The Context of White Supremacy welcomes the return of Dr. Niyana Rasayon [http://eyesofmaat.com/]. A Behavioral Neuroscientist, Neuropsychologist, and North Carolina A&T alumnus, Dr. Rasayon is also an educator, author and father. Dr. Rasayon has written two books: Reality Check: A Manuel for the Hue-Man Octahedron & The Mystery of Melain and The Awakening: OMG The President is Black. For some reason, Dr. Rasayon's visits to The C.O.W.S. have frequently coincided with mass shootings. The incident has been inaccurately branded the "deadliest mass shooting in American history" - which again ignores untold decades of genocidal rampages against black people. The relentless media coverage of the attacks has produced conflicting information; one report alleged that the suspected killer, Omar Mateen, made Racist remarks about black people, while differing accounts stated that he spared black people's lives because they had already suffered enough. This week marked other notable events in the archives of White Terrorism. Mississippi's James Meredith recognized the half century since his "March Against Fear" - where he was shot by a White Race Soldier. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Kwame Toure (Stokely Carmichael) and others joined the campaign, and Toure made his famous proclamation of "Black Power." This week was also the 40 year anniversary of the Soweto student uprisings in South Africa. Black students were brutalized and killed countering the 1976 apartheid regime. Last week's session explored how black prisoners were disproportionately targeted for treacherous experiments when they could not give consent free from coercion. Cathy Dang visits The Context of White Supremacy. As the Executive Director of Committee Against Anti-Asian Violence (CAAAV), Ms. Dang has lead campaigns for just living and working conditions in immigrant and communities of color for nearly ten years. She has dedicated years of her life to community organizing in immigrant communities. Ms. Dang and CAAAV have been deeply involved with the 2014 shooting death of Akai Gurley. The unarmed black male was shot and killed by a Chinese-American NYPD officer, Peter Liang. Earlier this year, Liang was convicted of manslaughter, but was not sentenced to jail time. Thousands of Asian Americans across the country launched massive protests in support of Peter Liang, suggesting that he was being scapegoated and was also a victim. Ms. Dang has consistently asserted that Liang should be held accountable for killing a US citizen. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Christopher Clark live from South Africa. A self-professed "journalist, writer and wanderer," Clark is a White man who's had artcles published at CNN, World Travel Guide, Business Day, and The Huffington Post. He recently authored a blog titled: "I'm a racist, but I'm trying my best to amend for that." Clark's focus is the recent wrangling involving Matthew Theunissen, this White man posted a racist eruption on social media, but protested being branded a Racist. Clark submits that this is standard White behavior - a total refusal to admit that being Racist in spite of having White Supremacist beliefs and/or engaging in White Supremacist behavior. Former President Bill Clinton delivered the eulogy at Friday's memorial service - further validating his status as the first black president. Speaking of sexual scandals, Brock Turner, a White convicted rapist and former Stanford student, received a measly six months sentence which provoked a national outrage. No Stanford alumnus has sparked this much commotion since NFL cornerback Richard Sherman. The kerffufle is rather curious because it's standard operating procedure for White people to receive less harsh sentences. In contrast to Mr. Turner, Davonte Sanford, an illiterate black teen who's blind in one eye, was wrongfully convicted of a quadruple murder and sentenced to 37 to 90 years behind bars. Now 23, Sanford was released from prison this week. Speaking of liberation, Hillary Clinton became the first female to win a US presidential nomination for a major political party. She'll square off against GOP candidate Donald J. These iconic black figures recived far less attention this week than Cincinnati, Ohio's Harambe The Gorilla. The 400 lbs. ape was shot and killed by zoo officials after a 4-year-old black child fell into the gorillas wading area. Throngs of Whites fumed over the decision to sacrifice the ape to safegaurd the child; many are calling for the black mother to be charged with neglect. It's not clear if any of these protesters were as outraged about the shooting deaths of John Crawford III, Tamir Rice, or Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams - all black Ohioans gunned down by enforcement officers. Dr. Melissa N. Stein visits The Context of White Supremacy. An assistant professor in the Gender and Womenâ??s Studies Department at the University of Kentucky, Dr. Stein's research interests include African American history and women's/gender history. On his last trip to The C.O.W.S., Dr. Tommy Curry highly recommended Dr. Stein's first book, Measuring Manhood: Race and the Science of Masculinity, 1830-1934. The text highlights how humanity and citizenship were defined in terms of White manhood. Consequently, black males and females were judged as defective men and women and deserving of enslavement and White domination. Dr. Stein documents how White scientists compiled an array of statistics and tabulations that demonstrated the inferiority of black people - heads were too tiny, genitalia too big. Dr. Stein also examines how sexuality was defined within a context of White Supremacy. White sexual deviance was racial suicide that threatened reproduction. Suspected Race Soldier Chester Thompson was convicted of misconduct, not rape. In nnother illustration of the swell relationship between black females and the police, a San Francisco police officer shot and killed a 27-year-old black female; this was the latest controversy involving San Fransisco policing and resulted in the resignation of Police Chief Greg Suhr. Speaking of repetitive, just like in Ferguson, Missouri, Bay Area Whites selected a black male, Toney Chaplin, as the replacement police chief. Across the country, many continue the verbal jousting over transgender access to North Carolina lavatories. Attracting much less attention, North Carolina Senate Bill 873 will lower tuition and possibly change the names of 5 schools within the state - three of the institutions are historically black institutes. Lorne Cress Love visits The Context of White Supremacy. Ms. Love is the older sister of the late Dr. Frances Cress Welsing. Ms. Cress Love volunteered with SNCC during the 1960's and worked to create black media platforms where Racism could be discussed. During her earlier visits to the program, Ms. Cress Love, provided a wealth of insight on Dr. Welsing's childhood, the Cress family legacy of countering Racism and using your skills and resources to help black people. Before Dr. Welsing's transition, she predicted that Donald J. Trump would take the White House in November of 2016. This was before primary season and at a time when few political pundits regarded Trump as a serious candidate. Now, it looks as though Dr. Welsing may have delivered a devastating political forecast based on her comprehenisve understanding of White Supremacy. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the concluding study session on Leanita McClain's posthumously published A Foot In Each World. McClain was an extraordinarily skilled black journalist in the 1980's. She had essays published in the Chicago Tribune and The Washington Post. She made a habit of using words to reveal how White Supremacy impacted black people. She committed suicide in May of 1984 at the age of 32. Her suicide note illustrates the degree to which White Supremacy compromised her mental health. She wrote: "Do not try to pull me back into this world. I will never live long enough to see my people free anyway." A Foot In Each World is an assembly of her poetry and essays that was edited by her former husband and journalist Clarence Page. Studying her work chronologically offers insight on her evolving thoughts on Racism as well as her personal depression. It seems her fear of being rejected or vilified by other black people was a regular source of agitation. She also seemed to harbor hopes and heartache over a few "Good Whites." Last week we discussed her articles which detailed the dynamics of black fear of police - McClain wrote this essay during Chicago Police commander Jon Burge's reign of terrorism against black citizens. John L. Potash returns to The Context of White Supremacy. An author of several books, Mr. Potash has worked as a counselor and substance abuse professional for nearly 30 years. Mr. Potash initially talked with us in 2009 about his debut work, The FBI War On Tupac Shakur and Black Leaders. That book offers a wealth of information on the deliberate, synchronized efforts to neutralize and even murder black activists including Huey P. Newton, Minister Malcolm X, Dr. Afeni Shakur, Assata Shakur, Mumia Abu-Jamal and countless others. His most recent publication, Drugs As Weapons Against Us, builds on his first book by offering a comprehensive review of how White Supremacist enforcement agencies (FBI, CIA, M16, COINTELPRO) have a lengthy history of deliberately using narcotics to neutralize counter-racist efforts. We'll examine news reports from the past seven days and - hopefully - promote a constructive dialog. #ANTIBLACKNESS This week marked the 48-year anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The first black president Bill Clinton marked the occasion by admonishing Black Lives Matter protesters who rebuked the Clintons for their signature political accomplishments that incarcerated record numbers of black bodies. A day later, President Clinton calmed himself and expressed remorse for the conflict. Miles away at the University of Texas Austin, a black male, Meechaiel Criner, was arrested and charged with the death of a 17-year-old White female student. The alleged perpetrator indicated that he was racially abused "almost my whole life" - which greatly compromised his mental health and world view. In North Carolina students on the campus of Duke University occupied the administrative offices for a week before exiting Friday. They rallied to oppose the alleged Racist acts of executive vice president Tallman Trask, who's accused of racially targeting a black parking attendant. The spirit of Dr. King also flourishes north of the border, as Toronto have protested in front of the downtown police headquarters in response to ongoing police terrorism against black Canadians. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the 6th study session on Leanita McClain's posthumously published A Foot In Each World. McClain was a trailblazing black journalist in the 1980's. She was on the editorial board for the Chicago Tribune and was regulalry published in The Washington Post. She consistently used words to reveal how White Supremacy impacted black people. She succumbed to suicide in May of 1984 at the age of 32. Her suicide note emphasizes the degree to which White Supremacy assailed her mental health. She wrote: "Do not try to pull me back into this world. I will never live long enough to see my people free anyway." A Foot In Each World is a collage of her poetry and essays that was edited by her former husband and journalist Clarence Page. Studying her work chronologically offers insight on her evolving thoughts on Racism as well as her depression. It seems her fear of being rejected or vilified by other black people was a consistant source of agitation. She also seemed to harbor hopes and heartache over a few "Good Whites." Last week we covered her articles which detailed the ongoing attacks against Mayor Harold Washington - the first black mayor of Chicago. Edward Vrdolyak led a gang of White elected officials known as the "Vrdolyak 29." McClain documents how these White politicians made it their duty to obstruct and hamper Washington's administration - foreshadowing the Racist hijinks in opposition to President Obama. This week another black person, Larry Russell Dawson, was shot in the capitol city after brandishing a fire arm at the entrance to the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center. Unlike Carey, this week's shooting victim was taken into custody alive. Numerous media outlets referenced the 2013 slaughter of Carey and continued the campaign of deception - insisting that Carey crashed a White House gate and raced through the city. Speaking of assault, the "LGBT" division of White Supremacy has sprung to action in response to recent bills in North Carolina and Georgia that are touted as being "anti-gay." Strangely, notoriously homophobic black people apparently had little to do with these bills. White protesters at a Wisconsin Donald Trump rally toted "Black Lives Matter" signs while confronting supporters of the presidential hopeful. A White teen protester, identified in reports as Alex Drake, alleges that a Trump supporter fondled her breast; subsequent reports contend that police have concluded no inappropriate touching occured. Last week we reviewed her essays that capture the energy and angst following Harold Washington's victory as the first black mayor of Chicago. McClain documents how the "Vrdolyack 29" and Whites in general declared war on Washington and aimed to thwart all of his political objectives. In an effort to be "neutral," "objective," McClain pointed out how Washington's behavior was not always fitting of the mayor's office - similar to her remarks on Jesse Jackson's fitness for the White House. McClain also seem conflicted about allegations that the White dominated press practiced Racism in it's coverage of Mayor Washington and black Chicagoans in general. It seems she thought of herself as a representative for both parties.
