The Context of White Supremacy hosts our monthly Global Sunday Talk On Racism. This program is engineered to encourage participation from Victims of Racisms beyond the United States and/or non-white people who are unable to dial-in during our typical broadcast time. Our November broadcast was just days after the reported terrorist attacks in Paris, France. Many of our international listeners in Europe provided astute observations and predictions on how these events would be used to reinforce White Supremacy. We're eager to hear views thirty days after the slaughter. We'll also investigate the international outlook on the presidential candidacy of Donald Trump; Dr. Frances Cress Welsing predicts he will be the next person to occupy the White House. We also hope to process German Chancellor Angela Merkel being awarded TIME's Person of the Year. Many White Germans have enthusiastically chided her for welcoming too many non-white "refugees." A week after Daniel Holtzclaw was found guilty in Oklahoma, the first of six trials against the Baltimore, Maryland officers accused of killing Freddie Gray concluded in a mistrial. There's no indication on when - or if - a re-trial will be scheduled or how this will influence the five remaining trials. In Chicago, Illinois Suspected Race Soldier Jason Van Dyke was indicted for the murder of 17-year-old Laquan MacDonald; he'll be arraigned later this month. Whites are offering heaps of rhetoric about improving the criminal justice system as a result of these cases; in New York they agreed to reform the practice of solitary confinement - they did not commit to eliminating this custom. Beyond their highfalutin words, pathological White patterns and practices remain. A Northern California prison was indicted for an "entrenched culture" of Racism and violence that one victim described as having a "KKK... feeling". On a good note, Serena Williams was branded the 2015 Sportsperson of the Year by Sports Illustrated. Many White Supremacists were disgusted that the black tennis titan won the award over a horse. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the second study session on Edward Baptist's 2014 publication, The Half Has Never Been Told: Slavery And The Making Of American Capitalism. Baptist, a White Man, wrote this book to center the enslavement and torture of black bodies as the foundation and central economic enterprise of America. He contends that the shackling and forced labor of black people was not an inefficient industrial system nor would it have come to a natural conclusion on its own. The book chapters are named after body parts to signal how the White slave system represented total war on black bodies. The Economist delivered a stinging review of the text, charged that "Mr Baptist has not written an objective history of slavery. Almost all the blacks in his book are victims, almost all the whites villains." They ultimately apologized and withdrew their review. Last week's installment detailed how slavery is regularly diluted and distanced from the methodical cruelty against black people it rewarded. Gwen Ragsdale returns to The Context of White Supremacy. Mrs. Ragsdale and her husband created the Lest We Forget Black Holocaust Slavery Museum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The museum is dedicated to making certain that the legacy of slavery be told accurately and to increase awareness of the impact of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade. In addition to producing an award-winning documentary film (My Slave Sister, Myself), Mrs. Ragsdale wrote a novel covering the historical relationship between black females and White Women, Peculiar Relationships. The fictional account extends from the plantation era of slavery to modern times. There are several representations of well-intentioned, "good" White Women alongside cruel, despotic damsels. He was found guilty on four of six first-degree rape counts, and the all white jury recommended nearly 3 centuries of prison time. He'll be sentenced on January 21st. While black females struggle to safegaurd their bodies and lives, Abigail Fisher, a White Woman, continues her assault on "affirmative action" at the Supreme Court. This is the second time the highest court in the land is adjudicating this case. Justice Antonin Scalia suggested that black scholars avoid high caliber academic institutions and stick to a slower, "less-advanced school," more accommodating to puny negro intellect. Speaking of institutions to avoid, Charleston, South Carolina's Citadel has again been accused of Racism. Nearly a dozen White students wore "costumes" resembling the Klu Klux Klan. There are calls for the school's president to resign and for federal funding to be withdrawn. The shooting minimized attention on gun-toting Race Soldier Jason Van Dyke - who was released from a Chicago jail after expeditiously posting $150,000 bond. Van Dyke is charged with first degree murder for the 2014 shooting of Laquan McDonald. While many comtested the definition of terrorism and what type of violence should be branded as such, this week marked the 60th anniversary of Rosa Parks' counter-terrorist offensive on a Montgomery, Alabama bus. Unfortunately, Parks' Alabama has remained staunchly devoted to terrorizing black citizens, evidenced by the Alabama Justice Project's charge that enforcement officials and prosecutors conspired to plant drugs on and incarcerate innocent black citizens for decades. And echoing much of Rosa Parks' work against the sexual violation of black females, the Daniel Holtzclaw trial wrapped it's 5th week; Holtzclaw is facing 36 counts of sexual tyranny against 13 black females. This 2015 text received the National Book Award for nonfiction and made President Obama's summer reading list. On top of the cacophony of accolades, Coates seized a 2015 MacArthur Genius Award and continues to rouse commentary for his 2014 analysis of reparations. Coates' work was published early in response to Dylann Roof's Terrorist assault in Charleston, South Carolina. Our first session revealed Coates comprehensive grasp of the history of White Supremacy. He shares intimate details on his black childhood and formative years at Howard University. Coates offers this text as a letter to his fifteen-year-old son. The gunmen are Suspected White Supremacists, and CBS reports that charges are pending against four men. A local NAACP representative alleges that the Minneapolis Police Department may be directly or indirectly involved in this act of domestic terrorism. Concurrently, a Suspected Race Soldier was charged with first degree murder in the 2014 shooting death of Laquan McDonald. Television networks were again broadcast looped footage of a black teen being gunned down in the street. The Daniel Holtzclaw trial entered the fourth week, and it still seems that the black female victims are the presumed violators. Tariq Nasheed returns to investigate this grisly, racist series. Mr. Nasheed is the creator of the tremmendously successful Hidden Colors documentary series. His films have aided legions of non-white people around the world gain a better understanding of Racism. We'll scrutinize the depiction of black characters in the wildly popular AMC franchise and why this series has attracted such a mammoth following. Even in an apocalyptic world overrun with zombies (niggers), a gun-toting White cop (Rick Grimes) is in charge. We'll review the portrayal of black female characters Michonne and Sasha, who are subservient to and abandoned by Whites. The show has employed a myriad of black characters during its six years on air, and even they have been forced to deny that The Walking Dead is Racist. Grace Franklin returns to The Context of White Supremacy. Ms. Franklin is a founding member of OKC Artists For Justice. She visited with us in the spring of 2015 to hightlight the case of alleged sexual terrorist and former Oklahoma City enforcement officer, Daniel Holtzclaw. Holtzclaw was arrested in August of 2014 and is charged with 36 counts of sexual assaults exclusively targeting black females. Even with all of the bevy of attention on police terrorism against black people, this case has been widely tuned out. Ms. Franklin and colleagues have worked tirelessly to bring attention to this case, while insisting that black mothers, black sisters and black daughters be valued and protected. Documentary filmmaker, professor and journalist June Cross visits The Context of White Supremacy. She uses her skill to "tell stories about the people other people think don't matter." She's a tenured professor at the Columbia Journalism School and produced a large body of fine work with PBS' NewsHour. We'll investigate her 2009 documentary, The Old Man And The Storm. She narrates the extraordinary story of the the Gettridge family. Cross and many other media outlets met Herbert Gettridge when he was 82-years-old and amongst the debris of the epic catastrophe of Hurricane Katrina and the levee failure. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the 4th study session on Gary Rivlin's Katrina: After The Flood. Mr. Rivlin is a White man; while working for the New York Times he reported on the historic engineering failure and negligence that devastated New Orleans in August of 2005. His 2015 bestseller looks at ten years of asymmetrical "recovery." To be explicit, a decade of black New Orleanians being racially dislocated and intentionally impeded from reconstructing their lives. Rivlin probes all areas of people activity: the institution of charter schools, the destruction of public housing, and outright looting of resources designated for flood victims. Last week's session provided critical information on the history of White Terrorism in New Orleans, including the "construction of I-10 through the center of Treme" - one of the oldest black neighborhoods in the country. He was shackled, ejected from school and suspected of terrorist activities for bringing a homemade clock to school; teachers alleged the time piece was "suspicious in nature." The University of Missouri Student Body President Payton Head spoke honestly about the racial terrorism he's experienced as a college scholar - which nearly caused him to drop out of school. Her academic interests include intersectionality, gender and women's studies, and African-American studies. Many listeners saw Ms. Herron's recent piece at the Washington Post - "I dated a man who was looking for all-black everything." She details her romance with a charming young White man she'd known since she was a teen. They met years later and began "dating." After a period of time, a few arguments, and odd conduct, Ms. Herron concluded that this White man was Racist. His dating habits evidenced an insatiable fetish for non-white females.
