If you’re going to look to the past, look to Jesus Christ and Him crucified. On the cross of Calvary, God proves His loving care for you. Jesus died not just to give you more food, drink, or clothing. He does that regardless. But Jesus died to absolve you your sins and He rose having destroyed death forever. Your entire past is forgiven in Jesus.
If you’re going to look to the future, see through the promises of God’s Word. Here, in Jesus’ kingdom, you constantly assured that where there is forgiveness of sins, there is life now and eternally. As you are already now saved from death, you can rest confidently knowing that God will on the Last Day receive you into the heavenly dwellings already now prepared for you and all those who love Him. If you’re going to look forward, look to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who has promised you eternal life.
