"Forgiveness and life are intertwined" Trinity 19 2021
How does Jesus give us such faith? Blessings for this life are given according to God’s good and gracious will. But bodily gifts such as good health, wealth, or any other luxury do not give faith. It rains on the just and unjust alike. Saying to the paralytic, “Rise, take up your bed and go home,” would give him a temporary and fleeting faith until the next catastrophe or until he faced death. Only the faith given by the Gospel will save in eternity. Only the faith given by Christ’s forgiveness is faith that finally silences ugly accusations of the flesh, the world, and the devil.

"Surely I am with you always to the very end of the age" - Funeral of Kay R. Winter
30. September 2021 Funeral of Kay R. Winter Psalm 23 This was Kay’s faith. She knew that one day the Lord would come and take her by the hand and lead her to her heavenly home. This is what happened on the day of her death, which happened to be the day before her baptism birthday. By God's giving, she was baptized into Christ and learned the Lutheran confession. She walked with the Lord all her life. The Holy Spirit guided her steps to walk in Christ’s righteousness, living under His name. By God's grace, she kept his vow to remain faithful to the Lord all her life. And just a few days ago, Jesus gave her a blessed end and brought her safely into His eternal dwellings. What a wonderful example for you! I know that you will miss her in your family.

"Submitting with Humility" Trinity 17 - September 26, 2021
Unlike the authorities of this world, Jesus always rules over you for your good. He uses His authority always and forever for your benefit and not His own. His kingship is marked by His service. He reigns over you with His love and peace. He makes you His own by forgiving you and bringing you into His kingdom. You are humbled before Him, you are placed under His cross, where He gives Himself completely to you. He gives you His own body and blood, exalting you to His table to kneel and eat His flesh and blood given and shed for you.

"The only way to live content is to live in faith in Jesus" Trinity 16 2021
Jesus is the only answer to your heart’s deceit and longing. Jesus is the only answer to the liar and the lies of this world. Unlike the devil who can only corrupt, deceive, and destroy, Jesus comes with forgiveness, truth, and life. He overwhelms the liar with truth. Unlike the world that can only charm and dominate, Jesus comes with love, humility, and weakness. He overthrows the power of this world with His cross. And you don’t need live in fear of death because He destroyed death by His death and has brought life and immortality for you.

"Jesus is your past and He has promised you your future" Trinity 15 2021
If you’re going to look to the past, look to Jesus Christ and Him crucified. On the cross of Calvary, God proves His loving care for you. Jesus died not just to give you more food, drink, or clothing. He does that regardless. But Jesus died to absolve you your sins and He rose having destroyed death forever. Your entire past is forgiven in Jesus. If you’re going to look to the future, see through the promises of God’s Word. Here, in Jesus’ kingdom, you constantly assured that where there is forgiveness of sins, there is life now and eternally. As you are already now saved from death, you can rest confidently knowing that God will on the Last Day receive you into the heavenly dwellings already now prepared for you and all those who love Him. If you’re going to look forward, look to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who has promised you eternal life.

“Ask, and it will be given to you" Funeral of Janis Myra Liepert
September 9, 2021 Janis asked the LORD for help and it was given to her. She sought the LORD in her distress and she found Him comforting her. Her heart was opened to receiving Jesus as He came to her with everything need for faith and life. When her dear parents, brothers and sisters, grandson, and friends died, she sought the LORD in prayer and He answered her with comfort and confidence by His promises. Jesus promised and she placed all her confidence in Him.

"Hear, my son... I have taught you in the way of wisdom" Trinity 14 2021
What does it mean to walk in the light, on the path? It means to follow Christ as His disciple. You go where He goes. But how can you know the way? He tells you. He instructs you. Remember, Jesus told His disciples that to be a disciple is to be baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and to learning to observe all things that Jesus has spoken. The only way forward is with Jesus, listening to Him, following Him, and holding fast to Him as He’s revealed Himself in His Word.
