What do you do when life knocks you down? UFC fighter Matt Hughes joined us to tell his story of perseverance despite difficult circumstances. Matt Hughes is widely considered among the greatest fighters in the history of MMA. He is a two-time UFC Welterweight Champion, UFC Hall of Fame inductee, and NJCAA Hall of Fame inductee. Matt ended his UFC career 45-9. During his tenures in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Hughes put together two separate six-fight winning streaks, defeated all the available opposition in the welterweight division, and defended the belt a then-record seven times. In May 2010, Hughes became the eighth inductee into the UFC Hall of Fame. During his reign, Hughes was considered the #1 pound-for-pound mixed martial artist in the world. He was also regarded by many as one of the greatest welterweight fighters of all time, as well as one of the greatest pound-for-pound fighters in the sport's history. In 2008, Hughes published his autobiography, 'Made in America,' which made the New York Times bestseller list. I guess it's your tough outer skin that hides on the softest hearts I have ever known. So, in the presence of my friends and family I would like to take the time to honor you publicly and to thank you. I am so very glad that I didn't have the typical father; I don't know that I would have become the man that I am. You were no Ward Cleaver that's for sure. But I know that no father could love a son more than you did. Ever since I can remember you have told me you love me more than life itself and I have never doubted that. So much of who I am is because of the experience you gave me. I took the best of your qualities and made them a part of who I am and learned from your mistakes, and there were plenty of them as well. We don't always see eye to eye, but you have at least respected my values and beliefs even when they clashed with yours. I can never express my gratitude for the experiences you have given me. You showed me the world through your eyes, our trips around the world expanded my horizons. You always wanted me to see the real side of life but more important than that, you wanted me to experience them. You have never sugar coated or hid the truth and for that I am eternally grateful. So many of my greatest gifts have come from you. You gave me the gift of speech, the ability to be comfortable in any environment, and the confidence to look any man in the eye and consider him my equal. You have taught me to fear no one, except God. You weren't the model Dad, but you were my friend. I always knew that I could tell you the truth about anything and you loved me with all your heart. You gave me a liberal education and made me student of life. What a precious gift. I confess before my friends and family you were the perfect father for me, you were my greatest fan, confidant, and supporter. You loved me and always affirmed me. Dad I love you. I accept you for who you are and thanks for always being there and giving me more than a last name and I will always be there for you. Kenneth Joyner is the director and co-founder of Boys With A Purpose, a nonprofit After-school Mentoring Organization for young boys. The organization has been serving the Charleston, South Carolina area since 2016. Growing up without his father sparked a passion to help young men develop their gifts and to ultimately find their life's purpose. The passion started in 1998 when he led a youth group at his church in Baltimore, Md. Boys to Men was the beginning of a lifelong mission to help build and develop strong young men. In 2016 this journey led him to Memminger Elementary School where he helped to start the organization he now runs. Kenneth structured his book Without A Father: From Fear To Faith, around twenty core principles of being a father figure, which isn't necessarily about being the biological father (although it can be), but it's about playing the role of a father figure. She leads a local group in Portland, Oregon annually every year from September through May. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies. Testing the relationship creates a cracked broken relationship foundation because it is a relationship that based on a test and not commitment Marriage and children will never be convenient. If your marriage is based on this myth you will struggle. It dishonors the woman you are called to protect by parading her around. Statistics prove that it is a BAD idea with 70% of cohabitator divorcing over the already high 50%. Again, the Bible proves itself over the world's wisdom Psychology Today The new study is by Michael Rosenfeld and Katharina Roesler. Their findings suggest that there remains an increased risk for divorce for those living together prior to marriage and that prior studies suggesting the effect went away had a bias toward analyzing shorter versus longer-term effects. They found that living together before marriage was associated with lower odds of divorce in the first year of marriage, but increased odds of divorce in all other years tested, and this finding held across decades of data.
