Speaking of dangerous negroes, in Michigan a number of black citizens armed themselves to provide security for state representative Sarah Anthony (Dem). Last week, dozens of armed Whites invaded the state capital to intimidate lawmakers and make known their violent opposition to the stay at home orders.In the midst of global death and economics devastation, entertainment legend Andre Harrell died at the age of 59. A C.O.W.S. listeners inquired about the PayCheck Protection Program (PPP). This is a part of the U.S. responses, ostensibly to supports small businesses entrepreneurs. Significantly, black businesses around the country report being denied and ignored in attempts to get financial help. Our listener said that her employer told her that she should apply for the PPP program. They want to guarantee her hours and salary over the next few weeks of the pandemic. However, part of the program stipulates that employees may be rehired for their regular hours and salay, but they may be reassigned to alternate duties. our listener indicated that they wanted to transition her to dish-washing - a position she already declined. Gus encouraged that she read all the details about the PPP. One important rule of this program stipulates: "Employees and employers should be aware that employees who reject offers of re-employment may forfeit eligibility for continued unemployment compensation." Gus T. Renegade describes being terrorized by a White man for checking the mailbox. With a key for the mailbox at the house where I'm allowed to reside, I thought I could lazily collect my packages and go about my business. A Racist Suspect in a black jeep parked next to the mailbox and changed everything. This White man made no effort to introduce or identify himself and immediately assumed Gus T. was some sort of criminal mastermind out looting mailboxes. I'll detail how I handled this situation - which may not be the best way to handle these sort of random confrontations. We'll also emphasize how dangerous Whites are. Thousands of Whites across the country stormed the streets to demand that they be allowed to return to work, defying shelter in place orders with signs reading: "Sacrifice the weak." In Georgia, Governor Brian Kemp allowed important businesses (tattoo parlors and barber shops) to re-open in Georgia. The Mayor of Atlanta, Keisha Lance Bottoms, cautioned residents of her city to remain at home in spite of the governor's proclamation. The mayor and her child were subjected to racist texts and demands that she re-open the city. Commander in chief Donald J. Trump failed to inspire confidence when he suggested that "injection" of some sort of disinfectant may be help stop Covid-19. He also described using "ultraviolet or just a very powerful light" to hit the body. This appalling lack of scientific logic has fueled substantial skepticism, protests, and reckless disregard for the spread of the coronavirus. In fact, a number of C.O.W.S. listeners have concluded there is no coronavirus, masks are "ridiculous," and there's no need to follow recommendations about social distancing or sheltering in place. The coronavirus changed everything. Seemingly days after many around the world joked that black people are immune to "the rona," an avalanche of reports announced that black people in the U.S. are dying at alarming numbers from the so-called coronavirus. The history and continued practice of #MedicalAprtheid, abusing and experimenting on black patients, is one theory to explain the high number of fatalities. But obesity, cigarette smoking, high blood pressure, diabetes and a host of other diet-related health problems seem to be correlated with a higher risk of dying from the coronavirus. An environmental epidemiologist, environmental engineer and environmental historian, Dr. Washington is Chief Environmental Research Scientist at Environmental Health Research Associates, LLC. With research experience examining the impact of industrial pollution on human health and ecosystems, she's the creator and editor-in-chief of the first international environmental health disparities journal, Environmental Justice. We'll continue examining her 2004 text, Packing Them In: An Archaeology of Environmental Racism in Chicago, 1865-1954. Chicago is a significant city in North America, and black people have sojourned to this region for over a century. Consequently, Whites have devoted a staggering amount of time, energy and resources to study, warehouse, terrorize and poison the black people of the "windy city." During last week's session Dr. Hood described the great migration of the late 19th and 20th century. Legions of black people labored to escape terrorism in the south and migrated to western and northern cities like Chicago. Consequently, northern Racists studied and terrorized black newcomers. In Chicago - and elsewhere - black people were regarded as a medical menace. Whites claimed black people were a vector for disease to contaminate pure Whites. The Context of White Supremacy examines the Confronting White Nationalism In Schools toolkit. This report was published by the Western States Center and authored by a group of White Women educators, Nora Flanagan, Jessica Acee, and Lindsay Schubiner. An environmental epidemiologist, environmental engineer and environmental historian, Dr. Washington is Chief Environmental Research Scientist at Environmental Health Research Associates, LLC. With research experience examining the impact of industrial pollution on human health and ecosystems, she's the creator and editor-in-chief of the first international environmental health disparities journal, Environmental Justice. We'll continue examining her 2004 text, Packing Them In: An Archaeology of Environmental Racism in Chicago, 1865-1954. Chicago is a significant city in North America, and black people have sojourned to this region for over a century. Consequently, Whites have devoted a staggering amount of time, energy and resources to study, warehouse, terrorize and poison the black people of the "windy city." During last week's session we heard additional information about how numerous "white ethnics" banded together to stop the pollution and poisoning of their neighborhoods. Importantly, once these immigrants were accepted as White, they moved to White enclaves with substantially fewer toxins to protest. Dr. Washington also described the years of White squabbling about over "Bubbly Creek" - a Chicago water way that's suffered so much pollution the water has literally percolated with poison and contaminants for a century. A Detroit, Michigan journalist and author, Clark was a Fulbright fellow in Nairobi, Kenya, and a Knight-Wallace journalism fellow at the University of Michigan, and she was awarded the Excellence in Environmental Journalism award from the Great Lakes Environmental Law Council. We'll discuss her 2018 publication The Poisoned City, which investigates the years of deception and suffering of the Flint, Michigan lead poisoning. The predominantly black Michigan city attempted to alert White officials for years to the unsafe and hazardous water conditions. They were ignored, rebuffed and lied to. Years after the name "Flint" has become globally synonymous with lead-poisoned water, no one has been held criminally liable for the catastrophe and it's still controversial as to whether or not the water is safe to drink. Adding insult to injury, the 2020 global coronavirus has resulted in unprecedented measures to ensure the health and well-being of all citizens. This includes a halt to evictions in numerous regions around the planet, as well as a halt to water shutoffs. White officials have devised all manner of imaginative schemes to ensure that everyone has access to water.
