He worked as a junior doctor in central London for two years after medical school, and then moved to Norway to complete a PhD in physiology and neuroscience at the University of Oslo. Tommy is currently President-elect of Physicians for Ancestral Health, he is a director of the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine and the Icelandic Health Symposium, and is on the scientific advisory board of Hintsa Performance. Tommy has also coached and competed in multiple sports including rowing, CrossFit, powerlifting, and ultra-endurance racing. Alongside his career in medicine and research, Tommy has published and spoken on multiple topics surrounding functional and ancestral approaches to health, including examining the root causes of multiple sclerosis and insulin resistance. Devan McConnell is the Phoenix Coyote's High Performance Director responsible for maximizing performance, minimizing injury risk, optimizing fitness and nutrition levels and executing comprehensive training regiments for all Coyotes and Roadrunners players and club prospects. Devan McConnell joins the Coyotes from the New Jersey Devils where he served as their Director of Performance Science and Reconditioning. In this role, he oversaw the integration and application of sport and performance science technologies, systems and practices. McConnell also assisted with the day-to-day performance training of all NHL athletes in the Devils organization, the return-to-play training of injured athletes and the organizational vision and directive of the Performance department at both the NHL and AHL levels. Prior to his time in New Jersey, the Lake Stevens, Washington native previously served as the Head of Hockey Performance and Sport Science at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. He was responsible for the oversight and development of all aspects of physical development for the ice hockey team. McConnell also previously served as the Sports Performance Coordinator at Stanford University from 2008-11 where he worked closely with the women's basketball team as well as the men's and women's volleyball programs. All these teams were regulars in the NCAA tournament. During his time at Stanford, women's basketball competed in three consecutive Final Fours while the women's volleyball team competed in two Final Fours and the men's volleyball program won the 2010 NCAA Championship. Throughout his active career in international powerlifting competition Ed Coan has set over 71 world records in powerlifting.[4] He became the lightest person to cross the 2,400 lb. barrier in the powerlifting total (a sum of three lifts: the deadlift, bench, and squat). He set an all-time powerlifting record total at 2,463 pounds, even though at the time he was not in the heaviest weight class. Coan's best result in a drug tested international competition is 1,035 kg (2,282 lbs) in the 100 kg weight class at the 1994 IPF Senior World Championships.[5] establishing a new world record at the time.
