The website "is a photographic and informational blog featuring a diverse array of Brazilian Women of African descent. As much of the English speaking world is not familiar with the history of African descendants in Brazil, it also features news, essays, reports and interviews spanning an array of topics including race, racism, hair, affirmative action, police brutality, etc. intended to give a more complete view of the experiences of black women in particular and black people in general in Brazil with a goal of provoking discussion through the lens of race." Since Brazil has the highest population of black people in the Western hemisphere, this region is an important area of counter-racist study. The 2016 Olympic games were held in Brazil, but the extravaganza did not improve the quality of life for black Brazilians. Both nominees faced fierce - and, ultimately, impotent - opposition to their appointments. One of the more vocal critics of federal bureaucrats, Nevade rancher Cliven Bundy's trial is set to commence for his 2014 armed showdown with government officials. Some observers predict "White nationalists" will be emboldened if the Bundy patriarch is not convicted for his militant defiance of federal authority. Showing the opposite end of police tactics, French officers are accused of anally raping a black male. Al Jazeera reports the "police investigation concluded that the anal rape of a young black man by an officer using a truncheon was an accident." The Context of White Supremacy hosts the 3rd study session on Vincent Woodard's The Delectable Negro: Human Consumption and Homoeroticism within US Slave Culture. Mr. Woodard died in 2008, but book was posthumously published in 2014. NYU Press describes the void this book aims to fill; "Scholars of US and transatlantic slavery have largely ignored or dismissed accusations that Black Americans were cannibalized." Woodard unearths primary sources, like the autobiographies of Olaudah Equiano and Frederick Douglass, as well as black newspapers and slave advertisements from the antebellum period. Last week's session provided a comprehensive re-examination of how black bodies were literally and figuratively devoured by Whites during slavery. In one of the most profound segments of the text, Woodard writes: "Elaborating on the culinary connotations of the word â??seasoningâ?? (season: â??to heighten or improve the avor of food by adding condiments, spices, herbs, or the likeâ??), I link the physically brutal culture of seasoning to the parallel development of erotic appetites, tastes, and aesthetic longings for the black male. This broader understanding of seasoning is important, as it helps explain how institutional processes, such as Christian indoctrination, male fraternal love and bonding, and the acquisition of literacy facilitated the social consumption of the Negro and the creation of a high cultural premium upon African flesh." Author of The Isis Papers and founder of the Cress-Welsing Institute of Psychiatry and Social Research, Dr. Frances Cress Welsing visited The C.O.W.S. for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s 2012 holiday. The subject of her visit was the cycle of White predators hunting and consuming black people. We examined the cases of Jeffrey Dahmer and Jerry Sandusky. Dahmer was convicted of butchering, sexually exploiting, and eating the melanated bodies of his Wisconsin victims. Sandusky was convicted of raping an untold number of children over a number of years; there's suspicion that Sandusky specifically violated black children. In Canada, Alexandre Bissonnette, a Suspected White Terrorist, initiated a Dylann-Roof-like attack on a Muslim mosque. He's accused of shooting at a crowd of approximately 50 people, killing six. Many pundits posit that anti-muslim, racist rhetoric inspires these slaughters. Speaking of Race Soldiers, convicted serial rapist Daniel Holtzclaw filed an appeal in Oklahoma. Maintaining the global theme of Whites not being reprimanded for the abuse and murder of black people, the Los Angeles Police officers who killed Ezell Ford in 2014 will not be charged. The impotent investigation lasted more than eighteen months. Hip-hop mogul Jay Z addresses the plague of police terrorism with his new documentary series on the tragic life and death of Kalief Browder. After being jailed for three years without ever being convicted of a crime, Browder committed suicide in 2015. The Context of White Supremacy Radio Program welcomes black residents in the state of North Carolina. These C.O.W.S. listeners have been abused and threatened with regards to their residence. They noted damage to the property when they initially moved in and informed the White property managers of these issues. The Whites initially agreed to repair the damages, but months later, the issue has not been corrected. Now, the White property managers are holding the black residents liable for these damages. Our guests requested a meeting to resolve the matter; however, they reported that the White Woman in charge was malicious, tacky and ultimately accused them of being unruly. The commander in chief gave his farewell address in Chicago, Illinois on Tuesday. He devoted a significant amount of time addressing the problem of "race." However, he only used the term "racism" once - while discussing the idea of "reverse racism." Speaking of persecuted Whites, U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions spent week the refuting charges of Racism during his confirmation hearing for the position of Attorney General. Much like Trump's victory, there's every reason to think Sessions will be confirmed and will confiscate Loretta Lynch's post. In South Carolina, a federal jury sentenced convicted mass murderer and Admitted White Supremacist Dylann Storm Roof to death. Federal prosecutor Jay Richardson labeled Roof an "unrepentant Racist." The Context of White Supremacy hosts the 6th and final study session on Gwen Ifill's 2009 bestseller, The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama. A pioneering journalist and anchor at PBS, Ifill, 61, died from cancer in November of 2016. Ifill was one of the lone black female mainstream journalists, and she consistently highlighted Racism during her journalism career. In fact, White Supremacy likely contributed to her passing at such a young age. During last week's session, Ifill analyzed Obama's 2008 tightrope navigation of Rev. Jeremiah Wright's fiery sermon. Tellingly, the president used the jargon of racial "progress" to rebuke Rev. Wright as someone who failed to concede how much things have "improved" for Victims of Racism. Peddling the "racial progress" of the country has been a staple talking point during Obama's tenure in the White House. Ifill also detailed former Massachusetts governor Deval Patrick. She discussed an incident where Patrick was racially attacked by a group of Whites. Ifill failed to include Patrick's commentary on the incident: "The worst that happened was that someone, a couple people, threw their cigarette butts at me. Nobody actually hit me, but you still feel wounded. And if you're not real careful, you can feel ashamed too... . You feel ashamed of who you are -- and what you are -- which is a disaster." Ifill was one of the lone black female mainstream journalists, and she regularly used her platform as a journalist to interogate the problem of Racism. In fact, White Supremacy likely contributed to her passing at such a young age. During last week's session, Ifill provided a comprehensive inspection of former Newark, New Jersey mayor and current United States Senator Corey Booker. After the publication of The Breakthrough, Davis lost his 2010 gubernatorial bid during the Democratic primary and eventually bolted to join the Republican party in 2012. The Peter V & C Vann Woodward Professor of History at Yale University, Dr. Gilmore's work investigates 20th century United States history, African American history since the Civil War, U.S. women's and gender history since 1865 and the history of the American south. During a September visit, Dr. Tommy J. Curry recommended listeners read Dr. Gilmore's work for evidence that a significant number of black females and black males collectively rejected patriarchy and systemic oppression of females. Before being convicted, prosecutors released evidence that Roof had a catalog of other black churches at the time of his arrest - suggesting he thought of killing more unarmed back people. A witness testified that someone in Roof's house called Mother Emanuel AME months before the June 2015 terrorist attack and new GPS evidence showed Roof visited the church more than once in the months before his assault - showing the meticulous preparation invested in this operation. The sentencing phase of the trial will begin in January; Roof will reportedly represent himself during this portion of the proceedings. Michael Slager, the former police officer who killed unarmed Walter Scott, walked free after a mistrial. Two days after failing to convict one White killer, the federal death penalty trial of White Terrorist Dylann Storm Roof began. If convicted, Roof could be executed for his June 2015 terrorist attack on Mother Emanuel AME Church, where he massacred 9 black worshippers including an elected official. The trial began by recounting the grousome details of Roof's purge. In Louisiana, a different White killer, Ronald Gasser, was finally arrested for killing former NFL star Joe McKnight. Gasser, who has a criminal history of "road rage," shot and killed the unarmed McKnight on Thursday of last week, but enjoyed his freedom until Monday of this week. President-elect Donald Trump labeled Castro a "brutal dictator," while Soledad O'Brien recounted her Cuban mother's memories of Castro's callous and vindictive rule. Jesse Jackson Sr. and Mumia Abu-Jamal recalled Castro's military support of the anti-apartheid effort in South Africa, offer of medical aid during Hurricane Katrina, the safe haven provided to former Black Panther Assata Shakur, and his rendezvous with Minister Malcolm X during his 1960 visit to the United States. Calls to scold the deceased Cuban leader for his acts of brutality seem particularly ironic on this week, when Mecklenburg District Attorney Andrew Murray announced that no charges would be filed for the killing of Keith Lamont Scott. Murray used the occasion to reprimand reckless negro use of social media. Simultaneously and further south, the Walter Scott murder trial is being deliberated by the jury. South Carolina police officer Michael Slager waits to see if he too will be exonerated for extinguishing a black life. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the 6th study session on Lothrop Stoddard's signature work, The Rising Tide Of Color Against White World Supremacy. In the days before her 2015 passing, author and counter-racist scientist Dr. Frances Cress Welsing recommended that black people conduct a serious appraisal of Stoddard to better grasp White Supremacy. A journalist and Harvard-educated historian, Stoddard was an intellectual icon of the early 1900's. He was one of the most prominent champions of Eugenics - the belief that better Whites should have more kids, while lesser Whites and especially non-white people should not procreate. During last week's session, Stoddard asserted that, historically, Whites have "instinctively" unified to ward off non-white threats. But he feared that Whites may become preoccupied with greedy national interests and lose sight of preserving the dominion of the White race. Stoddard bemoans the #WhiteOnWhiteCime of World War One. He emphasizes how the devastation and killing of battle retarded the reproductive rates of White Women and killed a large portion of young White Men - a double whammy. Stoddard warns future White Supremacists that squabbling with other individuals classified as White could doom global White Power. Stoddard seemed particularly concerned that Asians could become a legitamate threat and may warrant a less flagrant, more refined form of war. The Context of White Supremacy reviews the film, INDEFENSIBLE: The Wrongful Prosecution of the Albany Three. The filmmakers will join us to re-examine an important incident from the beginning of 2016. Three black female University of Albany students, Ariel Agudio, Asha Burwell, and Alexis Briggs, reported that a mob of drunken White passengers assailed them on a CDTA public bus. Many expressed outrage about the incident, including presidential candidate Hillary R. Clinton, who posted, "There's no excuse for racism and violence on a college campus." However, weeks after the incident, university police publicized segments of video. Officials concluded the footage absolved the White passengers of any wrongdoing and proceeded to charge the three black females with assault and filing a false report. The three were indicted in May. "The University of Albany expelled Agudio and Burwell and suspended Briggs for two years. INDEFENSIBLE "examines the ways both race and racism are viewed," and highlights "the inherent problems in allowing the benefactors of racism to define and legitimize what constitutes a racially motivated act." The Context of White Supremacy examines the British television series, BLACK MIRROR. University of Texas professor of English Dr. Martin Kevorkian returns to the program to investigate this series. Dr. Kevorkian's book, Color Monitors: The Black Face of Technology in America, may prove especially relevent in decoding Black Mirror. Color Monitors's primary argument is that many of the fictional narratives where Whites articulate a fear of machines, robots, or some non-human entity represent authentic White angst about losing domination over non-white people. Charlie Brooker created Black Mirror to explore "the dark side of our love affair with technology." Frequently compared to The Twilight Zone - which also addressed Racism, Black Mirror reflects a future where mind-boggling technology is used with the most malevolent intentions. The series debuted in 2011 with an episode showing how social media is employed to blackmale a White politician into raping a pig. The series sometimes provides the staple racist depictions of black characters: black males obsessed with White Women, crude black rappers, and black criminals and convicts. However, the series also presents the notion of black people using technology to undermine White Power. The days preceeding turkey day were stuffed with handwringing over the pending Trump administration and how much influence the Alt-Right, White Nationalists will wield in the Oval Office. The listing of flagrantly Racist acts directy related to Trump or conspicuously concurrent with his electoral triumph grows exponentially. Former Oklahoma City Police officer and convicted serial rapist Daniel Holtzclaw lost the trial for his freedom. But the caged sexual predator has a congregation of allies who've financed the erection of a billboard suggesting Holtzclaw's innocence. Entertainment icon Kanye West halted a California concert to air his stance on the presidential election and his hypothetical support of Trump. Stoddard regularly reminds readers that the great White Race is the minority on a planet dominated by sexually ravenous dark people. Unfortunately for Stoddard, the "best" stock of Whites are having few kids, which suggests a future with even fewer Whites. We'll see how this relates to President-elect Donald J. Trump's victory.
