To have a silent mind and a deep stillness for the entirety of the meditation. But this is not true. Meditation is simply a tool to use to practice touching our stillness, to practice letting go of our thoughts, to practice being present. The true beauty of meditation is that it helps us to become more mindful of the moments of stillness we can experience throughout the day. And is the tool we can use to connect to it. Mini moments of stillness. Closing our eyes in the car when we’re parked and taking deep breaths before we walk into the house. Feeling the warm water on your body during a shower with deep gratitude for the luxury. Laughing with our kids in a state of raw presence. So this morning’s meditation will give you the opportunity to kickstart your day present to all the mini moments of stillness awaiting you. So breathe in, And bring your attention inward. Beginning our meditation with a wave of release, Letting go of your expectations of what this should be, What should happen, How you should feel. Let them all go, Like the leaves of a tree falling to the ground. And simply be here with your breath. PAUSE… Use your breath as your anchor to this moment, A way to bring you back when your mind calls you to dance with thoughts. Find your breath and be here. PAUSE… Breathe in refreshing oxygen, Breathe out expectations. Breathe in presence, Breathe out the thoughts. LONG PAUSE… As the day progresses, And you find yourself lost in thoughts, Caught up in the swirling movement of life, Come back here, And find your mini moments of stillness. Breathe into the stretch, staying with the pull of the muscles, And release. PAUSE... Drop your head to the other side, feeling the stretch, Holding it there for a moment. And then release, Bringing your head and your neck back into a comfortable position. PAUSE… Now bring your attention to your face, Open your mouth wide, Stretching out the muscles in your cheeks, Mouth, And forehead. Opening and closing your mouth, Slowly releasing any tension in your muscles. PAUSE... Now from your seated position, Or standing if you like, Reach your hands up above your head and stretch your legs out as far as you can, Pointing your toes and opening your fingers. Imagining your body being pulled from the top and bottom as your body expands. PAUSE… Feel the stretch align your spine, And release any pieces of stress or tension stored in your body. PAUSE… And then release, Feeling the rush of calmness in your body. PAUSE… Breathe and release. Breathe and relax. Healing. Invigorating, Calming. We can use it as a tool to gain clarity, calm anxiety and connect to the wisdom inside of us. This morning’s meditation will help you breathe easily, so you can unlock the magic within. So close your eyes and let’s begin, Settling your body into a position that’s comfortable for you. And go ahead and take your first deep breath in, Feeling the air flowing in through your nose, your chest and your belly. And when you can’t expand anymore, Breathe out, contracting your belly until the very last drop of air is released. One more deep breath in, Imagining the air filling up your entire body with refreshing oxygen, And then releasing all the air out. Bring your breathing to a comfortable, slow rhythm, And be here. Sitting with your breath. PAUSE… Now stay here for a bit. Just you and your breath, Breathing easily, Naturally, Rhythmically. PAUSE… With no agenda. No need to figure anything out. Just you and your breath. Easily here in this moment. Letting go of any thoughts or emotions that pop up, And then coming back to your breath. Breathe… LONG PAUSE (3 MINS)… Now come back to my voice, Back to the rhythm of your breathing. PAUSE… Place your hand on your belly, And as you breathe in deeply, Feel your belly expand like a balloon. All the way until you can’t breathe in anymore. And then exhale, Feeling the sensation of your belly contracting, As all the air is released. PAUSE… Now drop your hand, And settle into a nice, easy rhythm of breathing. Imagining your inhale gathering everything up, And your exhale releasing it all out. Breathe in and gather… Breathe out and release. Breathe in, Breathe out. Pull your attention away from those thoughts, Those emotions, Those plans, Those worries, And be here with your breath. LONG PAUSE… If thoughts keep arising, That’s okay. See if you can simply notice them, As they flutter like a butterfly right past you. Riding the breeze, And flying away out of sight. Separate from you, As you stay anchored here in your breath. Over and over again, They fly away, Out of sight, And out of mind. PAUSE… Feel the space in your mind…open. Feel the space in your body…open. LONG PAUSE… Here, in this space, Lies your stillness. This moment between your breathes, This pause between your thoughts. PAUSE… See if you can lean into it now, Imagining that space opening up, Expanding, And filling you with peace. LONG PAUSE… It’s quiet here. Gentle. Filled with a welcoming nothingness that eases you, Relaxes you, And calms you. PAUSE… Let every breath expand your stillness just a bit more, Letting it be okay if butterflies of thoughts find their way in, While you observe them fluttering until they disappear. Nothing for you to seek out. It is all here within you. In this moment. So just breathe... PAUSE... This is the doorway to your inner voice. This present moment. This breath. This space that exists within you when you release your thoughts and emotions. Be here. And listen for a bit... LONG PAUSE... If there’s guidance you’re seeking, Decisions you’re pondering, Emotions you’re managing, Imagine them being released from you every time you breathe out. And when you find it, Take a big, deep breath in, feeling the air go deep into every part of your body, And then exhale all the air out. Take one more deep breath in, filling up your chest and belly with cool, cleansing air, And then breathe it out, And sink deeper into your position. PAUSE… Be here. And breathe. Your attention on the simple and miraculous motion of your breathing. The soothing rhythm, The soft tingling that eventually fills your body as the oxygen floods you. The calmness that arises after every breath out. Breathe… And be still. Breathe… And be here. Deeply relaxed. Releasing any thoughts, Any emotions, As you breathe. PAUSE… Prosperity begins with gratitude for what we already have. So invite yourself to take some time to swim in the fullness of your blessings. Imagining them floating around you now as your heart smiles with thanks. Gratitude for your health, Your family and friends, Your shelter and all the things that make your life yours right now. Be thankful and feel prosperous now. LONG PAUSE... Breathe in and be one with prosperity right now. PAUSE… Now let your body relax, And imagine your dreams tapping you on your shoulder, Ready to play. Breathe deeply and let her take you by the hand, And walk you through a luscious green park. The warm sun is shining and the sounds of animals sing in the background. Everything is alive, Vibrant, Filled with possibility, And it’s all for you. Let yourself play here, On the playgrounds of prosperity, Imagining all the ways you envision abundance are coming to life before your eyes. PAUSE… Perhaps you see money flowing in easily, filling you with trust and feelings of security. Maybe you see yourself in optimal health, running in the distance. Perhaps you see an abundance of time manifesting as travel and relaxation. Just be here and walk through your park of prosperity, Allowing your dreams to play. LONG PAUSE… It’s all yours, my love. And knowing and protecting your boundaries is a core part of loving yourself. In doing so, we make more room for what feels good. And proactively say no to what feels bad. Boundaries change and evolve as we change and evolve. So this morning’s meditation will give you the space to explore your boundaries so you can gain clarity on what they are and any ways you can protect them. So close your eyes if they’re not already, And take a deep breath in as we set an intention for today. May I gain clarity on the boundaries I need to feel more joy in my life, And release any judgements that may arise. And may I be bold as I claim them. PAUSE… Lower your hands, And settle deeper into your position, Letting the warmth of your calming breath pull you in deeper, Its rhythm soothing you into a space of calm. Be here. Breathing in, And breathing out. Letting any thoughts float away, As you sit in the silence. PAUSE… Now take a moment to think about a recent time where you felt anger, or stress, or frustration. Let yourself see those moments without connecting to the emotions they brought up. PAUSE… Take a look at them. And ask yourself this question, Was there a boundary I could have set that would have prevented these emotions? Perhaps you could have said no. Perhaps you could have been more diligent about your schedule or daily habits. Maybe you could have accepted help. Give yourself a moment to simply sit with any of the answers that come up for you, Careful to let go of any self-judgements that may come up. LONG PAUSE… Now take a deep breath in, inviting in courage and strength and an enormous amount of self-love, And as you breathe out, relax, And feel yourself aligned. Clear. Whole. PAUSE... Today’s practice is one you can come back to any time anger, stress or frustration alert you that a boundary might be off. So you can be kind with yourself as you get to know and protect your boundaries.
