Two White officers who corroborated Tensing's initial - and false - account will not be punished. Crowdfunding sites soliciting donations for Tensing's have allegedly been shutdown. In the wake of suspicious death of Sandra Bland, black and non-white females continue to die under peculiar circumstances in police custody. He reminisced about his involvement in the murder and torture of black citizens and inspired White Supremacist legal codes across the country. The June 17th Terrorist assault on Mother Emanuel A.M.E. placed an gigantic spotlight South Carolina. Mr. Kantrowitz knows that we're studying his work and emailed Gus his most recent report on Mr. Tillman. His deconstruction of Tillman's career as a South Carolina lawmaker is that, "Tillman bent over backwards to make sure his policies benefited as few African Americans as possible." While black folks are criminalized for breathing, another White man went on a shooting spree, this time in Louisiana where four people were killed. As Whites slaughter and black people die en route to and in the confines of jail, President Obama made what could be his final visit to the continent as commander and chief. In a manner yet to be determined, Ware died in police custody after being pepper sprayed and arrested. Some of the Tuscaloosa officers were wearing body cameras, but they failed to record significant moments of Ware's detainment. Chapman, 18, was arrested for taking a cellphone. She reportedly hung herself within hours of being booked. Chapman's death was simultaneous with the similarly reported death of Sandra Bland. Texas officers arrested Bland, who promptly reported concerns for her safety and officer abuse. Shortly there after, she is alleged to have hung herself. One of the involved officers, Sheriff Glenn Smith, was previously fired from a Texas police department amid accusations of Racism. President Barack Obama became the first sitting president to tour a federal prison; at an NAACP convention this week, he echoed that, "African Americans are more likely to be arrested. They are more likely to be sentenced to more time for the same crime... [and] around one in nine African American kids has a parent in prison." Dr. Chenjerai Kumanyika visits The Context of White Supremacy. Dr. Kumanyika is an artist, scholar and assistant professor in Clemson University's department of communication studies. He also holds a professorship in the College of Architecture, Art and Humanities. He recently articulated his participation at a Charleston vigil for the victims of the Mother Emanuel A.M.E. church. The congregation was asked to take the hand of the person standing next to him. He was seated next to a White woman and couldn't bring himself to extend a hand. He described being unable to shake the feeling that: "When black people and white people clasped hands in the arena that night, the comfort wouldn't be evenly distributed. Andrew Guilford visits The Context of White Supremacy. Mr. Guilford is a Texas resident and a black male. He came to Gus' attention following a clash with the now infamous McKinney Police Department. He and his friend, Prezell Oliver, were thrown to ground and shackled by White enforcement officers. The Suspected Race Soldiers originally said that the two were under arrest, but ultimately no charges were filed. Officers defended their aggressive behavior based on the 9-11 call requesting their presence. "Police said a woman called claiming one of the men was going to shoot her and police." This mysterious woman is White and the alleged ex-girlfriend of one of the black males. Guilford claims that this White Woman came to their residence to "stir up trouble." Dr. Lucy Michael and Dr. Fidele Mutwarasibo visit The Context of White Supremacy. Dr. Michael is an Admitted Racist. She's a sociology lecturer at the University of Ulster; her research focuses on race and ethnicity, minority experiences of crime and victimisation, and leadership around equality issues. Dr. Mutwarasibo was born in Rwanda and moved to Ireland in 1995. He earned a PhD in sociology, is a founding member of the Africa Centre, and a member of the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission. He's conducted substantial research on immigrants' rights and racism against non-white people seeking refuge in Ireland. Dr. Lucy suggested we invite Dr. Mutwarasibo on the program. This summer's "fireworks" have been confined to black houses of worship, as more than a half dozen churches have been burned; none have been ruled acts of Racism (hate crimes), but several have been deemed acts of arson. The blazes have generated much less attention than the removal of "Dukes of Hazzard" - a television show canceled 30 years ago - and all things resembling the Confederate flag. Whites have decreed Bree Newsome their official "black friend" of the month. Last week, Newsome and her "White ally" removed the Confederate flag from the South Carolina state Capitol. She was quickly shackled and jailed, the flag was immediately replaced, and Riley Curry was no longer Whites' favorite black person. Rhodes College professor Zandria Robinson did not receive the same reverence for her critique of Whitefolks. She's the president of the St. Louis Association of Black Psychologists and has been counseling black Ferguson residents since the police killing of Michael Brown Jr. When she visited us in December, she explained that an important aspect of the healing involved confronting the reality of Racism/White Power. We look forward to hearing an update on the mental health of black St. Louis residents. Beryl Satter visits The Context of White Supremacy. Dr. Satter is a professor of history at Rutgers University in New Jersey, and her work was rewarded with a 2015 Guggenheim Grant. We'll examine her 2009 publication: Family Properties: Race, Real Estate and the Exploitation of Black Urban America. Ta-Nehisi Coates referenced this text in his prominently discussed analysis of why black people should be granted immense compensation for the terrorism Whites have subjected us to. Satter provides a comprehensive, blistering indictment of White real estate practices which restricted Chicago's black housing to horrendous areas with poor services and astronomical insurance rates. Black people were financially raped for the privilege of living in squalor; the Federal Housing Administration refused to issue home loans for black people. Cleveland, Ohio residents salivate over a possible return to the NBA Finals while simultaneously preparing for potential melees in response to the Michael Brelo verdict; Brelo is the lone Cleveland officer facing criminal charges for a 2012 shooting that left two unarmed black people dead and at least 137 shots fired. Ferguson smoldered in response to Michael Brown Jr.'s killing, there's been far less attention and rage for the alleged horrors of Homer G. Phillips Hospital. Black St. Louis mothers charge that they were given false information that their children died during the delivery process only for their babies to be stolen and sold. With no answers for Freddie Gray's death and Baltimore, Maryland in flames, the counsel of El Hajj Malik El Shabazz would be appreciated. 50yrs. years ago, Minister Malcolm foretold a year of violent eruptions in response to White Terrorism. 2015 and 1965 have many similarities. Last week's session described Minister Malcolm's return to the United States. He stressed that he no longer branded all Whites as Racist; his travels abroad revealed that there were White Muslims who did not oppose Justice, black people. His impending murder infects the last chapters of the text, where Min. Malcolm acknowledges the closeness of death. Alex Haley provided insightful post-script details as well. The UC Berkeley Black Student Union visits The Context of White Supremacy. These Bay Area black scholars drafted a list of 10 demands "to improve conditions of black students on campus." Chancellor Nicholas Dirks ultimately responded to their stipulations by "[removing] his office from the responsibility to implement solutions." The undeterred students directed a large protest on Saturday, April 18th. They shutdown Sather Gate to illustrate the Racist academic environment black students are subjected to. Relatives of Oscar Grant were present. These rebellious scholars linked the White Power that governs their prestigious university to the White Power that extinguishes the lives of Rekia Boyd, Miriam Carey, Kenneth Harding, Jr. and many more. They've asked that a building on campus be renamed for former Black Panther and "wanted terrorist" Assata Shakur.
