Hi there, I'm Bella Vasta from Jump Consulting. You might know me from CBS, NBC, Fox, Huffington Post, Entrepreneur, or maybe you've seen me speak on stage or read my book The Four Dogs That Every Business Owner Needs. In any case, get ready because you're about to get your hashtag Bella Butt Kickin' in this next episode of Bella in Your Business. So what do you say? Let's get ready and jump. Welcome to another episode of Bella in Your Business. My name is Bella Vasta, and today we're going to talk about beating your competition at their own game. Yeah. I know that some of you are like, “No, they're not my competition. We're all friends, we're colleagues, we all offer different things.” And that is a very healthy mindset. So if you want to switch the word “competition” with something like “the other service provider,” go ahead and do that. But for the sake of this podcast, I am totally talking about ways to beat your competition. I wanted to give a shout-out to Michelle, Leia, and Kathy for always listening to the podcast. You ladies, every single week, are always sharing on your Instagram stories, and it just delights me. It makes me so happy to hear what your biggest takeaways are. It fuels me for this podcast, so thank you. There are a lot of reasons why we might want to beat the competition. Maybe you just hired somebody and need to get your midday dog walks up. Maybe you need to increase pet sitting during the holidays. The holidays are coming up, and maybe you have some staff members coming back from college during fall or winter break. If you do, reach out to them now and find out what their plans are. But for whatever reason, you're probably looking to increase your revenue and grow your business. One of the best ways to do this is by standing out from the competition—so that when someone lands on your website, they just can’t help but sign up or call you right away. Or email you. Or whatever your call to action is (which, by the way, should only be one). You want them to do this one thing, and I'm going to give you three tactics today that will help make sure you land the client instead of someone else. And by someone else, I mean friends, family, neighbors, Rover, Wag, the kid next door, or another company. The first thing—and this is one of the easiest things you can do, but 80 to 90% of people don’t—is this: answer emails and phone calls immediately. When people reach out to you, they’re not looking to leave a message. They’re looking to check an item off their to-do list and feel confident that they’ve taken care of it. They want to feel good about the price, the service, and most importantly, that they can trust you. What better way to build that trust than to respond as soon as humanly possible? It gets you in front of them—and that’s the biggest part of the game. You’ve got to get in front of people, start building that relationship, and understand their pain points. Hardly anyone answers the phone anymore. But if I’m calling you, I want to connect with you. A phone call is more personal than an email. If I were less serious, I might just fill out a form on your website. Speaking of forms, let’s take a quick detour—if you have a form on your website, make sure

In any case, get ready because you're about to get your hashtag Bella Butt Kickin' in this next episode of Bella in Your Business. So what do you say? Let's get ready and jump. Welcome to another episode of Bella in Your Business. My name is Bella Vasta and jingle bells, here they come. Ready or not, get prepared. Today, we're going to talk about planning ahead in your business for the holiday season and things I want you to consider that will save you time and your sanity because I want to make sure that you're ready to go. So here's the thing, and this is something I do in my life and it's very helpful. Sometimes I even tell certain people in my life, “You’re my big rock.” And what that means is—if we had a mason jar and wanted to fit as much stuff as we could in there, we’d start by putting the biggest things in first, like the big rocks. Then the next biggest, and then the next, all the way down to the sand. And then when we’re done with the sand, you can actually fill it up with water. That’s how full you can get that jar. But most of our jars are overflowing and spilling out, right? Well, I want you to put your big rocks in first—which means look at your priorities. That could be events, people, or even you. I’ll have Jillian put a video in the show notes on the website—there’s a really cool video that demonstrates that mason jar “big rock” concept. It’s one of my favorite mindset videos. It teaches you to put the big rocks in your life first—figure out what the most important things are that you want to do or spend time on. Do you have a holiday experience planned for you and your family? A trip up to the cabin or maybe the Bahamas? Put your priorities first. Maybe there’s a certain person that you want to make sure you spend quality time with. Put your big rocks first. The next thing I want you to consider is that by the beginning of October, figure out how to batch social media content. What are you going to talk about? What are your buckets? What types of blogs and emails are you going to write? What about posts, carousels, or reels? When are you going live—and what will it be about? Do as much as you can ahead of time. Social media can be scheduled. And if you do that, all that’s left is replying to people and doing outreach each day. How great would it feel to know your marketing is done for you? Then all you’d have to do is post on the fly during the day—whenever you’re excited, motivated, or have something interesting to show. That’s what we do in the Better Marketing with Bella program, which is opening its doors right now. If you go to jumpconsulting.net/marketing, you’ll see it there. And this year, we’re doing something extra special—but you’ll have to go to the website to check it out. This can be life-changing if you sit down and think about how you can schedule as much as possible. Make a planning day, as if you were a teacher creating lesson plans, and plan and schedule it out. Make sure your copy has hooks. Make sure your social media is built for engagement—and by engagement, I don’t necessarily mean likes or comments. I mean things like swiping left on a carousel or copy that’s so good people press “se

My name is Bella Vasta. Today is episode 307, and we're going to talk about the three things you need to do every day to drive your business into the ground. Bella, why are you talking about this today? Well, you know, I'm in every single pet sitting group out there—you just don't know it. And I see things. I hear things. And they astonish me. Although I know my Jumpers are the elite—they’re the big thinkers, the doers, the visionaries—I know that sometimes we’re not always at our best. And sometimes there are things that we do, or thought processes that we have, that actually end up driving us into the ground. I want you to be aware of those because by being aware of them, it’s going to help you understand where you’re going wrong. All of those “My God, I’m so busy. I’m so stressed out. I have no time,” all of that contributes to driving your business into the ground. Unfortunately, I see people doing things every single day that contribute to this—and I want you to avoid them. I want you to be successful. As always, this might be a short episode, but I really want to drop the knowledge for you guys while you’re walking dogs, driving in the car, at school pickup, doing laundry, working out—whatever it might be—and then move on. So here we go with the quick and dirty. You’ve heard me say this one before, but I have to say it again: If I can literally copy and paste your website and put it on someone else’s, you’re doing it wrong. If your website is generic—it’s like that classic white t-shirt that you can put on anybody—you’re doing it wrong. You need a custom t-shirt that only fits your body, and if I were to wear your custom t-shirt, it would look hideous on me. What does that mean? It means truly knowing who you are and what you stand for, and then talking about it on your website. It means knowing who your avatar is, what their problems are, and addressing that on your website and social media. It’s not about being generic. When you’re generic, people won’t choose you. When you’re generic, people will keep calling down the line because there’s nothing that stops them or holds them on your company. So stop making generic websites. I don’t mean that you can’t use templates—but I want your own pictures, your professional photos that a photographer took and edited for you. I want your language on there. I want to feel you in your social media marketing and your website. If you don’t, that’s going to be one of the things that makes your business obsolete and not that interesting—which means clients and employees will think, “It’s just another company. They don’t really care.” That’s what people are thinking: “It’s just another dog walker. It’s just another pet sitter.” The other way that you can definitely drive your business into the ground—more so drive yourself into the ground—is having the “If you want it done right, then you gotta do it yourself” mentality. How many of you guys have felt that way b

Welcome to another episode of Bella in Your Business. My name is Bella Vasta and, you know guys, I've been in this industry for a very long time. In fact, it’s actually 20 years this year. Back in 2002, I had transferred from the University of Arizona to Arizona State University. And when I did that, it meant that I moved back home. There were a couple of instances that made that happen. But while I was moving back home and I was the eldest, I have a younger brother who’s four years younger than me. So he was still in high school, and my parents were terrified. I don’t know if any of you guys out there had parents that ruled out of fear—sheer fear. They literally have told me in my adult life, “We didn’t want you to get hooked on drugs and we didn’t want you to get HIV.” Like, that was the time. So my parents were extremely strict. I lovingly just say that, you know, my dad’s Sicilian and that kind of explains it all. But when I moved back in, I was a junior in college and I had a boyfriend—a very steady boyfriend, like my first love. And we liked to go karaoke. We used to go karaoke multiple times a week. And I liked to stay out until the bars closed, but my parents didn’t like that. The reason I’m telling you this story is because I had a lady across the street, Sherry, and I used to babysit for her in high school and part of college. And she had a friend, Julie, who had two white dogs—Pomeranians, I would soon learn. And she traveled for work. She traveled almost every week—like Thursday or Tuesday to Friday, or Monday to Wednesday, practically every week. She wanted someone to sleep overnight with her dogs. She had a hot tub, she had a nice, cute little patio home here in Arizona. It was amazing. At the time, she paid me $25 a night to sleep over with her dogs. And at that point, I would have paid her. That’s how I got into the industry, you guys. Well, fast forward 20 years and national awards and selling that business in 2016 with 10 employees and then starting coaching in 2007. Now we’re here, and there’s a lot of lessons that I’ve learned—both personally during it all and now. There was a gal locally, Angela, who used to do things like—I used to always say, “Bella’s is the best.” And then she started to use the thing, “Angela is the best.” And I was like, “No, no, Angela is awesome.” We had gotten nationally and locally award-winning, and she would literally put on her website, “We’re not going to brag that we’re nationally and locally award-winning.” There were a lot of tough lessons that I learned in my younger years that I definitely would have handled a lot differently today. So today’s podcast episode is all about—in my 20 years of experience in the pet industry, here are three things that I’ve learned to cultivate your business. And guys, this is the epitome of—we’re walking down a road, and I’m saying, “Don’t step there. I twisted my ankle or broke my leg and it hurt. Don’t d

In any case, get ready because you're about to get your hashtag Bella Butt Kickin' in this next episode of Bella in Your Business. So what do you say? Let's get ready and jump! Here we go. Welcome everybody to episode 305 of Bella in Your Business. Today we're going to talk about something where we really want to make sure that you stand out. It's not just a matter of being the first person who answers the phone when people call around looking for your service. It's not a question of whether your website worked. I want your customers to fall over themselves to sign up for you. They should be the kind of customers who plan their vacations around you if you're a pet sitter, or who completely trust you to come at whatever time of day to walk their dog because you are the best and there’s no one else they’d ever want to trust with their baby. Today, we're going to talk about seven ways that you can stand out from the competition. These are intangible feelings—things you can’t touch. These are emotions that we get to evoke in people that turn them into raving fans who tell others about us and who truly love our brand. I want you to think about a company or a restaurant that you absolutely love—one where it doesn’t matter how much it costs or what they require of you; your answer is yes. You just love the way they do business so much that you get excited to give them money. Wow, what a concept. Imagine if your clients were excited to give you money every week or month. 1. Have a Beautiful, Intentional Website Your website needs to be beautiful—and that means hiring someone with a design eye. Templates are a good start, but you can always elevate beyond them. Most people are used to seeing a standard look and feel online, so when you change it up and give them something different, it grabs their attention. There’s also something called user experience (UX). I once wrote a blog about why Rover is beating professional pet sitters—and it’s because of their user experience. You can get on Rover, much like Uber, book what you need, and be done in minutes. Many pet sitting and dog walking businesses make the process so convoluted that it stops the sales flow multiple times. The user experience should be fast, simple, and satisfying—like, “Yes! I did it. I finally have a pet sitter, and it only took me three minutes!” Your website isn’t just about what it says—it’s about how it looks, how it feels, and the experience it provides. 2. Create a Show-and-Tell Website That Evokes Emotion Don’t make your site boring or all about you. Make it about your clients—their problems, their pets, their needs. Have fun, interactive visuals—videos that are aesthetically pleasing and immersive. For instance, when you show how you communicate with clients through visit notes, display it inside a mock phone screen as if the viewer were scrolling through a conversation. You could also include top-performing Reels on your services page—something like a fun dog walk reel embedded right into your website. Everyone knows video works, but hardly anyone is doing it right. 3

Episode 304: 4 Hiring Questions To Separate Good From The Great Pet Sitters

What if you knew the right questions to ask that would separate the good, from the great employees? Asking the right hiring questions when searching for employees can weed out ones who may not be the right fit for you or your business. But how do you know what questions to ask? The hiring process shouldn't be a stressful situation that ultimately leaves you empty-handed a few months down the road. You are spending your time and resources trying to find those great employees who will help you grow and scale your business. This week I am speaking from my many years of expertise and giving you the four hiring questions to ask that will separate the good from the great employees you are looking to hire. What would it mean to you and your business if you found the right employees from the start, rather than wasting time training those who aren't going to work out? If hiring the hiring process has left you frustrated or starting over multiple times, this episode will help you head in the right direction. Biggest Takeaways: 4:16 Did you ask the right questions? 6:38 What would they do in a sticky situation? 8:47 The “drink test” 9:57 What does this job mean to you? 12:20 How long can they predict their current availability 14:55 How much do they need to make a month? 16:37 Free Avatar class 9:08 Jazz HR Recommendations: Imagine easily knowing how to find and hire the right candidates. In any case, get ready because you're about to get your hashtag Bella Butt Kickin' in this next episode of Bella in Your Business. So what do you say? Let's get ready and jump. Welcome to another episode of Bella in Your Business. My name is Bella Vasta. And today, my gosh, we're going to continue on this train of hiring great employees because it's pretty tough, right? I think every single small business deals with this. It doesn't matter if you're in the pet sitting business or not. You could be in the housekeeping industry where I've just recently started to gain a lot of friends and followers. But these are tried and true things that we're going to be talking about today—about basically how to separate your interview questions to get from the good people to the great people. And I'm really curious if you guys have any feedback or have found anything while you're interviewing that has been really great. Now, before I get into this, I want to stress that asking the right questions is pivotal in finding someone. A lot of times people say, “I don’t want to hire,” or “I keep hiring bad people,” or “Nobody wants to work.” And my first question is: what is your responsibility in that? Did you ask the right questions? Did you think ahead of time about the exact kind of person you're looking for and then pinpoint situational questions you needed to ask them? The tricky part about this is you can’t just come out and ask a question because it’s kind of like—think about if you’re a lawyer—it’s like a leading question. People start to understand that there’s a “right” answer, and they’ll just give you lip service. When you give more thought-provoking questions that don’t necessarily have a definite yes or no answer, it makes it a little bit more abstract and gets the person talking themselves up on a pedestal—or into a hole. Questions, especially if you’re hiring employees, might sound like this: What would you do if you walked in and a dog was panting on the floor? My question to you would be, “I don’t know what the handbook says. You’re going to train me on that.” There’s a difference, too, in questions depending on whether you’re hiring an employee versus an independent contractor (IC). An IC should come to you already knowing what to do. They should have their own business, their own methods, and the knowledge. An employee, on the other hand, is someone you’re molding—training and coaching in your way. I’m a big proponent of employees. I actually think employees cost less than ICs because most people are paying ICs way too much. And the liability with ICs, if they don’t have their own independent insurance, is astronomical. Who wants to sleep with one eye open at night wondering if they’re going to have a lawsuit or a huge bill to pay? Workman’s compensation helps so much w

You’re all in a hiring blitz. You’re trying to find as many employees as possible. You know that each employee equals a certain amount of revenue to your company. In other words, if you bring someone else on, that means you can now accept another $20,000 in revenue a year in your company because you have the manpower to help support it. So it makes sense to always be hiring. It even makes sense to keep hiring when you think you’re fully staffed—because when you’re constantly hiring, you’re protecting yourself from being stuck when someone leaves or starts slacking. It helps in those situations when you hire someone amazing, but all of a sudden they start having an attitude, and it’s like a thorn in your side. You get a message from them, and you cringe. By always hiring, you give yourself the ability to say, “Sorry, I don’t want you to work for me anymore,” because you’ve got people waiting in the wings. Please, please take this into consideration: you should always be hiring. Alright, let’s get into it. I’m going to give you three things today. You might’ve heard them before, but I don’t think most of you are actually doing them. If you are, let me know. These are things that really help. When I had my own company, I knew that if I did these things, it would get results. Were we perfect? No—but our hiring struggles were minimal. 1. Show and Tell on Social Media If you’re in Better Marketing with Bella, you already have graphics and videos from us—branded, impressive, professional. They make your business look legitimate and not like a fly-by-night mom-and-pop shop that just threw together a Canva graphic. That first impression matters. A potential applicant will think, “Do I even want to spend time applying? Will they take my application seriously?” So, show and tell on social media. Share what it looks like to work for you—your team in action, your day-to-day work, and your company culture. People want to see more than cute pet photos; they want to see you out there doing the work. Then, take it a step f

My name is Bella Vasta. Welcome to episode 302. We are going to be talking about how to find three amazing employees in two weeks. Now this kind of came about because so many of you come to me and say, “Bella, I just lost someone and I need someone. Otherwise, we’re going to have to get a waitlist.” And that means two things are happening. One, we don’t have JazzHR—which you guys need to run on over to jumpconsulting.net/jazzhr and get signed up there. I’ve got lots of podcasts and videos on that, and I’m sure you’ve heard about it before. It will really help you fill that funnel full of employees. But maybe you don’t have it—or maybe you already do, but you want to step it up a notch. I have five different things that you can do to find and hire three amazing employees in two weeks. I’m going to tell you exactly what this is and how to do it. It’s something you can systematize and always be doing, so you’ll never be caught off guard trying to find employees. So I want you to think about: Are you doing these things? Can you do them better or more consistently? Because I’m telling you from personal experience—and from my clients—it works. Let your ego go and stop thinking, “Oh my God, Bella doesn’t know what she’s talking about.” Or, “That only works for her.” No. It works for a lot of my clients. So without further ado, let’s get down and dirty. This might be a long episode or a short one—I don’t know. Whenever I’m done talking and teaching you, that’s when it’ll end. The very first one is to have multiple hiring ads, talking to multiple different avatars. The problem I see so many times is that you’re being so generic with your hiring ad that it just sounds like another corporate job hiring for some random person. I want that hiring ad to almost be like a love letter to people so that they feel like you’re speaking directly to them—like, “My God, this is exactly me. I have to apply for this job.” Now, when I say that, I mean things like a job ad to: The mom who doesn’t feel like she has a place anymore because her kids are in high school and more independent. The person who works from home and wants to get out of the house to make some side money. The freelancer who lives and works in the same place and just wants a reason to go outside. If you don’t know what I mean, go to joinjumpconsulting.com—that’s my free three-hour Jump & Scale class that teaches you how to figure out your different avatars so you can create those different hiring ads. Please, you guys, this needs to be posted every week. If you have three or four avatars, those job ads should be going up constantly—even when you’re not actively hiring—so that you always have a pool of applicants. The next thing is to contact ringleaders, networkers, and people who are connected to a lot of people. Think about PTO or PTA presidents, realtors who run local community pages, or popular coffee shop owners that everyone knows. Think about c

My name is Bella Vasta and today we have episode 301. Last week was a big party—it was birthday week for myself and my daughter—but we are now heading into even more podcasts. I never thought when I started off that I would have this many podcasts, but this has become my thing. And I love it because I've been able to really get to know a lot of you guys. And if there's one thing that I know about you, it’s that you want to know what mistakes to look for and what potholes to avoid. I used to say a lot when I first started that being a coach is like saying, “Ooh, don’t go down that road—it’s really bumpy and I hurt my head. Go the other way.” Hopefully, this podcast will do that for you today. We’re going to talk about the five hidden mistakes that cost pet sitters—and how you can avoid them. The first one has a lot to do with episodes 298 and 299, where we talked about how to choose software and make sure it’s working for you and not against you. What do I mean by that? Well, I’ve met some people who literally have intake forms, take that information, and then put it in a three-ring binder, and then they re-enter it into the system. Or they’re not using credit card processing through their software. Or the sales process just stops. Any one of those reasons can cause someone to bounce—and that means you lose revenue. The extra steps, the inefficiencies—they’re costing you time. And if you’re paying someone to do that, it’s also costing you money. It’s super important that your systems and processes are as smooth as possible because that saves you both time and money—and time is money. If you’re one of those people who say, “You don’t get it, Bella—it just takes me a couple extra minutes, I don’t mind,” go back and listen to my mindset episode. That’s a disaster waiting to happen, because all those little inefficiencies add up. They make you feel overwhelmed, overworked, and stressed out. The next one is not having your branding everywhere. Why does that cost you something? Because when people see a logo or visual identity consistently, they start to recognize it—and they begin to feel something about that brand. You might not even be a customer, but you’ve already formed an impression. Think about McDonald’s. The minute you see those golden arches, it’s not just yellow—it means something to you. Here in Arizona, there’s a local Italian restaurant called Oregano’s. They have the funniest sayings, and their colors are always red, black, and white—mostly red. Whenever I see that color combination or their branding, I instantly recognize it and associate it with a certain feeling. That’s what strong branding does. If you want to see an example of great branding in the pet industry, check out Golden Tails Dog Walking—that’s Kathy, an avid listener of this podcast. She has two locations—one in Miami and one in Colorado—and her branding is gorgeous. Another great one is Dog Jogs up in Canada. You’ll start to see how these companies make you feel something just by their visuals and voice. If you don’t have your branding everywhere—or you don’t even have a logo—stop this podcast right now

Welcome everybody to the 300th episode of Bella in Your Business. I want to just start this off by honoring you and saying thank you so much for being here with me. Whether you've listened from the very first episode or you're just a recent listener or even a sporadic listener, I just seriously want to say thank you. It is the biggest honor for me to be in your ears while you're walking dogs, doing laundry, cooking, or driving the kids around. I don’t take that lightly. Every single episode, I want to speak directly to you—to help encourage, inspire, and motivate you, and let you know that you can do hard things. Having a business is very hard—and you can do hard things. I would not be here without you guys, without seeing that our stats keep going up and up and up. There’s about a thousand downloads a week right now, and it wouldn’t be worth it without you. It’s those emails, text messages, and DMs that say, “I really loved that episode, thank you for doing it,” that make all the difference. In honor of the 300th episode, I’ve updated the podcast cover—it’s been the same since 2016! You might’ve noticed it looks a little different now, which is exciting. I also want to give a shoutout to all the kids who listen—hey, what’s up? Leia’s kids, Randi’s kids, and everyone else out there. And to those of you who regularly repost or DM me—like Christine and Kathy—thank you. This wouldn’t be worth it unless it was a two-way conversation. This week, the episode goes live on July 21st, which happens to be my daughter’s birthday. My birthday is on the 18th, and hers is on the 21st. I checked into the hospital eight years ago on my birthday and had her on a Monday. I started this podcast back in June 2014—one episode a month at first. It wasn’t until 2016 that I started producing episodes consistently every Thursday, and we’ve pretty much kept that up ever since. I listened back to my first episode recently. It was called How to Get Through the Hiring Slumps. I was recording inside my walk-in closet because my whole

Episode 299: Is Your Pet Sitting Software Working For Or Against You?

Jodi came to me wondering how she could get more clients. We took a look into her systems and found out that the way in which she is having people sign up was stopping the sale from happening. She was having to send UN and PW to a new user and while they were waiting for that to happen, they were finding other solutions. Her software was working against her. When you compare Jodi's sign up to Rover, the potential new client was able to sign up quickly and check off PET CARE for their trip to Cancun and be done with it. With Jodi, they were left wondering if she received their info and what the next step was. Her software was working against her. So much, that every year in the Mastermind, we actually go through five members' websites and sign up. We time how long it takes to sign up and if there are any spot points. There are some very popular software out there that actually STOP the sales process. Today, we are diving deep into ways that your software might be working against you. My goal is to make sure that your software is an asset to your sales process and not a liability. BTW - As I wrote these notes.... I wonder if anyone actually READS them. Will you send me an email to bella at jumpconsulting.net and let me know? Ok, onto the epsiode! :) Biggest Takeaways: 3:29 Don’t Overwhelm your client 4:00 Mastermind guide about how to use software 4:40 Important aspects of how to choose pet sitting software 5:28 Simple is better 6:10 Why Rover Is Beating The Professional Pet Sitter 7:53 Free tool for finding software 8:19 GPS importance 8:56 Quickbook integration 13:19 Screenshots on your website 14:30 Big Surprise! 14:50 Get to my Instagram for the offer Recommendations: If you find yourself google searching "how to choose a pet sitting software" then my newly developed (free!) software tool is for you. This is episode 299. Next week, we're gonna have a party, and I can't wait to get there. But first, we're gonna continue on the software train and talk a little bit more about whether your pet business software is working for you or against you. There are all different kinds of software. In the last episode, I told you that we compared 19 software systems altogether on a comparison chart. Rather than just giving you that chart, we went ahead and gave you the option to pick five of your most important features, and then it spits back the software that has them. You don’t have to worry about being overloaded with too many choices or decision fatigue. All you gotta do is go to jumpconsulting.net/software — that’s completely free. I encourage you to post it everywhere and help all of your fellow sitters out. As a pet business owner, you know that having the right software can make or break your business. But what are the right software tools for your business? How do you know which one to choose? How do you know if you should switch software if you’re not getting a return on your investment with your current one? Maybe your software is making you create more processes in your client onboarding because it’s not intuitive enough. I’ve gotten under the hood of so many businesses where I see them making ten steps when they only need two, but they have to “Mickey Mouse” it together. My dad used to call that a Mickey Mouse fix—gluing things together just to make them work. It becomes more complicated than it needs to be. So really think about this: is your software working for you or against you? Is it helping the flow of clients come in, or is it stopping the sales process? Some popular software completely stops the process and overwhelms clients. They go from “help me solve my problem” to “this is too much, I’ll deal with it later.” The right software won’t do that. It’s an important tool for business owners—especially pet businesses. They all require a little bit of your customization, but it should make life easier, not harder. In the Mastermind, once a year, we record how at least five different companies use their systems. It’s eye-opening because whi

Episode 298: Common Mistakes To Avoid When Using Pet Sitting Software

Pet sitting software is a crucial aspect of running an efficient business. Many business owners find themselves either without software or paying for one they aren't even using to its fullest potential. And as a business owner, you want to do everything that helps move your business forward by thinking smarter, not working harder. There are common mistakes I see business owners make when utilizing or choosing the correct pet sitting software. Is your client communication in multiple areas? How do you prefer your clients to book? Where do they go? How do you schedule and how is it communicated with your sitters? We are seeing many business owners use software for one spect instead of utilizing it to the fullest, costing them time, money, and sanity in the long run. Today I am talking about the 5 important points to look at when choosing or using pet sitting software and how you can avoid some common mistakes. I am also so excited to reveal a 6-month-long project I have been working on in this episode that I think will be so helpful when it comes to pet sitting software. Biggest Takeaways: 1:52 Software will help you 2:15 time spending 3:30 What is your booking process? 4:35 Client information 7:05 How do you schedule? 7:31 primary & secondary sitters 8:20 Your Communication 9:55 Something big I have been working on! 10:40 jumpconsulting.net/software Recommendations: When it comes to choosing your pet sitting software, there are many different things that may be important to you and your business. Hi there, I'm Bella Vasta from Jump Consulting. In any case, get ready because you're about to get your hashtag Bella Butt Kickin' in this next episode of Bella in Your Business. So what do you say? Let's get ready and jump. Welcome to another episode of Bella in Your Business. My name is Bella Vasta, and today we're going to take it back to a topic that we're going to start a little mini-series on — and that is software. This is the software that you use to keep track of your clients, schedules, and your employee shifts. We're going to talk a lot about it because I think it's important as I start this series to kind of begin from a mutual understanding. I've learned to never assume anything because, as they say, “when you assume, you make an ass out of you and me.” Ever heard of that? So, there are so many people out there who have either never used software or have one but barely use it. It’s like having an iPhone and only using it to make phone calls — what? No! It’s used for so much more than that. And especially if you’re paying for one of the more expensive ones, it’s really important that you get your return on investment (ROI) and use it fully. So, we’re going to start today by stressing how much your software can actually support you. I’ve got five different areas, and I want you to think about either:A. how it could help you if you’re not using it, orB. if you’re already using it — are you using it to its full potential? This is going to be a shorter episode, but don’t skip over it — it’s a good check-in. 1. Hours Saved Obviously, software saves you hours. It automates tasks. How many of you have recurring daily dog-walking clients? Do you have that on automatic recurring schedules? What about staff schedules — are you still trying to manually figure out employee shifts? Or does your software auto-populate those schedules? If not, you’re losing time. And here’s a spoiler alert — at the end, I’m going to give you a brand-new tool that I’ve had a developer working on regarding software that you’re not going to want to miss. But first, let’s continue. 2. Booking Now, something I used to love doing — and this is a true story — when clients called me to book, I would literally tell them, “My gosh, I’m so excited that you called. However, I don’t have access to the system right now and I want to make sure we don’t mess up. So can you please go online and schedule it? As soon as you do, I’ll hit the accept button.” Then I’d go quiet. Even if I did have access to the system, I’d still say that — because it’s important to train clients to book themselves. You can do this with employees too. Many scheduling systems allow them to request time off directly — no back-and-forth texts or extra admin work. If you’re doing that manually, you’re creating “virtual assistant” tasks for yourself that your system c

Episode 297: Why You Shouldn’t Be Afraid To Job Share in 2022

Let's talk about job share... Job sharing can actually be a GREAT thing... and you already are probably taking on BIGGER liability in your pet sitting and dog walking business. This episode will give insight into a different way of thinking. Now is the time to be creative, think about how we are going to get our sales up. The big R (recession) is coming (or is it here?) and we have to think differently to achieve more. Some of you might say, "Insurance companies will not cover you if you job share." Well, that's FALSE. I reached out to my friends over at Business Insurers of the Carolinas and this is what he said: "I received your phone message. You are absolutely correct that you are still covered by insurance if job sharing. However I typically recommend if you are going to be sharing jobs with a nanny, a neighbor, a teenage son/daughter, or even another dog walker or pet sitter, that you get a release/addendum signed by the owner releasing you of any liability while others are also in and out of the home." The pet business industry has seen many claims involving theft of clients' property, as well as property damage, and injuries to pets. And typically we see them blamed on the insured pet sitter or dog walker. Especially when the person they share the job with does not have any insurance. As a result, we have seen claims denied as there was no concrete proof of who caused the incident. Both situations are not typically ideal, as it increases both liability and the potential for a denied claim if no proof can be established. So, it is certainly fine to job share if the client wishes to increase their liability exposure and do so. I do recommend amending contract language to have the client hold our insured harmless for liability or theft while others are in and out of the home." Do you want to hear how I think you can leverage this to get even more daily dog walking clients? Biggest Takeaways: We need to get our sales up (2:24) Insurance coverage (5:36) Why you should job share (8:00) What other liability you are already taking on that is even riskier (8:53) It is possible (10:48) Links: Better Marketing With Bella Mastermind Gingr Pet-Care Software Transcript: This is episode 297 of Bella in Your Business. We're going to be talking all about why you should job share. Now, before you go and hit skip to the next episode, I want you to hear me out here because I've got two really big reasons today that I want you to think about. We talked about this in a prior episode when we were talking about sales—how to get sales, especially in a volatile market. You might be a dog-walking company or pet-sitting company, but maybe you’re a dog-walking company that does not want to do any more vacation visits because you don’t want to do weekends or AM and PM shifts. I got you, boo. I understand. So if anyone comes in and says, “Hey, we need a dog walker. We're going on vacation, and we have someone staying at the house, but we need someone to exercise our dog in the middle of the day,” you might say, “Hell to the no.” Or if you’re a pet-sitting company and someone calls saying, “We just want you to come in the mornings or just midday. We have someone sleeping over,” or “Our neighbor will check in the evening, but we just need coverage in the morning,” you might also say, “Nope, we don’t do that.” No, no, we’re not going to do that anymore, you guys. And I'm going to tell you why today. I want to give you some food to think about, some bones to chew on. Try not to negate me right away—just hear me out. I’ve got two really good points for you. The reason I’m thinking more creatively right now is because we’re in a time where we have to figure out how we’re going to keep our sales up. You might say, “Bella, I can’t hire fast enoug

Or have you recently increased your dog walking prices, and now you're thinking it may not be enough... harging the wrong amount can be the difference between a thriving business and going out of business. Ouch There is so much to consider before increasing your prices, so that you don't find yourself sinking six months later. Today, I am going to tell you everything you need to know, before increasing your pet sitting prices. Biggest Takeaways: Before increasing your pet sitting prices, it is important to have a sound pricing structure and strategy in place. This is your time to rectify any mistakes you might have made with your old pricing structure, and apply new found knowledge to your future prices. Creating a pricing strategy that works best for your business requires consideration and time. What should you be researching? Have you thought about your competition? Should you? Is the value you provide worth the increase? What about staff wages? Considering important aspects and knowing how to navigate them is some of the first steps in creating a sound pricing structure for your pet sitting business. Recommendations: The value you provide shines through your website and social media. Welcome to another episode of Bella in Your Business. My name is Bella Vasta, your host, and today we’re going to talk all about creating a pricing structure in today’s economy. Now, this is going to be an interesting topic—not just for those starting out, but for anyone who already has a business and is adjusting pricing right now due to inflation and rising minimum wage laws. We need to talk about this because some of my Jumpers are doing really well, while others are literally going under and are cash-poor. I’ll start by saying this—the economy is going to get worse before it gets better. I really want to encourage you to have cash in the bank, in your business account, because you may have rainy days ahead. You don’t want to be caught off guard like many were in 2020, robbing Peter to pay Paul just to stay afloat. Hopefully today’s podcast ignites ideas for you on how to recession-proof and grow your business. Now, let me add some context. The last major recession that impacted small businesses was in 2008, when the housing market crashed. I had my pet sitting company at that time, and I decided, “Screw the recession.” I dove deep into Dan Kennedy’s No BS Marketing to the Affluent. I’ve done several book clubs on that book, and it talks all about the “affluent mindset.” It’s not about being rich—it’s about believing you and your pet deserve better. That’s the mindset I want you to have as you listen today, because in order to thrive through this economy, you need to see ahead—take off the blinders and think strategically. Everything I’ve predicted this year is coming true. Everyone was having record-breaking months in March. We’re now in “revenge vacation” mode—people are traveling like crazy. But travel prices are astronomical. A ticket to Dallas costs what first class used to cost to the East Coast. Inflati

Episode 295: How To Use an SOP for Your Pet Sitting Business

Does the thought of creating an SOP for your pet sitting business leave you feeling overwhelmed? Or have you hired an office manager but had that completely blow up in your face due to the lack of an SOP? Or even worse, take the route of starting to create one, just to end up with an unfinished mess of documents that serve the business no purpose. While it may sound intimidating, an SOP will make everything run much smoother. SOP For Your Pet Sitting Business An SOP is a Standard Operating Procedure that is essential for making sure all of your operations are carried out in a consistent and efficient manner. By having an SOP in place, everyone on your team will be following the same procedures and guidelines. This week I am helping understand the process of creating and executing this document step by step. Biggest Takeaways: For a business owner, being able to delegate means you are able to work on your business rather than in your business. But without an SOP you cannot delegate to your team. With the right steps, creating an SOP for your pet sitting business will establish a cohesive understanding for all staff members. How you create your SOP will be determined by certain criteria: What is the goal of an SOP? What platform will you use to execute this document? How will you implement it? What steps do you need to include? A fluid, changeable document that will evolve with your business and define duties and roles, will establish a smooth process for staff, clients, and business owners alike. Recommendations: Mastermind members have access to premium recommendations when it comes to creating an SOP for their pet sitting business. They have the support of fellow members while also gaining knowledge and advice from experts who have been in this industry for many years. It's a community worth checking out. Jumpers have exclusive insight into how to execute their business processes in a way that gains them, clients and employees. Welcome to another episode of Bella in Your Business. My name is Bella Vasta. I'm back with you here today and I'm so excited to talk to you about the process of creating an SOP for your business. If you remember back in episode 293, we talked about the mistakes that people make with their office manager. Well, I got questions like, “How do we actually get it down in writing?” and “What do we actually do to delegate that out?” It just so happens that this month is actually Delegation Month in the Mastermind. Every single month we have different themes, and we tend to recreate them every single year—but with new information. So when I say the Mastermind has been around for five years, and that we have five years’ worth of delegation information, it’s true. Every year, we add more and more. Before we dive into today’s topic, let’s define SOP. You’ve probably heard it online, in Facebook groups, at conferences, in books, or on podcasts. An SOP is a Standard Operating Procedure—it’s how you proceed to operate your business. It’s essential for ensuring that all of your operations are carried out in a consistent and effective manner. Think of McDonald’s. It doesn’t matter if you’re at a McDonald’s in Scottsdale, Arizona, your town, or Germany—a Big Mac is a Big Mac. You know what to expect because everything follows the same SOP. As this relates to your pet sitting and dog walking business, SOPs are the difference between a client knowing that no matter who you send, they’ll have the same experience—same communication, same level of c

Episode 294: 4 Horrendous Mistakes Many Pet Business Owners Make With Their CPA

If I asked you today, "how do your books look?" or "did you have any big surprises from your taxes?" would either of those questions confuse you? Scare you? Leave you feeling a bit unsure? That might sound invasive, but to evaluate your business, you have to be in the know of these aspects. You are not alone if you find this area tough to evaluate, but there is someone who can help you manage it all... your CPA. Owning a pet business can be extremely rewarding, but it also comes with a lot of responsibility. Keeping good books being one of them. One of the most important aspects of running a pet business is making sure you have a good relationship with your CPA. However, many business owners make these mistakes every year, which can damage this relationship and their business. I know tax season may have come to an end, but it actually is perfect timing for you to meet with your CPA. Or maybe you have your extension until October. Either way, in this episode I will encourage you to talk with your CPA to avoid these 4 horrendous mistakes too many business owners are making. Biggest Takeaways: I know some business owners are paralyzed in fear when it comes to their finances, I get it. However, you need someone, the right someone, to be in your corner to answer all the questions that you need to know to ensure your business, your finances, and your livelihood are taken care of. A business owner should ensure they are taken care of all around. How often do you speak with your CPA? Have you ever been surprised by a big tax bill? Do you know what is a right off? What options do you have for incentives for your staff? What about SCorp Vs LLC? There are 4 huge mistakes being made when thinking about the questions above, and I do not want to see you repeat any of them. There are ways to avoid them and confirm your business continues on the right path. Recommendations: Mastermind just welcomed a large group of new (and old) jumpers into the community. Now, we’ve had conversations about office managers before, but we haven’t talked about the mistakes people make. I really want to get clear on this because after talking to so many of you during intensives—those six 45-minute Zoom sessions—I’ve noticed a pattern. The same reoccurring problems show up, no m

Episode 292: Staff Members Leave The Manager, Not The Job

Do you feel like you have a high turnover? Have you ever thought about why you have turnover? Do you know? Is it because of seasonal employees? young staff members moving on? or even life situations? Maybe so! But what if I were to blow your mind and have you consider something you might not have considered, but really can make a huge difference in whether employees stay or go? It could be your management style, you as an owner, or your manager! Bad management can turn even some of the best, most reliable staff members on your team away. And if nothing is done about the management, it will continue to happen. Because when the wrong person is named a manager, nothing can entice good employees to stay. Statistics show, that more than half of employees with bad management are thinking about changing careers, and that half of them will quit because of this bad manager. As the owner, you want the ability to step away from your business so you can focus on all the aspects that help you and your business grow. When you are bogged down with the everyday task of your employees, growth is put on the back burner. This week I am giving you four things to consider in order to be a better business manager. Biggest Takeaways: Employees are not solemnly enticed by just money. They want to feel valued, important, and needed. Having good management will ensure the longevity of your staff and keep the morale of the business high. It might be time to evaluate your management team and see if turnover could be due to their lack of good management Do your managers know the staff members why? How does their tone affect the staff? What does the work environment look like? What is their leadership type? How do their expectations impact the staff? It is important to know how your management is affecting business before staff members walk out the door. Recommendations: If you're looking for a community that is going to uplift you, challenge you, and help you grow I encourage you to look at the Mastermind group. You will find all the HR answers, business tips, and support you need to help run your business. While you are looking to continue and hire your employees, do not take your eye off marketing. You know, I just finished this hiring pop-up group last week, and it went really well. There was a lot of information—it was like a fire hose, honestly. I was really teaching a lot about systems for interviewing, for onboarding, for training, and just trying to draw awareness to everybody about how much you’re stabbing yourself in the eyeballs by not having sexy, exciting, fast, smooth experiences when you’re hiring people. And I’m going to kind of keep on that same thought process as I talk about why do people leave you? Because imagine—last podcast we talked about “Would you hire everyone back?” Right? So let’s just assume this is a perfect world and you are completely staffed and they’re all the best staff ever. I

Episode 291: The Single Most Important Question You Need To Ask Yourself About Your Staff

Take a moment with me if you will and think about your staff. Do you have a rockstar staff member? Someone who is your number one, most reliable member? And what would your business look like if everyone on the team was just like this rockstar? What about your staff workload? Is it spread equally across the board, or do some members receive more work than others because of their ability? Evaluating your staff members are an important aspect of moving your business forward. If you are done being a helicopter CEO and ready to step out of the business, there is one very important question you need to be asking yourself about your staff. And this week, I am here to ask that question. Biggest Takeaways: Are you having trouble of letting go "bad seeds" out of fear of not having enough staff? You only want to hire when you have the work You are having trouble getting out of the field and focusing on business rather than the work The fear of too many employees holds you hostage to mediocre relationships with your staff members Evaluating your staff and asking the important questions can and will get you to a place of abundance that allows you to become the CEO you desire. Recommendations: It is not too late to jump into my FREE hiring group that has been going on this week. Yes, it started Monday, but all the good information is there for you to get caught up on. The live events are recorded and will be there to watch until Friday, May 20th. I filled the group with the most useful information you will need when it comes to hiring and building up your team members, answering probably all the questions you were thinking. Welcome to another episode of Bella in Your Business. My name is Bella Vasta, coming to you with a little bit of a sad heart today. I debated on telling you guys this, but you know, if you've been with me for almost 300 episodes, at some point, you’ve heard a soundtrack that we won’t be hearing anymore. That soundtrack is Rocco in the background barking because Amazon was delivering to my house yet again, or the pool man was here and he was really excited. Rocco was 12 years old, and last night I had to make the really tough decision that I know many of you have also had to do—to send him over Rainbow Bridge. I was very grateful for my parents coming over. My mom came over and took my daughter out to go get a toy at Target, and my dad stayed with me. I told Rocco to go to sleep, and he was a really good boy. For any of you who’ve had to do this before, I feel your pain. Rocco was there for me from 2010—right after I started coaching. He was there when I was dating a lot, meeting suitors, in my wedding, and when we brought Olivia home from the hospital. He was even therapy-certified at one point and had the best heart. So, wow. What do you do? What do you tell the kids? I told Olivia the truth—that Rocco went to go be with Jesus. That’s what we believe in our house. I also told her to tell Jesus, “Thank you for giving us Olivia.” I don’t know what’s appropriate to say on here, but that’s my heart. And so that is appropriate. This episode is in memory of Rocco the Rockstar. This week, we’re going to be talking about employees. I’ve started a pop-up group—if you haven’t joined yet, go to jumpconsulting.net/hire. It’s only this week. Even if you’re catching this late, you can still join and read everything in a day. The group will close in about 48 hours, but it’s still time to get in if you’d like. I’ve thrown a ton of deals in there, but I’ve also challenged you to think about hiring differently. Times are changing, and your mindset needs to shift. I’ve seen the same situations happen in free groups and in my community—but how people handle them makes all the difference. For example, hiring someone who quits after one day—some people lose it, others use it as a learning moment. I want to inspire you to join that group, see how I thi

Welcome, everybody, to another episode of Bella in Your Business. I got all up in your business last episode—and boy, did you guys love that. I’m really excited because I kind of had a little bit of trepidation about actually posting that, since I never want to give life to negative things. But there was such a teaching moment in there about figuring out where you’re spending your time, eyes, and ears—what you’re putting into your body—and how all of that relates to how successful you can be. As I illustrated with all of the cool things being posted in the Mastermind—like amazing Claire hiking the Appalachian Trail—you have to have the courage to do the hard things, like I did in that last episode. We’re going to move on today, but before we get into that, I want to remind you that right now we’re accepting members for my pop-up group called Hiring Employees in 2022. It’s happening Monday through Friday, May 16th to the 20th. I’ve got so much content already prepared for you—about five posts a day—and the guides are filled with resources. When I say resources, don’t hear “buy my products.” About 80% of the things I do are totally free. So if you’re willing to do things differently, you definitely need to join that group because I’m going to expand your brain. You’re going to be like, “What?” And I’ll be like, “Yeah, for real—it works. Do it.” You’ll probably try it begrudgingly to prove me wrong, but then it’ll work, and you’ll be like, “Bella just helped me solve my hiring problem!” So head over to jumpconsulting.net/hire to join the group. That’s jumpconsulting.net/hire. Today we’re continuing the theme about hiring, and we’re going to talk about how to attract multiple applicants to your business. Because I think another mindset shift a lot of us need to make is that we often think we just need to hire one person. You’re only looking for one, and you position it that way. You write your job description,

Welcome to another episode of Bella in Your Business. My name is Bella Vasta. I'm feeling so much better this week, and boy, am I feeling fired up. This is going to be a pretty feisty episode. I’ll try to keep it a reasonable length, but we are going to be talking back. If you are just joining this podcast, I want to state a little bit of my philosophy so you can decide whether or not you want to keep binging on Bella—or if you want to go to another avenue, which is totally fine—because I am here to take a stand. I’m here to tell you exactly what I believe, why my clients are extremely successful, and to address the trolls. I am not politically correct, and there’s no need for people to be bashing or slandering my name online in what they think are private groups—even though I’m a member of every single Facebook pet-sitting group out there. You just don’t know it. And most of the time, before I even see it, my loyal customers are screenshotting things and sending them to me. So we’re going to talk about that, and I’m going to fact-check and blow the lid off of it with receipts. Then I’m going to follow it up by telling you about one of the biggest success stories from one of my clients happening right now—something I’ve never seen in 15 years of coaching. It’s going to inspire almost every single one of you to finally do that one thing burning in your heart that you haven’t unlocked yet. Are you ready? Taking a Stand You’re either going to love me or hate me—and that’s okay. Taking a stand and drawing a line in the sand isn’t always popular. Sometimes it might offend people, and that’s something I had to grow into. But here’s the truth: when something offends you, it’s often because it touched something unhealed inside of you. Nobody can offend you without your consent. For years, I’ve taken stands before they were popular. When everyone had indepe

A lot of business owners are trying desperately to hire employees right now, but are facing issues such as long waitlists, difficulty finding qualified candidates, candidates dropping out of the interview process, or quitting shortly after being hired. These problems are running rampant in the industry and it is probably because of one of these three things: Too long of an onboarding process, too much back and forth with new employees, and needing help with the probationary period. In any case, get ready because you’re about to get your hashtag Bella Butt Kickin’ in this next episode of Bella in Your Business. So what do you say? Let’s get ready and jump! Welcome to another episode of Bella in Your Business. My name is Bella Vasta, and today I’m a little under the weather. I might sound a little bit more raspy than I usually sound—thank you, Arizona allergies. It might not snow here, but it sure does snow these little yellow things from the Palo Verde trees. So please forgive me in this episode. We’re going to talk a lot today about how to overcome three of the biggest mistakes I see when people are trying to hire somebody—and it’s right at the very beginning, typically. I’ve helped revamp so many hiring processes for people. I do them in person during the intensives, and I do them online through Zoom intensives. And one thing is clear: there’s a pattern. There’s a pattern of mistakes that people are making. So, we’re going to throw the lid off of it today. It might be a shorter podcast because, one, I’m going to tell you these three things straight up, and two, I literally can’t talk that long. But you’re definitely in for a value-packed treat today. Everyone’s looking to hire employees right now. I think I mentioned on a previous podcast, we’ve been reaching out to a lot of people every single day just to have conversations with you guys and get a feel for what’s going on right now. As we mentioned previously, there’s a big, huge bubble coming. I just got off the phone with Tiffany from Pet in Home Care, and she called it “revenge traveling.” I loved that phrase! Everyone’s breaking records right now, which is pretty typical—we’re seeing it everywhere. However, that’s not going to last, right? Every bubble pops. So I want to encourage you—do not take your eyes off of hiring. We’re still thinking about doing a special hiring group for free for you guys because I want you to succeed. But let me ask: are you trying desperately to hire right now? Are you on a waitlist? Do you feel like you can’t find anyone? Like nobody applies, or they don’t follow through? Maybe they stop halfway through your interview process, or they ghost you at interviews. I’ve heard of a lot of people getting ghosted—are you one of them? Or maybe they quit right after they start. I just saw a screenshot from an employee who was hired and, on her first day, said, “Actually, I don’t want this job. I’m just kidding.” And of course, the business owner was like, “What in the world?” It’s hard not to take that personally, right?

Our members were buzzing with questions, and I’m so grateful to her for joining us. Another big update: I’ve booked my first international intensive! I’ve got clients coming down from Canada next month. They’re comin

Episode 286: The Biggest Part Of Social Media That Everyone Is Missing

Social media has become an important part of marketing, but many people are missing the biggest part: outreach 98% of people are neglecting this element of their social media strategy and then are surprised when they are not finding success in growing their business. Outreach is key to a successful social media marketing strategy, and yet, so many people are missing out on this vital piece. It all starts with outreach. Outreach social media marketing is the process of connecting with potential customers and followers who are not already familiar with your brand or business. It is actively reaching out to your target audience and engaging with them in a way that builds relationships. On this week's podcast, I answer the question "Why is engagement so important to your business" and how you should be utilizing this strategy every day to increase your business. Biggest Takeaways: When it comes to social media marketing, people seem to be lacking the social part of it. Without reaching outside of your immediate followers, businesses will not be able to reach their full potential on social media. Outreach is all about connecting with other people and businesses in (and out of) your industry. It's a way to build relationships, expand your reach, and get more eyes on your brand. Outreach is often overlooked as a key component of social media marketing, but it can be the difference between success and failure. If you're not reaching out to new people, you're missing out on potential customers and followers. If you want to see success in social media marketing this is where you begin. Recommendations: The doors for Better Marketing With Bella are open for a short while longer and will not be open again until 2023. If you are ready to save time and energy on content creation, this is for you. Staying relevant and informed in the social media world is the highest priority of business owners right now, and we are ensuring they are. Links: Are you new here? Welcome, welcome, welcome to another episode of Bella in Your Business. You guys, I have been talking to so many of you. I don’t know if you know—or if I even told you—but last month we actually had this really big initiative inside Jump Consulting to talk to as many people as we possibly could on Instagram. So if you’re one of our listeners and you got a DM from us—yes, that was us! And also, thanks for engaging with us. I have so much stuff out there for you. I’ve got a YouTube channel with over 200 videos. I’ve got a blog with over 500 posts. I’ve got a podcast that’s reaching 300 episodes—and who knows how much information on Facebook. I feel like I’m sitting on a treasure trove of resources for you. And along those interactions that we’ve been having, two things became apparent to me. One of them inspired today’s topic, which is something brand new that you’ve probably never heard anyone talk about before. So I’m really excited to bring it to you. But first, a quick shout-out! One of the incredible people I’ve been chatting with and getting to know is Leia. She’s a phenomenally hilarious, hardworking mama who I am so business-attracted to because of her mindset. She’ll say things like, “My initial reaction is this—but I know that’s a lie, so I went deeper and thought about it.” My gosh, that mindset is going to get her everywhere. And if any of you can relate, that’s the mindset that will take you to success. Upon talking to her, it was really cool because I learned she, like a lot of my other listeners, actually listens in the car with her kids. Nicholas and Tate, I want to say what’s up—and this is your Bella Butt Kickin’ today! It was a really funny story. Leia said that when we were texting back and forth on Instagram, one of her sons said, “Hey Mom, it’s the Bella

Welcome to another episode of Bella in Your Business. Today, we are going to continue on our theme of social media, and I’m going to talk to you about people who really need social media. You might find yourself in this, but I’ve got three distinct types of people that really need to be killing it on social media—especially right now in April of 2022—as we go into this volatile market. Everything’s happening. We’ve got Ukraine going on, economies collapsing, interest rates going up, possible food shortages coming. People are kind of getting a little scared, and I get it. But that means that people get scared to buy. When you are a luxury dog walking service—which, I’ve got news for you, you all are a luxury dog walking service because no dog needs to be walked—it’s purely an emotional buy from all of your clients. So please let’s agree on that right now. If we can agree that you have a luxury service, then we also need to agree that your worth and value really need to shine. There are three people—and this might not be a long podcast today because it’s going to be really direct and probably hit you right smack in the middle of the eyeballs—but there are three distinct people that need to be killing it on social media right now. 1. Those Looking for Employees If you’re looking for employees, I cannot even begin to tell you how many people are doing it wrong. Most of you aren’t even mentioning it. And if you are, it’s literally just a spammy advertisement saying, “I need employees. Do you want to work for us?” Here’s the thing: if someone is looking to work for you, they are instantly wondering, “Wow, are they going to be able to pay me my paycheck? How professional of a company is this?” Because most people don’t even realize that pet sitting or dog walking is an actual prof

Hi there, I’m Bella Vasta from Jump Consulting. You might know me from CBS, NBC, Fox, Huffington Post, Entrepreneur, or maybe you’ve seen me speak on stage or read my book The Four Dogs That Every Business Owner Needs. In any case, get ready because you’re about to get your hashtag Bella Butt Kickin’ in this next episode of Bella in Your Business. So what do you say? Let’s get ready and jump! Have you ever just wondered if all of your efforts on social media are worth it? You’re posting and tagging and putting up stories and making reels, but you ask yourself, “Does this even actually make any difference in my business?” Today, we’re going to dive right into that. I’ve gotten not just one, not two, but at least three emails this month where people have said, “My gosh, Bella, I just don’t know if the ROI—return on investment—of social media is actually worth it.” And guys, I’m here to tell you—it is. I’m going to refrain from talking about myself building almost a half-million-dollar coaching company purely on social media. I’m going to refrain from mentioning the speaking gigs I’ve landed or the travel I’ve been able to do because of social media. And I’ll even refrain from mentioning that I’ve built a podcast approaching 300 episodes just from social media—because I know that I am not you, and you are not me. So instead, I’m going to break it down for you step by step. Social media and online presence shorten the customer journey. Social media amplifies the impact of social proof through word of mouth. As I record this, I’m doing part of it live on my Instagram account—instagram.com/bellavasta—and there are seven people watching right now. That’s more enticing than if there were just one. And if there were 200, you’d be wondering, “What am I missing out on?” Social media does help. Think back to when you were searching for a restaurant, a housekeeper, or a resort. You didn’t just trust the website—you went to social media. You wanted to see behind-the-scenes photos, real-time content, and authentic posts. If you’re like me, you also click “Recent” on Instagram to see what others are posting about that location to get a feel for the vibe. Social media offers a 360-degree view of a company. Most of the time, our clients won’t say, “I saw you on Facebook” or “I found you on Instagram.” It’s not how they communicate. But it does influence their buying decisions—massively. According to Forbes, 81% of consumers’ purchasing decisions are influenced by their friends’ social media posts. Sixty-six percent of consumers have been inspired to purchase from a brand after seeing user-generated social media images. And 71% are more likely to make purchases based on social media referrals. Here’s how it works. People first become aware of you. Maybe they see your vet tag you, or they notice a collaboration. Then they find you when they need your service—say, a dog walker or pet sitter. When they Google, they recognize your name: “Oh, I’ve seen them everywhere.” That familiarity bui

Episode 283: How To Tell If Your Social Media Manager Is Worth Their Pay

Have you ever hired (or have been thinking about hiring) someone to manage your social media? Do you know what you should be looking for? Are you worried you won't get your money's worth out of the job? Today, there are many types of jobs and tasks you can have your assistants accomplish for you. When it comes to your social media manager, however, they need to be implementing a job that goes past just button-pushing. This week I dive into everything you should be looking for when it comes to someone managing your social media and why you should take feelings out of it and just look at the facts. Biggest Takeaways: A social media manager can be a huge expense for a business, so it is not crazy to think you should expect a huge return out of having one. This results in a big difference between an assistant who can schedule your content and post to your pages versus someone who is creating, engaging, connecting, and building up your brand. This week I want to make sure you know what you should be looking for when it comes to a social media manager and how to be sure they are worth your time and money. Recommendations: Check out Better Marketing With Bella and get an idea of what it is like to have all your content needs created for you. When marketing is done right you get to focus on the "why" of your business while we focus on the "what" to show it off. Welcome to another episode of Bella in Your Business. My name is Bella Vasta, your host and coach. And today we’re going to be talking about ways to know if your social media manager is worth the pay. Yeah, we’re going to go deep into it. I’m going to give you a couple of metrics that you can really use to decide whether or not they are actually worth it. But first, before we get into that, I want to give you a couple of quick updates about what’s going on in my world. Perhaps you follow me on Instagram at @BellaVasta, or perhaps you’re on our weekly Friday emails. You might know some of this, but I just finished two incredible intensives in Dallas, Texas. It was a lot of fun. I rented an Airbnb, my clients came to me, and we workshopped all day for eight hours. It’s so interesting because so many of you struggle with the same topics, but the way in which we solve them is drastically different because each one of you has different needs, dreams, visions, lifestyles, and reasons why you do what you do. I’m really careful every single time about getting my clients to go deep and figure out what they truly want. Next week, we’re welcoming our first intensive here in Arizona. I have a business owner flying in from the East Coast—it’s beautiful here, 70 to 80 degrees, not a cloud in the sky. We’re going to do an all-day intensive, and of course, she’s making it a business expense and taking a day for herself. I even encouraged her to take a drive up to magical, beautiful Sedona. If that sounds like someth

Episode 282: How To Be A Good Business Leader And Juggle Parenting Duties: Spring Break Edition

Balancing parent life while running a business is super easy.... said no one ever!! In reality, if you are a parent, you know how HARD it really is and all the struggles you have to go through to make it work. The mom/dad guilt of not spending enough time or attention on your child is apparent when you are giving your business the focus it needs. But the stress of your work to-do list can weigh you down when you are away from your business too. So how do you find that balance? This week I am rocking the podcast during my daughter's spring break to bring you all my tips on achieving running your business while parenting. Biggest Takeaways: Running your business is your full-time job, but so are your children. Finding a balance that gives both aspects your full attention is what we, as parents, seek the most. But saying you want that balance seems easier than actually achieving it. Take some of my tips and help find that balance you are looking for: Schedule. Schedule time each week that is set aside just for your family. Maybe after work, you put your phone away and give your kid your undivided attention to play and spend that time together. Say no. I know, crazy right? But say no to some things! If you do not want to have meetings or calls on certain days, say no, and schedule for a day when you are available. Better yet, have it kicked over to one of your assistants and have them schedule it on a day that works best for you. Turn off. When you have the time for your child, turn business off. This ensures they know they have 100% of your attention. Guys, we only get 18 summers with them, we need to make sure they know how important that time together is. I have a few more really helpful tips to get you to the work-life balance you are needing in your life right now. Parent to parent, this stuff really works. Recommendations: If less time working in the business is what you are looking for, join the Mastermind group so I can assist you and your business achieve your biggest goals. Welcome to another episode of Bella in Your Business. My name is Bella Vasta. Today it is Spring Break week and, as such, we are going to dive right into it. We’re going to talk all about how you balance being a parent and also being a badass business owner. How do we do both of them? I know that there’s a lot of you who listen to this podcast with your kids in the car—shout out to some of you like Randa who have told me that before. I love knowing that it’s a family deal, and so I definitely try to keep it kid friendly. But today, we love those little kids, right? I have Olivia home with me. For those of you just joining us, Olivia is my almost eight-year-old, special needs. She’s on the spectrum. She was born at twelve ounces almost eight years ago, and she is a joy and a delight. If any of you follow me on Instagram, I’m sure you’ve seen her. In fact, I have a whole highlight reel of her. She is just the happiest, most exciting kid ever. And she has a lot of energy—I don’t know where she gets it from! If any of you are battling trying to be a mom or dad—whether you’re a new parent or have been at it for a while—you know it’s a hard balance. You constantly feel that guilt that you’re not

Welcome to another episode of Bella in Your Business. My name is Bella Vasta, and today we’re going to talk about something I’ve actually never talked about before. However, I’ve been percolating on this topic because the more I do these complimentary 20-minute consultations with you guys, the more I hear this come up. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, I offer a free 20-minute “What problem do you want to solve?” consultation, which you can book at jumpconsulting.net. One of the recurring themes I’ve been hearing is this: are you in a toxic relationship with your business? Now, stay with me here. “Toxic” is a strong word, but it’s important to think about. In the past few years, people have become more aware—more conscious—of what’s happening in their lives, relationships, and environments. So today, I want to talk about the relationship you have with your business. I see a lot of business owners who might be in a toxic relationship with their own business. I encourage you to open your mind today and think about this with me: could this be you? Could this describe your company? Because I’m hearing a lot of red flags that sound a lot like toxic traits. Are there certain clients who are always nitpicking for no reason—making mountains out of molehills? Maybe they complain that you arrived at 7:32 instead of 7:30 and act like it’s the end of the world. Or maybe you have an employee who’s holding you hostage—someone who’s a know-it-all, never follows rules, or constantly tests boundaries. You’ve corrected them multiple times, but you’re afraid to let them go. Every time you get a text, email, or call from them, your body tenses up because you’re thinking, “What is it now?” What abou

Episode 280: 8 Considerations To Make Your Website A Selling Machine

What do you think pet parents want to see when they go to your website? Do they want to feel like they are being sold? Talked at? Or trying to figure out how they might fit INTO your company? Do you think they might feel overwhelmed, not knowing if you are the right fit for skill or money? All of these are probably true and how you present yourself on your website will make or break your bounce rate. (Bounce rate: How long someone stays on your site until the "bounce" off going to look elsewhere to solve their problem) Recently I got a DM from someone who was going to be updating their website asking, "So what's important on a website these days??" Truth is, there is a lot to consider. Unfortunately, most business owners are so close to their business, it is often hard to get the 30K view and put themselves in their potential client's shoes... Biggest Takeaways If your website is the first thing potential clients are seeing about you, then you need to draw them in. You need to make them say, "Yes, I want to work with them!" I started off doing this as a 7 point podcast but by the time I got to the end, it turned into 8. I was on a roll. Make it about THEM not about you. Keep it simple like a 1st grader is reading your website. Pay attention to the navigation. Don't make them think ...and there are a lot more. Listen to learn more! Recommendations: I highly recommend Erika and her team at Barketing Blog for a website. I have been recommending her for years and she has done countless client websites. They are very happy. You can't go wrong. Great price too! Need a group of knowledgeable people to bounce your website copy of design off of? Heck! You want three months of training dedicated to this topic? Join us in the best community in the pet industry, the Jump Mastermind! Want to make sure that once your website is popping, your social media also gives the same feel for your brand? Welcome everybody to another episode of Bella in Your Business. My name is Bella Vasta, your host. As we are coming to a conclusion of the theme we’ve been talking about, which is sales, I got something in my inbox just yesterday that inspired this podcast. I thought, all right, let’s go. The question was, what’s important to have on my website these days? This person was about to redo their website, and of course, I sent them on over to my girl Erica. If you go to jumpconsulting.net/marketing, you’ll find this amazing designer who helps so many pet sitting and dog walking clients of mine. She’s been doing it for years—since 2017, maybe—and she’s fantastic. She’ll take really great care of you. But it got me thinking about your website. As you know, I see a lot of websites from all around the world. I always try to cyber-stalk you guys a little bit before we get on the phone to see what you’re up to. And I’m more often than not disappointed that your website looks like everybody else’s. But you’re not like everybody else. You tell me you’re the best—you go above and beyond, you love pets like they’re your own, you’re professional, and you really care. But your website doesn’t show any of this. So today, we’re going to dive into seven important things to make your website better. I’ll make it quick and easy because I know you like list

Episode 279: One Thing That Is Preventing Thousands Of Dollars Of Sales

What if I told you I knew what was preventing people from thousands of dollars in sales for their business, and what you can do about it? This week I had the chance to reconnect with some old friends who I haven't seen in close to a decade! It had felt like I stepped into a time machine and no time had passed at all. A gal that was there said she owned a house cleaning business and did petting sitting as well. Knowing I am a business coach she wanted to ask a little advice from me. Now, typically I don't get into this with friends but I just couldn't help myself this night! We started chatting, the energy was flowing, the conversation was amazing, and it inspired me for the topic of this week's podcast. Each week I receive wonderful messages from loyal listeners letting me know that they really are landing thousands of dollars in sales! What are they doing that is setting them apart from those who aren't succeeding? If it was something that anyone could do, would you be willing to give it a try? In this week's episode, I break it down and examine what is the one thing that is preventing you from landing sales and what you can do over and over again to achieve this type of success. In any case, get ready because you’re about to get your hashtag Bella Butt Kickin’ in this next episode of Bella in Your Business. So what do you say? Let’s get ready and jump! Welcome everybody to a new episode of Bella in Your Business. My name is Bella Vasta from Jump Consulting, and today we’re going to talk about this one thing that’s preventing you from thousands of dollars in sales. It became really apparent to me as I was having a conversation this weekend. You see, I ended up in what I call the time machine on my Instagram. If you follow me there, you know I got together with a whole bunch of people that I haven’t seen for eight to ten years. We used to run a nonprofit charity here locally in Scottsdale, Arizona, back in the day. We were all business owners—before marriage, kids, divorces, and all that stuff. We were just twenty-something entrepreneurs with the same tenacity for life. It happened to be one of the gal’s 40th birthdays, and she came in from Colorado. A whole bunch of us saw each other again, and it was actually quite emotional for me. Her parents live in one of the communities where I had a lot of presence with my pet sitting company—one of the gated communities of the gated communities. The last time I had been there, I was actually “Bella the Pet Sitter,” so this was a long time ago. We were hanging out on the patio, listening to music, and catching up. One of the gals there said she owned a house cleaning company and also did pet sitting. She knew I was a business coach and started asking for advice, which I don’t usually do with friends, but I couldn’t help myself that night. If any of you know me, you know that kind of thing lights me up. The whole time, her husband was sitting there too, edging her on. She said, “I charge $90 an hour for house cleaning, and I’m the best house cleaner ever. I’ll scrub those toilets with a toothbrush.” I said, “That’s great. Do you have anyone working for you?” She said no—it’s just her, and she only works two or three days a week. I told her, “That’s good, but that’s also a ceiling. What are your dreams, your goals, your aspirations?” She said she and her husband didn’t want kids. They wanted to travel, buy the toys—the RVs, razors, all that stuff. So I asked, “How are we going to do this? Maybe you could retire your husband.” She said, “Well, my husband has his own business too.” I asked, “Oh, what do you do?” and she said, “He started a business that sells powder for your balls.” Yes, you heard that right. It was a hilarious and fasc

Episode 278: #1 Way to Increase Your Sales That Everyone Can Do

I've heard from many of you... I don't like answering the phone. I don't like being put on the spot. I don't like selling. I don't like talking about price. All of this is stinkin' thinking that is severely limiting your ability to grow your business. People literally make the decision to call and speak to a company. They put their environment on mute so they can ring you and potentially speak to you. If they are doing this, they have most likely already checked you out. They have seen your website, your social... and now, they just need a bit of reassurance. They are calling you for this reassurance and you are giving them a L for LOSING instead of a W for WINNING by not answering. This is the equivalent of walking into a store and needing help and having no associates to speak to. Or walking up to one to ask them a question and them just walking away from you. Not only is it rude, but it is frusterating. Then, you are expected to check yourself out. Can you imagine if that wasn't Walmart and it was Nordstroms? The horror. I know the idea of phone calls seems so ancient. We mostly communicate through email, text, and social media messaging. But what if I told you that the old-fashioned telephone has even more persuasion and would land you more new clients? Would you be willing to answer it more often? If you are a business that has your phone number listed on google and on your website, then you need to be answering the phones. But many of you are not. Why? This week I went on a mission to find out what is going on out there and made 10 phone calls to 10 different companies in the Phoenix and Dallas area. The results were astounding. Biggest Takeaways As business owners, we are concerned with marketing, advertising and finding ways we can build up our client roster and in turn, create more sales. We know how important client relationships are, but we are forgetting to connect with potential clients. That connection begins with.. wait for it.. a phone call! If you answer the phone, you will land more sales. Especially because your competition isn't doing it Show Highlights Making a connection [1:24] Answer the phone [3:27] Save the sale [7:45] Links Mastermind Better Marketing with Bella Bella Vasta Instagram Let's Connect Did you enjoy the show? Welcome to another episode of Bella in Your Business. My name is Bella Vasta, and today we’re continuing on the theme that we’ve been doing for two months, which is all about sales. This time, it’s a little bit shocking because as I was preparing for this podcast and creating the notes for it, I actually had to take a different turn because what I thought was going to happen didn’t actually happen. What that was, was calling you guys. Yes, I picked up the old-fashioned telephone and called you. What a concept! We’re talking sales, and I cannot stress enough that putting your phone to go directly to voicemail is not doing you any justice. If you don’t want the phone, then don’t put it on your Google listing and don’t put it on the front page of your website. But if your phone number is there, you need to answer your phone. Here’s the thing—I know, I know, and I hear all the excuses you guys are saying. “But Bella, I get too many robocalls.” “But Bella, people are just price shopping.” “But Bella, I’m busy.” “But Bella, everything they need is on my website.” That’s great, but that’s not why they’re calling. They might say that, but they’re calling to make a connection with you. And if you’re not offering the opportunity to make a connection with you, then you better be doing it on your social media via videos—like I’m actually doing right now as I’m

I think it was actually record-breaking. You know you’ve made it when people have very loud opinions about you and do not let up. Be quiet, Karen. Anyways, that episode was really interesting in the way that I got a ton of feedback. So I just wanted to shout you guys out. Someone said, “Well, that podcast certainly grabbed the bull by its horns. I’m glad you actually did it. My motto has always been: go to the source to find out what’s going on. So I did. You turned lemons into lemonade. Well done.” This was actually from one of my long-term clients who brought one of the most recent outcries—if you want to call it that—to my attention. That was awesome. Episode 276: How I Am Dealing With A 7+ Year Troll… And What You Can Learn From It

Personal Podcast Today Lately, I have been getting questions about how to deal with Trolls. You know, those people that get upset at you and start trying to rip apart your character or credibility online? Maybe it is a person that you didn't hire, had to fire, or a client that just went sideways and you parted ways. But it turned them into angry monsters with many heads. Sure, you have heard of the typical ways to handle bad reviews. I've even written about it on my blog. But what happens when they are persistent? What happens when they don't go away or they try to disparage you on all platforms? This recently happened to one of my clients and she was perplexed on how to deal with it. We spoke in depth about it and it was then I decided to blow the lid off something that has been popping up on my own feed for at least seven years. I deal with this too... you just may not (or may?) know about it. I've had someone take something that I said on stage seven years ago and blow it out of context in multiple public forms for years. I've had another person who has a vendetta out for me that takes any chance she gets to say terrible things. (Funny, she has never been a client, but I have coached two of her direct competition to multi six figures and another to almost a million....so there is that.) I've even had another (what could have been) sticky situation that resulted in some crappy things being said online. In this podcast today, I tell you it all. No hold bars. I get real, honest, and vulnerable with you. It is my hope that sharing my story allows you to see that it happens to everyone and that despite their efforts, your business can still grow to multi six or even seven figures =) Links: 20min Consultation with Bella Handbook and Manual Let's Connect Did you enjoy the show? The following episode that you’re about to hear is one that I honestly took a minute to think about if I really wanted to post it. I was totally prepared to delete it and re-record something else, which would have been the first time in the 276 episodes that I have done. But one thing I decided is that, one, I’m definitely going to keep it after I did pull a lot of my audience and they really did want to hear some more behind the scenes. But second, something that I did not touch upon that I want to make really clear is I want to encourage you to do your own research and have your own thought process in life. I think sometimes it’s really easy in our overwhelm to just take other people’s words or opinions. But I encourage you to think about whose opinion you are taking. Are they living the life? Are they living the business life? Are they the kind of person that you want to take advice from? Or is it just some random person who you know nothing about online giving you advice? Let that be your prelude to this week’s episode. Thanks for listening. Boy, I did some deep breathing before I’m recording this. Welcome to another episode of Bella in Your Business. My name is Bella and today I’m going to be taking this a little bit of a different direction. While we are still going to talk about sales, we’re going to talk about sales and how it applies to trolls. Because I know that a lot of you guys are getting trolls of your own. I actually saw it in a recent Facebook thread and they were asking for help and how they might go about it. So today we’re going to talk about that. Before I actually get into when you get trolls, I’m actually going to blow the lid off of something I’ve been keeping quiet for seven years. Seven years! I’ve had one particular troll—two, actually—for seven years. They are no longer in the Jump ecosystem, of course.

Episode 275: 3 Disruptive Ways To Respond To Inquiries To Get Results

Think about it from their shoes... when you go out looking for a service and the first person you contact responds with "Thanks for your inquiry. We will get back to you within 24 - 48hrs", do you just sit back and wait? Or do you keep looking for other options because you have a problem that needs to be solved and now is the time you have to solve it? Chances are you keep looking, right? Don't be the business that takes their time and does not show they want to solve your problems. Right now is the time to step up and actually be the solution and in this week's Podcast, I am going to show you 3 different ways you can solve a client's problem, show you care, and maybe even upsell them as fast as possible! You are going to want to listen in on this one. Biggest Takeaways As the market becomes more and more volatile, it becomes more and more important to really step out there and know how to respond to prospects and lockdown leads. There is a common thing most of us do with how we allow people to contact us for services and I will tell you it can be utilized and used correctly... if you know how. Respond to Inquiries How do you respond to inquiries? Do you only use email? What if I told you this can be wasting time? The amount of time you spend just responding to their first question might just be what gets them to stay or not. using the different forms of contact available can create an opportunity to assist them right as they need you to. Not the next day when they are busy at work and already spoke to X amount of people... am I right? Personal Connection Once they are responding back to you, building a personal connection is vital! This does not only help you truly solve their problem but it will create trust in you and your business to provide the best services you can without having to "sell yourself". Contact them in a way that shows you did stop to think about what they need and how you can help, making it about them and their pet instead of about you and your business. Are you prepared? 2022 may have a lot in store for your pet business. But... do you know how to approach it so it goes in your favor? There is going to be some turbulence along the way but with the right support and by taking the right steps you can make 2022 work in your favor. It is so important to learn how to sell right now so you can overcome any stepping stones that come your way. I am going to be there to tell you how to do it and most importantly WHY. The why in the whole thing has such a large play and today we are going to talk about it. Biggest Takeaways Become the solution and learn how to establish and define your business. As the economy changes and becomes more and more volatile people start to have more problems. What they need right now is for you to solve them and show them the value you can provide during these hard times. How Are You Preparing Your Business If you have been staying up to date on my Podcast I am sure you are aware of how much the market is changing right now.... but does your office manager know? What about your social media manager? Do you have plans in place for how your business is going to stay on top of the economy? Now is the time to prepare your business for these changes. Be The Solution Start asking yourself the right questions. How does your sales process make people feel? Are they supported and cared for? Do you solve their problems and offer solutions? In this week's podcast, I am going to show you how to break out of some of these bad habits and come out on top of your business as the problem solver you want to be. Biggest Takeaways Where do you stand as the business world continues to change? Are you moving with the changes and sitting back and blending in? Over the next few months, I am going to teach you how to stay with the times and continue to push your revenue to the levels you dream of. It Is Time To Become A Problem Solving Consultant I know most of you would say no if I asked you if you are ready to start consulting but I know most of you are ready to start increasing your profits. I am going to teach you how to start being a consultant instead of selling. The climate is changing and you need to know how to maintain and increase your revenue. Problem Solver VS Order Taker Have you slipped down the path to being an order taker? Identifying where you and even your employees stand in the business as an order taker or a problem solver can drastically help you. The first step is learning where you stand in the sales process. Welcome back to another episode of Bella in Your Business. It’s the second week in January, and I'm back here today to talk about—are you an order taker? It's one thing that's preventing you from thousands of dollars in sales. It became really apparent to me as I was actually having a conversation this weekend. You see, I ended up in what I call the time machine on my Instagram, if you follow me there. I got together with a whole bunch of people that I have not seen for eight to ten years. We used to run a nonprofit charity here locally in Scottsdale, Arizona, back in the day. We were all business owners, and it was before marriage and kids and divorces and all that stuff. We were just, you know, twenty-something entrepreneurs and we would dock up together and we just had the same tenacity for life, you know. It happened to be one of the gal’s 40th birthdays and she came in from Colorado, and a whole bunch of us saw each other. It was actually quite emotional for me. Her parents actually live in one of the communities where I had a lot of presence with my pet sitting company. We were actually in one of the gated communities of the gated communities. Yes, you heard that right. And the last time I had been in there, I was actually Bella the pet sitter. So this is a long time ago. But you know, we got to talking and we were kind of like hanging out on the patio and just listening to music and catching up. And one of the gals there said that she actually owned a house cleaning company and that she also was doing pet si

Welcome everybody to a new episode of Bella in Your Business. Happy New Year! It is the first week of January 2022, whether you're listening to this now or in the future—hello! It is a new year. And as it becomes a new year, you know the past two weeks, typically at least in the United States, we all kind of kick it into lower gear where we focus on the busy holiday season and the holiday rush. If you’re a pet sitter or a dog walker, you kind of kick it into a little bit slower gear. A lot of people tend to stay home, they don't have services, and we just reset. We do a little reset. So I am actually recording this on Monday, January 3rd, 2022, as I have just come back to the office after about two weeks of being gone. I've been seeing something on Facebook lately that I wanted to address. And quite honestly, I was first going to have this as a blog, but then I decided that it might just be better if I spoke it to you, so I'm gonna kind of talk it out a little bit. There is this thing that, you know, on Facebook sometimes where someone will write something and then it's like a copy and paste and at the end it's like, “I copied this from a friend but I liked it so I pasted it.” Feel free to my website. Episode 271: Lessons and Behind the Scenes of 5 Coaching Calls

Think about a time when you had a problem and you wanted to reach out for advice and then you thought... "Who would I even ask? How do I even find somebody to ask?" The business world can feel so lonely it's hard to know where to go when you are stuck. This is why I spend so much of my time fostering communities for you all. Today I am going to go over various lessons and success stories of some of my wonderful clients so you can start off 2022 on a great note. Biggest Takeaways Opening yourself up to new communities and people on the struggles of your business can be daunting and discouraging. But it is only after you take this step can you allow for a different perspective or ideas that can propel you into the dream business you imagined when you started your business. Talking with like-minded business owners, business coaches & finding the right processes has been key to all of my client's amazing successes and can be the key to yours too. Listen in to the lessons and behind the scenes of 5 coaching calls. Showing Faith in Feedback It's very hard to allow someone into the details of your business, and even harder to then have them specifically looking for things that could be improved and pointing them out to you. While this makes anyone uncomfortable, it's important to be willing to have faith in what your support community is telling you, knowing they have your best interests at heart. A supportive community is only as useful as you are willing to let them be, step out of your comfort zone and expand the possibilities to so many lessons that can be learned. Where is Your Vision for the Future? The business world is evolving faster than ever, many businesses fall prey to this evolution for one simple reason, they lack a vision and plan for their business. You should be regularly asking yourself if you are doing enough for your staff. Are they happy with you as an Employer? What lessons can be learned? You should also know where you see your business going. In what way do you want to expand your business? The end of the year can be a great time to reflect on the past year and set some solid measurable goals for 2022. I've been on a kick on sales lately. Last week's episode was fire. I got so many messages from you guys and I just really appreciate it because every time I come to you in my office by myself with my microphone, I always say, let me know what you think. And Cathy Perez, girl, you rock. She actually created an entire graphic, because we talked about her last time, and posted it on her Instagram to show everyone that she was featured. That was really cool, Cathy. I love it. And Becky also reached out—she loved being mentioned. So I hear you guys. I see you. But when greatness is happening, I am definitely going to shout you from the rooftops, because I just feel like a proud mama bear. And as a mother, I can absolutely say that. So today, in the same light of being a mother bear here, I really want to talk about something that I've seen happen online in the almost 20 years that I've been doing this—and that is people being offended. I need you to stop getting so offended because I'm sick and tired of it, and it's not helping you, which is why I get really mama bear mode about this. You getting offended does nothing. It doesn't help you. It doesn’t help you at all. In fact, it gets you in a negative mindset. It gets you in a losing mindset. It

In any case, get ready because you're about to get your hashtag Bella Butt Kickin' in this next episode of Bella in Your Business. So what do you say? Let's get ready and jump. Welcome everybody. Today, this podcast is dropping to you a day early on Wednesday because guess what? Tomorrow here in the United States is Thanksgiving. Chatting it up with a lot of you this week, whether you are returning clients to Better Marketing with Bella as our doors are open or brand-new people that have been on our wait list and just kind of explaining to you how the program goes for those of you who have not been in the program, something’s been coming up that I thought I would address on the podcast today. This is going to actually help quite a few of you, whether you're at this point or not. This is something that, number one, I know no one else in the industry is talking about. I also know that this is something that could valuably help your mindset and set you up for success if and when you decide to go down this path. This is something that a lot of us always want to do. It has to deal with replicating ourselves, making mini-mes of ourselves and knowing that we could pass things off and things are taken care of. But this particular topic today is all about how to train a team member, an office manager, a social media manager, a marketing manager, whoever you want to think of for that role, on how to do Facebook and Instagram effectively. Because if you, my friend, want to be a good leader and you want to be successful in having someone “take over” your social media—which is what I hear a lot of people say—then you best bet your bottom dollar that you know what you're talking about. You need to know how to have an educated conversation about it, how to lead, guide, and train them on how to do it—unless you're paying someone a couple thousand dollars a month to do it, which I highly doubt you are. And you must also be able to evaluate their work and give them feedback. So let's get started because it's not just as easy as handing it over to someone. The common mistakes I see a lot of people make is they just hand it over and someone posts a couple of pictures and they're like, “Hey, look mom, look what I made.” And that’s nice, kid, but it’s not professional. It’s not getting you anything. There’s no strategy behind it, let alone a system. And there sure as heck aren’t any metrics behind it.

What if I told you it doesn't have to be this way. What if there was a way to handle all of this and still make time for you? Welcome everybody to another episode of Bella in Your Business. I’m your host, Bella Vasta, and today we’re going to talk about how to make time for you as a busy pet business owner during the holidays. We all know that when the holidays come around, it gets absolutely insane, especially if you’re in the pet industry. Clients are traveling, you’re working long hours, you’ve got staff to manage, and somehow you’re also supposed to enjoy the holidays with your family and friends. But how do you actually do that? How do you not lose yourself in all the chaos? I’m going to give you some real talk today and some practical ways you can create space for yourself without letting your business fall apart or disappointing your clients. The first thing we need to recognize is that your time is your most valuable asset. If you don’t protect it, no one else will. When you’re constantly saying yes to every single client request, every pet visit, or every last-minute booking, you’re actually saying no to yourself, your family, and your mental health. So, step one: boundaries. I know, I know—you’ve heard it before. But I’m not just talking about saying no. I’m talking about designing your business and schedule in a way that automatically enforces boundaries for you. For example, make sure your booking software has cut-off times for new reservations. Set your communication expectations clearly—something like “We respond to all messages within 24 hours, Monday through Friday.” When people know what to expect, they respect your time more. Step two: delegate like your sanity depends on it—because it does. You can’t do it all, especially during the holidays. If you have staff, empower them. Let them handle the day-to-day so you can focus on high-level tasks or simply rest. If you don’t have staff yet, consider hiring temporary help or outsourcing some of your personal tasks. Grocery delivery, dog walking for your own pets, or even a cleaning service can free up valuable hours and mental space. Step three: schedule your personal time as if it were an appointment with your most important client—because it is. Put it on your calendar. Don’t say “I’l

Episode 266: The Magic Problem Solver: Subjective vs Objective Reality

Do you feel stuck between a rock and a hard place when it comes to setting your prices? What if I were to tell you this is only because of your thinking? Having the proper view of your thinking process can make difficult decisions like price increases a breeze. In this podcast, I'm going to tell you the secret to identifying your way of thinking and how you can have power over it. If you are a subjective thinker you will learn how to become an objective thinker. Biggest Takeaways One of the biggest things I see affecting growing business owners is their thinking and the reality they live in day to day. Objective thinking and subjective thinking can be all the difference between your business's success, and potential failure. Identifying Your Thinking Subjective thinking is very common when doing something as stressful as running your own business. Knowing the differences between subjective thinking and objective thinking can help you identify when you are thinking subjectively. Your Objective Reality To have an objective reality you must be able to identify how you are thinking and open your mind to the possibilities. This will begin to lay the building blocks for creating the objective reality you seek. In any case, you're about to get your hashtag Bella Butt Kickin' in this next episode of Bella in Your Business. So what do you say? Let's get ready and jump. Welcome back to another episode of Bella in Your Business. My name is Bella Vasta and today we're going to talk about the biggest mistakes that you're making on social media. I see some people right now that they think that they're doing social media, but they're not really doing it at all. They're making some of the biggest mistakes, the rookie mistakes, some people would call them. And I want to make sure that none of you, my loyal, amazing jumper listeners, are ever going to make these mistakes or have this mindset about social media. If this is the first time we are meeting, I have been honored to grace a lot of different stages helping people build their businesses, whether they are working for big corporations or they have their own businesses just like you. And I have been building my business online and teaching Facebook since Facebook came out. I take pride in that and while I might not have the largest amount of followers, it's not a popularity contest. It is about finding your exact niche and your exact kind of people and speaking directly to them. It's about following your analytics and seeing what resonates with your audience and what does not and doubling down and getting away from the other stuff. So in true Bella fashion, I'm gonna give you as much value as I can in this podcast. That is my promise to you. You are busy and do not have time to hear everything going sideways or long stories. So we're going to keep this short, quick, and dirty. The very first thing that I want to tell you about that I see as a mistake on social media is you're not being real enough. It is so important to be yourself online. And by that, I don't mean tell me every time you go to the bathroom or what you had for breakfast. I don't care. But what I mean is that you have to show up as part of yourself. I want you to remember that social media is a way that people can stalk you online. Yep, that's what they do. If you are of the mindset to say, “Well, I never get clients off of social media.” Well, yeah, most likely you're not going to unless you're a baller and you show up and you are constantly building and engaging your community. A lot of people aren't using social

I want to see if any of you guys are making these mistakes and I want to tell you why they're mistakes and get you to think about changing them. The biggest mistakes you're making on social media is not being real enough. One of the first ones is not being real enough. You're being very corporate or just very talk-at, or very generic. Anyone can say the messages like “We love them like our own” or “We love them like family” and just post bland content. There's no personality behind it. The reason why people are hiring you instead of Rover or Wag, or hiring you instead of your competition, is because they get to know you online. Don't kid yourself—everyone is cyberstalking you. They are looking up your website, your social media. They might even be looking up your own personal name to see what's on your socials if they can see that. You’ve got to be r

Being top of his class in school he moved to the top of the workforce in sales and marketing. After spending his life studying sales Aaron Miller has learned when it comes to something you are passionate about it is more consulting than sales. This technique has enabled him to lose the anxiety with sales and gain the confidence he needed. Today, he is going to tell you how you can be confident too and encourage you to look at the sales process from a new perspective. It looks and sounds scary but when it comes to something you are passionate about you are here to help people and show them you can solve their pet problems. Biggest Takeaways You Don’t Want To Miss: Consult and Discover The term "Sales" can create stress all on its own. We have to realize it is not sales that we provide as a service we are only consulting to provide a pet sitting or dog walking service. Talk to your prospect, listen to them and what they need, and provide them with services that can solve their problem. Discover what they need and how you can help, this will lead to closing sales more effectively. Know Where You Are in the Closing Process The sales process and closing process are different however they intertwine like a dance. sometimes you take 2 steps forward and one step back. It is all about listening and feeling where the prospect is at. The process can be step by step, but many times it is a dance you need to learn how to follow with your prospect if you wish to close the sale. Be Confident in Offering Your Passion Typically we started our business because we are passionate about pets and you need to use this to be confident. Bella in Your Business. And today we are going to talk about something called the art of saying no. I was looking for some podcast ideas and I went to our mastermind group and I asked them. And one thing that really gained a lot of popularity was how to say no in a variety of different areas. And so today I'm going to talk about that. But before we actually dive into that, I want you to think about someone in your life who you might ask to do something and you know they say yes but you kind of look at them sideways and you're like, I really know you don't want to do this and you're doing this for me, and then it kind of makes you feel bad. And underneath that, it actually is that you can't trust them because you can't trust their yes or their no with a period on at the end. One of you listeners right now might be that person that you say yes a lot more times when you really feel like you should have said no. And what happens is when you say yes instead of no, you start getting resentful of either the person, the task, or sometimes even yourself. And that just shows yourself that you have a lack of boundaries, a lack of ability to stand up for you. And while I'm not a therapist, I have done enough self-discovery to know that there are many different reasons why we do this as people running around society—whether it's a lack

Welcome back to another episode of Bella in Your Business. My name is Bella Vasta, and today we're going to talk about the biggest mistakes that you're making on social media. I see some people right now who think they’re doing social media, but they're not really doing it at all. They're making some of the biggest rookie mistakes, and I want to make sure that none of you—my loyal, amazing jumper listeners—are ever going to make these mistakes or have this mindset about social media. If this is the first time we’re meeting, I have been honored to grace a lot of different stages helping people build their businesses—whether they are working for big corporations or have their own businesses just like you. I’ve been building my business online and teaching Facebook since Facebook came out. I take pride in that, and while I might not have the largest number of followers, it’s not a popularity contest. It’s about finding your exact niche and speaking directly to your people. It’s about following your analytics, seeing what resonates with your audience and what doesn’t, doubling down on what works, and letting go of the rest. So, in true Bella fashion, I’m going to give you as much value as I can in this podcast. You’re busy and don’t have time to hear long stories, so we’re keeping this short, quick, and dirty. The first mistake I see on social media is that you’re not being real enough. It’s so important to be yourself online. And by that, I don’t mean tell me every time you go to the bathroom or what you had for breakfast—I don’t care. But you have to show up as yourself. Social media is where people stalk you online. That’s what they do. If you’re of the mindset that “I never get clients off of social media,” well, yeah, most likely you’re not going to—unless you’re showing up, building, and engaging your community. That takes dedication, strategy, and intent. A lot of my jumpers use social media not as a sales tool but as an awareness tool—like another page where people can learn about them. It’s where people get to know you before trusting you with their house key or their pet. So when people visit your page, they’d better see you. Not just pets, not stock photos—you. I want to

Welcome back to another episode of Bella in Your Business. I just want to say a sincere thank you. Last week we hit a record—there were almost a thousand downloads last week! And I don’t know if it’s because I did “S H asterisk T” in the title or what, or if y’all were just really on fire, but I just love it. Keep sharing the podcast, keep giving people tips and tricks. It really is the only podcast in the industry that’s going to break down tactically how to do things. I really want to leave you with value. So the biggest honor that I can get is seeing that you guys are loving it so much that everyone’s downloading it. So thank you, thank you, thank you. Today I want to talk about the biggest mistakes you’re making in your social media. And at the end, I’m actually going to bring on a very special guest that I think a lot of you are going to like if my Instagram analytics are any indication. But we were chatting today, and I’ll tell you more about that in a little bit. I want to do this quick and dirty again. I want to see if any of you guys are making these mistakes, and I want to tell you why they’re mistakes and get you to think about changing them. The biggest mistake you’re making on social media is not being real enough. One of the first ones is not being real enough. You’re being very corporate, very “talk-at,” or just generic. Anyone can say the message “We love them like our own” or “We love them like family,” and just post bland content. There’s no personality behind it. The reason why people are hiring you instead of Rover or Wag or hiring you instead of your competition is because they get to know you online. Don’t kid yourself—everyone is cyberstalking you. They are looking up your website, your social media, and they might even be looking up your personal name to see what’s on your socials if they can find it. You’ve got to be real. People have to get to know you. They’re literally giving you a key or the code to their house and letting you inside the
