The killer of Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman, continues doing his part to combat the threat of BLM. Amy Louise Wood visits The Context of White Supremacy. An associate professor of history at Illinois State University, Wood is a U.S. cultural historian of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. We'll review her 2009 publication, Lynching and Spectacle: Witnessing Racial Violence in America, 1890-1940. This book was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Award in History. Wood investigates how Whites bearing witness to the mutilation of black bodies helped solidify the White race and legitimized, sanctified the barbarism White Supremacy required. She details the significance of the 1915 masterpiece, Birth Of A Nation, lynching postcards and photographs, and the ritual scavenging of body parts by Racist spectators. Questions surround his cause of death and the value of his estate; Whites again are clamoring to display their regard for a dead black person - who notoriously compared himself to being a "slave" to White music magnates. Speaking of slavery, Whites announced that counter-terrorist and black liberator Harriet Tubman will be the new face of the U.S. twenty dollar bill - black enslaver, White Supremacist and former President Andrew Jackson will be relocated to the back of the bank note. Speaking of Racist elected officials, criminal charges have been filed against several White Michigan officials for the poisoning of the predominantly black city of Flint; Governor Rick Snyder was not one of the officials indicted. Speaking of accountability, former NYPD officer and convicted killer Peter Liang was sentenced to zero days in jail for the 2014 shooting death of Akai Gurley. Part of Turner's motivation for this project was her "biracial" identity - she has a White mother and a black father. She's also invested years of time and energy organizing Black History Month events as well as local Emancipation Day celebrations. Finding Freedom explores the history of enslaved black Americans escaping to Canada in hopes of having a better life. Turner and Drewe do not focus on 21st century White Supremacy in Canada - which has been heavily spotlighted by Black Lives Matter Toronto this year; the filmmakers instead display a litany of black Canadians who've thrived in London, Ontario and made Canada better with their success. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the concluding study session on Leanita McClain's posthumously published A Foot In Each World. McClain was an extraordinarily skilled black journalist in the 1980's. She had essays published in the Chicago Tribune and The Washington Post. She made a habit of using words to reveal how White Supremacy impacted black people. She committed suicide in May of 1984 at the age of 32. Her suicide note illustrates the degree to which White Supremacy compromised her mental health. She wrote: "Do not try to pull me back into this world. I will never live long enough to see my people free anyway." A Foot In Each World is an assembly of her poetry and essays that was edited by her former husband and journalist Clarence Page. Studying her work chronologically offers insight on her evolving thoughts on Racism as well as her personal depression. It seems her fear of being rejected or vilified by other black people was a regular source of agitation. She also seemed to harbor hopes and heartache over a few "Good Whites." Last week we discussed her articles which detailed the dynamics of black fear of police - McClain wrote this essay during Chicago Police commander Jon Burge's reign of terrorism against black citizens. A day later, President Clinton calmed himself and expressed remorse for the conflict. Miles away at the University of Texas Austin, a black male, Meechaiel Criner, was arrested and charged with the death of a 17-year-old White female student. The alleged perpetrator indicated that he was racially abused "almost my whole life" - which greatly compromised his mental health and world view. In North Carolina students on the campus of Duke University occupied the administrative offices for a week before exiting Friday. They rallied to oppose the alleged Racist acts of executive vice president Tallman Trask, who's accused of racially targeting a black parking attendant. The spirit of Dr. King also flourishes north of the border, as Toronto have protested in front of the downtown police headquarters in response to ongoing police terrorism against black Canadians. She was on the editorial board for the Chicago Tribune and was regulalry published in The Washington Post. She consistently used words to reveal how White Supremacy impacted black people. She succumbed to suicide in May of 1984 at the age of 32. Her suicide note emphasizes the degree to which White Supremacy assailed her mental health. She wrote: "Do not try to pull me back into this world. I will never live long enough to see my people free anyway." A Foot In Each World is a collage of her poetry and essays that was edited by her former husband and journalist Clarence Page. Studying her work chronologically offers insight on her evolving thoughts on Racism as well as her depression. This week another black person, Larry Russell Dawson, was shot in the capitol city after brandishing a fire arm at the entrance to the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center. Unlike Carey, this week's shooting victim was taken into custody alive. Numerous media outlets referenced the 2013 slaughter of Carey and continued the campaign of deception - insisting that Carey crashed a White House gate and raced through the city. Speaking of assault, the "LGBT" division of White Supremacy has sprung to action in response to recent bills in North Carolina and Georgia that are touted as being "anti-gay." Strangely, notoriously homophobic black people apparently had little to do with these bills. White protesters at a Wisconsin Donald Trump rally toted "Black Lives Matter" signs while confronting supporters of the presidential hopeful. A White teen protester, identified in reports as Alex Drake, alleges that a Trump supporter fondled her breast; subsequent reports contend that police have concluded no inappropriate touching occured. United States presidential candidates recalibrated their talking points to speak to the alleged terrorist menace. While Donald J. Trump and Hillary R. Clinton maintain considerable delegate leads in the chase for nomination, in Arizona another alleged Trump protester was bum-rushed. Only this time, a black male, Staff Sgt. Tony Pettway, was detained for cracking the noggin of a White man, Trump dissenter Bryan Sanders. Speaking of police, Peter Liang, the former NYPD officer and convicted killer of Akai Gurley, received a recommendation from the district attorney that he not be incarcerated; the Gurley family was "blindsided." New York hip hop icon and A Tribe Called Quest co-founder Phife Dawg died this week at the age of 45. Former mayor of Toronto, crack smoker and Suspected Racist Rob Ford also died. He was 46. Her theory of White Genetic Annihilation continues to be substantiated daily. In the United Stated the clocks were moved forward and Donald J. Trump and Hillary R. Clinton pummeled their opponents during the final winter primary; both hold sizable delegate leads and look poised for a November deathmatch for the White House. Once again black people were credited with aiding Clinton's defeat of Senator Bernie Sanders. Speaking of black political power, President Obama nominated Judge Garland Merrick to fill the SCOTUS vacancy. NPR's Nina Totenberg noted that the president picked the only White Man on his short list of candidates. Michigan Governor Rick Snyder testified before Congress about the poisoned water in Flint and how his administration's response. Despite ongoing recall efforts, Mr. Snyder remains employed. And speaking of White men getting off the hook, the continuing trials for the 2013 White Terrorism at San Jose State University highlight the need for criminal justice reform. Two former White students were sentenced to thirty days in jail or weekend work; they must also complete "50 hours of volunteer work with a nonprofit organization serving the black community and enroll in a cultural awareness program on the African-American experience." Karen Branan visits The Context of White Supremacy. A White Woman and author, Ms. Branan submits an lofty 50 year career as a journalists. She's been published in Life, Mother Jones, the Atlanta-Journal-Constitution to name a few. We'll examine her first book, The Family Tree: A Lynching In Georgia, A Legacy of Secrets, and My Search For The Truth. Branan excavates her family history to discover the details about a 1912 lynching in Georgia. In response to the killing of one White man, a White Terrorist mob took one black female and three black males from jail to lynch and mutilate their bodies. It's seems likely all four were innocent of this crime. Branan asserts that White men's proclivity for sexually molesting black females was at the heart of this case and much of the activity surrounding Racism of this period. She provides context for the Georgia massacre by incorporating the tireless work of Ida B Wells-Barnett as well the widely popular fiction of Thomas Dixon Jr. - who authored the Clansman, which was adapted to the blockbuster film Birth Of A Nation. President Obama was pilloried for skipping her funeral. Speaking of resurrections, Senator Bernie Sanders resuscitated his presidential campaign by defeating Hillary Clinton in the Michigan Primary. Once again, non-white people were credited with swaying the the final result - black Michigan voters didn't come through for Clinton. Interestingly, during the Flint, Michigan debate preceding the primary, Sanders was questioned about his "racial blind spots." While responding he said that Whites are ignorant about ghetto life and - more importantly - about being poor. Whites in Appalachia were pissed. Meanwhile, Donald Trump supporters have demonstrated no ignorance about being White or how they feel about black people. Black attendees at Trump rallies continue to be violently assaulted by Whites. Significantly, black voters were widely and consistently credited with Clinton's victories over Senator Bernie Sanders. Meanwhile, Trump didn't seem to be bruised at the polls by public backing from Dr. David Duke and other overt White Supremacists. Speaking of overt Racism, this first week of March marks the 25 year anniversary of the late Rodney King being bludgeoned on camera by the Los Angeles Police Department. The Los Angeles Times asserts that the recorded mauling significantly reduced incidents of officers using batons - also known as "nigger knockers" - on California citizens. In fact, the relationship between enforcement officials and negro citizens has improved so drastically that it's hard believe an unarmed black male was shot and killed in Alabama. Adding to the shock, a White officer, Aaron Smith, has been arrested and charged with murder. His attorney, Mickey McDermott, contends that this is an example of "political correctness" run amok. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the debut study session on Leanita McClain's posthumously published A Foot In Each World. McClain was a superb journalist who had essays published in the Chicago Tribune and The Washington Post. Her columns examined Racism and the terrorism waged against black people in all areas of people activity. She committed suicide in May of 1984 at the age of 32. Her suicide note reveals the degree to which White Supremacy eviscerated her mental health. She wrote: "Do not try to pull my back into this world. I will never live long enough to see my people free anyway." A Foot In Each World is a collection of her various essays that was edited by her former husband Clarence Page. McClain often focused on the city of Chicago, Illinois. Her writings suggest that she endured a great deal of angst about being placed in a better position that most black people. Ross Howell Jr. visits The Context of White Supremacy. A University of Virginia alumnus, prolific writer and a White man, Howell lives in North Carolina with his wife and rescued hounds. We'll examine his freshly printed debut novel, Forsaken. The book centers around an impoprtant piece of authentic Virginia history. Howell describes the tragic life of Virginia Christian. This black teenager was given the death penalty and executed for killing her White female employer in 1912. Christian alleged that the White woman, Ida Belote, falsely accused her and physically assaulted her with an object; Christian defended herself and killed Belote in the process. Christian was expeditiously arrested, convicted and electrocuted. We'll ask why Ross Howell became interested in this case as well as why he chose present this material in the form of fiction. The main character who guides us through Forsaken is a "well-meaning" White journalist (Charlie Mears), who does practice Racism, but is eventually accused of betraying his obligations to the White Race. The Washington Post reported that not only did the young victims engage in consensual sex, the young teens interrupted the girl and her drunk father who were engaged in sexual incest in public. Speaking of The Big Apple, thousands of protesters rallied behind convicted killer and former NYDP officer Peter Liang. Many Asians maintain that Liang is only facing prison time because he is not White and that he should not be "scapegoated" for police terrorism against black citizens. Not all "Chinese Americans" endorse this stance. In upstate New York, three black female students at the University of Albany have been charged with filing false reports and assault. Earlier this year, the black students reported being racially brutalized on a bus. Enforcement officers now report that video footage contradicts their claim and shows that they were the aggressors. Across the country, a group of former San Jose State University White thugs were not convicted of hate crimes for their 2013 terrorist assault of a black male freshmen; the young Race soldiers placed a bike lock around the black scholars throat and called him "three fifths" and "fraction." The White hoodlums were convicted of misdemeanor battery charges; the prosecutor chose not to pursue felony charges. Baptist, a Racist Suspect, created this text to concentrate the enslavement and desecration of black bodies as essential to the foundation and success of the United States. He confirms that the torture and forced labor of black people was an extraordinarily efficient industrial system and would not have ended naturally on its own. The book chapters are named after body parts to emphasize how the White slave system embodied complete war on black bodies. Last week's installment covered the infamous Dred Scott decision. Eliza Emerson (a White Woman) refused to allow Dred and Harriet Scott to purchase themselves from her. Baptist stresses how Emerson's interest was beyond money; she wanted a universal declaration of White dominion over black bodies. Asadah Kirkland visits The Context of White Supremacy. A black mother with more than twenty years experience working with children, Ms. Kirkland's unconventional academic settings allowed for the freedom to teach her own curricula and deliver her own messages that nourished black students. We'll discuss her 2009 publication, Beating Black Kids. She investigates why large numbers of black people believe in and resort to physically hitting black children as a normative form of discipline. She connects this practice to our traumatic experience with White Supremacy and offers an abundance of alternative concepts and child-rearing strategies to rear healthy, creative, well-behaved black children. James Walvin visits The Context of White Supremacy. Mr. Walvin is a Professor of History Emeritus at University of York. He's written and edited thirty books, including Black Presence: A Documentary History of the Negro in England and Black and White: The Negro and English Society. We'll review his 2011 publication, The Zong: A Massacre, The Law & The End Of Slavery. Gus learned about this book while reading Edward Baptist's The Half Has Never Been Told. Walvin's text explores an 1781 slave ship financed by a Racist Liverpool consortium. The slave ship, the Zong, allegedly ran perilously low on water before reaching its destination in Jamaica. The Whites on board decided the best remedy would be to toss approximately 150 black people overboard to their death. This included children and females. There was nothing unusual or abnormal about this act. Slaughtering black people on the high seas was a predictable, standard procedure. What established this extermination as infamous was that the White financiers pursued compensation for their murdered negroes. The trial drew widespread attention and galvanized a movement that ended the British slave trade in less than thirty years. This obviously did not end White Supremacy or British "colonization" and "imperialism."
