Following the so called holiday weekend, the violence escalated. In fact, a black male, Vauhxx Booker, in Indiana visited a park to enjoy nature. He encountered a mob of White Men and Women who assaulted Booker, pinned him to a tree and beckoned for a noose. Days later, protesters gathers in disgust over the attempted lynching, and a car plowed into the crowd. At least one pedestrian was injured. In North Carolina, a black mother reported a pair of armed White men in 'Make America Great Again' hats threatened she and her children. One good thing about the rona is that is disrupted a lot of July 4th festivities, so many of us could avoid the office bbq or workplace picnic. Besides that, Covid-19 continues to disrupt and close businesses around the world. One key area of labor, is education. If schools are unable to open in the fall, a huge number of educators and academic staff could be in economic free fall. Additionally, if schools are closed to children, parents who are employed will have hefty concerns about the indefinite supervision of their offspring. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes the return of Christopher Everett. We previously discussed his fantastic documentary film, Wilmington On Fire, which examines the 1898 White Supremacist coup in Wilmington, North Carolina. Whites plotted to disrupt a peaceful "fusion" government, where black people owned property had attorneys and doctors and enjoyed a relatively harmonious life. Using the threat of black rapists, White militias killed an untold number of black people, looted their property, and banished them from the area without compensation. We revisit this topic after three Wilmington enforcement officers, Kevin Piner, James "Brian" Gilmore, and Corporal Jessie Moore, were terminated after video surfaced of them making racist comments. To be blunt, Piner described plans to acquire an assault rifle "to go out and start slaughtering them f------ n------." The White officer didn't talk about killing one or 5 black people. "Wipe 'em off the f------ map," said Piner, adding: "That’ll put 'em back about four or five generations." These Whites also held grievances against newly hired police chief, who happens to be black. The rona and protests over Racism have effectively neutralized the annual summer madness. Fireworks celebrations have been canceled or greatly scaled back. However, the absence of fire in the sky doesn't mean a lack of smoke in the streets. It's challenging to count the number of incidents of armed Whites in public over the past 7 days. Whites in Texas protested Covid-19 restrictions with banners proclaiming: "Bar Lives Matter." In Michigan, an armed White Woman held a black mother and child at gun point after a dispute in a public parking area. In Kansas City, Missouri, Mayor Quinton Lucas was threatened with a lynching after order citizens to wear face masks in public. In fact, gun rights advocate Lauren Boebert defeated five-term incumbent Rep. Scott Tipton. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly forum on Neutralizing Workplace Racism. 4th of July weekend commences this weekend, but now more than ever, there is nothing to celebrate. Covid-19 is reportedly surging in numerous states across the U.S., which has resulted in a number of businesses having to close again. Face masks are now required in a growing number of U.S. states, and this is has caused brawls, confrontations and enough conflict that some businesses closed down again. We discuss how workers are adapting to the wackiness of these times. One thing all these disruptions have done is cancel another holiday. 4th of July celebrations have been canceled outright or tremendously scaled down, so non-white workers should avoid unnecessary functions or jamborees associated with this date on the calendar. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Dr. Gerald Horne. The Moores Professorship of History and African American Studies at the University of Houston, Dr. Horne investigates "issues of racism in a variety of relations involving labor, politics, civil rights, international relations and war." We recently read his biography on COINTELPRO victim and friend of Albert Einstein, Paul Robeson. Dr. Horne's work seemed to highlight the enormous surveillance that Robeson was under because of his intellect and his potential to counter-racism. Dr. Horne has written a wealth of material of White Supremacy, so we'll also discuss his 1995 publication, Fire this Time: The Watts Uprising and the 1960s. The System of White Supremacy guarantees riots against the police killing of black people. Covid-19 continues to menace the planet - with reported infections rising again in a number of U.S. cities. Wearing masks remains a controversial request and work environments continue to adjust. Protests against the System of White Supremacy and police terrorism are also ongoing, and this has also forced a number of work environments to make changes. We'll discuss children's prospects for "summer jobs," when a number of reports indicate these positions may be eliminated or greatly reduced because of the virus. We'll encourage listeners to monitor their stress levels in the workplace. With this year's relentless barrage of stress and confusion, many of us managing anxiety as best we can and without our normal levels of patience. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes the return of Dr. Martin Kevorkian. A University of Texas Austin professor of English, Dr. Kevorkian authored the 2009 text, Color Monitors: The Blackface of Technology in America. The main theme of the text is that films and narratives like The Matrix and The Terminator franchises are metaphors for White anxiety about a loss of power to non-white people. Dr. Kevorkian has visited The C.O.W.S. many times over the years to dissect White Supremacist components to many films. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, many folks around the world have had more time to binge watch content. we selected a fresh batch of offerings. The recent protests against Racism and police killings of black people lifted The Hate U Give (book and film) back to relevance. It's daily cited as a work to help parents explain the current racial crisis to children. Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo (1984) is also referenced daily, although not as a tool to explain racial oppression. This 80's rap musical is cited constantly to help explain the "boogaloo" - a term used by a segment of White Supremacists to describe civil unrest and a failure of police and government systems. A number of Race Soldiers use the threat of an apocalyptic boogaloo to motivate gun and weapon stockpiling as well as combat training. Color Monitors spends a significant amount of time on Arnold Schwarzenegger's Terminator, so we'll see if last year's release, Terminator: Dark Fate, fits his analysis for the previous films in the series. The latest installment is set in Mexico, and features machines and White people risking their existence to save a Mexican female. Finally, we'll revisit the Netflix Black Mirror series. If this week is any indication, it will be a so-called "long hot summer" of ongoing protests and increased White Supremacist violence against black people. Another black male was killed by police, this time Atlanta's Rayshard Brooks. Later in the week, Robert Fuller's half-brother, Terron Jammal Boone, was reportedly killed in a gun battle with California enforcement officers. Fuller's Palmdale, California hanging death is still under investigation and viewed with logical suspicion. The ongoing protests have launched congressional chats on police reforms, the toppling of a number of confederate statues, and the termination of Aunt Jemima syrup and pancake mix. The stereotypical image of a black female was used to hawk diabetic concoctions for over 125 years. In one bright spot, the White-dominated LGBTG movement nabbed another victory from the U.S. Supreme Court, where justices rules that the 1964 Civil Rights Act protects LGBTQ employees. The coronavirus changed everything. Seemingly days after many around the world joked that black people are immune to "the rona," an avalanche of reports announced that black people in the U.S. are dying at alarming numbers from the so-called coronavirus. The history and continued practice of #MedicalAprtheid, abusing and experimenting on black patients, is one theory to explain the high number of fatalities. But obesity, cigarette smoking, high blood pressure, diabetes and a host of other diet-related health problems seem to be correlated with a higher risk of dying from the coronavirus. The current health crisis demanded that we open Dr. Afrika's work immediately. Unfortunately, the book is rife with errors, misprints, name-calling, dubious claims unsupported by evidence, and is generally unworthy of being read. Listeners who met Dr. Afrika personally have unflinchingly supported he and his work - ignoring or minimizing the countless typos, poor logic and antiblackness throughout the text. Last week's section was particularly unhelpful, as much of chapter 6 is a motley collection of charts, sentence fragments, and lists. A 3rd generation physician, author, general and child psychiatrist, Dr. Welsing dedicated her life energy to our cosmic assignment: Replacing White Supremacy With Justice. Black people on both continents have suffered greatly from the virus, White Supremacist medical practices, and misinformation around the the health crisis. Now, demonstrations across the country mark the latest black male to be killed by enforcement officers. Minnesota's George Floyd was killed by Suspected Race Soldier Derek Chauvin. The now-terminated White officer was arrested and charged this week with Floyd's murder. The protests in Minnesota escalated, one person was reportedly shot. In Kentucky, marches recognizing the murder of Breonna Taylor were disrupted by gunfire. Seven people were shot. Atlanta and numerous other cities have also experienced major disruptions. Dr. Afrika is an internationally acclaimed author, naturopathic healer, certified acupuncturist, nutrition counselor and addictionologist. His surprising death in March of this year saddened and stunned many. He was 74. We were scheduled to read Dr. Afrika's work at some point this year, but there was no urgency to select a time. The coronavirus changed everything. Seemingly days after many around the world joked that black people are immune to "the rona," an avalanche of reports announced that black people in the U.S. are dying at alarming numbers from the so-called coronavirus. The history and continued practice of #MedicalAprtheid, abusing and experimenting on black patients, is one theory to explain the high number of fatalities. A North Carolina family with young children was accosted by a gang of armed Whites. These Suspected Race Soldiers reportedly had a rocket launcher. A separate Racist Suspect approached the victims brandishing a massive pipe wrench. In a separate North Carolina incident, WECT News reports an attempted black family was terrorized by a gang of Racists. The Racist mob allegedly included an off-duty member of the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, J.T. Kita. In the midst of the ongoing necrophilia and gawking over the death of Georgia Ahmaud Arbery, the same gruesome spectacle is now focused on Kentucky EMT Breanna Taylor. Enforcement officers killed Taylor, 26, in her own home in March of this year. In the midst of all of this black death, daily reports continue to announce the toll the virus is exacting on black people. Brazil, which has the highest population of black people in the western hemisphere, is currently experiencing a sharp increase in cases of the virus.
