Ep 25Ep 24: You've Made Time, Now What?
In this morning's episode, I cover: What to expect for changes in your daily life and workout performance once you've started to be consistent. Tips on being a solid role model The differences between activity and exercise Everyone's ability and desire to change is different; we're all at different points in life. Some people's goal is to be able to get up from their recliner to go to the bathroom to stay out of the nursing home, and others have a goal of climbing the tallest mountain peaks. Change is scary...especially as we grow older. We become more resistant to change. Change is usually outside our comfort zone, where growth happens. Once we see the benefits of change, we look back and realize it wasn't all that bad. Ep 24Ep 23: Spinning Your Way Through Life With Dr. Drew Haley of Align Online Physical Therapy
The Brain’s Integration of Visual Cues for Spatial Awareness: Drew and I discuss how the brain processes and integrates visual information. For example, motion on a screen, to maintain spatial awareness and balance, the brain draws a comparison to the shaky camera effects seen in movies, to the area around the TV. With movies, the brain can distinguish between actual movement and just visual motion on the screen. If it couldn’t, we’d have major issues with action films like the Bourne Trilogy. Drew and I also cover the use of massage and muscle tension treatment for managing cervicogenic dizziness. Massage/trigger point release is a tool very often used in clinics; sometimes not the correct choice in the initial management of someone's symptoms. Drew highlights the importance of maintaining cervical stability and proprioceptive capabilities, and the need for a gradual reduction in muscle tone to avoid disorientation and worsening of symptoms. Check out Drew's webinar for free. If his webinar resonates with you, definitely schedule the discovery session to see if he can help you out. Ep 23Ep 22: "I Don't Have Time."
Time is something we never get back. Where are your priorities at? Do you need to find a different environment to be in? Who's counting on you to set a solid, positive example? I hear this phrase every day at work. No-one has time for things they don't see as a priority. Either your health is a performance enhancing priority and a luxury now; or, it is inhibiting and a priority of nuisance later. Ultimately, the choice is yours. Ep 21Ep 20: Training w/ Pain and Symptoms w/ Dr. Trevor Souik PT, DPT
Dr. Trevor and I sit down for a conversation about training with symptoms. We both have a passion for keeping folks healthy, and in the gym, which is vital for someone to progress through the stages of healing. Just like priming a lawnmower, sometimes we need a little warm-up to get ourselves going. Be mindful of numbers, while not getting caught up in numbers when it comes to your training and symptom onset is important. Every body is different and there are many contributing variables at play for someone's symptom experience. Workouts can be a balancing act when managing symptoms. Listen to your body and find that sweet spot where your symptoms don't increase, or increase 1-2 points on a 10 point scale, from baseline during or after your session. That's when you know you've hit the perfect amount of exercise for you! Wilderness Readiness Quiz Wilderness Fitness Institute

Ep 15Ep 14: Belly Breathing For Mountain Performance
Diaphragmatic breathing has a lot to do with someone's overall pain experience.
