हिरण्याक्षे पोत्रिप्रवरवपुषा देव भवता हते शोकक्रोधग्लपितधृतिरेतस्य सहज: । हिरण्यप्रारम्भ: कशिपुरमरारातिसदसि प्रतिज्ञमातेने तव किल वधार्थं मधुरिपो ॥१॥हिरण्याक्षे (हते)(when) Hiranyaaksha (was killed)पोत्रि-प्रवर-वपुषाby (Thee) in the form of the exalted Boarदेव भवताO Lord! By Theeहतेwas killed (then)शोक-क्रोध-ग्लपित-धृति:-(his brother) who had lost mental balance due to grief and angerएतस्य सहज:his brotherहिरण्य-प्रारम्भ: कशिपु:-Kashipu' whose name started with 'Hiranya'अमर-अराति-सदसिin the assembly of the enemy of the Devas (ie Asuras)प्रतिज्ञाम्-आतेनेan oath tookतव किल वधार्थंfor killing Thee, it is saidमधुरिपोO Lord! Slayer of MadhuO Lord! Slayer of Madhu! When Hiranyaaksha was killed by Thee, incarnate as the Divine Boar, his brother named Hiranyakashipu was smitten with sorrow and anger. In the assembly of the Asuras he swore to kill Thee.

त्वत्सेवनेन दितिरिन्द्रवधोद्यताऽपि तान्प्रत्युतेन्द्रसुहृदो मरुतोऽभिलेभे । दुष्टाशयेऽपि शुभदैव भवन्निषेवा तत्तादृशस्त्वमव मां पवनालयेश ॥११॥त्वत्-सेवनेनby worshipping Theeदिति:-Ditiइन्द्र-वध-उद्यता-अपिthough wanting to kill Indraतान्-प्रत्युत-them, instead,इन्द्र-सुहृद: मरुत:-Indra's friends Marutsअभिलेभेbegotदुष्ट-आशये-अपिeven for evil mind personsशुभदा-एवThy worshipभवत्-निषेवाgives good onlyतत्-तादृश:-त्वम्-Thou who are thusअव मांprotect meपवन-आलय-ईशO Lord of Guruvaayur!Diti, the mother of the Asuras, worshipped Thee in order to have a son who would kill Indra, but instead gave birth to Maruts who became friends of Indra. By worshipping Thee, even an evil minded person receives good only. O Lord of Guruvaayur! Who are like that, deign to protect me.

निस्सम्भ्रमस्त्वयमयाचितशापमोक्षो वृत्रासुरत्वमुपगम्य सुरेन्द्रयोधी । भक्त्यात्मतत्त्वकथनै: समरे विचित्रं शत्रोरपि भ्रममपास्य गत: पदं ते ॥१०॥निस्सम्भ्रम:-unperturbedतु-अयम्-however, he (Chitraketu)अयाचित-शाप-मोक्ष:did not ask for relief from the curseवृत्रासुरत्वम्-उपगम्यas vritraasura being bornसुरेन्द्र-योधीagainst Indra fightingभक्त्या-by his devotionआत्मतत्त्व-कथनै:and by imparting knowledge of the selfसमरेin the battle,विचित्रंsurprisingly,शत्रो:-अपि भ्रमम्-the delusion of the enemy alsoअपास्यremovingगत: पदं तेreached Thy abodeUnperturbed, Chitraketu did not ask for relief from the curse, and was born as Vritraasura. By his devotion, while fighting in the battle against Indra, he imparted the knowledge of the self to Indra and he removed the delusion of even his enemy. Thereby he reached Thy abode. What a wonder!

अत्यन्तसङ्गविलयाय भवत्प्रणुन्नो नूनं स रूप्यगिरिमाप्य महत्समाजे । निश्शङ्कमङ्ककृतवल्लभमङ्गजारिं तं शङ्करं परिहसन्नुमयाभिशेपे ॥९॥अत्यन्त-सङ्ग-विलयायto rid (himself) of all sensuous hankeringsभवत्-प्रणुन्न: नूनंprompted by Thee, it seems,स रूप्यगिरिम्-आप्यhe, reaching the Silver mountain (Kailaash)महत्-समाजेin the assembly of sagesनिश्शङ्कम्-without any inhibitionअङ्क-कृत-वल्लभम्-who had seated his consort on his lapअङ्गजारिं तं शङ्करंthe destroyer of Kaamdeva, that Shankaraपरिहसन्-ridiculing (him)उमया-अभिशेपेwas cursed by UmaaTo rid himself completely of all sensuous hankerings, prompted by Thee, he once went to Mount Kailaash. There he saw the destroyer of Kaamadeva , Shankara, sitting in the assembly of sages with his consort Umaa seated on his lap without any concern. Chitraketu mocked at him and in turn was cursed by Umaa.

त्वद्भक्तमौलिरथ सोऽपि च लक्षलक्षं वर्षाणि हर्षुलमना भुवनेषु कामम् । सङ्गापयन् गुणगणं तव सुन्दरीभि: सङ्गातिरेकरहितो ललितं चचार ॥८॥त्वत्-भक्त-मौलि:-अथ स-the greatest of devotees ,he, thenअपि चand alsoलक्ष-लक्षं वर्षाणिfor many many yearsहर्षुल-मनाhappily (blissfully)भुवनेषुin all the worldsकामम् सङ्गापयन्made to be sungगुणगणं तवThy gloriesसुन्दरीभि:by beautiful Vidyaadharisसङ्ग-अतिरेक-रहित:without much sensuous attachmentललितं चचारhappily wandered aboutThis great devotee Chitraketu for many many years wandered about happily in all the worlds without much attachment. He led the troupe of beautiful Vidyaadharis and also caused Thy glories and excellences to be sung, to his hearts content.

तस्मै मृणालधवलेन सहस्रशीर्ष्णा रूपेण बद्धनुतिसिद्धगणावृतेन । प्रादुर्भवन्नचिरतो नुतिभि: प्रसन्नो दत्वाऽऽत्मतत्त्वमनुगृह्य तिरोदधाथ ॥७॥तस्मैto him (Chitraketu)मृणाल-धवलेनas white as a lotus stalkसहस्र-शीर्ष्णाwith a thousand headsरूपेणin (such a) formबद्धनुति-सिद्धगण-आवृतेनsinging hymns of praises,by Sidhdhas, surroundedप्रादुर्भवन्-अचिरत:quickly manifestedनुतिभि: प्रसन्न:with the hymns pleasedदत्वा-आत्म-तत्त्वम्-imparting knowledge of selfअनुगृह्यand blessing (him)तिरोदधाथThou disappearedPresently Thou revealed Thyself to him in Thy form of Aadishesha, with a thousand hoods and white like a lotus stalk,surrounded by bands of Sidhdhaas singing hymns of praise. Pleased with the hymns, Thou blessed him and imparted to him the knowledge of the self and then Thou disappeared.

स्तोत्रं च मन्त्रमपि नारदतोऽथ लब्ध्वा तोषाय शेषवपुषो ननु ते तपस्यन् । विद्याधराधिपतितां स हि सप्तरात्रे लब्ध्वाप्यकुण्ठमतिरन्वभजद्भवन्तम् ॥६॥स्तोत्रं च मन्त्रम्-अपिhymns and Mantrasनारदत:-अथ लब्ध्वाfrom Naarada then receivingतोषाय शेष-वपुष:for propitiation of (Thee) (who were) in the form of Aadisheshaननु ते तपस्यन्practising austerities to Thee aloneविद्याधर-अधिपतितांthe leadership of Vidyaadharasस हि सप्त-रात्रे लब्ध्वा-he obtained only in seven daysअपि-अकुण्ठमति:-still dissatisfiedअन्वभजत्-भवन्तम्(he) continued to worship TheeThen receiving hymns and Mantras from Naarada, he practised austerities for propitiating Thee who were in the form of Aadishesha. Within seven days he obtained the leadership of the Vidyaadharas. Still dissatisfied, he continued to worship Thee with the same fervour.

तं नारदस्तु सममङ्गिरसा दयालु: सम्प्राप्य तावदुपदर्श्य सुतस्य जीवम् । कस्यास्मि पुत्र इति तस्य गिरा विमोहं त्यक्त्वा त्वदर्चनविधौ नृपतिं न्ययुङ्क्त ॥५॥तं नारद:-तुhim, Naarada thenसमम्-अङ्गिरसाalong with Angirasaदयालु:merciful (Naarada)सम्प्राप्यapproachingतावत्-उपदर्श्यthen showedसुतस्य जीवम्the son's soulकस्य-अस्मि पुत्र(:) इतिwhose son am I, thusतस्य गिराby his speechविमोहं त्यक्त्वाgiving up delusionत्वत्-अर्चन-विधौin the ways of Thy worshipनृपतिं न्ययुङ्क्तgave instructions to the kingThe merciful Naarada and sage Angirasa went to Chitraketu and showed him the soul of his dead son. The soul asked 'whose son am I?' These words dispelled the king's delusion. The sages then instructed him in the ways of Thy worship.

प्राक्शूरसेनविषये किल चित्रकेतु: पुत्राग्रही नृपतिरङ्गिरस: प्रभावात् । लब्ध्वैकपुत्रमथ तत्र हते सपत्नी- सङ्घैरमुह्यदवशस्तव माययासौ ॥४॥प्राक्-once upon a timeशूरसेन-विषयेin Shoorsena's kingdomकिल चित्रकेतु:indeed, Chitraketuपुत्र-आग्रही नृपति:desirous of a son, the kingअंगिरस: प्रभावात्by sage Angirasa's blessingsलब्ध्वा-एक-पुत्रम्-getting one sonअथ तत्र हते सपत्नीसङ्घै:-then, there (the son) was killed by the other wivesअमुह्यत्-अवश:-and overcome by grief, he faintedतव मायया असौowing to the power of Thy MaayaaOnce upon a time, in the kingdom named Shoorsena the king Chitraketu was desirous of getting a son. By the blessings of sage Angirasa he got a son. The child was killed by his other wives out of jealousy. The king fainted with grief owing to the power of Thy Maayaa.

षष्ट्या ततो दुहितृभि: सृजत: कुलौघान् दौहित्रसूनुरथ तस्य स विश्वरूप: । त्वत्स्तोत्रवर्मितमजापयदिन्द्रमाजौ देव त्वदीयमहिमा खलु सर्वजैत्र: ॥३॥षष्ट्या तत: दुहितृभि:then by ( his) sixty daughtersसृजत: कुल-औघान्(he) was multiplying the speciesदौहित्र-सूनु:-अथ तस्यthen one of his daughter's son's sonस विश्वरूप:that (named) Vishwaroopaत्वत्-स्तोत्र-वर्मितम्-Thy protective hymnअजापयत्-इन्द्रम्-made Indra reciteआजौin a battleदेवO Lord!त्वदीय-महिमाThy gloryखलु सर्वजैत्र:indeed is victorious over allThen Daksha multiplied the species through his sixty daughters. His daughter's son's son named Vishwaroopa made Indra win the battle against the Asuras. Indra was provided protection and victory by learning from Vishwaroopa the hymn addressed to Thee (Naaraayana Kavacha). O Lord! Thy glory can indeed conquer all.

तस्यात्मजास्त्वयुतमीश पुनस्सहस्रं श्रीनारदस्य वचसा तव मार्गमापु: । नैकत्रवासमृषये स मुमोच शापं भक्तोत्तमस्त्वृषिरनुग्रहमेव मेने ॥२॥तस्य-आत्मजा:-his sonsतु-अयुतम्-indeed ten thousandईशO Lord!पुन:-सहस्रंagain (also) one thousandश्रीनारदस्य वचसाby the advice of Shree Naaradaतव मार्गम्-आपु:took to Thy path (of meditation etc)न-ऐकत्र-वासम्-(you) will not be residing in one placeऋषयेto the sage (Naarada)स मुमोच शापंhe (Daksha) gave the curseभक्त-उत्तम:-तु-ऋषि:-highest of (Thy) devotees, the sageअनुग्रहम्-एव मेनेtook it for a blessing.His eleven thousand sons, on the advice of Shree Naarada took to the path of devotion to Thee, to attain liberation. Daksha was displeased with Naarada and so pronounced a curse on him that he would not have any fixed place of residence. Sage Naarada, the highest of devotees, considered it only as blessing.

प्राचेतसस्तु भगवन्नपरो हि दक्ष- स्त्वत्सेवनं व्यधित सर्गविवृद्धिकाम: । आविर्बभूविथ तदा लसदष्टबाहु- स्तस्मै वरं ददिथ तां च वधूमसिक्नीम् ॥१॥प्राचेत:-तुa son of Prachetas, indeed,भगवन्-O Lord!अपरो हि दक्ष:-another Daksha (not Daksha Prajaapati)त्वत्-सेवनं व्यधितThy worship performedसर्ग-विवृद्धि-काम:the species to multiply desirousआविर्बभूविथ तदाThou appeared thenलसत्-अष्ट-बाहु:-with eight resplendent armsतस्मै वरं ददिथ(and) gave the boonतां च वधूम्-and also that brideअसिक्नीम्(named) AsikniThe son of one of the Prachetas, another Daksha, indeed, desirous of multiplying the progeny, worshipped Thee. Then Thou appeared with eight resplendent arms and gave him a boon and also Asikni as wife.

स्वकिङ्करावेदनशङ्कितो यम- स्त्वदंघ्रिभक्तेषु न गम्यतामिति । स्वकीयभृत्यानशिशिक्षदुच्चकै: स देव वातालयनाथ पाहि माम् ॥११॥Svakinkarāvedanaśaṅkito yama- Stvadanghribhakteṣu na gamyatāmiti । Svakīyabhṛtyānaśiśikṣaduccakaiḥ Sa deva vātālayanātha pāhi mām ॥11॥ஸ்வகின்கராவேத³னஶங்கிதோ யம- ஸ்த்வத³ங்க்ரீப⁴க்தேஷு ந கம்யதாமிதி । ஸ்வகீயப்ருத்யானஶிஷிக்ஷத³உச்சகை: ஸ தே³வ வாதா³லயநாத³ பாஹி மாம் ॥11॥ स्व-किङ्कर-आवेदन-his messengers reprting1`शङ्कित: यम:-the much concerned Yamaत्वत्-अंघ्रि-भक्तेषुto the devotees of Thy feetन गम्यताम्-इतिdo not go, thusस्वकीय-भृत्यान्-his own messengersअशिशिक्षत्-उच्चकै:instructed strictlyस देव वातालयनाथThou (who are such) Lord! O Lord of Guruvaayur!पाहि माम्protect meYama was very much concerned at the report of his messengers. He strictly instructed them not to go to the devotees of Thy feet. O Lord! O Lord of Guruvaayur! Who are such, protect me.

नृणामबुद्ध्यापि मुकुन्दकीर्तनं दहत्यघौघान् महिमास्य तादृश: । यथाग्निरेधांसि यथौषधं गदा - निति प्रभो त्वत्पुरुषा बभाषिरे ॥९॥Nṛṇāmabuddhyāpi mukundakīrtanaṁ Dahatyaghaughān mahimāsya tādṛśaḥ । Yathāgniredhāṁsi yathauṣadhaṁ gadā- Niti prabho tvatpuruṣā babhāṣire ॥9॥ந்ருணாமபு³த்த்யாபி முகுந்தகீர்த³னம் த³ஹத்யகௌ³கான் மஹிமாஸ்ய தாத்ருஶ: । யதா³க்நிரேதாம்³ஸி யதௌஷதம் கதா- நிதி ப்ரபோ த்வத்புருஷா பபாஷிரே ॥9॥नृणाम्-अबुद्ध्या-अपिof human beings, unknowingly even,मुकुन्द्-कीर्तनंthe name of Mukund is chantedदहति-अघ-औघान्burns up all sinsमहिमा-अस्य तादृश:its glory is suchयथा-अग्नि:-एधांसिlike fire (burning) fuelयथा-औषधं गदान् इतिlike medicine (curing) diseaseप्रभोO Lord! Thusत्वत्-पुरुषा बभाषिरेThy emissaries did speakO Lord! Thy emissaries told them that even if the chanting of The Name of Mukund is done unknowingly, by the human beings, it burns up all their sins. Its glory is like that of fire burning the fuel and like the medicine curing the disease.

अनेन भो जन्मसहस्रकोटिभि: कृतेषु पापेष्वपि निष्कृति: कृता । यदग्रहीन्नाम भयाकुलो हरे- रिति प्रभो त्वत्पुरुषा बभाषिरे ॥८॥Anena bho janmasahasrakoṭibhiḥ Kṛteṣu pāpeṣvapi niṣkṛtiḥ kṛtā । Yadagrahīnnāma bhayākulo hare- Riti prabho tvatpuruṣā babhāṣire ॥8॥அநேந போ ஜன்மஸஹஸ்ரகோ³டிபி: க்ருதேஷு பாபேஷ்வபி நிஷ்க்ருதி: க்ருதா । யத³க்ரஹீந்நாம ப⁴யாகுலோ ஹரே- ரிதி ப்ரபோ த்வத்புருஷா பபாஷிரே ॥8॥अनेन भोby him (Ajaamil) O! You (messengers of Yama)जन्म-सहस्र-कोटिभि:in innumerable livesकृतेषु पापेषु-अपिif he has committed sins alsoनिष्कृति: कृताatonement has been madeयत्-अग्रहीत्-नामbecause he took (uttered) the nameभय-आकुल: हरे:-इतिovercome by fear, of Hari, thusप्रभोO Lord!त्वत्-पुरुषा बभाषिरेThy emissaries did speakO Lord! Thy emissaries told the messengers of Yama that though overcome by fear, Ajaamil had uttered the Name of Hari. By that alone he had atoned for all the sins committed by him in innumerable lives.

श्रुतिस्मृतिभ्यां विहिता व्रतादय: पुनन्ति पापं न लुनन्ति वासनाम् । अनन्तसेवा तु निकृन्तति द्वयी- मिति प्रभो त्वत्पुरुषा बभाषिरे ॥७॥Śrutismṛtibhyāṁ vihitā vratādayaḥ Punanti pāpaṁ na lunanti vāsanām । Anantasevā tu nikṛntati dvayī- Miti prabho tvatpuruṣā babhāṣire ॥7॥ஶ்ருதிஸ்ம்ருதிப்யாம் விஹிதா³ வ்ரதா³த³ய: புநந்தி பாபம் ந லுநந்தி வாஸநாம் । அநந்தஸேவா து நிக்ருந்ததி த்வயீ- மிதி ப்ரபோ த்வத்புருஷா பபாஷிரே ॥7॥श्रुति-स्मृतिभ्यांin the Srutis and Smritisविहिता: व्रतादय:are laid down, the vows etc.,पुनन्ति पापंcleanse one of sinsन लुनन्ति वासनांbut do not destroy the tendencyअनन्त-सेवा तुservice to the Lord however,निकृन्तति द्वयीम्-इतिdestroys both, thusप्रभोO Lord!त्वत्-पुरुषा बभाषिरेThy emissaries did speakO Lord! Thy emissaries told them that in the Srutis and Smritis as per the vows which are laid down, they absolve a person from sins, but do not curb the sinful tendency. Whereas, the service of the Lord! Destroys both - the sins and the sinful tendencies.

भवन्तु पापानि कथं तु निष्कृते कृतेऽपि भो दण्डनमस्ति पण्डिता: । न निष्कृति: किं विदिता भवादृशा- मिति प्रभो त्वत्पुरुषा बभाषिरे ॥६॥Bhavantu pāpāni kathaṁ tu niṣkṛte Kṛte’pi bho daṇḍanamasti paṇḍitāḥ । Na niṣkṛtiḥ kiṁ viditā bhavādṛśā- Miti prabho tvatpuruṣā babhāṣire ॥6॥ப⁴வந்து பாபானி கத³ம் து நிஷ்க்ருதே க்ருதே'பி போ தண்ட³நமஸ்தி பண்டி³தா: । ந நிஷ்க்ருதி: கிம் விதிதா ப⁴வாத்ருஶா- மிதி ப்ரபோ த்வத்புருஷா பபாஷிரே ॥6॥भवन्तु पापानिlet there be sinsकथं तुhow is itनिष्कृते कृते-अपिatonements have been made एवेन्भो दण्डनम्-अस्ति पण्डिता:are there punishments, O Learned Ones!न निष्कृति किं विदिताis atonement not knownभवदृशाम्-इतिto persons like you? अमुं च संपाश्य विकर्षतो भटान् विमुञ्चतेत्यारुरुधुर्बलादमी । निवारितास्ते च भवज्जनैस्तदा तदीयपापं निखिलं न्यवेदयन् ॥५॥Amuṁ cha saṁpāśya vikarṣato bhaṭān Vimuñchate tyārurudhurbalādamī । Nivāritāste cha bhavajjanaiḥ tadā Tadīyapāpaṁ nikhilaṁ nyavedayan ॥5॥அமும் ச ஸம்பாஶ்ய விகர்ஷதோ படாந் விமுஞ்சதே த்யாருருதூர்ப³லாத்மீ । நிவாரிதாஸ்தே ச ப⁴வஜ்ஜநைஸ்ததா ததீயபாபம் நிகிலம் ந்யவேத³யந் ॥5॥अमुं च संपाश्यhim (Ajaamila) tying up with ropesविकर्षत: भटान्(and) dragging, to the messengers (of Yama)विमुञ्चत-इति-"Release him" thus (saying)आरुरुधु:-बलात्-अमी(were) stopped by force, theyनिवारिता:-ते च भवत्-जनै:-and were obstructed by Thy emissariesतदा तदीय-पापं निखिलंthen, all his sinsन्यवेदयन्(they) narratedSeeing Ajaamil tied up with ropes and being dragged by the messengers of Yama, they were obstructed by Thy emissaries by force and were stopped to do so. Then the emissaries of Yama narrate all his sins.

Thou resides as Hayagreeva. I meditate on this horse-necked form of Thine which is famed as the restorer of the Vedas lost in the deluge at the end of the cosmic cycle. This Hayagreeva form of Thine is worshipped by the Rishis Bhadraashwara with hymns of praises.

उक्त्वा सुतेभ्योऽथ मुनीन्द्रमध्ये विरक्तिभक्त्यन्वितमुक्तिमार्गम् । स्वयं गत: पारमहंस्यवृत्ति- मधा जडोन्मत्तपिशाचचर्याम् ॥८॥Uktvā sutebhyo'tha munīndra madhye Viraktibhaktyanvitamuktimārgam । Svayaṁ gataḥ pāramahaṁsyavṛtti- Madha jaḍonmattapiśācacaryām ॥8॥உக்த்வா ஸுதே³ப்யோ'த³ முநீந்த்ர மத்³யே விரக்திப³க்த்யன்விதமுக்திமார்கம் । ஸ்வயம் கத: பாரமஹம்ஸ்யவ்ருத்தி- மத³ ஜடோந்மத்தபி⁴ஶாசசர்யாம் ॥8॥उक्त्वा सुतेभ्य:-अथinstructing the sons thenमुनीन्द्र-मध्येin the midst of great sagesविरक्ति-भक्ति-अन्वित-comprising of renunciation and devotionमुक्ति-मार्गम्the path of liberationस्वयं गत:Thyself went (took to)पारमहंस्यवृत्तिम्-the way of the life of Paramahansasअधा:adoptingजड-उन्मत्त-पिशाच-चर्याम्the behaviour of idiots lunatics and ghostsAfterwards Thou instructed Thy sons along with the great ascetics in the path of salvation through renunciation and devotion. Then adopting the life of a total renunciate Thou moved about behaving like an idiot, a mad man or a ghost.

नवाभवन् योगिवरा नवान्ये त्वपालयन् भारतवर्षखण्डान् । सैका त्वशीतिस्तव शेषपुत्र- स्तपोबलात् भूसुरभूयमीयु: ॥७॥Navābhavan yogivarā navānye Tvapālayan bhāratavarṣakhaṇḍān । Saikā tvaśītistava śeṣaputra- Stapobalāt bhūsurabhūyamīyuḥ ॥7॥நவாப³வந் யோகிவரா நவாந்யே த்வபாலயந் பா³ரதவர்ஷகண்டாந் । ஸைகா த்வஶீதிஸ்தவ ஶேஷபுத்ர- ஸ்தபோபலாத் பூ⁴ஸுரபூ⁴யமீயு: ॥7॥नव-अभवन् योगिवरा:nine of them became great yogisनव-अन्ये-तु-another nine indeedअपालयन् भारतवर्षखण्डान्ruled over the various regions of Bharatavarshaसैका तु-अशीति:-one and eighty howeverतव शेष पुत्र:-Thy remaining sonsतपोबलात्by the power of their austeritiesभूसुरभूयम्-ईयु:attained BraahminhoodNine of them became great yogis, and another nine ruled over the various regions of Bhaaaratavarsha. Thy remaining eighty-one sons attained Braahminhood by the power of their austerities.

इन्द्रस्त्वदुत्कर्षकृतादमर्षा- द्ववर्ष नास्मिन्नजनाभवर्षे । यदा तदा त्वं निजयोगशक्त्या स्ववर्षमेनद्व्यदधा: सुवर्षम् ॥५॥Indrastvadutkarṣakṛtādamarṣā- Dvavarṣa nāsminnajanābhavarṣe । Yadā tadā tvaṁ nijayogaśaktyā Svavarṣam enadvyadhāḥ suvarṣam ॥5॥இந்த்ரஸ்த்வதுத்கர்ஷக்ருதாதமர்ஷா- த்வவர்ஷ நாஸ்மின்னஜநாப³வர்ஷே । யதா³ ததா³ த்வம் நிஜயோகஶக்த்யா ஸ்வவர்ஷம் ஏநத்வ்யதா: ஸுவர்ஷம் ॥5॥इन्द्र:-त्वत्-उत्कर्षकृतात्-Indra by Thy achievementsअमर्षात्out of jealousyववर्ष न-अस्मिन्-did not shower rain on thisअजनाभवर्षे(land) Ajanaabh-varshaयदा तदा त्वंwhen (this happened) then Thouनिज-योग-शक्त्याby Thy yogic powerस्व-वर्षम्-एनत्-on Thy own kingdom broughtव्यदधा: सुवर्षम्abundant rainfallOwing to jealousy at the prosperity of the world generated by Thy (Rishabha's) greatness, Indra withheld rain from the continent Ajanaabha. Thereupon Thou by Thy yogic power brought enough rain on this Thy continent.

त्वयि त्रिलोकीभृति राज्यभारं निधाय नाभि: सह मेरुदेव्या । तपोवनं प्राप्य भवन्निषेवी गत: किलानन्दपदं पदं ते ॥४॥Tvayi trilokībhṛti rājyabhāraṁ Nidhāya nābhiḥ saha merudevyā । Tapovanaṁ prāpya bhavanniṣevī Gataḥ kilānandapadaṁ padaṁ te ॥4॥த்வயி த்ரிலோகீப்ருதி ராஜ்யபா³ரஂ நிதாய நாபி: ஸஹ மேருதே³வ்யா । தபோவனம் ப்ராப்ய ப³வந்நிஷேவீ கத: கிலாநந்தப³தம் பதம் தே ॥4॥त्वयि त्रिलोकीभृतिOn Thee, the ruler of the three worldsराज्य-भारं निधायtransferring the responsibility of governanceनाभि: सह मेरुदेव्याNaabhi along with Merudeviतपोवनं प्राप्यreaching the forestभवत्-निषेवीand worshipping Theeगत: किल-आनन्दपदंindeed attained the state of blissपदं तेabode of ThineNaabhi entrusted the administration of the kingdom to Thee, who are the ruler of the three worlds and went away to the forest with his wife Merudevi to lead an ascetic life. Worshipping Thee there, he attained to Thy state of Supreme Bliss.

With the cosmos as Thy formO Lord of the whole universe! The sages sang Thy praises and the king prayed to Thee for a son like Thyself. Thou then declared that Thou would Thyself be born as his son and then Thou disappeared in the sacrificial fire.
