We’ve been fed a narrative that you can’t get faster after a certain age. We used to say 40. Definitely not after 50. Could you possibly get faster after 60? This week’s guests say, “Why not?” When it comes to women at midlife and menopause, we’re more active than ever. We also know more, have better coaching, and have more information at our disposal. This week, during a special educational session at the Vinfast Ironman World Championship, we had a panel discussion on all of it with five-time world champion Melanie McQuaid, physical therapist and strength and triathlon coach Dr. Chrissy Davis, and co-founder of FLY Health + Wellness and USAT certified coach Jen Temperley. 100-milers and IRONMANs are VERY different. In terms of training, mindset, and distance - these races are nowhere alike. So what would it look like to be an athlete for both? Well, Lucy Bartholomew is. Looking at the 2023 season, it seems like Lucy may race both Kona in October, and UTMB in September. Lucy is an Australian Ultra Trailrunner - Haley and Alyssa welcome her onto the podcast to talk about her recent foray into triathlon and how she manages both this and ultra trail running. IronWomen - Unfinished Business with Mariana Andrade

We often hear triathlon referred to as a lifelong sport, and this week's guest, Mariana Andrade, is a great example of that. From beginning her journey in the sport as a teenager in Brazil, to then racing professionally in the 2000s, Mariana was a prominent name on the long-course scene. She then decided to step away from the sport in order to focus on her health and grow her coaching business, during which time she dabbled in racing as a pure cyclist. This year she decided to return to ironman racing, and did so with a bang- finishing second in Ironman Florianopolis! In the interview she told us about her reasons for needing to step away from the sport, as well as her strong love for the competition and community that made her want to return. Mariana is proof that there is no "perfect" path to the top in elite sport, and that progress is not always linear. We can't wait to see what she accomplished on future races, especially when she toes the line in Kona this fall!Follow us on Instagram:@feistytriathlon Feisty Media Website:https://feisty.co/ Support Our Partners:
