On today’s 80th anniversary of the execution of anti-Hitler resistance leader Dietrich Bonhoffer, it is more necessary than ever that we walk in the footsteps of people like him: the courageous and optimistic. Helga Zepp-LaRouche will be speaking with the former U.S. Ambassador to the Soviet Union, Jack Matlock. Ambassador Matlock was a career Foreign Service officer, serving as the U.S. Ambassador to Moscow during the turbulent years of 1987 to 1991, which preceded the peaceful dissolution of the Soviet Union. From that vantage point, he has special insights into U.S.-Russian relations, including the prospect for normalization of relations today, after the breakdown during the Biden years.

One major hurdle to restart U.S. industry is that the machinery needed to set up many different production lines is not available. It must be imported, much of it from China. Everything from furniture manufacturing, to packaging materials, to producing nuts and bolts has been dependent on foreign-produced machines. Bloomberg this week reviews dependence on China. In recent months, U.S. businesses have filed hundreds of requests, made to the U.S. Trade Representative, for exemptions on China tariffs in order to get such machinery. One example is Tesla, Inc., which has filed multiple requests, arguing that they are needed to restart manufacturing in the U.S. Such a piecemeal approach is unlikely to survive the deluge of a trade war. Rather, the U.S. might join the long line of countries benefitting from China’s “Belt and Road Initiative” to industrialize other countries. Johan “Kip” Eideberg, Senior Vice President for the Association of Equipment Manufacturers is quoted, “While we certainly agree we should aggressively pursue any policy that helps us make things in America, the idea that you can move every part of the manufacturing process back to the U.S. does not align with reality.” His group represents makers of equipment used in construction, agriculture, mining, utilities and forest products. Jay Timmons, president of the National Association of Manufacturers said in a statement that the tariffs, “threaten investment, jobs, supply chains and, in turn, America’s ability to outcompete other nations.” What gets lost in the discussion is that no serious national drive for industrialization can avoid dealing with unstable supply lines, inadequate and/or outmoded transportation and electrical infrastructure, and an adequately educated and skilled workforce.

Putin’s top envoy and CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev met in the White House with Steve Witkoff on Friday. Despite drama being stirred up in mainstream media about Trump being angry that negotiations are “stalling,” Dmitriev indicated a different, more positive tone, in an X post: “Whatever your politics—dialogue between the US and Russia matters. It’s about building a more secure, more prosperous world for everyone.” Yesterday, Dmitriev posted on Telegram a more complete explanation of his diplomacy: "Dialogue between Russia and the U.S., which is of the utmost importance for the entire world, has been completely destroyed under the previous administration of U.S. President Joe Biden." Further, "numerous forces in many countries are now vying to derail the efforts being made by Moscow and Washington to restore relations. The opponents of rapprochement are afraid that Russia and the U.S. will find common ground, begin to better understand each other and build cooperation, both in international affairs and in the economy."President Trump has also indicated that he is willing to engage in indirect negotiations with Iran, surprising those who wish to see an immediate attack on that nation, coordinated with Israel. The present situation in the world, whether in Ukraine, Southwest Asia, or anywhere else, demands non-war, nonviolent solutions which represent a complete change in the present way of thinking. The Russia-U.S. resumption of relations represents one such axiomatic shift taking place, which is driving the imperial warmongers in the City of London insane. The American System of Physical Economy—not “political economy,”but physical economy— should be put to international use in the formation of a new, security and development architecture. This is achievable because of the new strategic geometry of the BRICS+ and Global South nations which has come into existence, and which the neocons in Washington and London have deliberately been trying to ignore. President Trump’s inclination to reach a long-term settlement of the Ukraine crisis puts him at odds with imperial British financial forces, and their employees in the intelligence and media establishments, that are now pushing for him to go to war in Iran, China, and other places. We must not sit on the sidelines at this historic crossroads. Rather, in the tradition of great patriotic figures in American history, such as Martin Luther King, Jr., or Lyndon LaRouche, we can act as historical individuals, viewing the world “from the mountaintop.”

There is a preponderance of evidence which proves that the U.S.-NATO proxy war against Russia in Ukraine is the result of lies, promoted by special interests, i.e., global cartels, to prevent the emergence of a new security and development architecture. We must no longer tolerate such lies to stand unchallenged, such as that which insists the Russian advance into Ukraine was "unprovoked". It is time for accountability. Wars over the last sixty years are the result of private corporate interests controlling governments -- precisely what Eisenhower warned about in his speech on the power of the Military-Industrial Complex. Lyndon LaRouche began addressing the present crisis more than 50 years ago. Donald Trump was savvy enough to ride a growing wave of anger in the American population against the Washington Establishment’s “forever wars,” and the related collapse of the economy under their weight, into the White House in 2025. He quickly opened direct communication with Russian President Vladimir Putin to work on peace in Ukraine, slamming the brakes on Biden’s defiant drive to World War III against Russia. Trump refused to include neocons such as Mike Pompeo and John Bolton in his government, rightly arguing that they had stampeded the country into war one too many times. And he even started cleaning the London-run permanent bureaucracy out of the intelligence community – some refer to it as the “Deep State” – and turned instead to reliable professionals such as Tulsi Gabbard at DNI and Kash Patel at the FBI. But is that savvy Donald Trump now so foolish – or so manipulable by the know-it-all British and their Israeli junior partners – to be seriously contemplating escalating American attacks against the Houthis in Yemen into an all-out strike against Iran? A strike that would include an attempted knockout blow against Iran’s well-protected nuclear program, which could end up covering the entire region of Southwest Asia in a radioactive cloud, even if a broader war were somehow avoided? Trump’s own escalating rhetoric against Iran points in that direction. But more than the rhetoric, there is last week’s deployment of a half-dozen B-2 stealth bombers to the U.S.-U.K. military base on Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean, within striking distance of Iran. There is the reported shipment of a sophisticated THAAD anti-missile system to Diego Garcia, which is otherwise largely unprotected from air attacks. There is the deployment of a second aircraft carrier strike group, the USS Vinson, to join the USS Truman in the Red Sea. Have the Israelis and the British managed to convince Trump that Iran would crumble under such a “decapitation” strike? Has his own intelligence team, perhaps still reeling from the British-orchestrated SignalGate scandal, not been able to provide the actual intelligence that shows otherwise? On April 1, one of Russia’s most level-headed senior diplomats, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov, warned against such an American strike on Iran: "Threats are indeed heard, ultimatums are heard… The consequences of this, especially if the strikes are on nuclear infrastructure, could be catastrophic for the entire region.” Ryabkov offered Russia’s help to deescalate the crisis: “While there is still time and the ‘train has not left the station,’ we need to redouble our efforts to try to reach an agreement on a reasonable basis. Russia is ready to offer its good services to Washington, Tehran, and everyone who is interested in this," he said. That kind of cooperation among the United States, Russia, China and others, is essential to defuse the war danger that now threatens in various theaters -- Southwest Asia, the Taiwan Strait, and of course Ukraine – and to initiate deliberation on the broader issue, a new security and development architecture. It is the old architecture which is spawning war after war, as well as economic looting and financial breakdown.

The militarization demand they are pushing is, in actuality, another financial bubble, the terminal bubble in the sequence of bubbles, following on the global “Green” fraud, also pushed by the political-financial centers of the City of London, Wall Street, and satellites. The war economy bubble is untenable. As for the leading figures of Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and others, they are toy soldier Napoleons—but playing with nuclear fire. Rallies and voices are rising against them in Europe. As this kind of call to action reverberates across the trans-Atlantic, we also see the response of those cornered: They perpetrate intimidating and illegal actions to squash opposition. In France today, judges handed down a ruling that prevents political activity by Marie Le Pen, of the sizable Rassemblement National (National Rally) party, for five years. Moreover, this action against her lifts the gate for another political figure to make gains, who has aligned himself with all that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is doing. In the other “democracies” across Europe there are similarly blatant interventions, as we have seen in Romania. In her opening statement to the 95th consecutive meeting of the International Peace Coalition, Helga Zepp-LaRouche said that in order to make sense of the world, it is crucial to “put the priorities of the importance of events first,” and then everything will fall into place. It is clear that the most important dynamic taking place comes from the series of talks between the United States and Russia to restore constructive diplomacy. The negotiations in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia over the past few days, produced a pair of statements, that Russia, the United States, and Ukraine agreed to, namely, “to ensure safe navigation, eliminate the use of force, and prevent the use of commercial vessels for military purposes in the Black Sea,” they have agreed to “develop measures for implementing … [the] agreement to ban strikes against energy facilities of Russia and Ukraine.” Not just a day after that agreement was signed that Ukraine began attacking energy facilities on Russian territory, in what was a clear message by its British controllers that no peace agreement would be allowed. Just last morning, HIMARS missiles were fired from Ukraine into Russia, targeting a gas metering station in Sudzha. According to Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova: “There is reason to believe that the targeting and guidance for these strikes were conducted via French satellite systems, while the input of coordinates and launch procedures were managed by British specialists.” It was part of the Ukrainian “terror” campaign, she said, stressing, “The command was issued from London.” The Russians have a clear understanding of the British role behind sabotaging peace agreements in Ukraine. Besides their intervention in Europe, they also intend to spring a trap for the Trump Administration to go to war with Iran, which wouldn’t lead to Iran’s destruction, but Trump’s presidency itself. Consider the absurdity of the so-called “Signalgate” narrative, which is that a leak of an incredibly sensitive discussion on a public app about carrying an ill-conceived bombing of Yemen was picked up by Jeffrey Goldberg, a pro-war reporter with the Atlantic, who just happened to be on the same group chat where it was discussed by Trump officials. This is precisely being done by British intelligence to disrupt the Trump team, and destroy the talks taking place which would move the world away from thermonuclear war. I am joined today by Petr Bystron, a Member of the European Parliament, who is from the Alternativ feur Deutschland Party (AfD) representing Germany, to discuss why many European governments are refusing to back President Trump's mobilization to end the war in Ukraine and normalize relations with Russia. Petr says the anti-Russian sentiments come from geopolitics, from London and Washington, based on fear of German-Russian economic collaboration. He also explains the betrayal of the incoming German Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, who is embracing a policy of military buildup, green transition and deindustrialization on behalf of private interests, rather than acting for the benefit of the German people.

There is a growing drumbeat around WashingtThere is a growing drumbeat around Washington urging the Trump administration to use the recent U.S. air strikes against the Houthis in Yemen as a prelude and practice run for delivering a knock-out punch to Iran next. National Security Adviser Mike Waltz threatened on March 23 that Iran had to change its foreign policy and “walk away completely” from its nuclear program, or “there will be consequences.” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly been bending the Trump administration’s ear that Iran can be “decapitated” without a full-scale war, the way the IDF did with Hezbollah and the way the Assad government in Syria was toppled. This is insanity – nuclear tinged insanity. The U.S. aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson is on its way to the Southwest Asia theater. Two other U.S. aircraft carriers – the USS Nimitz and the USS Gerald R. Ford – are preparing to deploy, although their destination has not been disclosed. At the same time, there are credible media accounts that the U.S. just deployed anywhere from five to seven B-2 stealth bombers from Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri to the island of Diego Garcia in the middle of the Indian Ocean, with their accompanying air refueling tankers. Military experts have noted that this a very large and highly unusual deployment, which appears to be linked to an impending military operation. Yet President Trump himself has been clear: “We believe that the job of the United States military is not to wage endless regime change wars around the globe, senseless wars,” he stated in a May 2024 speech. He was right then; and he should listen to himself now. Launching an attack on Iran, besides blowing up the entire Middle East, would destroy the crucial talks underway between the United States and Russia, which have the potential for bringing peace not only to Ukraine, but which also open the door to a much-needed new security and development architecture – in that region, and even globally. Who in the world would want to sink the promising Trump-Putin negotiations? The British, that’s who. The very same British who are doing everything in their power to prevent peace in Ukraine, and maintain their financial and political empire globally. Recall the fateful report issued on Dec. 18, 2018 by the British House of Lords Select Committee on International Relations, titled “U.K. Foreign Policy in a Shifting World Order.” The Lords there pronounced that President Donald Trump was their number-one problem in the world, and openly stated that his removal was critical to their interests. Above all, they said, a second Trump Presidency had to be avoided at all costs, in order to preserve the US-UK “Special Relationship” through which they intended to keep running the world.

Some time soon, perhaps even by the time you read this, British Intelligence infiltrators in the Trump Administration may have forced the resignation of one of the senior officials of the Presidency. This is to be accomplished in the same way that Gen. Michael Flynn was dismissed as Trump’s National Security Advisor 22 days into the first Trump Administration. The immediate targets include Steve Witkoff, Tulsi Gabbard, Kash Patel, and CIA Director Ratcliffe. That is what the “Signal-Gate” affair is all about: use the “leak” of the sensitive discussion (on a public app!!) about carrying out the ill-conceived bombing of Yemen, to disrupt the selected Trump team. That would, in turn, disrupt the ultra-sensitive negotiations going on between Russia and the United States. These negotiations are not about Ukraine, though that ongoing war is one of the features of those discussions. These talks are about the United States making a sovereign policy decision, and taking concrete action, to move the world away from thermonuclear war, and that in the short term, without “consulting” the British Empire. Today, a new Russian ambassador, Alexander Darchiev arrived in the United States. This is the first time that Russia officially returned to the U.S. since October 5 of last year. This comes about after hours of personal exchanges between Putin and Trump, and after the concrete work of the Saudi Arabia negotiations process. In this context, ask yourself: Just why would the same President Trump, who once said in a May, 2024 speech that “you can solve problems over a telephone, instead they start dropping bombs…Recently, they’re dropping bombs all over Yemen. You don’t have to do that” then engage in bombing Yemen? Former U.S. Congressman Dennis Kucinich, who is a long-time opponent of the endless wars waged in Iraq, Libya, Syria, and Afghanistan, has intervened in a article on March 25 warning Trump against going to war with Iran: “It was not in America’s interest then, nor is it now, to go to war with Iran, a nation of 90 million people, a technologically advanced society, with nearly a million-person army. President Trump should not be misled. War with Iran would be the end of his presidency.” He then warns the disruption of the oil markets would translate into $7-$10 a gallon gasoline at the pumps in the US causing mass economic dislocation and financial shocks. This is the British Great Game in action. Are Americans just too dumb to understand what’s going on? Possibly. Organizers report that as many as 70% of Americans under 50 randomly polled in the street have no idea that 2025-26 is the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution , and that at least 25% have no idea that the United States fought the British to gain independence. King Charles is offering the United States to re-join the Commonwealth, a proposal originally made and authorized by his mother, Elizabeth in the first Trump Administration. Are Americans, is the Trump Administration, dumb enough to accept? That’s the way of perfidious Albion. You will find that is you bow to His/Her Majesty, whether in Gaza, Yemen, Iran or Ukraine, the next time you try to lift your head, it will fall into the royal lap. The City of London is dead-set against allowing a U.S.-Russia normalization of relations, so they are pushing a massive defense buildup in Europe and an Israeli-U.S. strike against Iran, to stop the process unleashed between Trump and Putin. Over the past few days in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, diplomats and negotiators from the U.S. have been meeting (separately) with their Russian and Ukrainian counterparts. Today, the White House announced, in a pair of statements, that all three nations are in agreement on several items: The countries have agreed “to ensure safe navigation, eliminate the use of force, and prevent the use of commercial vessels for military purposes in the Black Sea,” they have agreed to “develop measures for implementing … [the] agreement to ban strikes against energy facilities of Russia and Ukraine,” and they have agreed to “continue working toward achieving a durable and lasting peace.” This significant step forward in resolving the NATO-Russia conflict playing out in Ukraine comes despite efforts to thwart the outbreak of peace. Such efforts include the demands by European Union officials and officials of nations including Germany, the United Kingdom, and the Baltics for massively increased military spending and for “peacekeeping” forces that would prevent peace in the first place. Or consider the state of mind of Ukraine’s acting president, whose taste in art gives a sense of what his inclinations might be. (His favorite painting, hung in his private office, depicts the Kremlin in flames.) The head of Ukraine’s Foreign Affairs Committee has accused Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, of spreading Russian propaganda and called for him to be fired for making “disgraceful, shocking statements.” By overcoming such obstacles, real progress was made in Riyadh, progress the world should applaud. But Southwest Asia is becoming increasingly dangerous. Although he left arch-warmongers John Bolton and Mike Pompeo out of his new administration, Donald Trump’s seeming fixation on Tehran as an implacable enemy leaves him vulnerable to manipulation by those pushing for an Israeli-U.S. attack on Iran. (The U.S. Threat Assessment compiled this year assesses, again, that Iran is not building a nuclear weapon.) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, facing increasing outrage over his policies, both domestic and with respect to Gaza, hopes for the protection that he believes comes with being a wartime leader—in part to escape the tightening net of corruption charges circling around him. Will a sinking Bibi pull Trump down with him? The contradictions between Trump’s campaign promises and the policies he is actually implementing are causing increasing blowback among his supporters. How does “America First” square with bombing Yemen and supporting Israeli ethnic cleansing? And how hollow now seem the proclamations of free speech in light of Trump’s misnamed Task Force To Combat Anti-Semitism crushing speech and expression critical of Israeli policy, including through deportations ordered on speech grounds, in violation of the First Amendment. And what about the economy? Trump’s tariffs will not cause the economy to bloom, and his scattershot approach to sanctions and potential port fees for Chinese-built vessels threaten trade and cause businesses and countries around the world to reconsider their relationship to the U.S. market and financial system. Meanwhile, his friends and family are promoting their own cryptocurrencies, supposedly as a way of bolstering the dollar. This is not the way forward. What the United States needs is the economic approach of economist and many-time presidential candidate Lyndon LaRouche. This past weekend, The LaRouche Organization held an event in New York City, where speakers presented a strategic overview of the “American System” of political economy, the real means to foster an economic recovery.

President Putin’s visit to newly-liberated areas in Kursk on Wednesday, dressed in full military garb, is a clear message in this regard. All eyes yesterday were on Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where Ukrainian and American representatives met and agreed to a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine. Today, President Trump’s Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, assuredly to discuss the proposal. In a press conference today with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko, Putin made clear that he was thankful for the efforts of President Trump, along with the governments of China, Brazil, India, and South Africa for engaging in constructive dialogue to resolve the senseless killing in Ukraine. He also said that he was in favor of a ceasefire, as long as it led to a long-term settlement of the crisis. There must be guarantees, Putin said, on how the 30-day ceasefire will function. Will Ukraine take this as an opportunity to remobilize? How will violations to the agreement be handled? Who will be blamed if violations occur? Clearly, President Putin understands the strategic implications of what President Trump has set into motion, but is adamant that Russia’s long-term security concerns must be addressed. The solution to the NATO-Russia war, the genocide in Southwest Asia, and other global conflicts relies on principles of statecraft, not simply good intentions.
