About Play Podcasts

Play Podcasts is a free, independent directory for discovering podcasts and their episodes. We index publicly available podcast feeds, present them in one searchable place, and link listeners to the original shows and the people who make them.

What we do

Podcasting is open by design. Every podcast publishes an RSS feed that any directory or app can read. We use those feeds to build a clean, searchable index covering podcasts in dozens of languages and across every major category — from business and technology to comedy, true crime, education, and the arts.

On each podcast page you'll find the show's description, its episode list, links to the show's own website, and a direct link to its RSS feed so you can subscribe in the podcast app of your choice. The directory is free to use and does not require an account.

Editorial articles

Alongside the directory we publish original editorial articles in our articles section. These are written and edited in-house — essays on podcast craft, profiles of hosts and producers, and analysis of the audio business. They're separate from the directory listings, which carry information published by the show owners themselves.

How we source podcasts

We discover shows through a combination of public podcast indices, listener submissions, and direct submissions from podcast owners. We re-fetch each feed on a regular schedule so titles, artwork, and episode lists stay current with what the publisher is broadcasting.

We do not host the audio for any podcast we index. When you press play on an episode page, your browser streams the audio directly from the publisher's feed. The publisher remains in control of their show at all times: if a feed is removed or marked private, it disappears from our directory on the next crawl.

Play Podcasts is operated by Digital Platforms Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales (company number 17087275, registered office 3rd Floor, 86–90 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NE). Digital Platforms Ltd builds and operates a small portfolio of independent media properties; Play Podcasts is one of them.

How we make money

We display advertising on parts of the site to fund the cost of running the directory and writing the editorial. We don't sell listener data, we don't take payment in exchange for listing or ranking a podcast, and we never put paid placements into the editorial. Sponsored placements, where they appear, are clearly labelled.
