The book club just concluded Geronimo Pratt's biography, which examines how the very same LAPD and Los Angeles district attorney's office conspired to keep an innocent black male caged for 25 years - where he could have easily been killed. Importantly, the former Black Panther and COINTELPRO victim Pratt was Shakur's godparent. Last week, Sullivan provided readers with his version of Shakur and Wallace's short lives and rap careers. When describing Shakur's godfather, Pratt, Sullivan omitted mention of Pratt's release from prison or how the FBI and LAPD seemed to coordinate their COINTELPRO targeting of him. The Black Misandry overflowed, as Sullivan cites rumors of Shakur being anally raped in prison and losing a testicle during his 1994 shooting in New York. Sullivan describes Shakur as being a nerdy young child, far from authentic gangster, who was bullied for being effeminate. Below the border in Michigan, an asian male is charged with shooting a 6-year-old black child who attempted to retrieve a bicycle. The shooter was released on $10,000 bond. Mastercard announced $1.3 billion pledge to improve Covid-19 vaccination rates in Africa. The world's second ranked women's tennis player, Naomi Osaka, withdrew from the French Open to shield her mental health and take space from the mostly White journalist covering the event. Whites continue to direct a great deal of time and energy to the Tulsa massacre of 100 years ago. Gus frequently points out that there have been at least 260 terrorist events similar to Tulsa. Former President Barack Obama demonstrated why Gus emphasize caution with the use of metaphors when he likened White support of former President Trump to black people cheering for the acquittal of O.J. Japanese tennis sensation Naomi Osaka excused herself from the Women's French Open after declining media interviews during the tournament. Across the globe, the NBA playoffs are in full swing, and uncouth White spectators have been a major problem. He wrote for Sport Illustrated during the turbulent 1960's, and penned a celebrated series examining black athletes and Racism. The magazine also credits Olsen with writing one of the best biographies on boxing icon and attempted counter-racist Muhammad Ali. Last week, Cochran thrashed Julius Butler on the stand during the 1996 hearing. The Victim of White Supremacy and FBI/LAPD informant started off polished and professorial, but got flustered and became foul-mouthed after Cochran's questioning. Butler provided one answer that resulted in even Judge Dickey wondering if the prosecution had provided specific answers they wanted the witness to repeat. Hanlon, conversely struggled questioning Judge Richard Kalustian. While Cochran allegedly made the entire court room his stage, Hanlon looked flustered and incompetent. This week in San Jose, a White (Samuel James Cassidy) man orchestrated a well planned terrorist assault where 9 Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority employees were killed. It appears that four of the victims may have been classified as non-white. Reports indicate that the White killer, who worked with the VTA for nearly a decade, allegedly told others that he "hated" work, and it seems he may have targeted specific coworkers. This is only weeks after a White, former FedEx employee, Brandon Hole, shot and killed several workers in Indiana. Gus submits it may be helpful to speak with your employer about workplace safety and potential signs of violence. Also on the Capitol, the House of Representatives approved an investigation into the Terrorist attack on January 6th of this year. In Washington state, educators announced that public schools in the state will no longer use SAT or ACT scores for enrollment. The jury convicted Chauvin on all counts, and he'll be sentenced later this year. While many labeled this a watershed moment in stopping police terrorism against black people. There were a number of black people killed by police during the waning days of the trial. As Chauvin's jury deliberated, Daunte Wright was executed by a White female officer in Minnesota. In Columbus, Ohio 16-year-old Ma'Khia Bryant was killed by enforcement officials. In Florida, Governor Ron DeSantis helped usher in new laws that add draconian punishments for public protests. And contrary to theories that black male rappers marinate in their riches and fame, in the last 10 days, former hip-hop icons DMX (Earl Simmons), Shock G (Gregory Edward Jacobs), and Black Rob (Robert Ross) all died. A Pulitzer-Prize-nominated journalist and author, Jones is a White man who’s worked and written about the Commonwealth of Virginia for a number of years. We’ll discuss his more recent text, The Organ Thieves: The Shocking Story of the First Heart Transplant in the Segregated South. The book describes how a black male, Bruce Tucker, died under peculiar circumstances in 1968. As opposed to having his family notified, so they could comfort Mr. Tucker in his final moments, no one was contacted until Tucker was deceased and his heart stolen. The heart was later “found” inside a White man as the state bragged about the first successful heart transplant in the region. We’ll place this in the context of the “coonman” Governor Ralph Northam, who graduated medical school in Virginia, and the current Covid-19 health crisis. In Washington D.C., a black male, Noah Green, is reported to have rammed a security barricade near the White House. He allegedly killed a Capitol Security officer and lunged at an official with a knife. Gus encourages that this incident - like all others - be careful scrutinized as many inaccuracies were reported in the 2013 killing of Miriam I. Jeff Bezos's progeny has steadfastly resisted calls to accept unionization, claiming they have the best treated slaves of any plantation. They employed all manner of propaganda in pleading their case. Also, we've endured 12+ months of covid-19 disruptions of the workplace. This week Facebook, Uber, and Microsoft and Google and a number of other businesses announced that employees should plan to return to the office at some point later in this year. Many held out hopes that remote work, or at least a "hybrid" system may be a possibility for the future. With the rush to return to a "normal" work environment, a number of businesses are also offering incentives for workers to get vaccinated. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the 5th study session on Jack Olsen's Last Man Standing: The Tragedy and Triumph of Geronimo Pratt. Olsen is a White male, and a prolific author. Olsen wrote for Sport Illustrated during the 1960's, and penned a celebrated series examining black athletes and Racism. The magazine also credits Olsen with writing one of the best biographies on boxing icon and attempted counter-racist Muhammad Ali. Last week, the homoeroticism of the text took center stage when Julius Butler took the witness stand to testify that Geronimo Pratt brandished a firearm and threatened to shoot Ollie Taylor - a teenage black male Panther member. Butler added that Pratt "cocked the gun" and achieved full erection simultaneously. It's unclear if Butler's COINTELPRO handlers instructed him to add this conspicuous bit of false testimony, or he added this spicy anecdote of his own volition. At this point, Cochran is still arrogantly dismissive of Pratt's claims that a larger force is conspiring to falsely convict him of murder.
