Judge Vance Day - President, Promise Keepers Vance Day is a modern-day profile in courage who strongly believes in helping to raise a generation of leaders equipped to address an ever-changing world. Day graduated magna cum laude from Warner Pacific University in 1984. He studied Biblical Historiography at the Institute of Holy Land Studies in Jerusalem and Public Policy at Regent University before earning his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Willamette University College of Law in 1991. An accomplished trial lawyer, he has tried over 300 bench and jury trials. Vance served the State of Oregon for nearly four years as the Chairman of the Oregon Republican Party. He has lectured on military history and leadership theory at The White House and before members of Congress. In September 2011 Mr. Day was appointed to serve as a Circuit Court Judge in the Third Judicial District, and was electedto a full six-year term in November of 2012. In 2012, Judge Day started a veteran's treatment court in Salem, Oregon. The goal of these courts was to target the root causes of veterans' criminal behavior through a program created collaboratively by the prosecutor, the defense attorney, the judge, other veterans, treatment providers, mentors, and support teams. While Day was running the program, there was a zero rate of recidivism, and beyond that, it transformed lives. One veteran said, "I don't know how much more I can say. I mean he saved my life, you know."[i] In 2014 Judge Day, based on his Christian convictions, quitely recused himself from marrying same-sex couples—a decision that in no way prevented same-sex couples from getting married. As a result, he became the focus of a sustained, vicious attack that sought to end his career, take away his license to practice law, strip him of his possessions, ruin his reputation, and even have him imprisoned. In October 2018, the State's criminal case was dismissed, and the house of cards constructed against Vance collapsed from the weight of its own preposterousness. Vance Day remained a Circuit Court Judge until January 7, 2019, when his term of office expired. In December of 2018, Judge Day joined the leadership team at Promise Keepers as Chief Operating Officer. In June of 2019, Day was elevated by the Board of Directors to the position of President. He also serves as a Member of the Board of Directors and as Promise Keepers General Counsel. Vance and his wife have been married for over 33 years, and are the proud parents of three adult children, and three grandchildren. They live in high desert of Central Oregon. Lieutenant General William G. Boykin, a native of North Carolina, was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Infantry from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1971. His early assignments in conventional units included the 2nd Armored Division, the 101st Airborne Division, and as a company commander in the 24h Infantry Division (Mechanized). Special Operations assignments included positions as: A Platoon Leader and then the Company Executive Officer in 1st Battalion (Ranger) 75th Infantry, Fort Stewart, Georgia; Branch Chief at the Florida Ranger School, Eglin, Florida; and Director for Operations at the Joint Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Additionally, LTG Boykin has served a total of thirteen years in the Special Forces Operational Detachment - Delta, as a Detachment Commander, Staff Officer, Squadron Commander (twice), the Deputy Commander, and finally, as the Commander. In 1994, LTG Boykin was assigned to Washington, D.C. and the Pentagon as the Chief, Special Operations Division, Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff followed by a posting to the Central Intelligence Agency as the Deputy Director of Special Activities and promotion to the rank of Brigadier General. Next, he was assigned to the Army Staff as the Deputy Director for Operations, Readiness, and Mobilization. In 1998, LTG Boykin was assigned to Fort Bragg, North Carolina as the Commanding General, United States Army Special Forces Command. In 2000, he was assigned as the Commanding General, United States Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. In 2003, following the creation of the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence, LTG Boykin was assigned as the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence in charge of Intelligence and Warfighting Support. LTG Boykin earned a Bachelors of Science Degree from Virginia Tech University in education and a Masters Degree from Shippensburg University in Public Administration. He attended the Armed Forces Staff College and the Army War College. Some of LTG Boykin's badges include: the Master Parachutist Badge, the Ranger Tab, and the Special Forces Tab. LTG Boykin is a combat veteran who has participated in numerous operations; some of which include the Iranian Hostage Rescue Mission, Granada, Panama, and with Task Force Ranger in Mogadishu, Somalia. There's a buzz among hunters in the PNW about the reintroduction of wolves into the northwest. A man recently showed me a picture of a wolf track that he said came from the Coast Ridge Range just a few miles west of McMinnville, which is why the story in Rick's book caught my attention! In his book Rick tells about a technique Eskimos use for hunting wolves. They dip a razor-sharp hunting knife in fresh blood and let it freeze. They repeat this process over and over until the knife is coated and looks (and smells) like a tasty blood-sicle. The knife handle is then secured in the ice, ground, or other stable place with the bloody blade exposed. When a wolf finds the knife, he licks the exposed blade with increased passion, as he tastes the thawing blood. Quickly, the blood frenzy he reaches a climax as the wolf's tongue is sliced deeper and deeper through his own blood lust. Intimacy anorexia is relationship disorder that is marked by a lack of intimacy in a relationship. It occurs when someone in a relationship actively withholds emotional, spiritual and sexual intimacy from their spouse or partner. This lack of intimacy harms the marriage, damages the relationship causing pain and loneliness and impacts the spouse or partner significantly. Dr. Douglas Weiss coined the term "intimacy anorexia" when he started seeing a separate, yet related aspect of sexual anorexia in his private psychological counseling practice. He was able to link these cases of sexual anorexia into a broader spectrum of related issues and noted that people engaging in this type of withholding behavior did it for other reasons that those typically associated with sexual anorexia.
