to do a Zoom interview so that I could record him, and I together, so you could see our faces and have the first video episode of Sales Funnel Radio. The issue is that he is in Malaysia, and I am here in Boise Idaho. We both have fast internets. I think literally the fact that we were on the other side of the world from each other, the internet was not agreeing with that. So anyways, I had ripped the audio from it instead and just do audio only. This interview is incredible you guys. How should I say this? The quality of my life, but also the direct thickness of my wall has been impacted directly from Peng Joon, and especially what he taught at Funnel Hacking live, and the things that he's doing. I watched him for quite some time and he is very, very, impressive. I was incredibly honored to have him on. So anyways, excited for the interview. Please definitely take notes, and if there's little glitches or whatever here and there with the sound, or the interview I apologize with that. Again, a lot of it had to do with just I was being on the other side of the world. We eventually had to turn off our video, and just do an audio interview. So if it's a little glitchy here and there I apologize, but this is worth your time to learn and listen of what he's doing. In fact, much of the inner circle now is calling their own content strategy they coined it the Peng Joon method. It is because of how powerful this stuff has been in their own content curation and generation, and spreading it all over the world. Guys, I'm just very thankful for you guys being here and listening to Sales Funnel Radio. Please go take notes and welcome to this episode with Peng Joon. I've spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today. Now I left my nine to five to take the plunge and build my million dollar business. The real question is how will I do it without VC funding or debt completely from scratch?... This podcast is here to give you the answer. Join me and follow along as I learn, apply, and share marketing strategies to grow my online business. Using only today's best internet sales funnels. My name is Steve Larsen, and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio. Alright guys, hey I'm excited for this. This is gonna be so much fun. I've had this individual on my list of people that would be a dream to interview for actually a long time. There's an actual list, and I'm blown away right now. I'm gonna try not to blush too much. This is gonna be a bunch of fun. I actually have on here, Peng Joon. He has such a gigantic following, and the way that he's done is actually amazing to me, totally astounding. And has had a direct impact on literally the way that I do my personal business, as well as I know a lot of you guys as well, so this is gonna be a bunch of fun to dive on in. Anyways, without further ado I welcome you to the show. How's it going Peng? Peng Joon: Hey, I'm good. Steve Larsen: Thanks for taking the time over there I know it's a historical day like you said. Peng Joon: That's right. I'm just so excited. It's one in the morning right now, but I don't think I'm gonna be sleeping any time soon, because I'm just so excited. History made here in Malaysia. Steve Larsen: So cool. You just went and voted, and waiting for results is that what it is right now, everyone's waiting? Peng Joon: Yes, that's right. Steve Larsen: That's so cool. Thanks for taking the time to do this especially during such a big day over there as well. For everyone else, first of all if you're not following Peng, he's one of the go to people. I watch everything he does, okay. Go follow him. Go do everything he says to... How did you get started with this whole thing? You kind of talked a little bit about it at Funnel Hacking live, and you were showing a video of how you first started out on stage. It was amazing. I think it broke everyone's beliefs on the ability to be successful like this. Can you just for everyone else you mind just talking a little bit about that what you were doing? Peng Joon: So here's the quick back story. For my entire life I've always been this really shy, introverted kid. When I start off with my online journey I just wanted to be anonymous and make money online without speaking to anyone ever. So what I did was back then I was really struggling. And here in Malaysia things are really different. My first pay slip, I actual

Social Media is constantly evolving. Listen and learn about what it takes to make it as an Entrepreneur in today's content saturated world... What's going on everyone? My name is Steve Larsen, and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio. What's up guys? I'm super excited for you to be here. This is going to be a massive treat for you. I've got to tell you, the topic we're going to go through today and frankly the person that I've brought on today, at first this topic I discredited just a little bit. I'm not going to lie, which is shame on me, poopoo on me, right, but I'm very excited for you guys to learn more about this. The longer I've been doing this game, the longer I've been part of this, the more I've looked at what this person's doing, it's just with sheer awe. I cannot believe everything that he gets done, and I'm very excited. I'm super honored, actually, to have him on the show. It's going to be great. Anyway, I want to welcome to the show, though, Mr. Josh Forti. How are you doing man? Josh Forti: Hey Steven. Good to be on here. Thanks so much for having me on. I appreciate it. Steve Larsen: I'm super excited. I was thinking right before you got on here, I was thinking through kind of the different times we've brushed shoulders. Josh Forti: Yeah. Steve Larsen: But not really actually spoke. You know, I know you came to the Viral Video launch. You had an invite for that for sure. I saw you over there taking pictures with Gary V., and I was exhausted by the time that event came up. I barely remember anything. Everything was hazy... Josh Forti: I got roasted by Gary V. at the Viral Video event. Steve Larsen: I remember that. He was standing right there. Josh Forti: Remember that? Steve Larsen: Yeah. He roasted you hard, man. Josh Forti: That's right. That's right. I think you handed me the microphone for that, too. Steve Larsen: Yep. Yeah. I had no idea we'd work this much together and have you on the show. Josh Forti: Who knew, who knew? Steve Larsen: Who knew? Yeah. And then it was really, right, we did that Mastermind together. Josh Forti: Yeah. Steve Larsen: And I heard you speak and I swear gold was just spraying everybody in the audience, just all over the place. I could not believe what you were saying. It was amazing. It was incredible. This whole other side of the funnel where the person is the funnel and really diving into personal branding. You're clearly, in my mind, I actually believe that you're like the foremost expert on personal brand creation. I'm just so honored to have you here... Josh Forti: Oh man, well I really appreciate, really appreciate that, and I don't know if I'm the number one, but I certainly try to be. Yeah, we've had a lot of fun with it. Steve Larsen: I'll say it for you. Josh Forti: Okay. You can say it for me. I like that. I like that. Yeah. We've had a lot of fun with it. Steve Larsen: Honestly, it was when we were standing outside right after that Mastermind and I saw not just that you were like, I mean, dude, you're very smart. You get a lot of stuff done. You're a go-getter and a hustler, but then also you're intent on helping the world. That's when I was like, man, I've got to get close to this guy. That wasn't long ago. That was like a month ago. Josh Forti: It feels like it. It was a little longer than that. I think it was, back in January. That was in Vegas. Steve Larsen: Oh, that's true. Josh Forti: Right? That's when that was. We spoke there. That's when we first officially met. We had brushed into each other like you said, but we officially met. We spoke on the same stage. I remember at the event someone was like, Steven Larsen's going to be speaking. I was like, well, if it's good enough for him, it's good enough for me. So, I'm super happy that we got to meet up there and, yeah, form a friendship that eventually led to us speaking together again down at the Mastermind before Funnel Hacking Live. Steve Larsen: Oh, yeah, that's right. That's awesome. That's awesome. Yeah. You know, so for those in the audience who may not know who you are, how did you actually get into this, this area of personal branding? I think the area, like I've had such an issue with it just because I've not ever known really what it is. It seems a little bit fluffy and you're so clear on how to do it. How did you get into this? Josh Forti: That's a great question. So, actually I grew up through high school, I was home schooled and I grew up on a farm. I had no

Again this is another one. Take a piece of paper out, write down notes, write down inspiring things that come to you. This is the kind of episode that not just has the ability to teach you a lot, but have a direct impact on the thickness of your wallet. I'm very excited for our guest today. I have known him for quite some time. I'm always extremely impressed with everything that he does. I want to welcome to the show, Dana Derricks. How you doing man? Dana Derricks: What's up man? Hey, thanks for having me. And for anybody that's listening, if you're in your car, pull over, put your hazards on. Just stop what you're doing. Tell your dog to go away. Your about to get hit with some gold here. Steve Larsen: This is awesome stuff. Thanks for being on. Anyway, I've been just been super impressed with you. I think honestly the first time we met though was we were redoing the homepage of ClickFunnels and Russel's like ... I remember I came in one day and Russel was like ... He was like, "Hey man. Dude I got Dana Derricks man. He's going to come on over and he's going to help us rewrite the entire, all the copy for ClickFunnels' homepage." And I was like, "Cool. Wait, who's this?" "He's the goat farmer." I was like, "Wait there's a guy ... There's a goat farmer who's an internet marketer?" He's like, "Yeah yeah yeah yeah." And then you came out and you showed up, and you had overalls and like, sweet straw farmer hats. And I was like, "This guys is the man." And like ever since then I've just been diving into your stuff. I'm super impressed with what you do. Dana Derricks: Dude, thanks man. I'm glad I have one fan. Steve Larsen: Whatever. Dana Derricks: No, that was so much fun and don't forget what ... By the end of that trip, what did you end up wearing home? Steve Larsen: Oh yeah. Oh yeah. So he came in one day, just so everyone on the show ... He came in one day, it was one of the last days, and he had a full chicken suit costume for me. What was ... You gave Dave a massive bear. Russell had ... He was the gorilla right? Dana Derricks: Yeah. Russell was a gorilla, Dave was a bear, you were the chicken. Steve Larsen: That's right. And I thought that it'd be funny to ride that on my motorcycle home. So I did. And we'll put that - Dana Derricks: And... Steve Larsen: In the show notes. Dana Derricks: Yeah. Please. And can we put the picture? Can we dig up the picture too? Steve Larsen: Yeah. I'll go find the picture. I'm just writing that down. Dana Derricks: Oh man. So good. Steve Larsen: Chicken. Dana Derricks: Such a good sport everybody. Steve Larsen, everybody. Steve Larsen: Oh thanks man. Appreciate it. Well hey, just so ... If you guys don't know, if you're not aware, Dana Derricks is one of the, I would say foremost experts on this whole concept that I feel like is extremely kind of gray, cloudy. A lot of people don't understand it, but it's this whole thing around the Dream 100 and how to actually implement it. And I mean you literally wrote a book on it right? And when did that come out? Dana Derricks: When did the book come out? Steve Larsen: Yeah yeah. Dana Derricks: I think it's been out for about eight months. So probably about towards the end of last, of 2017. Steve Larsen: Okay cool. Now before, before you were doing Dream 100 ... So I mean, first of all, how did you become an advocate of Dream 100? How did you start doing it yourself? Was it ... I mean, I know the story, but for everyone else who's listening, like how does a goat farmer who's also a copywriter, who's also an internet marketer overall product creator, go directly into Dream 100 stuff as well? Could you give us a little backstory there? Dana Derricks: I know. Everybody at this point is probably thinking, "Stephen, what is wrong with you? Where did you find this guy?" Steve Larsen: "Who is this guy?" Dana Derricks: Yeah. "What's happening?" So yeah. So I guess a little bit of a backstory that got me into the Dream 100 was I'm the type of guy that's going to try everything, and then figure

Ep 98SFR 142: Profitable Webinar Sequences (Part 2)...
Lessons from my 2-day deep dive (caffeine and dubstep abound)... What's going on everyone? It's Steve Larsen and you're listening to Sales Funnel Radio. I've spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today. And now I've left my nine to five to take the plunge and build my million dollar business. The real question is, how will I do it without VC funding or debt, completely from scratch? This podcast is here to give you the answer. Join me and follow along as I learn, apply, and share marketing strategies to grow my online business using only today's best internet sales funnels. My name is Steve Larsen, and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio. Hi guys, I'm excited to share this with you. These were ... These are the patterns that I noticed while I was kind of deconstructing some of the most profitable webinars, and especially their sequences. Okay? I was specifically looking at sequences. The funnel part I didn't look at as much, frankly because on some of these I helped build them, but it's the actual copy itself that I'm trying to go through and show some of these neat patterns that are inside of every one of them. Anyway, so I'm going to walk through some of these. I've got notes all around me right now. So if there's like a little pause, or little ums, or little ah, just stick with me, bear with me, because I'm going to walk through these. I just sent a lot of these lessons over to several people as well. Anyway ... Okay. So I'm going to walk through some of the scenarios here, okay? And what's funny is, man just going in and just adding one of these things in. Like it's going to increase my ... It'll increase my show up rate, it'll increase the amount of people who purchase. There's a lot of pros and benefits to what it'll actually do for actually sequencing itself. And what's funny is while going through and looking at these things, I almost started getting this feeling like, "Man I actually owe it to my prospective customer to do this stuff. To actually make these changes. It actually will increase the experience. ...They'll actually have a better experience during the buying process." I actually feel like it'll serve them more. And so this is like ... These aren't like little tricks like, "Oh these are cool tricks to like do that very thing. Trick them." Okay. I actually think that the level of clarity that this added was very fascinating as well. Anyway, so I'm going to go through some of these lists as well here, and specifically there's like ... Let's see. One, two, three. There's ten. Actually ten things that I want to walk you guys through and show you how to vastly, I believe, especially from watching the way each of these webinars are pulling off, increase your cart value, but like I was saying before, I think like followup sales. Right. Dropping refund rates. Does that make sense? And all the things that come with it. Anyway, so I'm excited for this. Here's the first thing though. So number one here, these are the interesting webinar followup lessons from my hacking expose. Okay. Anyways, number one here, what I ... Some of these might be like, "Oh kind of cool," and some of them are just like massive super huge bombs. Anyway, so the first one here is on these webinars. The confirmation email ... And almost every one of these scenarios, and every one of these normal webinars, the confirmation email itself has an origin story in it. Now think about this, okay? Does everybody buy the same way? No. People do not all purchase in the same manner, right? I am not going to sit and read sales copy. I want a video. Right? I do not sit and read a blog. I want to listen to a podcast. Okay. I do not consume content. All right, but there are other people that exact opposite. And as one of the biggest lessons I think I can give to you, especially one of the themes you'll see throughout as I kind of draw up these lessons, you're actually giving the webinar script in several manners, not just on the webinar. Okay. There's a group of people that want to see it on the webinar. There's a group of people that do not. And so you actually threw the scenario. You're actually going hit several different modalities to deliver the sales message, to deliver the offer and the stack. To actually give the scarcity and urgency to close. To give the time close for them to actually act. To give the bonuses away. It's actually hitting them in several different manners which is really interesting. It's really three heavy ones. But anyways, think about this right? The first email they're going to be seeing is let's say they're not actually going to go and watch the webinar. But most of them are still going to go check out the confirmation email, right? Or a good portion of them are going to. That's still an opportunity for you to sell them the origin story. Why you got into this thing, an opportunity for them to fall in love with you, an opportunity for them to actually fall in love as to why they should li

Ep 98SFR 141: Profitable Webinar Sequences (Part 1)...
In this episode let's look at the Hook, Story, and Offer of 5 of the most profitable webinars... What's going on everyone? It's Steve Larsen, and you're listening to sales funnel radio. I've spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today, and now I've left my nine to five to take the plunge and build my million-dollar business. The real question is, how will I do it without VC funding or debt, completely from scratch?... This podcast is here to give you the answer. Join me and follow along as I learn, apply and share marketing strategies to grow my online business using only today's best internet sales funnels. My name is Steve Larsen, and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio... What's up everyone? Hey, I am excited for today. I'm excited to share some things with you. I actually have been preparing for this episode alone for, I think, at least a month. And I know that's kind of crazy, but honestly I've been trying to figure out and distill down how to actually share with you these lessons over an audio without actually visually seeing it. So, I'm excited to go through this. What I want to do is, I want to walk through, if you guys haven't noticed in the last little bit here, I'm going to talk about Russell Brunson again here, right? And if you noticed, especially those of you guys at the last FunnelHacking Live, Russell sold a 2 Comma Club coaching The X Program. It's amazing. It's incredible. We have tons of people in there. We took the program that we created about a year ago, and we made it this full-out, blown-out thing. We brought all the coaches in. And it's just been a bunch of fun. So, I have the incredible honor to continue to teach, offer creation and sales message development to all the new students. It's just been a lot of fun. The more I get into it, just like anything, I continue to learn. We don't teach the same thing every single time... I constantly look for new patterns, new ways not just to teach it, but to understand it and make it more and more simple and more and more applicable, and more and more ... The biggest thing I fight is, I treat every individual who bought the coaching program like they're my customer. Therefore, what are your false beliefs? What are the ways I can get you to learn the most?... So, anyways. If you notice, one of the first videos in there for those of you guys that were able to go in and grab it, you guys have probably seen this. It's an absolutely amazing video. For those of you guys who have not, I don't know when Russell will open up 2 Comma Club coaching X again, but seriously look into it, okay? I'm blown away... I've never seen him create an offer like this and it's just been amazing... So, anyways, one of the first videos you see when you log into these ... It's part of the core training, before you come over to my course which is Secrets Master class, is this training that Russell does about the hook, the story, and the offer. He actually did a podcast episode about this recently as well. In all things, all we're trying to do is make things more and more and more simple. In a world where sometimes we confuse complexity with prestige, which is stupid. That's not true at all, okay? Needing to sound smart, that's not serving anybody except your own self, which ultimately doesn't serve you ever. We try and make it more and more and more and more simple. It's actually harder to make things more simple, to bring things down to a place where it's like, "Look, you need this, this, and that." For my little 15 minute speech I gave at FunnelHacking Live, I prepared for nine hours. Seriously, nine hours for 15 minutes. I remember I voxed Russell and I was like, "Dude, 15 minutes, man. It took me nine hours," and he was laughing and he was like, "Yeah, that's the price of simplicity." And it's so true... So, anyways, what I wanted to do is, I want to show you that framework all over the place. If you look at some of the most profitable webinar follow-up sequences ever, I want you to know the hook, story, and offer pattern is everywhere. It's not just hook for sales message as a whole. It's not just story for the entire thing as a whole. It's not just offer for the entire thing you're trying to sell. It's in every little aspect, every little piece. So, what I did a little while ago is, you guys know January I left Click Funnels, and I was like, "Hey, I'm going to call my shot here." This is pretty nervous. I left Click Funnels with no offer, no message, I had no funnel, nothing. Two kids and a pregnant wife. That's part of my hook, me telling you that right now. It's like, "Holy crap, what did you do?" House payment, payments all over the place, that's pretty ballsy, right? That's why I was doing it. I was trying to call my own shot with it, and say where I was going to go and make my story for it... Which is exactly right, hook, story, and then I put together an offer. What I did is, when I first launched my webinar, I launched it, I did just

Ep 98SFR 139: Walt Disney's Stack Slide...
I wanna dive deep into Disney's offer... What's going on everyone it's Steve Larsen and you're listening to Sales Funnel Radio... I've spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today. And now I've left my 9-5 to take the plunge and build my million dollar business. The real question is, how will I do it without VC funding or debt, completely from scratch? This podcast is here to give you the answer... Join me and follow along as I learn, apply, and share marketing strategies to grow my online business, using only today's best internet sales funnels. My Name is Steve Larsen and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio. What's up, guys? Hey, just barely got back from Disneyland and it was a bunch of fun. Brought the whole family over and had our first kind of real vacation ever, and it was a lot of fun. We went and we stayed at a Disneyland hotel and it was kind of nice, especially with little ones. We could kind of monorail in and out of the park when we wanted to and get in an hour early. Anyway, even with a four-year-old and a two-year-old and my wife being pregnant, we still pretty much went on every single ride at Disneyland and California Adventure. And it was just a bunch of fun. It was really fun to go do that... And as we were walking around my wife and I could not help but just kind of contemplate the crazy journey we've been on for the past two years and just to look backward and go, "Oh my gosh. Two years ago there's no way we could have afforded this for all the things we were doing and the experiences." I always read stories, I always heard stories of guys that'd be like, "Yeah, man I went on vacation. I made more money on vacation then we spent to get on there, and we spent a lot." And I was almost in disbelief. I would listen to those stories and be like, "Okay, that's cool for that guy, there's no way I'll ever do that." Or I had to work from that place to believe to a spot where I felt like I could actually do that. And it was crazy because it happened. It was amazing. I'd be on a ride, I'd come out and be like, "Well, got seven more sales on that ride." It's crazy how much, anyway... So if you're like, "Man Steven, I don't know if this stuff can work or whatever." Just use myself as a point of reference an realize that oh my gosh it's completely doable for wherever you are. And keep moving forward on it. One of the fastest paths to cash that I've ever found ever is selling info products, and doing it through webinars. You guys know that you guys know I'm a huge advocate of that, and obviously using Click Funnels to do so... Anyway, it was fascinating though to walk around and see that and look at that. And we'd be like, "Man, we just spent like $100 more just to go hang out with Goofy one morning." You know what I mean? Just like really interesting stuff that we would never have been able to do that kind of stuff. I mean overall, it was like five grand but it was a ton of fun and it was really, really cool to have that experience with the family, with the kids. And more importantly, I think it was just this really cool milestone for my wife and I, and what we've been doing, and what I've been working on, and all the stuff that we've been doing and going forward on it. It was cool, it was very rewarding. Very, very rewarding to sit back and be like, "Holy crap." It's the first time I really stopped... I felt like I was in a bit of a funk there for a little bit and I talked to Russel about it and he was like, "Dude, we've been running hard for so long, this is the first time we've had a chance to breathe." It's like maybe that's it... So, anyway, it was a bunch of fun. Totally got rejuvenated. Very excited for the day. Got a chance to get up work out this morning, do my hit training and scream like crazy on Instagram. If you guys aren't following me on there I think you guys would like it. I get to do really official episodes and thoughts here, however, a lot of the smaller day-to-day things and isms that I'm going through and learning I like to drop on Instagram now, so anyway, would love to have you guys follow me there if you want to. It's Steve Larsen HQ, that's my handle... Hey, I wanted to drop something out to you guys here. There was an interesting question that kept getting asked right before I left actually. It was about a couple of weeks ago, two weeks ago. We were there for a week. And right beforehand some interesting questions started getting asked, and one of them was, Steven, how did you get so good at offer creation?... And I just said the answer, "It's practicing." I practice offer creation like someone would practice their sport, I do, I practice it. It's one of my favorite things to do on an airplane, for some reason. Put some music on, for some reason, 30,000 feet, little caffeine and some dubstep, man you can make some sweet offers. But I'll do that a lot. I do it a lot for the eComm space a lot. That's a fun one to practice on. I'll pick a random industr

Ep 98SFR 140: Value Isn't the Offer...
Let's dive into WHAT gets you paid. It's not the offer!... Hey. What's going on, everyone? This is Steve Larsen. You're listening to probably one of my favorite episodes of Sales Funnel Radio so far. I've spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today. Now, I've left my nine to five to take the plunge and build my million dollar business. The real question is, how will I do it without VC funding or debt? Completely from scratch? This podcast is here to give you the answer. Join me and follow along as I learn, apply and share marketing strategies to grow my online business using only today's best internet sales funnels. My name is Steve Larsen and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio... What's up, guys? Hey, I know probably every episode is my favorite episode when I'm doing it. Anyway, this is one of the core reasons and ways to actually make more money... What? Hopefully, that's an exciting topic for you. Hey. Next to me to my right right now, it's a chest. I've got a bunch of random stuff in there. Some guns in there. Frankly, it's extremely very thin, brittle chest. It's slightly painted green. There's these little latches on it that are all rusted out. Frankly, it looks like a piece of junk. It does. For right now in today's value, you probably wouldn't get much for this, which is interesting. How many guys want to buy it? I would love to maybe ship it out to you if you guys want to buy it. Anyway, that'd be really, really awesome if you guys want to purchase it. You're like, "What, Steve? Are you kidding me?" All right. Let me shift it up for you now. Let me tell you that this chest belonged to Captain Wayne Kartchner, an ancestor of mine. This thing is old, guys. This is an heirloom. It's next to me. it's rusted out. I do keep a few things in it but it's next to me here. Captain Wayne Kartchner. I've got several military members that have been in my bloodline, which is part of why I went into as well for myself. Interesting. How many guys want to buy it now? Would you be shocked if the price that I sold this for after telling you that story would be a little bit higher? No. It wouldn't shock you, would it? It would not shock you at all that I'd actually charge more money for that. Hey. I've got some pieces of dead tree over here. It's awesome. There's some blank ink on them. It's a book. Anyway, how many guys want it? Sweet. Sweet. Cool. You know, I'm going to sell it for 100 bucks. If you guys want it, just message me right now. Is that cool? All right. What if I was to tell you that this one book has made me a butt ton of money and has actually given me the life that I have been wanting really, really bad? Cool. Is it worth 795? You guys get what I'm getting at? Hopefully, you are. One of the questions I've been getting a lot lately... Some guy wrote out and he said, "Hey. This is one of the topics I've been pounding on a lot lately for my coaching students." I wanted to be able to go in and I wanted to teach you guys the same thing. This is important. This is very important... What I want you to know is we're about offer creation. Offer creation and storytelling. Those are the only two things that I really care about anymore. Okay? Those are the two most lucrative skillsets I can even think of. The farther I follow this rabbit hole down, the farther I've realized, the more I've realized that that's really it. That's really it... I don't have to be an amazing, creative individual with Photoshop. I like Photoshop. I don't have to be an amazing, creative individual with ... I don't have to know how to code. There's a lot of people that know how to do this. Okay. I can outsource all that stuff but the thing that I cannot outsource very well is this whole storytelling offer creation piece. Why? Why?.. Let me tell you a story real quick. A man walks down the street. It's actually an alley. He walks down the street. He's creeping. He gets shot and dies. Okay? Let me switch it up for you though and give you some context. It's a war zone and he's a soldier. Okay? Huh? Right? In one second, you might think that someone was murdered. In another, you might think that they were just killed in the battle zone. Fascinating context. Context is everything. Context is what actually delivers value. Okay? Offers is not where value is created... I want you to know that. That's what I'm trying to tell you. I'm trying to help you guys. Look around at these objects that are around you. One of my favorite stories is a story of this violin. I don't know if it's true or not. It's a movie. You guys might know it. This movie where this violin is being shown. It's at an auction. They're auctioning off this super old violin. Somebody's like, "Yeah. I don't remember the price once were but it was super low." Everyone's like, "Really?" The auctioneer's like, "You only paid that much for it and no one would go any higher." Suddenly, this old gentleman just starts walking up to the front of the room. He takes th

Ep 98SFR 138: Ed Bordi's Incredible Story...
Most of us never said, "I wanna be a marketer" when we were 7. I'm come learn from Ed's persistence and watch how his new business is blowing up!... What's going on everyone this is Steve Larsen and you're listening to Sales Funnel Radio. I've spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today and now I've left my 9 to 5, to take the plunge and build my million dollar business. The real question is: how will I do it without VC funding or debt completely from scratch? This podcast is here to give you the answer. Join me and follow along as I learn, apply, and share marketing strategies to grow my online business. Using only today's best internet sales funnels. My name is Steve Larsen and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio... Hey, how's it going everyone. Real quick, I've got a really special treat for you guys here today and before I introduce our special guest I don't know how long it was ago, maybe four, five, six months ago I was walking down the street with Russell in Vegas and we had just gone to some convention. I don't actually remember what it was but we were walking down the street and there was a moment where he and I were chatting and I said, "Russell, is it interesting that we have the best of the best tools that have ever been available ever? ...The best of the best training. The best of the best coaching. The best of the best of all these different things. The insights. What really does it come down to, then, to a person taking action?" We were chatting about that and I said, "I think it has to do with just belief. Just telling stories of people who are actually doing it. Telling stories of people who have actually gone through and figured it out and gone through what looks like is kind of the mire for a little while but really is not." Anyways, I'm excited to have our guest on today who has done incredible things and, anyway, we were at a master mind right before Funnel Hacking live and this gentleman was here and I saw him, heard him speak, and immediately thought I've got to interview this gentleman. Lot of respect for him even for just the brief amount of time that we were able to meet together. Anyways his name is Edward Bordi. Ed, how you doing man? Ed Bordi: I'm doing great. Thanks for having me. Steve Larsen: Awesome. Yeah, yeah. I'm glad that you're here. Thanks for jumping on the show with us. Ed Bordi: Of course. Steve Larsen: You were telling this story. You were telling a little bit about your backstory and it's what pulled me to you, to be honest. I don't know, led me to you, and I think it's inspiring for other people to hear. ...Do you mind sharing a little bit about your backstory and how you got into this whole internet entrepreneurship game? Ed Bordi: Yeah, no, sure. Actually, it was about 10 years ago when I just stumbled into it really. I was working in a corporate environment, had a 9 to 5 job and my career goals for a long time, back then, were to climb the corporate ladder. I had planned on becoming an executive in the company I was in and that's the path I was taking. My company had paid for me to go back to school and get my masters. I did some study at Wharton Business School. I studied marketing and I was taking that path and in the middle of that process I had a situation happen at home. My wife had, she had become ill. She had develop a chronic illness that had made her bedridden. Probably 80% of her day was stuck in bed and that put a monkey wrench in our whole life, really. My plans were the least of my worries as the point, it was just at that time just taking care of my family and I had babies at the time... I had a like a five year old and a newborn when this happened. I put my career on hold and just was focusing on taking care of my family. I really wanted to do something more and especially now because of the situation that I had in my life. I wanted to have more freedom because I ended up having to work from home full time to take care of my wife, plus do a full time job. I was always thinking, I really wanted to be able to, if I could, have my own business. Maybe work from home, not have somebody else dictate my time and my hours and all that so I was always thinking about what I could do and I really had no idea at the time what internet marketing was or being able to have my own business for working from home. I just had no idea... I heard this ad on the radio. It was, I'll never forget it, I mean I can literally hear the guys voice right now. His name was Andy Willoughby and he had this program called the Three Step Plan. I listened to him every single day as my morning routine. ...You know, "Hey, this is Andy Willoughby and how in the world are you?" Anyway, that was the way he started his radio pitch and then he went off and he talked about ... Yeah. It was just, it was catchy and it was all about working from home. I think months probably passed, I heard this radio ad over and over again and I just called him up one day. I'm like,

Ep 98SFR 137: Noah Lenz Shares His Funnel Building Process...
For 6 months I've developed a friendship with Noah, and had deep "funnel-doctrine" conversations with him, only find out (3 weeks ago) that he's 12 years old! Very impressive individual... Hey, what's going on everyone? This is Steve Larsen and you're listening to a very special episode of Sales Funnel Radio... I've spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today. And now I've left my 9:00 to 5:00 to take the plunge and build my million dollar business. The real question is how will I do it without VC funding or debt completely from scratch? This podcast is here to give you the answer. Join me and follow along as I learn, apply, and share marketing strategies to grow my online business using only today's best internet sales funnels. My name is Steve Larsen and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio... Hey what's up, guys? I am very, very excited for today. This is ... You guys got a treat ready for you today. This is going to be a lot of fun. There's been a lot of times when I've been holding my little ones or I'm the oldest of six kids, actually, and it's pretty fascinating to see the wisdom that comes from anywhere around us... Wisdom has no age limits. Wisdom has no bounds. And I do a lot of live funnel builds and I don't know if you guys have had the chance to join me on that and actually build a sales funnel live with me. Well, there was this one occasion ... and this will help set the stage for this very special individual who's coming on with me in just a moment. But I was building this sales funnel one time and then there was one guy on there who was just really interactive with me. And was pretty much over typing, finishing my sentences. I remember one instance went and looked up the URL of the funnel that I was building live in front of everybody ... went to that and logged in and actually opted in to that funnel as I was building it live in front of everybody. It was hilarious. It made me laugh really, really hard. I had no idea that it was a 12 year old. And until literally we met at Funnel Hacking Live. And it astounded me. When I was 12 years old, I think I was eating gummy bears and playing Halo. That's it. So it's amazing to me to see the actual wisdom, the incredible ... so advanced compared to what I was doing when I was 12 years old. So anyways, I have incredible respect for this individual. Very, very ... And we've honestly become great friends the past little bit here and it's been really fun to see his journey. But I want to, guys, welcome to the show Noah Lenz. Noah, how are you doing buddy? Noah Lenz: I'm doing great. Awesome to be here today on Sales Funnel Radio. Steve Larsen: It's good to have you. It's very good to have you. That time when you were dancing circles around me while I was building these funnels live. I was like man, who is this guy? This is awesome. I was like whoa. That's incredible. Noah Lenz: Yeah, I listen to the show all the time. I'm at school and it's like new Sales Funnel Radio episode. I'm going to listen to this at lunch. Okay, good, good, good. I don't need to wait until I get home. And it's so awesome to actually be on the show right now. I always listen to it but to be on the show, it's just amazing. Steve Larsen: You're an inspiration. And I know that every person is going to be ... will kill me if I don't ask the question, how on earth did you get started doing this? This is not a normal thing for a 12 year old to do? It's amazing. Noah Lenz: That is literally the most common question I get asked. Steve Larsen: I'm sure. Noah Lenz: In terms of the whole entrepreneurship game, I'm not really sure what drew me to it entirely. But when I was about eight-ish, I really got into the business of making websites using WordPress and all that. ...And I eventually, my dad's like you need to start making some money off this, start doing it for some other people. My first one was actually for a political candidate in the local area. And I made a website for him and all that. And then, about a year ago I saw video from who is now my good friend and mentor, and I actually build funnels for him, Caleb Maddix. And everybody needs to read the book Dot Com Secrets. And like okay, I'll go do it. And it turns out we already had the book on our bookshelf so that night I literally ... I could not put the thing down... It's like oh my gosh. You can have a one click upsell. You don't even need to type in their credit card. Oh my gosh. And I just got so, so into it. And eventually, I'm like how can I do this? Hmm. And I had ideas going in my mind about what different funnels I could build. But I was never crazy about it for a while. And then, eventually I remembered that a while back I had done a website for this political candidate. And I'm like I really liked doing websites for political candidates. It's things that were kind of easy to deal with. It's the same type thing. I need to get serious about this... So I was thinking how could I do this? I could se

Ep 98SFR 135: The Cash In Being Present...
It's been said that 80% of success is just showing up. If you haven't made a sale yet... that may be the issue! What's going on everyone? This is Steve Larsen, and you're listening to Sales Funnel Radio. I've spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today. And now, I've left my nine to five to take the plunge and build my million-dollar business. The real question is, how will I do it without VC funding or debt? Completely from scratch? This podcast is here to give you the answer. Join me, and follow along, as I learn, apply and share marketing strategies to grow my online business, using only today's best internet sales funnels. My name is Steve Larsen and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio. What's up guys? Hopefully everyone's doing great. I've been outside today, it's a Saturday, putting together this episode. Been outside. A lot of you guys might know this, actually, most of you probably don't: I actually really like yard work, which sounds weird, as a teenager I would have never said that in my life. But I do. I was the oldest, which meant I did a lot of the yard work. Oldest of six kids, so growing up I did a lot of yard work. And for a while I hated it and then, realize though, for whatever reason now, especially too, it's almost therapeutic, for me to just get outside, work with my hands. Almost all my jobs growing up were labor jobs; physical labor jobs, things like that. I like working with my hands. Anyway, so I was outside, I just chopped a tree down in our backyard, which is awesome, I'm doing a whole bunch of stuff. Anyway, I'm fixing our pond, a lot of stuff. I really love doing that kind of stuff. Anyway, I was outside just a few minutes ago, maybe like two hours ago, but I was outside. I was mowing the lawn, I was trimming the hedges, all the stuff I... Usually I'll either listen to music and just zone out, which typically for me is just as advantageous as me listening to a chorus: the chance to have nothing going on in my head and just let my mind drift. And that's one of the reasons why I like it so much. Anyway, so I was out there and out of the corner of my eye, I saw the most incredible opportunity start walking up to me. I love it when this happens. There was a door-to-door salesman, he was walking on up, all awkward like. We saw each other, he was trying to ... does he call out from far away? Does he kind of sneak on up? I love talking to door-to-door salesman because I was one, right? So he starts walking up, and I'm listening to Foo Fighters. I'm blasting Foo Fighters, I'm trimming up the sides and stuff, and I'm just ... I was thinking ... I was thinking about a lot of different stuff. I was thinking, you know I'm a full-time nerd, and I'm very proud of it. I was thinking about offer creation and different things like that. Anyway, bunch of fun... Anyways, he walks on up, and he hands me this flyer. He just, I hate it when people just put things directly into my hands. Most people will take it, I don't. Whenever I'm in the mall, or whatever, and someone just walks by and just hands something to me, I don't take it. I put my hands up, I'm like, "What is this?" Anyway, so I did that... I was like, "Well, what is it?" He goes, and he starts talking. He's like, "Well, yeah, I do spot removal on like carpets, things like that. We're going to be here real soon, and want to see who else in the area wants to get it." I was like, "Sweet, that was very similar to the pitch I used to give, and it worked really, really well." And I was thinking about it, I was like oh my gosh, this is so cool. My wife and I just barely were talking about how we want our carpets cleaned. Right, we've lived in this house for a year now, we should clean the carpets, you know. We got a new little one on the way, in like a month, and ... Or month and a half-ish. We're just trying to prep things around the house. This our third kid, we know everything kind of goes into a coma. You're just trying to survive the first month or two with a newborn. Sort of like, hey, we should have the carpets cleaned. Oh, sweet. That's awesome, do you do full service? And he said, "Yes, yes, I do actually." I said, "Cool, how much do you charge?" And he told me very briefly in just like one sentence what it was that he does, what's different about him, and how much he charges, and I was like, gosh, thank you for getting right to the point. I'm asking a buying question. The guy identified it, and he immediately gave me a very fast answer of what I wanted, and let me started asking the questions. And finally, which is super cool, because he did not turn around, and he did not lead with his, he did not lead with this super expensive thing. And even then it wasn't actually that much money. He's gonna clean the carpets, and such, soon. And I almost was selling him on it, 'k ... He lead with what was the lowest barrier thing that he had, spot removal. Right, it's not an even full out carpet cleaning. Spot removal, tha

Ep 98SFR 134: Questions Invite Revelation...
Good questions get good answers. Yet, the opposite is true as well. Solving marketing problems starts with checking that your asking the right questions... I'm Steve Larsen. This is Sales Funnel Radio, and this episode is gonna just totally rock. It's pretty freaking awesome. I spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today. And now I've left my nine-to-five to take the plunge and build my million dollar business. The real question is, how will I do it without VC Funding or debt, completely from scratch. This podcast is here to give you the answer. Join me and follow along as I learn, apply and share marketing strategies to grow my online business using only today's best internet sales funnels. My name is Steve Larsen and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio. What's up guys. Hey, I'm very excited for this episode to be honest though. It's funny as I look back I officially got hired by ClickFunnels two years ago almost to the day of me recording this. Which is awesome. Super, super cool. And essentially when I look back and realize everything that's happened, and a lot of you guys come up and congratulate and stuff like that and that means a lot and I appreciate it. But what's been more powerful for me is to look back and see what I had to do personally to really start winning at the game. You know what I mean? One of my favorite things that were said in this last Funnel Hacking Live is by Myron Golden, which he just said he'd get on the show, which I'm very excited about. So when that happens obviously, anyway, super stoked about that. But he said that one of the things that he did to win is he just stayed in the game long enough to just know what the game was, you know what I mean? He stayed in the game long enough to be able to actually win at the game. And sometimes people jump in like, "This is a scam." Right? But they were in there for like three months. I've been going at it for like five, six years there, guys and been a ton of fun, really enjoyed it, specifically the Internet game anyway. Anyway, as I was kind of looking back, I've been thinking heavily along the time when we were broke. I mean we were just living paycheck to paycheck. We're literally living on loans, you know what I mean?... A lot of guys know my story, the way it started. We were getting these student loans because it was the way we were eating. And then finally I was like, "Man, I gotta make some money...." And so I started flipping real estate And there were some complexities with where I was living that weren't allowing how I was doing it. I was doing some double escrows and flipping it that way, it's tons of fun. Put out those street signs all over the place, had 300 people call me in a month and anyways, I was working my butt off. I've never really not. I just keep moving and make mistakes of commission instead of omission, you know what I mean? so I was sitting back and I was thinking through and there are these times, I guess multiple times and I'm sure that if you really have been wanting this, you've had the same thought. And I guess I'm religious and I'd be kneeling down at night praying and I'm asking God like, "Why am I struggling so much? Like, why? Why am I struggling so much? How come I haven't made it yet? Right? How come I ...?" Those are the questions I was asking and it took some internal maturing for me to sit back and realize that number one, that's a stupid question to ask. And number two, what was I doing about it? And I was active, I was in motion, I was learning like crazy. I hustled my butt off, went and joined the army so we could eat, you know. And I had a ton of fun there and learned like crazy and a lot of self discovery for sure. I certainly enjoyed my time there. Glad to finally be out of it, but glad that I did it though. Anyway, I had this guy tell me about 10 years ago, I went on a mission for my church for about two years and you know, he's a guy, we call him the mission president and he's the guy over all of us and he always taught us this one thing. And I had this come to my mind couple of weeks ago as somebody asked me, they were considering joining the Two Comma Club ex coaching program and it was at the Funnel Hacking Live event, if you know what I'm talking about, go buy your ticket for next year. Okay? It's, it's one of the best investments you'll ever make... That event solely has changed my life... There's not a doubt in my mind. I've a marketing degree and four Funnel Hacking Live events, I can tell you I've learned way more doing that, than I have in the marketing degree. Not that I'm not thankful for that either, but anyway. But I had this idea, this mission president, he reached out when I did a two year mission for my church. Because I'm talking about those guys were in the white tee shirt and ties with the name badges on bikes. I did that for two years when I was 20 years old. He always taught us that the questions invite revelation. Now I understand that from

Ep 98SFR 133: Choosing a MONEY Audience...
I get asked a lot, "Steve, how do I choose what market to sell into?" Well, here's some of the basic criteria I put an audience through to see if I should sell to them... Hey. What's going on everyone? This is Steve Larsen, and you're listening to Sales Funnel Radio. I've spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today, and now I've left my 9 to 5 to take the plunge and build my million-dollar business. The real question is how will I do it without VC funding or debt, completely from scratch? This podcast is here to give you the answer. Join me and follow along as I learn, apply and share marketing strategies to grow my online business using only today's best internet sales funnels. My name is Steve Larsen, and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio. What's up guys? Hey. I'm super excited for this. I know I'm publishing a lot right now. It's because I have a lot of thoughts, especially after Funnel Hacking Live. That is like throwing gas on the fire for my brain, and I love it. Hey. I am very, very excited for what I want to share with you. I sat back a while ago, and I was sitting down. I was thinking through how many businesses I had tried before ever actually getting one that really started going off the ground. As I looked back and I started realizing it's like, I don't know, 14, 15, 16, 17. I mean, it's a lot. I was going through and I was numbering all the products I had created. I was like, wow, okay, I kind of first started with this one. Then I went to this one. I was like, wow, it's really fascinating. To look back. I encourage you all to do this. I seriously, seriously doubt, and almost bet on my life that I am not the only one who's tried a billion different products, lots of different businesses and failed at a ton of them, meaning of this audience who listens to this. I encourage you to go sit down and start writing those down. It's kind of a neat thing to look back and realize, like why did that fail? Why did that fail? Why did that fail? One of the lessons that I've learned was tossed back into my head. I've had a few people asking me a few questions lately, especially with the recent program, Two-Comma Club X Coaching, that I'm one of the coaches for and that ClickFunnel has just released. A lot of people have been coming to me saying, "Hey, Steven, is this a good idea? Is this a good market? Is this a good product?" Well, first off, I'm not going to know your industry like you are, okay, but I do know the models and patterns that show if it is something typically good to go into usually. Okay, okay. When it comes down to it, like we can teach the models, we can teach the patterns and then after awhile it's guessing. You know, you just have to launch it after awhile and just see if it actually sticks. There's a lot of patterns and stuff that we can walk through to help shave off bad ideas. Anyway, I was recently talking with someone and I had this memory come to my head. Back before I started using ClickFunnels and I was building funnels inside of GetResponse, literally, like the email provider, right, GetResponse autoresponder. They have a landing page software, and I was building essentially funnels on their landing page software. It was terrible. It was so jenky. Anyway, I would like sneeze and half of it would get scrambled. It was the weirdest thing. Anyway, but it's all I had, so I was trying to do that. It's very much part of my character that as soon as I start selling something or as soon as I've learned something and I know it can help other people, I want to go tell them about it. Say, did you know you can do this? Oh my gosh! Check it out? Right? Which is why I think I podcast the way I do. Anyway, one of the people that I wanted to go present this to was a door-to-door company, okay, a door-to-door selling company. I had already done one summer of door-to-door sales at that time, and Vivint, like Vivint Home Security. They had a huge office near the place where I was living at the time. This was six years ago. It was quite a while ago. Five years ago, six years ago, something like that. Anyway, so I walked on in to Vivint and I sat down with some of the owners. It wasn't the "owners" of Vivint, but it was before their massive buyout. They got bought for like $2.4 billion or something for only like 75% of their company. They still maintained 25%, which is crazy. Crazy! Oh my gosh! Can you imagine that? Anyways, it very well may have been some of the top guys because that buyout had not happened yet at the time. Anyway, so I was chatting with them and I was telling them, hey, did you know, you've got these sales agents that are out there doing this and that, right, these reps that are going around. Think about the cost of supporting a rep. Think about this. I could build you this thing that I'm doing called a funnel and we could like totally ... and I started giving them my ideas of basically and front-end funnel, super awesome. I ended up buying like doortodoor

Ep 98SFR 132: The Natural Flaw In 'Ask Campaign's' (and what to do about it)...
I LOVE 'Ask Campaigns'! But there's a build-in flaw... What's going on, everyone? It's Steve Larsen and you're listening to a very energetic, high speed, fast-paced episode of Sales Funnel Radio. I've spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today, and now I've left my nine-to-five to take the plunge and build my million dollar business. What's up, everyone? Hey, I'm super excited to dive into this episode today with you. I just wanted to go through real quick and help you understand one of the reasons ... I get a lot of people who reach out to me and they'll be like ... Well, here's an example. I brought 700 people so far, 700 about, it's like 680 or something like that, through the current Two Comma Club Coaching Program and, if you guys are part of Funnel Hacking Live, you know that there is a new program that is out, which is awesome, and there's hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of people who are jumping in as well. Very, very excited to have you guys, by the way. I can help you guys set up your offers, things like that. Anyways, I'm excited to have you here, it'll be awesome. And then I have my own students. Here's the scenario, you spend a ton of time, you build a funnel, you're spending time in the editor. You put together this copy and these videos and you're getting together the traffic, you're building up some buzz for it, and you go and you launch this funnel. You're running ask campaigns and you're reacting to what the market is telling you to do, and then suddenly you realize that, oh my gosh, the funnel's not actually gonna work. It's a scam. Steve, one of those massive eyeballs. He's not delivering. You're like, what? I wanna tell you why that easily is. I don't wanna tell you why it typically is that even when ... When I was working at Click Funnels, when Russel and I would launch a funnel it wouldn't work the first time. Here's one of the reasons why. It has to do with the way that the offer came about. It has to do with the way, especially if you're creating an opportunity switch. I had the honor and privilege to do a round table at Funnel Hacking Live and this topic came up, and I realized that I don't know if I've really talked or discussed about this with you guys and somebody asked, what do you do when your funnel doesn't work? I was sitting there and I was pretty much yelling for three hours. It was the fastest three hours of my life, by the way. I love coaching. I just had no idea three hours went by. I had people around me the whole time and it was so loud in there I was yelling so that everyone could hear. My throat was killing me at the end but it was a ton of fun. Anyway, it pretty much goes like this. When my wife and I were expecting our first child, meaning literally we went to the hospital and she was about to have the kid, we were in the delivery room, and I first of all want to give the caveat that I recommend you never do this, ever, men. We were in there and she needed to be induced. Nothing had started yet. We had already been in there, we'd spent the night in there, and nothing had started yet. We were just kinda hanging out. Sometimes it's kinda long waits inside those rooms before the delivery action actually happens. Super special and a great experience. Anyway, I was sitting there and ... at the time, I can't remember what I was trying to sell, but I was trying to sell something or I was gonna go make a product. I didn't know about offers yet. I was gonna go make this product and at the time, Noah Kagan, if you know who Noah Kagan is, Noah Kagan had this thing at that time where he would help you make your first $1000 on the internet, but you could text him personally before you actually bought, with any final questions. I was like, hey that's kinda cool. So I decided I would text him. I'm sitting there in the delivery room. Nothing's happening yet, there's nothing going on. I'm not that kind of schmuck, but don't do this guys. I was sitting there and I decided that I would text Noah Kagan. I'm texting Noah Kagan and I'm like, hey man, I got this sweet idea and I would love to be able to go and build it. Do you think it's a good idea? He goes, I don't know. I was like, what do you mean? Is this a good idea? He's like, look man, I let people vote with their wallets. I don't care what they say with their mouths. I was like, huh. That makes so much sense. How come I never thought of that before? This is like four and a half years ago now. I was like, oh yeah, that makes complete sense. Why would I care about anything? You know? Now, think about it. What's the thing we teach you to go do to start un

Ep 98SFR 131: Assets To Collect BEFORE Funnel Building...
Jumping straight into ClickFunnels after having an idea is actually the wrong order to go... Hey, what's going on everyone? This is Steve Larsen and you're listening to Sales Funnel Radio. I've spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today, and now I've left my 9-5 to take the plunge and build my million dollar business. The real question is, how will I do it without VC Funding or debt, completely from scratch? This podcast is here to give you the answer. Join me and follow along as I learn, apply, and share marketing strategies to grow my online business. Using only today's best internet sales funnels. My name is Steve Larsen and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio. What's up everyone? Hey, I wanted to ... This is a bit of a special episode, I did a Facebook live recently, it was crazy within like a few hours there was like over 600 views on it and it got shared and tons of comments. Anyway, what I was doing is I wanted people to understand more about the order that I go through to launch my funnels, and this is important for you to understand because I feel like people do it backwards like crazy and it drives me nuts and this is one of those areas where I recently have had a lot of clarity and really has helped me to know when to suggest to people that they're ready to start the funnel building stage, okay. Because I feel like one of the major errors people make is that the first thing they do is they jump into Click Funnels and start building something, but they don't even know what they're building and then when they build it they don't have the sales and so I'm trying to ... What I want you to do is ... I would take notes on this. It's really just three steps, three phases that you'll be able to see clearly in this or here. So, what I did is, I did a Facebook live kind of deep diving into it, it's only like 10 minutes long or whatever. But, I feel like it's gonna help bring some clarity on when to build the funnel, and when to not build the funnel, when you're not ready to go to that stage yet. If you wanna know how, "Stephen, how did you build so many funnels so fast?" Well, it's because ... Building a funnel was really step three every time, step ones and twos were already done and so I could just do step three build, build, build, build, build, build, build, build, Right, does that make sense? Anyway, so, I hope that you will be able to enjoy this. Let me queue it over here right now and I hope that you enjoy more of ... I just hope that it helps you understand more of the order that I funnel build in. I know I've already said that but this will be powerful because the first time I every did this it did not go well on my own and it's because I did not understand these core pieces and elements of funnel building itself. This is the order that I get my funnels off the ground, okay? The first time I ever built a funnel that actually went really well, it was probably like my fifth funnel. And I went through and ... This was like four, five years ago and I went and I was building these funnels right? And I was putting this stuff out there and I originally was doing it in WordPress. Terrible, right? Terrible experience, it was awful. I was building it all in WordPress and I was building funnels for ... Actually, I built this funnel for this artist and it actually went really, really well. It was technically an eCom site but the way we were trying to sell it was a little bit funnel-ish. It was before Click Funnels ever existed. And then I went through and I was building funnels for people with Get Response, their landing page software, okay? It was ... It's rough, oh my gosh, like actually using Get Response landing page software in a funnel scenario. It was like, "Oh my gosh, it was nuts." So, when I saw Click Funnels like a few months after it came out, I was like, "This is freaking awesome, are you kidding me I've been trying to do all this stuff by hand and these other scenarios are super, super hard." I was like, "This is crazy." So, we went out and my buddy and I Coulton, who's now my assistant, high-ticket salesperson. We're trying to come up with all the crazy names, part-time sushi chef, snake enchanter. I don't know. He's one of my best friends and he's in this game with me now, which is funny, full-circle it's been this way. But like years ago we built this funnel using Click Funnels, right? And we didn't have money to get something like Click Funnels. $97 a month felt like this insurmountable amount of money and we're like, "Oh my gosh that's, are you kidding? $97? I see the value. I see, but I don't have $97 a month." You know? And I was like, "How do I do this?" And so what we did was we decided that we would, and I was like, "Grrr." I was reading a lot of Robert Kiyosaki at the time and I was like, "Robert Kiyosaki always says that poor people say, 'I can't afford it', and rich people say, 'how can I afford it?'" And I was like, "I'm gonna try and practice this." Right

Ep 98SFR 130:The CORE Of A Funnel...
This is the extended version of what I taught at Funnel Hacking Live 2018. There are TWO parts to a funnel's core... What’s going on everyone? It’s Steve Larsen and you’re listening to Sales Funnel Radio. I’ve spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today. And now, I’ve left my 9 to 5 to take the plunge and build my million dollar business. The real question is, how would I do it, without VC funding or debt, completely from scratch? This podcast is here to give you the answer. Join me and follow along as I learned, apply, and share marketing strategies to grow my online business, using only today's Internet best sales funnels. My name is Steve Larsen, and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio. I am so excited for this episode. I've been dying to record it. I feel like it's going to be one of the episodes that I look back on and I'm like, “man that was one of the Hallmark, amazing episodes of sales Funnel Radio.” You know what I mean? 10 years from now, hopefully this show is still going, but I feel like I look back and be like, “man, that was one of them. That was one of the ones that made it click for a lot of people.” It's one of the things that made a click for me, and anyway, I'm excited to share with you. It all kind of started honestly, well, how should I say this? How far back you want to go? Lets see, I was born in 1988. No. So, it's been it’s been a lot of fun working with Russell because, what is fun about it is, I feel like he and I are probably some of the only people on planet earth that geek out at the level that we do. And so, every time we see each other it's like a show and tell, like, “hey dude, check this out.” And he shows me, and we go through all the cool stuff he's doing. And I'm like, “yeah, check this out.” I tell him all the stuff I'm going through and doing, and the epiphanies that either or of us have had. And so anyway, I was chatting with him a little while ago, and that is when he was saying, “Hey, we want to get you on the funnel hacking live stage”, and I was like, “sweet.” Are you serious? Okay. That’d be awesome. And, which just ended, and I'm kind of backtracking a little, okay? I'm a little bit behind on recording these episodes. But I went and he said, “We want you to teach new offer creation in 10 minutes.” I was like, 10 minutes?! What? Oh my gosh! That's what I teach in 3 days at the fan event.” You know what I mean? Are you serious? Okay. Oh my gosh. So, I was sitting there in and the magic formula happened, which is caffeine and dubstep. I was pacing around my own office here and I remember. My head was just kind of subconsciously on this problem, and I love that. Because I will be in random places around the house, around wherever, and I'll have these epiphanies like, “oh my gosh! It's easier like that... Holy crap!” My head is constantly on these problems, you guys. I rarely think about anything else, which sounds like obsession, and it is, and I'm glad it is, okay. I sit and just kind of think. I told you guys a little while ago how I kind of brainstorm and come up with these ideas. I imagine them as these little threads and I kind of tug on them, see where they lead, and if it's like good then I just drop it and I go on to the next thing and try and find different possibilities for solving different problems. Anyway, I was thinking through. I was trying to distill down the 3 days into minutes. It was rough, it was rough. I was trying to work the problem, and figure out the different angles to teach it. I went into click funnels at like 10:00 at night the week before Funnel Live happened. I sat there and I was trying to do it for about 2 hours. I was doodling. For some reason if I can doodle it I know that I can teach it, and I know that it's a clear thing. And so that's the reason why I draw so many pictures. So, I was doodling and I was like, “oh my gosh.” I started having these epiphanies and they start coming faster, and faster, and faster, on the way to teach this. Well, next morning I'm back in the home office here, which is where I'm now, and I was standing in front of my white board and all of a sudden I had this, guys I don't know really how this happens but I will forget where I am. It actually makes me a little bit nervous because it's happening more frequently. Whatever I'm thinking of, that's where I physically feel like I am at that time. I will forget where I'm standing and I get kind of lost, in my head. 20 minutes will go by and I'll suddenly come to and realize that I've been standing in the corner of the room for a while. But I’ve been deep meditation and thought. It's a little bit weird and it's kind of happening more frequently. I'm kind of trying to get used it. So, I was in one of those little, I don't know what I'm going to call it, weirdness things. I was kind of zoning out a little bit. All of a sudden, I had this realization. One of the things that people struggle with the most when it comes to building funnels is,

Ep 98SFR 122: My New Auto Webinar Stats…
Click above to listen in iTunes... Yup, I just changed up the whole funnel. Here’s what happened What's going on, everyone? This is Steve Larsen and you're listening to Sales Funnel Radio. I've spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today. And now, I've left my 9-5 to take the plunge and build my million dollar business. The real question is, "How will I do it without VC funding or debt? Completely from scratch?" This podcast is here to give you the answer. Join me and follow along as I learn, apply, and share marketing strategies to grow my online business using only today's best internet sales funnels. My name is Steve Larsen and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio. What's up guys? I hope you like my new intro. Just had several of you guys reach out actually and say that you like it. And so, it means a lot. I take a long time to write those kinds of scripts when I know that I'm gonna hear them a billion times probably. But, I wanted to create more of a journey. More of a ... Anyway, I've talked about that a little bit in the past. I wanted to share with you a little bit more about my webinar and what I've been doing to it. I did a lot of stuff this week. It's been a crazy week. There were two days this week where I almost stayed up a full 24 hours just getting stuff done and working on it and the different aspects that I needed to crank out. It was ridiculous. And, I do not recommend that. In fact, I always think it's kind of weird when people are like, "Yeah, hashtag the hustle." You know? And, they stay up 24 hours all the time. But, it just wrecks your next day anyway. So, that never makes sense to me. Be smart with your health. Don't do that too often. Hey, what I want to share with you though is more about the webinar and the actual stats. I automated it. I already automated it. I know that a lot of people will probably ask me, "Steven, you always say to do it for seven months." Well, here's the thing. Before I actually launched the webinar, I tested it like crazy. I knew the messages were gonna work. I knew the offer was gonna work. It was all already tested before I actually pushed the button. You know what I mean? And so, I didn't start from complete scratch when I started to do my live webinars. I did it maybe 12 times and I still, that final time, I was still using the original script. And so, here's the thing guys. You gotta understand this. This is how I look at the webinar. This is the three phases of launching any product. The three phases... And, I didn't realize that this is what I do or even that Russell, that this is what he does, but this is what it is. We first ... This is three spots. We first figure out a sales message. Understand that I said, "Sales Message". I did not say, "Offer". I did not say, "Funnel". Now, 99% of the time Russell already knows what the sales message is going to be. He's done it so well. He's done it for so long. But, he understands right from the get go without really even thinking about it. He kind of starts from this place of sales message. Meaning, if he can sell it then we'll go make the offer. And, he already starts from those places ... So, this is how I did my webinar. My webinar. Phase number one is all about creating the sales message. I don't give a crap about the actual product or the offer until I know that I can sell the thing. Right? Does that make sense? And, I know a lot of people say, "Well, duh, Steven." Well, most of us don't do that though. We actually turn around and we're like, "Hey, what am I gonna sell?" Wrong question. The question is, "How will I sell it?" And, the problem is that when you start with an offer, when you actually start with the offer, the problem is that you become tethered by the offer when you're creating the sales message. Does that make sense? You create restrictions. You're not free. You're not liquid... You're not fluid to create whatever sales message you want... So, what I have been doing for a solid probably year before I actually launched my webinar, what I did is I actually went and I started testing the sales message. I created an entire second podcast show about it. And, I just started dropping out the stories. And, the ones that really resonated, I kind of took note of that. And, I was like, "Huh. That's the one that did it over here. Huh. Oh, that's interesting. That's the story that did it over here. Interesting. Oh, wow. They really like this one and they hated that one." And, I started testing sales message. Also, my story. And, when we actually get the story down, when we get the sales message down, whatever it is that gets people's butts out of their chairs and their wallets, and credit card in your hand, then you create an offer that fulfills the promises that you made in the sales message. Does that make sense? When you actually find the sales message that gets somebody off their butt and gets their wallet in your hand then you create the offer that fulfills whatever that sa

Ep 98SFR 121: Personal Vs Impersonal Knowledge
Why learning from my podcast is LESSER than learning from ME… What's going on everyone? This is Steve Larsen and you're listening to Sales Funnel Radio. I've spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today, and now I've left my nine to five to take the plunge and build my million dollar business. The real question is how will I do it without VC funding or debt completely from scratch? This podcast is here to give you the answer. Join me and follow along as I learn, apply, and share marketing strategies to grow my online business using only today's best internet sales funnels. My name is Steve Larsen and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio. What's up guys? I got a really cool episode for you guys here today. It is a crazy week, which means it's a normal week. There's a lot going on though. I mean we are in the pre-funnel hacking live stage and there's a lot to prepare for and a lot to go through. This week I am automating pieces of my webinar still, there's a whole bunch of assets I got to get to my traffic driver who I will interview here shortly for you guys so you can learn from her because she's amazing. All the flash drives I told you guys if you run up to me and say the magic word, which you have no idea what I'm talking about go back and listen to a few episodes ago, or actually I think it was last episode. Anyway, there's paying bills, I got to build an affiliate program, which I'm very pumped about for my program. I figured out a cool model where I can buy people an iMac, like those brand new ones that are $5,000... Anyway, we've got a cool affiliate program we put together, which is very, very awesome. Maybe I should tell you how I did that as well. Then I'm actually building out this really cool members area. I've been building out a lot of live funnels lately. One of the reasons why is because I was the lead funnel of their click funnels guys. I built almost one funnel a day. Literally that's what the numbers were. Almost one funnel a day was the average, which is crazy. The last few months of me being solo I have build one funnel, you know what I mean, there's only been one, I guess two, there's been two revenue funnels. There's been a few management funnels, but my entire focus is just on one single sales funnel, my webinar one. It's been a little bit weird to go back and think through oh my gosh, I almost have the itch. I got to build something oh my gosh. It's been weird, I've shaved my focus down to just having this one funnel, and really, really enjoyed it though. I'm really, really excited though for this. There's a lot going on and I'm excited to get you guys in the loop. I got one really, really cool announcement and I want to tell you why I'm excited about it. Gosh, I'm joining Inner Circle, Russell's Inner Circle, and some of you guys might be like, "Oh my gosh, Steven you vox him almost daily, why, why would you do that?" The reason why is because I'm coaching now. Does that make sense? I'm coaching now. When you have a coach and if they're not being coached also you're getting cut short. Does that make sense? I'm getting coached, which means I will continue to be a good coach. Does that make sense? That's the reason why I'm so excited guys. I've told this story before, but I remember I wanted so badly, so badly to join Russell's Inner Circle. This was like three years ago, yes about three years ago now, and click funnels had just barely been out for just a little bit here and Russell sends this email out, and he says, "Hey, just wanted you to know that there's only a few spots left in my coaching program," and I remember I stopped dead in my tracks. I was on campus, I was in college and I stopped dead in my tracks. I was in the basketball stadium and I was walking through, passing through, going through some class I had or to the gym or something like that, I can't remember. Anyway, I remember I stopped right there and I replied to the email. I don't think he read it of course, that's fine, but I replied to the email and I was like, "Hey, crap, no, don't shut it down, I want to get in this. I don't have the cash for that kind of thing yet." The first year of marriage together my wife and I we only made $18,000 our first year of marriage. That's is $18,000, and most of it I think was loans. We were poor, poor. Guys I've been there, which is why I get so passionate about this when I see someone. I'm like, "I know you're close, I see you. I see your scenario. You are so close to this, just do it." I went through and I replied to the email. I said, "No, stop, wait." I was like some day I'm going to join that. I had no idea that four months later I was going to be working for him in the capacity that I was. I was already moving, I was already in motion. I already had a little funnel building agency. I was building funnels for other people, other businesses, and it went really, really well. I've told that before, but the reason why is because here's what happened. This

Ep 98SFR 120: Seeing The $3 Million Pitch...
Here's what I learned while watching Russell in his $3 Million Dollar HOUR... What's going on, everyone? This is Steve Larsen and you're listening to Sales Funnel Radio. Welcome to Sales Funnel Radio where you'll learn marketing strategies to grow your online business using today's best internet sales funnels. Now here's you host Steve Larsen. Steve Larsen: Hey, what's going on, everyone? Hey, so I just barely left ... Where was I? I was in Vegas. I forget where I go now. I'm traveling a lot right now. I'm going all over the place. I was home for a few days, went over and traveled. I'm only home for a few days again. I'm going to go travel again. I'm home for just a little bit, then I'll go travel again. It's all over the place right now. It's been fun. I really, really do enjoy it. Missing the family though a lot actually, but it's been really interesting. I had the very rare opportunity of watching Russell pitch. I was at Grant Cardone's 10X event and it was a great experience. I got to go sit down and watch. Honestly my favorite speaker was Grant himself. Okay? Besides Russell. I'm going to talk about that in a second. If you've not heard the huge news with that, which is pretty amazing, but I was sitting there and I was listening to Grant Cardone and he was teaching amazing stuff. Absolutely love listening to him. Super dynamic speaker. Great guy to listen to. I got a lot of great things from other speakers as well. Frankly the whole reason I went down to this event, okay, I was not planning on going to this event for quite some time. It was about a month ago. I remember I woke up one morning and I started thinking ... I don't know why guys, but I started thinking you know what? I've spoken on a lot of smaller stages now. I've spoken on a lot of smaller stages and smaller events, anywhere from 1 to 200 people, many times now, right, and several other events when there's supposed to be more people and there wasn't and there's a smaller amount. You roll the punches. A lot of fun, but I started to think. I'm like, "I want to see big people. Really huge influencers. I've got to see them go speak on huge stages with massive audiences and see what they do with their energy." The entire reason that I went to Grant Cardone's Growth event, right? 10X Growth event. I actually did not realize how big of a deal it was. I'm going to be completely honest with you. I didn't realize how many people were going to be there until I think the day before ... Not even. No, no. Yeah, okay, the day before I went down there, there was 8,500 people. 8,500. I didn't know. I have never been in an event that has been that big, that huge. I had no idea it was going to be that big, which there was pros and cons to it. Obviously I'm a huge fan of ... Obviously the pro of a smaller venue is you get a little more of the personal touch. However, the con is you may not get to network quite as much. I mean there's no way I'm going to meet 8,500 people anyway. Anyway, literally the entire reason I went to this event was to go watch massive, massive influencers speak to massive, massive audiences. I've spoken enough on other stages. I've taught a lot on other stages. Obviously not just on Russell's, but a lot of others. There is this vibe. Okay? Each presenter pulls different energies and relationships out of the audience, and it's fun to watch. They will match and they will mirror to the personality of the one speaking. It was fun to watch. It's always fun to watch. If you have ever listened to Darren Stevens, he talks about universals and truisms, things like that, to bring the audience together to get them to do things that you want. I love studying stage and I love studying stage presenters and what they do to actually control the audience. They have no idea most of the time that that's what's going on. Anything from small and OP things, down to the words you say, the gesture you use, the stories you tell. Stage to me is an amazing performance. I have a lot of respect for it because of ... If you go watch a movie, they can do a million takes, but like on a stage, you got to be an A game the entire time. It's all in one take. It's super, super amazing to watch what these guys do. It's honestly what I aspire to do. I want to go do that really bad. I'm really pumped. In a few days, I get to go speak in front of 2,500 people and I'm so excited. It's going to be over in Dallas. That's the biggest group I've ever spoken to. I didn't realize that that actually is a lot of people until Dave Woodward told me it was. I was like, "Oh, I didn't realize that ... I thought everyone's ..." Anyway, I'm excited about that and that's awesome, but knowing that, knowing that that was going to come up, I wanted to go watch this event and it is the reason that I went. I don't know what I was expecting or what I was even thinking, but I wanted to show up and I wanted to go, like I said, to watch how these guys interact. For some reason I had it in my mind, I k

Ep 98SFR 119: Preparing For FHL18...
WHY I get so excited for Funnel Hacking Live... Hey, what's going on everyone? This is Steve Larsen and you're listening to Sales Funnel Radio. Oh yeah. I've spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today. And now I've left my nine-to-five to take the plunge and build my million dollar business. The real question is, "How will I do it without VC funding or debt? Completely from scratch?" This podcast is here to give you the answer. Join me and follow along as I learn, apply, and share marketing strategies to grow my online business using only today's best internet sales funnels. My name is Steve Larsen, and welcome to Sales Funnel Radio. What's up guys? I am so freaking excited for Funnel Hacking LIVE. It is coming up. Just to be clear, I've had a lot of people reach out and say, "Oh, Steve, now that you're leaving ClickFunnels, are you gonna keep podcasting and publishing and doing their podcast?" Please understand that this is my own show and it's not affiliated at all with ClickFunnels. I just happen to be a ridiculous fanboy of everyone over there, what they do. They're changing the world, and so that's why I talk about it so much. Also, besides the fact that I've worked there. It's just a lot of part of my history, and I have massive, ridiculous respect and love for Russell and what he does. And, frankly, when you've made the kind of money he has, he obviously very easily could kind of drift off into the night, and he doesn't choose to do that. He decides to continue to go out and change stuff. So, anyways, I'm excited for Funnel Hacking LIVE. If you are not going, please find a way to get there, okay? I'm not being paid to say that. I am trying to help you understand and get to the spot that changed my life. It changed my life for me when I got there, and it was amazing. It changed everything. To be around the right people, to be around the right information, to be around the most cutting-edge stuff ... Anyways, there's my pitch for you. Hey, I have for the last several episodes been teasing you guys with this idea that I've got something special for you who are coming, and I do. I'm sure we're gonna meet anyways, but I really want to meet you guys if you're listening to this, okay? And so, I've got something special for you. I went out and I grabbed these sweet little flash drives and these flash drives ... What I'm gonna put on them is pretty incredible. I have been going out ... And if you haven't been noticing, I've been building a bunch of funnels live lately. It's been a lot of fun. I've built, maybe, nine of them and each one of them is about five hours long. I build them from scratch and I record myself doing it, and I do it in front of a live audience. And I've been doing that for the last, I don't know, four months, five months, something like that. And it's been fun. I've really, really enjoyed going through and doing that. It's a ton of work, oh my gosh. But I teach for the first fourth, the first third, something like that, and then I build from the ground up and everyone asks questions while I go. So it's extremely in-depth. Every single thing I place on there is on purpose. Everything has a purpose, and it's all part of the strategy. Anyways, I hope if you've been able to watch those, it's been kind of awesome... Well, when ... It's probably, like, what, three years ago? I built this funnel. It was probably the fourth or fifth funnel I'd ever built. The first funnel I'd ever built was, I told you guys, it was a smartphone insurance funnel. It went well. It was kind of a break-even business. If I had known more at that time, I would've kept it going and sold something more expensive on the back end because we were getting customers. Break even, which is awesome. That was our first funnel, first attempt, which is pretty cool when you think about it. It's awesome. But, shortly after I started building all these funnels for all these other companies. I was ... A lot of you guys know, I am actually just barely leaving the Army right now. Paperwork in the government takes a long time to do what it's supposed to, I guess, and get the final signature. I don't know what it does. It must just sit somewhere and have a four or five month timer on it, and then someone walks up, signs the last thing, and hands it back. I don't know, but everything's out of my hands. I'm in the middle of leaving the Army right now. As soon as the last signature happens, I am completely out of the military. Anyways, so I enlisted first, and I went through basic training and I loved it. It was hard. It wasn't impossible, though. I was actually hoping it'd be a little bit harder, but there were some challenging moments. There was some challenging aspects to it. I didn't eat that much. I still actually slept pretty well for the most part. We didn't really eat, though, that much, which was ... I lost 15 pounds, and I went in weighing, like, 170. I was really skinny when I came out of basic. It w

Ep 98SFR 118: Replacing My Income
How can I "remove" my own salary from the biz expenses... Hey, what's going on everyone? This is Steve Larsen. You're listening to Sales Funnel Radio. I've got a sweet lesson for you today. I've spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today, and now I've left my nine to five to take the plunge and build my million-dollar business. What's up everyone? I am loving that new intro. Hopefully you're loving the purpose of this show and what I'm doing and what I'm trying to help you guys understand and see. I had a guy reach out to me once and said, "Stephen, I like listening to your stuff because," actually I've had a lot of people say this to me, "because you're not like massive, massive yet." I was like, "Yeah, I plan to be. I appreciate what you're saying." He's like, "Hopefully it's not offensive." I was like, "No, it's not offensive at all. I totally get it. I know exactly where I am. I'm not lying where I am. I know where I am and I'm owning it and that's fine." He's like, "You're not massive, massive, massive, massive." I was like, "Yeah, awesome, cool." He's like, "But it's cool about that, because I can relate more." I was like, "That's interesting. That's very interesting." Anyways, hopefully you guys are getting the same kind of value as that guy was saying. I'm trying to be very, very painfully transparent about what it is that I'm doing and why I'm doing what I'm doing. Hey, I told you guys I've been traveling quite a lot lately. There's an experience that happened as we got to one of the hotels we were staying at. I say we, I'm with my buddy Colton Woods. What's up buddy? Colton and I built, he and I built our first successful sales funnel together. My very first one in ClickFunnels was with Colton. We built a smartphone insurance funnel back in college and that story, if you guys ever heard the story about me hiding in the box office seats in the basketball stadium on campus, that was with him. I would sit and we'd look and we'd wait for all the security guards to look away and I'd toss my backpack through the window and then I would wait for them to turn again and then I would jump through the window. I would stay up there for literally all day and get homework done within a couple hours, but then spend literally the entire day studying marketing, building the business, building a small little agency, building the funnels for other companies while we were in the middle of college. First of all for ourselves, and a whole bunch of other people. It was a ton of fun and frankly I did that for about a year and a half, hiding up there. Anyway, so I was with Colton. Colton, he is taking the role, I'm super excited, the moons aligned, the suns came into align with each other and he and I are, he's moving out here actually and he's going to work with me full time, which I'm super stoked, guys. My little business officially has two employees now. What? We've got a bunch of freelancers, a lot of other people on the side, but as far as in here, with me in my office, I'm sure you guys will all get a chance to see him and meet with him. He's the man. I'm excited to have him. Anyway, so I was with him. That's why I'm saying we. Colton and I were out and we were walking into the next hotel, we've been traveling like crazy going all over the place, and I walked in and I turned around and I was like, you know, he and I were just, we were sharing a hotel room and keeping cost low as much as we can. There was this ... We walk into the hotel room and I turned around and I was like, "Dude, what can we do to give ourselves a raise right now?" The webinar's going great, we're fixing out the final tweaks. It's always probably going to be in that stage regardless. It's going well though, okay? We're doing some massive plays on it coming up here soon, and Colton's kind of handling the assistant/support/lots of different hats, running a lot of the business side while I go continue to build stuff and sell stuff. Which is awesome, because I can do the thing that I'm good at and he's extremely good at the other side, which is awesome, and I'm not good at that part. We complement each other well. I'll tell you guys more about him as we continue to go, but he's the man. Anyway, so I was like, "Dude, what can we do to give ourselves a raise right now?" He's like, "What do you mean?" I was like, "Well ..." I told him, we were sitting there and I was like, I remember listening to Russell once, I was talking to Russell once and I was like, "How can we do the Inner Circle?" One of the reasons why is just because the way it helps with the structure of his revenue of w

Ep 98SFR 117: Change Story, Change Audience, Or Both?
My message to market to offer match... Hey, what's up everyone? This is Steve Larsen, and you're listening to Sale's Funnel Radio. I've spent the last four years learning from the most brilliant marketers today, and now I've left my 9:00-5:00 to take the plunge and build my million dollar business. The real questions is how will I do it without VC funding or debt, completely from scratch? This podcast is here to give you the answer. Join me, and follow along as I learn, apply, and share marketing strategies to grow my online business, using only today's best internet sales funnels. My name is Steve Larsen, and welcome to Sale's Funnel Radio... What's up, new intro! Hey, first off, just celebrating 100 thousand downloads. We've actually be past that for quite a while, just have not had the chance to create the new intro. I wrote this script while I was in the airport, I think two days ago, and I was like let's go do this, let's get it done. Anyways, hopefully you like that. I wanted to be more forward, and open, and purposeful about what this podcast is really all about, and why I do what I do. The first about 100 episodes were me just documenting the journey and lessons as I sat next to the man Russell Brunson, of course, right? After that though, I wanted to make a really strong point of this is what I did, when I did it, this is my adjustments as I saw what market was telling me to switch. This is the part of the business and part of the funnel I'm building here and there, but not until this point because of this and that. Do you know know what I mean? I'm trying to help you guys see what I'm doing and why I'm ding it. We certainly had a chance to build a lot of those kind of things for other entrepreneurs and such along the way, and finally I was like man, I see this pattern, it's the same pattern, regardless of the industry, I'm just going to go do it, and it's been working great. Anyway, it's been a ton of fun. Here's to 100 thousand downloads, and moving along, and me kind of documenting the journey as I keep going forward. It's been off to a great start, we're officially in the month of March, which is crazy. That's nuts... Anyway, hey, so this last week I was, I've traveling like a beast, guys. About two weeks ago I was in Vegas, last week I was in Dallas, and then I hope those of you that are coming to Funnel Hacking Live I'll get a chance to actually meet you. I got something cool. Stay tuned, I think next episode I'm going to drop something cool for you guys, for those of you who are actually coming to Funnel Hacking Live. Anyways, I was speaking last week, and I don't know what the deal is with when events get created, but I feel like they get the speakers in by saying there's going to be this many people, and getting people in events is like the hardest thing on planet earth. To get someone to buy something on the internet, that's a lot easier, because, I mean, you're either having to ship something to their house, they don't have to change anything in their plans, or it's literally an info product, and you're just giving access to them, or some coaching, but an event? They got to take time out of their life. They're going to plan a flight, they're going to plan hotel rooms, they're going to plan how to get from the airport to the hotel, they're going to plan, does this make sense? What are they going to eat, what are they going to wear? They got to pack a bag? They got to make arrangements. Besides the fact you're going to sell them the actual ticket, like it's pretty incredible to watch how people, but you can really see who the amazing, amazing individual marketers are based on the events that they're putting, on which is Russell Brunson's No Different, it's freaking huge. It's amazing, it's bar none the best marketing event that is in there, that is out there. In my very humble, but straight forward opinion, and correct opinion. Anyway, this last event I was speaking at was awesome. There was supposed to be 2000 people, there was only 1000 people, which is still a lot of people, and that was a lot, which is great. I had a lot of fun, but I was expecting more. Anyway, a lot of fun though. In the evening time I went and I spoke, and I got to go to dinner with some friends that were there, and one of the people asked me a question. They said, "Steven, how do you really come up with all this podcast material? Where do you see yourself in five years? What are you going to be saying?" This is one of the major concerns that I feel like people get when they start considering publishing regularly, right? I had the same concern. The concern was what the heck do you say? Especially after I can come up with a few different episode ideas, but after a while I don't know what to be saying anymore. You know what I mean? I totally get it. I went through the exact same predicament. Whereas I don't even know, what am I going to say in episode 97? What about episode 140? What am I going to say when I'm at epis

Ep 98SFR 116: "Managing" My First Employee...
Click above to listen in iTunes... Crazy, I've never had to thing about this stuff before. WOO!!! Hey. What's going on everyone? It's Steve Larsen. You're listening to Sales Funnel Radio. Welcome to Sales Funnel Radio, where you'll learn marketing strategies to grow your online business, using today's best internet sales funnels. Now, here's your host, Steve Larsen. How you guys doing? Have you guys ever seen those oxygen restriction masks? Those things are nuts. I bought one. This morning I went on this run and it was so much harder than I ever anticipated it being. I used to backpack a lot. I know I talked about that a couple times. When I was backpacking there was this time we climbed Pikes Peak. If you know what that is, it's very famous mountain in Colorado. It's funny because there's a tram that takes you up to the top. It's above 14,000 feet. When you get that high, I mean, walking just takes the breath out of you. It feels like you're exercising when you're just walking. We climbed it though. We started super early in the morning, we start climbing up this thing. It's so funny, when you start getting above tree line, which is usually around 11,000 feet, meaning it's so high that trees can't grow anymore, so it's above tree line, you start getting really deliberate in the steps that you take. It was funny because ... That was a very challenging hike actually. I liked it a lot. It was funny because, I started feeling like that this morning when I just put this mask on. If I run down to the street light, that's just a street light and back, that's two miles. Almost on the dot... It's funny it took me an extra five, ten minutes than it normally would because I was just sucking wind. I even had it on the lowest setting. I was like, "Good grief." I forgot my high altitude lungs are just gone. Anyway. Anyway. Hey, I've been listening to and re-listening to all of the old funnel hacking live speeches. All of them. It's been a lot of fun. I'm almost done with the 2016 replays. I'll go back to the 2015 replays soon, then I'll go to 2017. I don't really know why I started in that order but I did. It's been a lot of fun to go back through and do that. It's fascinating to remember, "Oh yeah, remember when I had that aha, that was at this event here. Or I remember this personal development growth piece, this happened here or there or whatever." What's interesting is to go back and listen to all the things and I'm like, "How come I never heard them say that the first time?" Right? I think it's the reason why, I mean, my two year old and my four year old I still have to say the same things to them over and over and over again. "Hey, stop hitting your sister. Hey, be nice. Hey, be nice. Hey, hey, hey." You know what I mean? It's just human nature we all have to hear things a million times before we actually hear it. Which I think is kind of fascinating when you think of it like that. That's why I always laugh when someone's like, "I already read the book Expert Secrets." I'm like, "That is one of the most core marketing books that is in existence today. You've only read it once?" Right? I just re-read 108 Split Tests. I did. Okay? Why? Because there's all these things that you continue to get from it over and over and over again. Right? When they are the classics, when they're the things that change the way a market behaves, why would you not study them like crazy? Right? I listen to an awesome course. It's by Perry Belcher. If you can't handle swearing don't listen to it. It's by Perry Belcher and it's ... Oh my gosh. Is it the Secret Selling System? I think that's what it is. That course is freaking amazing. It's like 18 hours but that is fantastic. I'm going to go back and re-listen to that here shortly I think 'cause man that was incredible. Anyway. I keep going back to the greats. I keep going back ... What's funny is that there's so much new material around me at all times that I have not even begun to dive into because I feel like I've not mastered some of the simple things that are right in front of me. Do you know what I mean? I only like to learn things for a purpose. Even all the DISC tests and all the 16 personalities tests, all that stuff, that even says so in there. Right? I only like to listen and learn and study from things that I will use right now. I am not a good general learner, which has turned out to be a big blessing because I don't get distracted by all this other garbage that frankly it doesn't matter that I'm on or not. Right? Anyway. One of the things I was picking up today and I was kind of refreshing my mind on was a book that I read in college. It's funny when you read things the first time and when you're brand new ... Not brand new. When you're not as experienced in an industry and you start reading the books from that industry, it's funny how the first few books or courses you take is just like mind blowing. You're like, "Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh that's so crazy. What? You automate you

Ep 98SFR 115: Matching Storylines...
Take stories about you and craft them to the market you're selling to... Hey, what's going on everyone? It's Steve Larsen. You're listening to the Sales Funnel Radio. Welcome to Sales Funnel Radio where you'll learn marketing strategies to grow your online business using today's best internet sales funnels. Now, here's your host, Steve Larsen. Hey, guys. What's up? Hey, I am going to a lot of events right now. I have an event every other week for the next almost two or three months. That's a lot of travel that's coming up. Some of them, I'm going just to go, and some of them, I'm going because I'm funnel hacking actually. What I'm trying to do, I was talking to Russell about this, with him in his office the other day, and I was like, "Yeah. You know what's funny is I've spoken a lot in smaller groups. I've spoken several times in bigger groups." A lot of people don't know I was actually a singer in high school and in college a lot. I sang in bands. I sang in choirs. I was in musicals. So I mean, the most I ever sang in front of is probably 40,000 people. That was fun. I've done that a couple times actually. I actually really enjoy that part of it. Anyway. What I was telling him is that I haven't really done a lot of speaking in front of more than a couple thousand. Right? So what I'm doing is I've done a lot of speaking in front of a smaller audience, and I'm learning how to control the room. You know what I mean? It's been a lot of fun to go through and do that. I've had a ton of fun with it. Okay? I'm learning to control the room. I'm learning how to make everyone sway the way I want them to. It's been a lot of fun. What I want to do is I want to go, and I want to watch big guys, right, the Russell Brunson's of the world, right, the Grant Cardone's. I want to watch them and how they interact with a room. I want to watch how they interact. I'm really pumped about it. So I've been going around to these different events and watching. It's fascinating to watch the different experiences, I guess, experience the different ways that they interact with the room. Big guys in front of big rooms. It's been a lot of fun. I've actually really, really enjoyed it, and gained a lot of things from it. So I'm sitting here, and I'm speaking next week in front of 2,500 people. I'm super pumped, you guys. Oh my gosh, it's so cool. It's an event down in Dallas called the Happiness Convention. Anyway. So I'm putting my slides together right now. What's been fascinating is to go and put these slides together in a way that with all the different lessons that are happening right now. You know? It's been a lot of fun. I've really, really enjoyed, and I know I keep saying that, but I really do, guys. I enjoy what I do. It's so fun. I can't remember who I was talking to the other day, and they're like, "Oh, that sucks, man. You had to work on a Saturday. That sucks so bad." I was like, "Actually, I am completely addicted to what I do. I'm completely both feet in. I really don't have any other hobbies. This is my hobby. I like to get better at it, and better and better and better." So anyways. I am sitting here, and I am creating my slides, and I'm putting together the slides. I'm supposed to get them over to him today. I don't know if I'm going to be able to do that, but it's nice they gave me a full hour. What they're doing is they're letting me, I'm not selling, but I'm allowed to pre-frame my webinar, the stuff that my webinar sells. I'm allowed to go pre-frame that, and pull people from the audience over to that, and get them ready to buy that. So it's kind of fun. So I'm still breaking and rebuilding belief patterns the exact same way I would on the webinar. So what I've done is I've gone, and I've literally just cloned by slides for my webinar. I'm just adapting them to the room, removing certain elements from it, changing and adapting to the room, the audience that's going to be there. That's always been the hardest part is what I've noticed. It's funny, because there was a time I was speaking in Vegas. I sat down in the back of the room, and I had this stark realization that, oh my gosh, what I had just created is not for the right audience. So I pulled my laptop up, and I'm changing the lingo, same lessons, but the words had to change. You know what I mean? I was not using the correct vernacular. I was not using the correct isms from the people inside the room. I went through and I created. Luckily, I was able to really, really quickly go through and change what I was speaking about. Right? What was cool about it is that I gave the speech. It was awesome. It was a ton of fun. Then about six months later, no, it was about maybe nine months later, this guy walks up to me, and he goes, "Hey, man. I was there in the room when you gave that speech. I want you to know I made $100,000 from that speech that you made." He was like, "Thank you so much. I went out and I did the exact same thing that you were telling us to do. He was li

Ep 98SFR 114: Hacking The Live Webinar Funnel...
I'm tripling how often I deliver my webinar. BUT, sometimes I can't be there to do it live, so... Hey, what's going on everyone. This is Steve Larsen, and you're listening to Sales Funnel Radio. Welcome to Sales Funnel Radio where you'll learn marketing strategies to grow your online business using today's best internet sales funnels. And now, here's your host, Steve Larsen. So I was just outside. We've been shipping just a whole bunch of stuff into the house, stuff for our garage, stuff for ... just lots of different stuff. And a lot of the stuff has come on big pallets and things like that. We've been shipping a lot of cool stuff in here. It's been fun. But funny enough, we've just had this stack of boxes and pallets and all this stuff all over the place and so we've been wondering what to do with it. There's no one who comes out and says, "Hey, you've got a whole bunch of pallets you've got to get rid of?" You know what I mean? So it's funny, for Valentine's Day, my wife got me an ax, which is kind of fun, actually. So I've been outside for the last three hours just bashing apart and burning these pallets, and it's been a whole lot of fun. It's totally manly. Hey, this last week has been kind of interesting with my webinar. A lot of sales at first, kind of trickled down, and then it really slowed down quite a bit, and I know ... I figured out why. I think I figured out why. I think it's because ... So here's the numbers, right. I still have a 56 percent opt in rate on my first page. 56 percent. It's awesome. It's really, really ... I mean super, super cool. I'll get 150 to 200 people registering from my webinar each week. But there's only like a 7 to 10 percent show up rate. Of the people who show up, I still end up usually closing anywhere from 10 to 20 percent, which is an awesome close rate for a webinar. But the actual show up rate is so low that the last little bit here hasn't been that many sales. I'm like, okay, what's the problem? And I know there's probably some guru or whatever's out there who's like, "Why would you ever share these numbers? Don't make yourself look bad." What I'm trying to help you understand and to know and show and see, is that my reaction to what the market is telling me is what is key right here. And so I was ... I'm not going to lie, I was super frustrated, like, what the heck's going on? C'mon. I know the product's freaking awesome. There's no one else selling anything that's like this. I know it's incredible. I've had amazing success stories with it. People are doing amazing things with it. Like, ah. It's been so cool. So I'm like, okay. But that just goes to show what I keep saying to all these people too. Stop focusing and freaking out so much about the product. Start focusing and be obsessive over the sales message and the product will take care of itself. You go and you make something awesome. And it should still be awesome, but you know what I mean? Focus on that second... Anyway, so I was boxing Russell, and I was like, "Dude, I don't know what the heck's going on. It's nerve-wracking doing one webinar per week, and ... " Follow me on this okay? There's something very specific I want to tell you guys on this webinar because I'm very excited you guys. I think I hacked out the way cook funnels works a little bit. It's so cool. So anyway, I was boxing Russell and I was like, dude, what's going on. What do you think's happening? What do you ... " And he was making fun of me because I'm still putting a dollar in on ads and I'll get like $4 back out. And he was like, "I'm Stephen. I only 4Xed my money." And I was like okay, "Okay, I get it." And it's still that kind of thing. But it's like the numbers are tiny. I was like, "How do I scale this thing up so that my show up rate's higher?" And he was like, "Yeah, my show up rate ..." He usually gets a 25% show up rate. And I was like, "I'm floating around anywhere from 7% down to ... up to 15%. It's still kind of low. You know?" So that's the number I'm working on. And so, all these little things that I've been doing to my webinar to get it to increase. Anyways, I was telling him about it. And I go, "Dude, I can't handle ... It's my sole income. You know what I mean?" I'm putting my money where my mouth is and this is my sole income. And we're doing totally fine, by the way. It made more money last month than I've had in my bank account ever. We're doing great but still, the consistency of it is part of the sexiness of it. You know what I mean? And so, I was like, "What's wrong? How can I react to what the market is telling me?" So I was telling him all this and was like, "Once per week is rough because I'm eating what I kill. You know?" And he goes, "Well, what if you just do it twice a week?" I was like, "Huh." Why have I never thought about that? So I was like, "Okay.' So I ... A few nights later, I was like, "Okay, I got to think through this model." How do I from a technical standpoint run this thing in a way so that

Ep 98SFR 113: My New Hiring Funnel...
Here's how I 'm using funnels to hire a support person, funnel assistant, personal assistant, and high ticket sales person... Hey, what's going on everyone? It's Steve Larsen. You're listening to Sales Funnel Radio. Welcome to Sales Funnel Radio where you'll learn marketing strategies to grow your online business using today's best internet sales funnels. Now, here's your host, Steve Larsen. Holy crap, so I'll be completely honest with you. I was actually at church three days ago and I was sitting down and this guy just said the word Super Bowl, and all of a sudden it hit me that that day, later that afternoon was the Super Bowl. I was like, "Hey, guys. I'm assuming today is the Super Bowl." Someone is like, "Yeah." "Oh, okay. I did not know that." They're like, "You didn't know today was the Super Bowl?" I was like, "No. No, I didn't. I did not know today is the Super Bowl." I had a few other friends and stuff they're like making fun of me for it. I don't care. I don't care. Actually, I love the NFL actually. Like, I shouldn't say I love it. I watch one game per year and that is the Super Bowl. I love the Denver Broncos, mostly because I'm from there. If we ever get a good quarterback again, maybe they'll have a good shot at actually doing something good again... Guys, I love low-information diets. I'm trying to cultivate one of them. For years ... I don't really read the news. I used to have a subscription to The Wall Street Journal. Yes I stopped that a long time ago. I had another friend that was like, "Hey, did you see on the news X, Y, and Z?" I was like, "No." They're like, "What? Where do you go to get your news?" I was like, "I don't. I don't." They're like, "Huh, if something important is going on how do you know about it?" I was like, "Because I hear people talking about it." If anything, Facebook will at least give me a skewed idea that something's at least going on. I'll hear it from the filters of a billion people on Facebook. I should go check it out then. Like, "Really?" I was like, "Yeah, it's all about me not taking in too much information. It's all about me trying my hardest to not take in information. There's so much data that's produced every second now, every little nanosecond. I mean there's so much. There's no way you could ever consume the amount of stuff that's produced in your lifetime. What's nice about that is you get to actually choose what it is you actually take in. The hard part about it is that you actually have to choose what you should take in. You know what I mean? I go through and actually ... I wasn't trying to talk about this at all actually during this episode. I try and cultivate a low-information diet as much as I can, much like before our workweek talks about. I've noticed in my life, it's a lot more, I can think. There's a lot more calm in my head. I know there's crazy stuff going on and I'm not trying to be an un-responsible citizen, but I think my best way to contribute to society is to help a whole bunch of people learn how to make a whole bunch of money and help their customers, and I think it's going pretty well so far. You know what I mean? All right, there's my contribution and it's going well. I really don't read much news. I had no idea the Super Bowl was going on, which by the way, I did want the Patriots to win. I was a little bit sad they didn't. Broncos and Patriots those are my teams, if I can even say that. I can't even name players. I barely even know what the teams are. I don't even know what all the divisions are inside the NFL. I'm serious, I don't. I don't feel awkward about that. I'm a little jealous of all the people who know how to talk sports. I don't know how to talk sports at all, at all. Why? It's actually slightly on purpose, especially at the beginning it was very much on purpose. Now it's just a habit, but I am trying to stay obsessed with my craft. Obsessed. I mean, freakishly obsessed. You know what I mean? Straight up fanatical, monomaniac over what I do. Why? You know what's funny? There's a stat I was reading that I heard about. I can't remember what it said, but it said basically if you read like ... If you consume an hour a day of the material inside your industry, just an hour a day or something like that, within a couple of years you'll be one of the top people. That's so awesome. There's so much other noise, there's so many other distractions that other people give in to. All I got to do is I got to start reading, I got to start studying, I got to start reading the greats, understand where they are and I'll be at the top. It's the same thing with you guys. I know that every one of you on here, you're all rock stars, you're all producers, you're all ... We may not all be A type personalities, but we're all go-getters. We all try and get things done. I'm a little bit more of an introvert in person. Depends on how well I know you. That's all I'm trying to say though, is I try to keep and cultivate this low-information diet and

Ep 98SFR 111: The 4 Oceanic Personalities...
What Dave Woodward taught me in-between stage time... Hey, what's going on everyone? This is Steve Larsen. You're listening to Sales Funnel Radio. Welcome to Sales Funnel Radio, where you'll learn marketing strategies to grow your online business using today's best Internet sales funnels. Now, here's your host, Steve Larsen. All right, all right, all right. I am in the throws of just building like crazy. I'm about to finish my webinar product. I have had, I've had a ton of people come out and say, "Hey, will you build this? Will you build this? Will you build this?" It's so funny you guys. It's been this way every single time I've ever built anything, ever. I remember I was going out, and I can't remember what I was building, it was years ago. I started noticing this pattern that any time I got ... I started setting this resolve of like, "I'm going to go build this, and I'm going to stay focused, and no one else is going to get distracted." Like, "All right, no one's going to distract me, and I'm only going to do one thing at a time this time." As most entrepreneurs probably go through. It's every single time I go out and I start having that kind of intent to build something different or put something out there, it's like the world and the market come flying out from the woodwork and just trying to distract me, trying to say, "Hey, well here's an opportunity over here. Come over here, there's an opportunity here. This piece over here. Don't miss out on this over here." Right? I'm sure you guys have all seen that before. If you haven't, get ready and buckle up, okay? As soon as anyone ... Here's the funny thing, okay? Most people in life don't really do that much stuff, right? If you're listening to this podcast, right, you're probably one of the other ambitious individuals on the planet. There's like, newsflash, there's not many of us. I didn't know that, and it's not to put anyone else down, but some people are completely content of doing the same thing over and over again in their life. That's great, good for them. I'm not and you're not either, I'm assuming, right, that's why you're listening to this, okay? I'm not. For me, I had the hardest time when I was in school knowing what to try and choose to do. I would stand around and go, "Oh my gosh," like I, do I try and go ... My major at BYU-I was actually finance and then I was like, "Maybe I'll do supply chain. Maybe I'll do this over here. Maybe I'll do ... Gosh, I have no idea, because if I do this, I'm going to get stuck at a desk doing the same thing over and over again. If I do this over here, oh my gosh. Like literally, I'll look at spreadsheets all day long." I was like, "I don't want that." It's funny, because when I started getting really clear on what it is that I wanted, two things happened, right? The first thing that happened, well first of all, just so you know, I was like, I was in this huge conundrum and suddenly, and finally I had this professor, this teacher, he's kind of one of my, he was a mentor of mine basically. He was a teacher. He and I spent a lot of one-on-one time together actually and he would just teach me stuff. He was a former CMO of Denny's and of Pizza Hut. I've talked about him before. He was the guy that invented the stuffed crust pizza, and all hail. He would teach me a lot of amazing stuff. One day, he took me aside and he goes, "Look, Stephen, I see that you are like massively torn between what you should do." He's like, "You need to come and you've got ... Come get a marketing degree, man." I was like, "Serious?" I was like, "I'm not going to lie. I look at the marketing degree as like a cop out." Okay? That was my view of what marketing was at the time, which was so skewed. Like oh my gosh. In my mind, there's no other skill set that will pay you more than learning how to do sales and marketing but for some ... Like the way it's taught, right? The cultural perceptions of western society look at sales as almost like the people who couldn't get any other career. Like are you kidding me? That's like the most valuable, most important career on the planet. Like without sales, the entire economy dies, newsflash, right? Like holy smokes. Learning how to be salesman, learning how to market, those are like the most profitable skills you could ever learn, right? Which is amazing, it's just amazing. Anyway, so I was like, "Okay." He's like, "Come, come and do this thing." Like, "Fine, fine." He goes, "Look, I know you're going to like it because you have to solve a new problem and a new challenge pretty much every day. It changes, you're never doing the same thing over and over again. Even if you have to, it's kind of different, right? It's for different people." I was like, "All right, fine." He goes and he convinces me to get into this. He's like, "Go do marketing," so I get into marketing. I started studying marketing stuff and I was like, "Oh my gosh, this is amazing. This is super cool." It's always, it's been fascinati

Ep 98SFR 110: The 30 Day Stats of My Webinar...
Click above to listen in iTunes... Here's how the first 30 days of my webinar are going and what I am going to change... Hey, hey, what's going on everyone? This is Steve Larsen, and you're listening to Sales Funnel Radio. Welcome so Sales Funnel Radio, where you'll learn marketing strategies to grow your online business using today's best internet sales funnels. Now, here's your host, Steve Larsen. Alrighty, guys. I am super pumped for this because I'm going to walk through, as I said ... That was about five, six weeks ago, I launched my webinar, and the webinar that I launched out there and put out there has been ... It's been going fantastic, and I wanted to walk through some numbers and some stats. This is a lesson, so this is Sales Funnel Radio, right? I want to show you guys when you actually launch a funnel, and you guys know my philosophy that, look, you don't need to know everything, and in fact, it's best if you just know the formula for this whole business game to work online, and then all you do is you start your business and product ideas through the formula. While some of them are not going to work, you're just going to go out and you're just going to try it again. That's totally fine, and if the formula works, you're just trying to find the right idea and market match that actually makes the formula work and blow up really, really well. So what I want to do is I want to walk through the actual webinar that I launched. Now, the webinar that I've launched has been in the making, the actual planning of it as far as like, "Hey, I'm going to go do this thing," it was in the planning for, I don't know, a year? It did not actually exist until about four days before I actually did it. Does that make sense? So I went through and day number one ... So this was January 1st. January 1st was a Monday, and on Monday ... and I did it on Thursday. The webinar actually launched on a Thursday, so Monday what I did is I went through and I just created my registration process itself meaning you could go in, you could register for the webinar, there's a confirmation page, a little bit of indoctrination series. If you don't know what I'm talking about at all, go read the book Expert Secrets.. So I actually made the registration process itself before there was anything else. I didn't even make the script. There was no script. There was hardly any product at all, at all. Day number two what I did is I went and I started actually making the script, and I didn't finish it at all, but I came up with my three secrets, and I came up with the actual offer itself, the actual stack slide, the actual offer. Then day number three I put a membership area together, put some stuff in there, and then the actual order process so people could buy. Day number four, I actually did the webinar, and I woke up on the day of the webinar and I got up and I started the actual slides at 8:30 in the morning, and the webinar was at 2:00 pm, and I was just slide creating like an animal, and I was getting all these pieces together, and music was going crazy. That's the secret to good funnels, by the way. It's music and caffeine. So I was making the funnels, putting all the pieces together, and I get out and the time starts going away and suddenly it's 10:30, and I'm like, "Crap. I just barely started the secrets," and suddenly it's noon, and it's two hours away, and I'm like, "Oh my gosh. I'm only into secret number two here." If you guys know the webinar formula, that means I'm a third the way through, maybe halfway through, maybe. About an hour before the webinar starts, and there's 270 people registered for this one, and I was like, "Oh my gosh. Holy cow. I'm not going to even finish this thing," and I'm going as fast as I possibly can, and I literally finished the slides two minutes before the actual webinar started. That was some stressful crap. I recommend you not doing it that way, but I got it out the door. I just did it. That's the whole point. I just did it. If you've not launched something and you've been consuming all of my podcasts and you've been reading the books and you've been learning about the methodology and the formulas behind the stuff that we know works and you still haven't launched it, just set a date and just do it. Just do it. Know that it's going to go out kind of broken, and it was for me as well, and I told you in the last episode that it in part it has to do with a lot my storytelling that created an emotional experience for people that allowed them to know that it was going to be a little bit broken and that they were okay with that. They were fine with that it was a little bit broken out of the box. All right, so anyway, that's huge. That's a massive, massive piece right there. So anyways, I launched it, and I sold it. So I'm going to go through some numbers here. I want to go through some stats so that you see what I see, so I can show you what I'm seeing and what I'm looking at because I mean even when I worke

Ep 98SFR 109: My Funnel Insurance...
There ONE skill that protects me against any mishap as I launch funnels... Hey, what's going on everyone. This Steve Larsen, and you're listening to Sales Funnel radio. Welcome to Sales Funnel Radio where you'll learn marketing strategies to grow your online business using today's best internet sales funnels. And now, here's your host, Steve Larsen. And we're about to cross 100,000 downloads. I am going to remake an intro. I have loved the intro that I have, but it's time to switch it up. After 100 episodes, what, it's like 120 episodes now almost and almost 100,000 downloads. To celebrate that I'll probably toss it out there. Hey, so I was on stage, I was teaching the Fat Event. It's been super busy, I'm sorry I've not done a podcast here in a little while. Funny story though. I was on stage and I get excited, which I know is hard to imagine. I get excited in general. But I was on stage and it was the second day. It was lie one o'clock. One o'clock, two o'clock in the afternoon. And the second day's a long day. For me it's 12 hours on stage at least. Anywhere from 12 to 15 hours, and then Russell will come on as well. And I was just wrecked... Anyway, it's a lot of fun though. I mean I absolutely love it. I enjoy it like crazy. So I was on stage, and I was jumping around. I was getting ... I can't remember what I was teaching about. But I ... The pants that I was wearing. You guys will like this story. The pants that I was wearing were a little bit more like loose fitting. And I was like ... We were jumping around, and I was teaching ... I can't remember what I was teaching. I think I was teaching about like storytelling or something like that. I think I was talking about energy. Why it matters. Anyway, I can't totally remember it was. But basically I jumped and no one else knew, but when I came back down I totally ripped by pants. Like right up my butt cheek. And nobody knew. And so ... And I didn't know how bad the rip was. And so I'm like jumping around on ... "Hey." Like I have no idea what's going on. I just know it's getting drafty back there. And I was like, "What the heck?" Like I've never had this happen in my life ever. And so I ... So there was a whiteboard there, and I write whiteboards a lot. I draw on them a lot to illustrate certain principles and stuff. But I wouldn't turn my back and actually write on the whiteboard in front of me because I didn't know how bad it was. I didn't know how bad it was. So eventually after while I was leaning around the white board writing down. Anyway. And I ... In my mind I was laughing. I was like, "I'm literally going to podcast about this." So this is me doing that. And I decided I would called a break. I was like, "All right. I'm going to call break." And uncouthly remove myself from the room. And so I remove myself from the room and I grab my friend Miles who's also ... He's into ClickFunnels. Employee there. He works at ClickFunnels. He's the DJ basically. Runs all the sound and lights and all that stuff for me while I'm doing those things. And I was like, "Hey man. I need you to be a bro and look at my butt." And he's like, "What?" I was like, "I freaking ripped my pants dude." And so we're hiding in a corner and he looks at my butt and he's like, "Dude, as long as you stand perfectly straight, your shirttail covers it. It's not even a big deal." And I was like, "Okay." So for the next five hours I had the most perfect, unnaturally amazing posture that I have ever had in my entire life. And anyway, no one was the wiser until the next day I told literally everyone that story while I was up there. And I know that some people might think that that's weird, but it's to illustrate a point. Okay. It's to illustrate a point. Whatever weird thing's going in your life, whatever it is that's going on, whatever it is that's happening to you, that develops your attractive character when you start to share those things. Right? I know now not to wear slightly baggy jeans while I'm on stage jumping around. Okay? Who would've known? I'll make that secret 12 in like some stage presenting workshop coming up, or I don't know. Just kidding. But anyway. But it's true though, okay. It's all about ... You guys got to understand this, okay? When it comes to your attractive character, and new opportunities. New opportunities you compete by being brand new. Right? All right. Your attractive character though is also something to be treated not as brand new, but as different. Let me explain what I mean, okay? In creating new opportunities your business should be a new opportunity. Your business is a new opportunity. The product itself is a new opportunity to somebody else. And if you've never ... If this is a brand new concept to you, you should probably go back a few episodes and start listening right? Right. It's a pretty standard idea now to find something that's a brand new product. Brand new idea. Your attractive character though also needs to make some kind of evolvement. Ok
