A silver medal-winner from the 2012 Olympics in London, Bausch was a part of the inaugural team pursuit competition and became the oldest athlete in history in her cycling division. This 1996 New York Times bestseller enjoyed two different waves of success. It was critically acclaimed during the initial mid-90's publication, and it found re-newed success following the wildly successful 2016 FX miniseries - which is based on Toobin's work. Toobin enjoyed three glorious decades of journalism, spawned from his coverage of the Simpson trial. He wrote beloved books on the Supreme Court and authored a scathing indictment of President Donald J. Trump. Things were triumphant until the year of the rona. While participating in a live Zoom conference with prominent White journalists, Toobin exposed his penis and began masturbating. He was initially suspended by the New Yorker. Speaking of progress, the city of Philadelphia apologized to for bombing the MOVE organization in 1985. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the 11th and final study session on Isabel Wilkerson's 2020 offering, Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents. Wilkerson can stuff a storage area and a luggage set with the numerous (and well-earned) prizes she's garnered - often for writing about the mistreatment of black people. The Warmth of Other Suns is beloved by President Barack Obama and Gus T. Renegade alike. However, Caste is a shameful, pathetic offering and is cemented as the 2nd worst book Gus has read. The word "caste" is in the text more than 1,000 times according to word count - this does not include the title of the text. It frequently seems like one of the primary objectives of this text is to get black people to use the word "caste" as oppose to Racism/White Supremacy. During last week's section of the text, Wilkerson details President Obama's 2008 rise to the White House. She includes the birther movement and numerous insults Obama faced during his presidency. However, Wilkerson greatly minimizes the historic number of death threats Obama and his family faced during his presidency. Branding it an undercurrent of resentment, Wilkerson describes Trump's 2016 triumph as the response to White resentments and feelings of loss. Seemingly by obligation, Wilkerson returns to the Heather Heyer's 2017 killing. An associate professor in History, the College, and the Law School at the University of Chicago, Dr. Dailey's research revolves around the relationship between race, sex, and politics in the post-Emancipation South. We'll examine her 2020 publication, White Fright: The Sexual Panic at the Heart of America's Racist History. The book explores more than a century of White paranoia about black males raping White White Women. Dailey adds no new analysis or greater understanding to this topic (which already has a mighty heap of scholarship) and generally has the same enormous voids as most other volumes: ignoring White male's sexual abuse of black males and White Women's sexual abuse of black males and females. The book also consistently implies that Whites often seek to keep Whites and black people "separate." With the chronic and undisputed White rape of black people, "separation" has never been the goal.
