Being here in the magic of your breath. Place your hand on your belly, And feel it expand as you breathe in, And contract as you breathe out. Over and over again, Your hand feeling the deep, soothing rhythm of your breathing, As your belly rises and falls with each relaxing breath. PAUSE… Love lives here. In the cells that connect as your hand touches your belly. In the flow of oxygen as it feeds you, In the history of experiences that have brought you here to this moment. You are love. PAUSE… Yet, it is so easy to let our egos take over. To let ourselves get triggered by life. But today, you can choose more love. When anger arises and you want to scream, choose more love. When someone disagrees and you want to make them wrong, choose more love. When others judge you, choose more love. When someone disappoints you, choose more love. When fear creeps up and you want to defend, hide, or blame, choose more love. PAUSE... To choose more love means to stop and reverse the powerful motion of ego. Ego wants to fight back with fire. She wants to prove herself right. She wants to defend her identity. But love embraces the ego, And reminds her that there is nothing to fight, nothing to prove, nothing to defend. That we’re all perfectly imperfect human beings with our own egos and stories. And that we are all made from the same universal love. PAUSE… To choose more love means letting your actions speak louder than your words. To be kind, Giving, Open, Even when your ego doesn’t want to be. PAUSE… To choose more love means bathing in compassion for yourself, And giving compassion freely to others. So take a deep breath in, And let yourself fill with the warm energy of love. PAUSE… Choose more love today. And watch your soul blossom. Watch your world blossom. You can keep them at bay, With the movement of the day. PAUSE… But when the night comes, When you’ve slowed yourself down, The seeds of fear, Grow in your mind, And in your body. PAUSE… Fear arises within your belly, Slowly at first. Little bubbles of discomfort. But as it takes over your mind, Boulders of fear lay upon your chest, Freezing you, And weighing you down. LONG PAUSE… Bring your hand to your chest, sweet one, And touch the fear that’s here. PAUSE… Let the warmth from your hand, Move through the rock, And pass through it easily, Knowing what’s beneath. PAUSE… Your hand can feel the vibrations, Of what’s underneath the fear. PAUSE… The determination arises, As your chest expands to breathe. PAUSE… You can feel the stability, Of your reliable heartbeat. PAUSE… You can feel the promise, Of each new breath. PAUSE… Fear can be here, It doesn’t have to take over. It doesn’t have to blind. It doesn’t have to stay. PAUSE… You are stronger than your fears. LONG PAUSE… Breathe deeply now, Inviting the fresh air to come inside, And clear what’s here. And as you breathe out, Feel your body soften and relax. Another deep breath in, Even bigger than before, Gathering up the heaviness, The thoughts, And then releasing it, Melting yourself even further. PAUSE… Slow your breathing into a gentle rhythm, Coming in deep into your body. PAUSE… Letting the waves of air calm you, Relax you. LONG PAUSE… It may be tempting to look away, And avoid the boulders of fear. PAUSE… It may be tempting to succumb to them, Handing them to your mind, And unleashing their demons, PAUSE… But if you slow down, And take an honest look at what’s here, If you can ask fear what it wants. The heaviness begins to dissolve, And the boulders begin to crumble. LONG PAUSE… Listen for the voice, That tells you it’s fine. That everything will be okay. PAUSE Now see yourself Climbing through the window Completely into the light, Fully enveloped in the gifts Of the light. PAUSE And, while in the light, You acknowledge That a window Can help you let go. And a window Can be climbed through To move forward. Meditation: Cultivating Empathy for Others

But it can be difficult to love others when things are tough or when someone has different values or opinions than we do. To empathize means to understand and share the feelings of others. And when we take the time to truly empathize with others, we can open up a space for compassion and love, even in tough times. And even with those who we disagree. So go ahead and settle in, Resting your eyes shut, And making any adjustments to your body you need to make, And then exhale as you drop into your position. PAUSE… Find your breath, Expanding each inhale and exhale as it slows you down. Breathe, And keep your attention on the rhythm of your body as you breathe in, And breathe out. PAUSE… From this place of calm stillness, See if you can think about someone with whom you’ve had a moment of friction lately. This could be a life partner who recently drove you crazy, Or a work colleague with whom you disagree. A child with whom you can’t see eye to eye, Or even a public figure who has enraged you from afar. PAUSE… As you think about this person, Notice any emotion or judgemental thoughts that come up. Let them gather like rolling storm clouds above you, And every time you breathe out, Imagine that cloud is drifting away, Releasing you from its negativity. Breathe it all out. And keep coming back to the calm stillness inside. PAUSE… Now with the vision of this person in your mind, Clear from the clouds of triggered emotions or judgements, Imagine yourself looking deeply into their eyes. Inside you can see scenes of their humanness. You see this person as a baby, Vulnerable and fresh. Just like you were. You see this person in tears, In a dark and lonely moment. Just like you have been. You see this person hugging someone they love, Just like you have. You see someone’s past shaping their character and worldview, Just as yours has. PAUSE… Be here with this vision for a bit. LONG PAUSE… Bring your hands to your heart as we end with this intention. May I infuse my heart and my actions with empathy for others today, so that I may add more love into the world. They may all be living in you now, Even though they’re from your past. PAUSE Take a moment And sit with the feelings. Acknowledge them Like an observer, While still holding That place of serenity. PAUSE Take a deep breath. Let yourself exhale the guilt, The sadness, The anger, And any other negative emotion Tying you to the past. PAUSE Breathe in again, Only this time, Breathe in forgiveness. Breathe in acceptance. Breathe in the understanding Of letting your past be the past. PAUSE And now draw in one more deep breath, And visualize yourself Turning around in your seat, So that you’re facing the front window. How does it feel? PAUSE Give yourself permission To acknowledge and release Any feelings, Any discomfort That arises. And now, shift your focus To being in the present And looking ahead. What new truth has been revealed? PAUSE Now, visualize a divine light Pouring over your discovery, Bringing it into your awareness In the most positive of ways. PAUSE And as this discovery Sinks into your awareness, Know that the feelings you have Around it are all right. Know that this divine discovery Is positive for you. PAUSE And embrace this gift, For the new understanding of you Shines light into your eyes, Into your heart, Into the world. PAUSE Take a deep breath, and feel it push gently into your center, opening and relaxing it. Keep holding that place of relaxation. PAUSE Imagine, if you can, a time when you felt wronged. Remember it and how you felt. PAUSE And now, imagine a piece of glass, separating you from the feelings that arose from that situation. Take a minute and just observe the feelings from behind the glass. PAUSE As you gaze at the feelings, let the understanding that sometimes they affect you more than you would like come into your awareness. PAUSE It’s all right that the feelings are still there. No matter how long it has been since you were wronged. Because now, you have the power to let them go. PAUSE Imagine breathing onto the glass, so your breath forms a frosty cloud. With your finger, draw a heart in the cloud, and hear a whisper in your ear: “I forgive you from a place of love.” “I forgive you from a place of love.” PAUSE Open your heart to those words even if it feels strange to forgive someone who hurt you. Open your heart to forgive them so that your heart mends. If you need to, blow on the glass again, Do it. And draw your heart again While hearing the whisper: “I forgive you from a place of love.” PAUSE Now, visualize placing your hand over the drawn heart, Capturing it, and placing it over your own heart. Feel the energy of release, as it vibrates in you. Feel the peace that overtakes the hurt. Honor those feelings. PAUSE And, when you’re ready, bring those feelings of peace into the present. Acknowledge them in you now. PAUSE And, as you hold these peaceful feelings in you, Know that the heart in a cloud is with you. That simple image is your key to release the pain of being wronged and to embrace peace and freedom. now and always. This is me, drowning in tasks, I need to come up for some air. PAUSE… All of it swirls, all of it spins, And blends like waves in the sea. The older I get, the more that I love, The perfectly imperfect me. I’ve spent too much time, Wondering if I could, Change some things about me. If only I did this, Or looked that that, The world would see me differently. PAUSE… But time has taught me, That each time I try, To be anything other than me, My soul slowly corrodes, My light slowly dims, And I can no longer see. LONG PAUSE… I’ve been told I’m too much, My dreams are too big, My scars should make me ashamed. Turn down the volume, And stay in your box, So we know you’ve been tamed. PAUSE… But each scar I have, Paints a tapestry, Of my life lived loud and free. I won’t let you tell me, They’re ugly or wrong, I’m proud ‘cause this is me. LONG PAUSE… It rises within, My deep sense of self, And spills out onto the floor. I’ll live my own life, The way I see fit, You don’t have a say anymore. PAUSE… I know there are shadows, Where pain and shame live, The caverns hide so many things. I’ll continue to explore, The landscape within, Knowing the healing it brings. Breathe into them, Visualizing balance in all of them. PAUSE Now, become aware Of your surroundings. What do you hear? Are there people nearby? Pets moving about? Or, is there the noise of silence In the air? PAUSE Breathe. Breathe again. Letting the awareness of yourself And your surroundings Grow within you. PAUSE And as you breathe some more, Give yourself permission To accept this awareness… Awareness of your body. Awareness of your mind. Awareness of your heart. And awareness of the world around you. Meditation: My Best Self

The weight of calm is running down, And melting you at max. PAUSE… She calls you to surrender, Your ego at the door. She asks you to let go of, Who you’ve been before. PAUSE… Your best self calls upon you, She whispers in your ear. She wants you to be able, To live not ruled by fear. PAUSE… So come inside and find your breath, And feel the fateful pull. She waits for you to make a choice, To live your life so full. My best self knows when to move, And when to take a rest. She’s aware of all my boundaries, But pushes me past my best. PAUSE… She always knows the larger truth, What I can’t always see. I am capable of so much more, So many possibilities beyond me. LONG PAUSE… If I sit down and tell the truth, I often keep her at bay. I ignore her voice inside of me, And excuse the thoughts away. PAUSE… Because what she says quite often feels, Like impossible tasks and chores. Not only will they test me, For others, they may cause wars. PAUSE… There’s a mix of fear and wonder, That others have when they, See you as your best self, Creating your own world today. PAUSE… On one hand, some will marvel, At how you blow past your goals. On the other, some will hate you, For exposing their own holes. PAUSE… But as time passes, you will know, That your best self is wise. You’ll see that all of that, Is noise above which you rise. LONG PAUSE… Your best self only wants, For you to live life your way. To push yourself past your limits, And find the joy and play.
