The Context of White Supremacy hosts the 4th study session on Randy Roberts' and Johnny Smith's 2016 release, Blood Brothers: The Fatal Friendship Between Muhammad Ali and Malcolm X. The book debuted months before the passing of Ali. Roberts and Smith, both Racist Suspects, investigate the growth and termination of Ali and Minister Malcolm's relationship and how their bond deteriorated as Minister Malcolm's rupture from Elijah Muhammad and the Nation of Islam became permanent. Regrettably, Ali was unable to reconcile things with Malcolm before his 1965 assassination. Last week's session again stressed the gargantuan surveillance apparatus targeting Minister Malcolm and the Nation of Islam. University of Texas (Austin) professor Dr. Martin Kevorkian returns to The C.O.W.S. to dissect the films. Ramona Africa visits The Context of White Supremacy. With decades invested in the effort to counter-racism, Ramona Africa is a veteran member of the MOVE organization. This Philadelphia, Pennsylvania collective worked diligently to combat police terrorism, corruption, pollution and the general war on black people. In 1985, local government officials decided to detonate an incendiary devise that burned down the MOVE house and killed eleven people including children. The blaze ultimately destroyed the entire neighborhood of over 60 black-owned houses. Several MOVE members remain incarcerated to this day. Numerous Whites are calling for prosecuting attorney Marilyn Mosby to be disbarred. As the attention on Racism and policing intensifies, Donald J. Trump was officially recognized as the Republican presidential nominee during the week-long convention in Cleveland. Trump conjured the spirit of former president Richard Nixon with a call for "Law and Order" and an end to "political correctness." Norm Stamper returns to The Context of White Supremacy. Former chief of the Seattle Police Department, Mr. Stamper has almost thirty years experience as an enforcement official in California and Washington state. Since retiring, he devotes his time and energy to police reform and improvement. We've previously reviewed his first book, Breaking Rank: A Top Cop's Exposé of the Dark Side of American Policing. In this book Mr. Stamper testified that he was trained to use his "nigger knocker" to brutalize and arrest black citizens. He also writes openly about White fear of black males - the bigger and darker the black male, the more afraid Whites become. He submits that this fear contributes to many of the lethal encounters black citizens have with law enforcement. Mr. Stamper's second book, To Protect And Serve: How to Fix America's Police, was published this year. He recommends ending the "War on Drugs," demilitarizing police departments, and training to help officers manage their fear. Speaking of the "war on cops," a White man killed two bailiffs in Michigan, and news outlets barely mentioned it - nor did they add it to their rhetoric about the contempt for law enforcement. France endured another terrorist attack, where a truck was driven through a crowd killing more than 80 people. The James Robinson Johnston Chair in Black Canadian Studies, Professor Cooper's research interests are African Canadian studies, with explicit focus on the period of enslavement and emancipation in 18th and 19th century Canada and the Black Atlantic. As White Supremacists never take a vacation from brutalizing black people, Louisiana's Alton Sterling and Minnesota's Philander Castile were gunned down on camera by Race Soldiers. No one has been charged for their respective deaths; social media cranked out fresh hashtags and rhetoric about justice. Much of this was scuttled when a Thursday evening Black Lives Matter protest in Dallas, Texas was interrupted bysniper fire. It was originally reported that multiple shooters fired into the crowd killing five police officers and wounding eleven others - including two civilians. Updated reports indicate that investigators believe Micah Xavier Johnson, a 25-year-old black male, is the sole shooter; officers allegedly killed him with an incendiary device after an extensive shootout. However, alternate reports indicate Johnson died from a self-inflicted gun wound. With so many questions unanswered, many have concluded that President Obama and Black Lives Matter protesters are the culpabale for the mythological "war on cops." It's being alleged that Johnson was "upset with White people," which motivated his calculated attack. Much like the 1963 assassination of John F. Kennedy - which was also in Dallas, this shooting will greatly impact who resides in the White House. Washington's extraordinary text, Medical Apartheid: The Dark History Of Medical Experimentation On Black Americans From Colonial Times To Present. Washington's astounding research documents intentional, calculated plunder of black bodies under the guise of "science." Washington's book should permanently recalibrate black people's interpretation of the scientific developments of whitefolks - like the "crispr" gene editing technology and DNA tracing websites that stockpile genetic material. Last week's session emphasized how black people have been disproportionately and continuously confined as a perceived health risk. She contrasts this with the treatment of White gay males during the genesis of the AIDS crisis in the 1980's; their medical rights were honored and protected. Stephen Jimenez visits The Context of White Supremacy. A writer, author and gay male, Mr. Jimenez investigated the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard. Shepard was a White male college student who was brutally murdered by Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson. McKinney and Henderson were convicted and both received life sentences without possibility for parole. Shepard's death was originally reported - and continues to be discussed - as a barbaric "hate crime," another victim in the "war on gays." The federal "Hate Crime" bill is eponimously named in honor of him. Jimenez's 2013 publication, The Book Of Matt, challenges this conclusion with more than a decade of research. He submits that many people who knew Shepard were aware that he had a serious drug problem; some suspect that he also trafficked narcotics. Jimenez also reports that Shepard knew one of his assailants, McKinney - who was also a drug addict and distributor. The book's main theory is that Shepard was not killed because he was gay, and that this murder was not a "hate crime." Cathy Dang visits The Context of White Supremacy. As the Executive Director of Committee Against Anti-Asian Violence (CAAAV), Ms. Dang has lead campaigns for just living and working conditions in immigrant and communities of color for nearly ten years. She has dedicated years of her life to community organizing in immigrant communities. Ms. Dang and CAAAV have been deeply involved with the 2014 shooting death of Akai Gurley. The unarmed black male was shot and killed by a Chinese-American NYPD officer, Peter Liang. Earlier this year, Liang was convicted of manslaughter, but was not sentenced to jail time. Thousands of Asian Americans across the country launched massive protests in support of Peter Liang, suggesting that he was being scapegoated and was also a victim. Ms. Dang has consistently asserted that Liang should be held accountable for killing a US citizen. No Stanford alumnus has sparked this much commotion since NFL cornerback Richard Sherman. The kerffufle is rather curious because it's standard operating procedure for White people to receive less harsh sentences. In contrast to Mr. Turner, Davonte Sanford, an illiterate black teen who's blind in one eye, was wrongfully convicted of a quadruple murder and sentenced to 37 to 90 years behind bars. Dr. Melissa N. Stein visits The Context of White Supremacy. An assistant professor in the Gender and Womenâ??s Studies Department at the University of Kentucky, Dr. Stein's research interests include African American history and women's/gender history. On his last trip to The C.O.W.S., Dr. Tommy Curry highly recommended Dr. Stein's first book, Measuring Manhood: Race and the Science of Masculinity, 1830-1934. The text highlights how humanity and citizenship were defined in terms of White manhood. Consequently, black males and females were judged as defective men and women and deserving of enslavement and White domination. Dr. Stein documents how White scientists compiled an array of statistics and tabulations that demonstrated the inferiority of black people - heads were too tiny, genitalia too big. Dr. Stein also examines how sexuality was defined within a context of White Supremacy. White sexual deviance was racial suicide that threatened reproduction. Suspected Race Soldier Chester Thompson was convicted of misconduct, not rape. In nnother illustration of the swell relationship between black females and the police, a San Francisco police officer shot and killed a 27-year-old black female; this was the latest controversy involving San Fransisco policing and resulted in the resignation of Police Chief Greg Suhr.
