We'll discuss his 1970 global top-seller, White Dog - which is allegedly based on actual events. The book centers on a white German shepherd Gary finds while visiting the United States. The vagrant canine is beloved by Gary's entire family and treated as part of the clan. But Gary quickly notices the hound becomes hostile and immediately attacks when black people appear. During last week's session, Gary continues to castigate Stokely Carmichael. This critique is is literally hours and days following the assassination of Dr. King. Gary fails to offer insight on King's - other than insisting that black riffraff like Carmichael taunted King as a sellout and "Uncle Tom." The GOP stalwart died this at the age of 74. He reportedly had complications related to the coronavirus. As protests against White Supremacy and police terrorism continue across the country, NPR reported that "street wars" are possible between armed demonstrators and enforcement officials. A historian at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, Dr. Parry is an expert on colonization of the Americas, the African diaspora, and the historical memory of slavery in the United States. Even though his phenotypical features confused Gus and several listeners, Dr. Parry is classified as White - and married to a black female. We'll discuss his fascinating research on White Supremacists use of dogs to terrorize and control black bodies. He co-authored the report, Slave Hounds and Abolition in the Americas. The project explores how breeding dogs to track and maul black people became booming businesses throughout the world during slavery. He contextualizes the historical use of dogs to patrol slave plantations with the current use of canine police units, which often serves the same purpose - control of black bodies. Trump ordered federal troops into Oregon to coral unlawful Whites roiling the streets in the name of George Floyd and "systemic racism." Troops are descending on Chicago, Illinois next where they always have reports of ceaseless gun violence. Speaking of gun violence, a White St. Louis Missouri couple has been charged for brandishing firearms at protesters earlier this summer. Things have deteriorated to the point that in the midst of an unprecedented global health pandemic, the Centers for Disease Control is not able to focus on vaccines and life-saving information. Following the so called holiday weekend, the violence escalated. In fact, a black male, Vauhxx Booker, in Indiana visited a park to enjoy nature. He encountered a mob of White Men and Women who assaulted Booker, pinned him to a tree and beckoned for a noose. Days later, protesters gathers in disgust over the attempted lynching, and a car plowed into the crowd. At least one pedestrian was injured. In North Carolina, a black mother reported a pair of armed White men in 'Make America Great Again' hats threatened she and her children. If schools are unable to open in the fall, a huge number of educators and academic staff could be in economic free fall. Additionally, if schools are closed to children, parents who are employed will have hefty concerns about the indefinite supervision of their offspring. This text, published in 2005 collects an array of Einstein's writings on the Racism he observed here in the U.S. Having migrated to North America from Hitler's Nazi Germany, Einstein contrasted the System of Racial Terror here to what was happening across the pond in Europe. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes the return of Christopher Everett. We previously discussed his fantastic documentary film, Wilmington On Fire, which examines the 1898 White Supremacist coup in Wilmington, North Carolina. Whites plotted to disrupt a peaceful "fusion" government, where black people owned property had attorneys and doctors and enjoyed a relatively harmonious life. Using the threat of black rapists, White militias killed an untold number of black people, looted their property, and banished them from the area without compensation. We revisit this topic after three Wilmington enforcement officers, Kevin Piner, James "Brian" Gilmore, and Corporal Jessie Moore, were terminated after video surfaced of them making racist comments. To be blunt, Piner described plans to acquire an assault rifle "to go out and start slaughtering them f------ n------." The White officer didn't talk about killing one or 5 black people. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly forum on Neutralizing Workplace Racism. 4th of July weekend commences this weekend, but now more than ever, there is nothing to celebrate. Covid-19 is reportedly surging in numerous states across the U.S., which has resulted in a number of businesses having to close again. Face masks are now required in a growing number of U.S. states, and this is has caused brawls, confrontations and enough conflict that some businesses closed down again. We discuss how workers are adapting to the wackiness of these times. The Moores Professorship of History and African American Studies at the University of Houston, Dr. Horne investigates "issues of racism in a variety of relations involving labor, politics, civil rights, international relations and war." Covid-19 continues to menace the planet - with reported infections rising again in a number of U.S. cities. Wearing masks remains a controversial request and work environments continue to adjust. Protests against the System of White Supremacy and police terrorism are also ongoing, and this has also forced a number of work environments to make changes. We'll discuss children's prospects for "summer jobs," when a number of reports indicate these positions may be eliminated or greatly reduced because of the virus. A University of Texas Austin professor of English, Dr. Kevorkian authored the 2009 text, Color Monitors: The Blackface of Technology in America. The main theme of the text is that films and narratives like The Matrix and The Terminator franchises are metaphors for White anxiety about a loss of power to non-white people. Dr. Kevorkian has visited The C.O.W.S. many times over the years to dissect White Supremacist components to many films. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, many folks around the world have had more time to binge watch content. we selected a fresh batch of offerings. The recent protests against Racism and police killings of black people lifted The Hate U Give (book and film) back to relevance. It's daily cited as a work to help parents explain the current racial crisis to children. Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo (1984) is also referenced daily, although not as a tool to explain racial oppression. This 80's rap musical is cited constantly to help explain the "boogaloo" - a term used by a segment of White Supremacists to describe civil unrest and a failure of police and government systems. A number of Race Soldiers use the threat of an apocalyptic boogaloo to motivate gun and weapon stockpiling as well as combat training. If this week is any indication, it will be a so-called "long hot summer" of ongoing protests and increased White Supremacist violence against black people. Another black male was killed by police, this time Atlanta's Rayshard Brooks. Later in the week, Robert Fuller's half-brother, Terron Jammal Boone, was reportedly killed in a gun battle with California enforcement officers. Fuller's Palmdale, California hanging death is still under investigation and viewed with logical suspicion. The ongoing protests have launched congressional chats on police reforms, the toppling of a number of confederate statues, and the termination of Aunt Jemima syrup and pancake mix. The stereotypical image of a black female was used to hawk diabetic concoctions for over 125 years. In one bright spot, the White-dominated LGBTG movement nabbed another victory from the U.S. Supreme Court, where justices rules that the 1964 Civil Rights Act protects LGBTQ employees. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Ranzo of The Black Experience Japan (BEJ). Designed to "share the totality of the black experience in Japan," BEJ use video series and documentaries to "paint a more accurate picture of life in Japan for the black individual." This project began in 2017, and in three years, they garnered hundreds of thousands of followers and have produced a huge library of content documenting the experiences of black people in Japan and surrounding areas. The marches against police killings of black people have continued across the world. In Gus's Seattle, a 27-year-old black male protester, Daniel Gregory, was shot, but survived. The gunman, Nikolas Fernandez, was arrested and faces first degree assault charges. Gus visited the Capitol Hill area where the shooting took place a day later. The area looked like a war zone. I've never been more terrified in my time in Seattle. The Seattle looters (many of them White) used machinery to break into jewelry stores, got the Capitol Hill police department to abandon the facilities, and drew the ire of President Donald J. The Covid-19 pandemic stalled the planet and shuttered businesses globally for weeks - months in some instances. Just as restrictions begin being eased in the U.S., protests over the police killing of George Floyd have erupted world wide. Fatal shootings, tear gas, brawls and looting has spread across North America, causing a number of recently opened businesses to close again. The ongoing disruptions are leaking into workplace conversations. There have been numerous reports about racist comments being made on the job and employees being terminated for social media posts about the protests. We'll emphasize the importance of not discussing politics or sharing your thoughts on the protests while you're at work. Some companies are taking time to have meetings and office dialogs on "race." The Context of White Supremacy is tremendously thankful to reach the 10th and final study session on Dr. Llaila O. Afrika's Nutritional Destruction Black People (Nutricide). #WorstBookEver Dr. Afrika is an internationally acclaimed author, naturopathic healer, certified acupuncturist, nutrition counselor and addictionologist. His surprising death in March of this year saddened and stunned many. He was 74. We were scheduled to read Dr. Afrika's work at some point this year, but there was no urgency to select a time. The coronavirus changed everything. Seemingly days after many around the world joked that black people are immune to "the rona," an avalanche of reports announced that black people in the U.S. are dying at alarming numbers from the so-called coronavirus. The history and continued practice of #MedicalAprtheid, abusing and experimenting on black patients, is one theory to explain the high number of fatalities. But obesity, cigarette smoking, high blood pressure, diabetes and a host of other diet-related health problems seem to be correlated with a higher risk of dying from the coronavirus. The current health crisis demanded that we open Dr. Afrika's work immediately. Unfortunately, the book is rife with errors, misprints, name-calling, dubious claims unsupported by evidence, and is generally unworthy of being read. Listeners who met Dr. Afrika personally have unflinchingly supported he and his work - ignoring or minimizing the countless typos, poor logic and antiblackness throughout the text. Last week's section was particularly unhelpful, as much of chapter 6 is a motley collection of charts, sentence fragments, and lists. Dr. Afrika jumps from sharing his views on Ritalin, to noise in the "ghetto," to hair relaxers, to black teen suicide. There's no analysis explaining how these different topics are related or why they're all randomly clumped in one chapter. These topics often have entire books devoted to providing a comprehensive analysis. Dr. Afrika frequently writes less than one full page of detail on these complex problems. Often, he doesn't even write complete sentences.
