S1 Ep 113Let's get real about Self Love: what it truly means & how to do it

WARNING: You will never look at self love the same after listening to this episode. Self love - it’s thrown around like a bit of a BUZZ word, but how do we actually do it? And what does it actually mean? If you don't already realise that this can be your super power, you're in for a hella episode! Today I debunk the spas, facials & 'self-care' activities often painted as the sweet picture of self love, and get to the core & essence of what it truly means. PLUS I will share with you how to adopt it as a perspective, a mindset, so it's not something you need to allocate time in your week to do, like a chore on your list. Reflective Qs to determine if you have self love Do I speak kindly to myself and treat myself with compassion and respect? Do I set boundaries and advocate for my own needs and desires? Do I take care of my physical, emotional, and mental well-being? Do I forgive myself for my mistakes and imperfections? Do I embrace my unique qualities and strengths? Do I allow myself to feel a full range of emotions, including happiness, sadness, anger, and joy? Do I have a positive relationship with my body and practice self-acceptance? Do I make time for self-care and prioritize my own well-being? Journal Prompts to assess your level of Self Love at the end of the day How did I speak to myself today? Was it kind and compassionate, or did I engage in self-criticism or negative self-talk? Did I set boundaries and advocate for my own needs and desires today? If not, what can I do differently tomorrow? How did I take care of my physical, emotional, and mental well-being today? What can I do to prioritize self-care tomorrow? What mistakes or imperfections did I forgive myself for today? How did this help me feel more loving towards myself? What unique qualities or strengths did I embrace today? How did this make me feel? How did I allow myself to feel and express a full range of emotions today? What emotions did I experience, and how did I cope with them? How did I feel about my body today? What self-care practices can I engage in to improve my relationship with my body? What self-care activities did I do today? How did they make me feel? (0:00) Podcast Introduction (00:51) What is Self Love? S1 Ep 112Michael Amster on micro-dosing mindfulness in 2023

If you find it hard to meditate, or make time for it, then you're going to ABSOLUTELY love this chat today. Today I am joined by Michael Amster, a physician and faculty member at the Touro School of Medicine. He has twenty years of experience as a pain management specialist, been a student of meditation for over thirty years and is a certified yoga teacher. Today we dive into a recent discovery, something that is going to change the way you look at mindfulness for 2023 and beyond. Michael is going to explain the power of the A.W.E method including the science that backs it up, the three levels of consciousness, and how to achieve powerful results for both our physical and mental health in under 1 minute a day. A.W.E's initiation At the height of the pandemic, two trial groups embarked on a study through UC Berkeley to test a new method for “micro-dosing mindfulness.” One group was comprised of frontline healthcare workers; the other consisted of patients at a local medical center, as well as any of their friends and family who wished to participate. Almost immediately, both groups reported significant improvement in symptoms of stress, anxiety, depression, and chronic pain—results that bore out over the course of the study and beyond. Jake Eagle, LPC and Michael Amster, MD, knew that they were on to something. BUT as we know, awareness is key and I never leave you hanging with just the items, but also tips on how to actually stop doing them and change your day to day behaviour to get the most out of your work & time. I would highly recommend selecting one habit at a time to work on, before adopting them all at once. S1 Ep 108The reason winners quit & how to know when you need to

It's your chance to have an impact on the podcast! We are currently taking feedback and input from every single one of you to help shape our vision and direction for 2023. If you have 5 minutes to fill out this quick survey, it would be INCREDIBLY appreciated + really helps us plan relevant and needed content. Click here to have your say! Today's episode: “If you quit on the process, you are quitting on the result” ... “Never Give Up” ... “Only Quitters Quit”.... There are so many sayings with the same basic idea, that quitting is a bad thing. This idea is instilled in us from the youngest age and even as we grow up, considered common place. To me however, winners do not quit or give up because the task is difficult or because they’re lazy, they quit because they are mature enough or self aware enough to acknowledge that something is no longer worth their time or energy. So today I'm going to reframe quitting to "letting go" and offer you some perspective shifts so you can finally let go of whatever is no longer serving you, that maybe you've been clinging on to out of fear of judgement. Today’s episode is inspired by a conversation I’ve had with one of you Balancers. Their painpoint? Dealing with the inevitable sacrifices that come with change. Having undertaken a LOT of change this year myself, sacrificing my identity, career trajectory, money and so on, are all things I have felt. Today I share my thoughts on what these sacrifices mean on our journey and path and how to deal with them PLUS a cool morning activity you can do every day (under 1 min) to keep your why/purpose front and centre. S1 Ep 98BTS Things everyone on their self growth journey needs to know

Lately I’ve been speaking with a lot of people who are either quite new on the self growth journey OR are constantly looking for ways to do better for themselves. I think it’s a really useful discussion to flag these things especially for those of you navigating this for the first time and really feeling quite alone. S1 Ep 96BTS If you thrive in busyness but feel guilty for it, this one's for you

This is the literal dilemma I had that prompted me to start this podcast... that is, thriving in busyness and loving being busy, but also feeling guilty for it. So I sat down and reframed what being busy meant, how it made me feel and how to ensure I didn't get swept up in the "busyness" to a point where I neglected my wellness, my wellbeing. And today, I take you exactly through the process I undertook to arrive in a place where I feel confident defending my time & forgetting feeling guilty for how I'm spending it. At times we need to go deeper in our health, or our work, and we don't need to feel guilty or let others make us feel guilty for it. So get ready to OWN it! Let's Balance together. S1 Ep 95BTS Why failing is an essential part of any journey

Today I share a replay of a very early episode that I have recently listened back to to help me reframe my feelings with failure. S1 Ep 90BTS Why you need to be able to identify good and bad expectations

If you're anything like me and feel like you're a bit of a perfectionist, then you're probably not foreign to the idea of having expectations on yourself across multiple areas of your life (especially work/career ones)! Today I want to chat about where these come from and explore when they can be good, and motivate us, but also when they can be bad and steer us away from what we genuinely want. I'll also dive deep into how to work out what success means to you so that you can make sure your expectations are aligned to what you value. S1 Ep 90Lisa Cox empowered & empowering through her disability

Did you know 1 in 5 Australians suffer from a disability? On this episode we chat with Lisa Cox — disability advocate, author, business consultant and media professional. Lisa aims to improve representation of the disabled community throughout mainstream pop culture by leading conversations about the important of representation and guiding business on how they can assist in inclusion. We talk about how disability is different to each person, how she finds balance with her disability by honouring her body and how important gratitude is. We also discuss the idea of ‘toxic positivity’ and how empowering disability can actually be if you allow it. You can find out more about Lisa over on her website or Instagram. S1 Ep 89BTS How to know if your circle is blocking your authentic self

Today I want to use this BTS to dive into the relationship category of balance, which is not one I’ve jumped into much on a solo episode before. When we have ties or relationships that are ‘toxic’ or have an element where something just feels off about them, they can really impinge on our balance, and critically, the way we show up as ourselves. So, in todays’ episode you’re going to hear my thoughts on how to choose relationships that are best for you, which ones to avoid to protect your balance and when you might be blocking yourself from the right people! To help you take action on these principles, you'll find some journal or meditation prompts below - use them however you like to work through the takeaways from today's ep - enjoy! JOURNAL PROMPTS: What value do I want from a relationship/friendship with ______? *Can also be done as a hypothetical if you’re looking for new friends or a new partner i.e. What value do I want from a friendship? What have some past relationships taught be about what I DO NOT want in a relationship/friendship? What values can I see I hold as a result of these? Are my current relationships/friendships allowing me to be my most authentic self? If there are some that are not, why am I holding on to them? Is there other value that can justify my time/energy being involved in this relationship? Can I identify any limiting beliefs I hold about what I deserve or am worthy of that could be influencing my decision to maintain these ‘toxic’ relationships? If yes, can I rewrite them to attract what I do deserve in my life?
