It doesn’t want to be still. PAUSE… So I lower my shoulders, And slowly deepen my breath. I expand my chest, Imagining my heart opening, As my body melts into relaxation. LONG PAUSE… So much has felt heavy, Like I’m caught in the middle of a storm. The skies might clear for a moment, But then the rain comes down again. PAUSE… All I see are dark skies, The clouds are eerie. I feel each drop saturate me and weigh me down. I’m cold and lost, And all I see is gray. PAUSE… But suddenly, My eyes are clear, And my body comes alive. I look around and realize, There’s beauty in this storm. LONG PAUSE… I raise my hands to the sky, Honoring the drops of life. Watching the water sink into the Earth, Feeding the plants and animals, And flowing into the rivers. PAUSE… I feel the rain on my skin in slow motion. The sensation awakens me, Thrills me. The wind runs through my hair, And makes me feel wild and free. PAUSE… Soon I’m dancing in the rain. Arms outstretched, Head raised high, Legs moving in rhythm. You can use this meditation to start your day, or as many times as you need throughout the day to center yourself. So close your eyes and let’s begin, Settling your body into a position that’s comfortable for you. And go ahead and take your first deep breath in, Feeling the air flowing in through your nose, your chest and your belly. And when you can’t expand anymore, Breathe out, contracting your belly until the very last drop of air is released. One more deep breath in, Imagining the air filling up your entire body with refreshing oxygen, And then releasing all the air out. Bring your breathing to a comfortable, slow rhythm, And be here. Sitting with your breath. PAUSE… Now stay here for a bit. Just you and your breath. With no agenda. No need to figure anything out. Just you and your breath. Here in this moment. The trees rise above you, And cover you safely in their canopy, Allowing in enough sunlight, So you can see the beauty of everything around you. PAUSE… The Earth underneath you is soft and cool. And as you walk slowly, You can feel the electric energy from below, Rise to touch your feet, And infuse you with waves of life. Reminding you that you are one, You and the Earth, You and the trees, You and the air. PAUSE… Smell the air, Its damp fragrance heavy with flowers, Soil, And rain. The symphony of scents relaxes you, And calms you. LONG PAUSE… The whispers of the wind blow through the trees, And each one harmonizes with the next. PAUSE… You hear the crunching of leaves around you, As the tenants of this land move about their day. PAUSE… You breathe in deeply, And take it all in. Feeling safe and alive in this sacred space. Feeling one with the divine, And knowing you are divine yourself. LONG PAUSE… You continue walking through the forest, Slowly, And consciously, Until you come across a small opening. It immediately feels like home, Covered with a soft patch of grass, Surrounded by loving trees who give you shelter. PAUSE… You find your favorite spot, A covered spot in the corner, And lay down on the cool, green grass. PAUSE… Your body quickly relaxes into the Earth, And you can feel the heat of its energy fill you up, And calm you down. PAUSE… You’re safe here. The soft Earth below your feet, All that seems so mundane. PAUSE… Your body and your mind, That function rather well, The laughter and love that surrounds you, The ways in which you excel. Breathe fully, And release. Breathe calmly, And lay back, The darkness will cease. LONG PAUSE… Open up your heart, And open up your mind. Give yourself the chance, To unpack what’s behind. PAUSE… These clouds of darkness play, And fog your inner light. But they’re just here to nudge you, To look at what’s not right. PAUSE… So search yourself for moments, That might have triggered fear, To come inside your head, And spread its darkness here. PAUSE… And as you find these things, That caused this cloud to build. Imagine so much love, Expanding till you’re filled. LONG PAUSE… As you feel the darkened clouds, Dissolve and thin and lift. Notice that your spirit, Can feel a major shift. And the one we must constantly practice over and over again. So, this morning’s meditation will help you let go of the stress, so you can relax into a calm, peaceful state of being. Find a comfortable position and close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, inhaling fresh air in and expanding your belly. And when you can’t breathe in anymore, exhale and breathe the air out of your nose, All the way out. Take one more deep breath in, filling up your chest and your belly with cool, cleansing air, And breathe it all the way out. Bring your breathing to its normal rhythm, And allow your body to relax just a little deeper. Releasing your jaw, Letting your shoulders drop, Letting your arms and legs get heavy and melt further into comfort. And just breathe. PAUSE… With a relaxed body and calm breath, let yourself think about what’s causing you stress right now. It might be a specific person, event or circumstance. Or it could be a combination of many things. Just allow yourself to see it in your mind. Now imagine that this stress, whatever it is, is transformed into a butterfly. You see her fragile wings softly flapping up and down as she stands on your outstretched hand. You look at her, this embodiment of your stress and anxiety, And see her beauty. Her delicateness. Her purpose. And as she perches on the tips of your fingers, She flies away, allowing you to let the stress go. PAUSE… For the next little bit, imagine each bit of stress you are feeling and each emotion along with it as a butterfly. And as you identify each of them, watch as they softly perch on your hand and fly away. Allowing you to let go of the stress, to let go of the anxiety. To let go of the heaviness. Leaving yourself feeling light, calm and peaceful after each butterfly flies away. PAUSE… Let it go. Let it go. PAUSE… There is nothing left for you to stress about. Just let it go and sink deeper into peace. PAUSE… Let the thoughts pass, As you come back to your breath. LONG PAUSE… Now take another full, deep breath in, Gathering up any thoughts, Worries, Or plans, And holding your breath for just a moment at the top. Hold it. And then let it go, Releasing all the air, All the worries, All the thoughts, All the plans, Into the space around you, Watching them dissolve and disappear. PAUSE… Now hold yourself up straight as you breathe in one last big breath, Expanding your spine and releasing the tension within, Imagining all that air rising to the top of your head, And then exhale, Releasing your breath, Calming your mind, And relaxing your body. Letting your attention ride the waves of air going in, And the air going out. PAUSE… Bring your attention onto your belly, Feeling it expand with your inhale, And contract with your exhale. PAUSE… Relax, And find your stillness. PAUSE… Resistance can live as tightness in our bodies, Rapid movement in our minds, Or heaviness in our spirits. LONG PAUSE… Now imagine this gentle cloud expanding, Covering your entire body. PAUSE… Its warmth soothes you, And its waters soften you. PAUSE… Each raindrop falls upon you, Absorbed into your skin, And searches for the dark, Seeks out the pain. PAUSE… No memory can hide. No part of you is invisible. And see if you can imagine that there’s an empty basket sitting beside you. You breathe in and come inside, Searching for anything that might be blocking you. Seek out those emotions, Those ones that are heavy, And steal all your energy. Grab them, And place them in the basket beside you. PAUSE… Now come inside again, And find the stories. The ones that your subconscious created long ago, Protecting you by keeping you small. These stores no longer serve you. So gather them up, And place them in your basket. PAUSE… Come back inside and seek out those limiting beliefs. Any voice you’ve heard that has told you that you can’t, Or that you’re not enough, Or that there’s no way. Gather them up, And place them in the basket. PAUSE… Now breathe in deep, Gathering up anything else inside that is blocking the inspiration from shining within you. And as you exhale, Place all the remaining pieces inside your basket. PAUSE… Breathe here, And notice how light you feel, How clear, How open. And watch as the basket beside you dissolves. PAUSE… You are unblocked, Ready to welcome inspiration. Breath in, And let it flow. You may have been taught to keep yourself small and quiet, to not love too much, to play life safe, to value stability. You may have past experiences when your self-expression resulted in pain for you or others. Ultimately though, it’s all fear, and limiting beliefs. Fear of others’ reactions. Fear of loss. Fear of being judged. Fear of our greatness. Limiting beliefs that tell us that we shouldn’t, couldn’t or can’t. So this morning’s meditation will help you release all of those limitations keeping you from being fully expressed. So relax, Lowering your shoulders, Relaxing your cheeks, And releasing your body into comfort. PAUSE… What fears might exist within you about being fully expressed? LONG PAUSE… What limiting beliefs might you have about your self-expression? LONG PAUSE... Feel deeply into your body, And be here with your soul. Allow yourself to simply observe the answers that arise, With love and compassion. LONG PAUSE… Now become aware of your breathing. And on every breath out, See if you can imagine all those fears, And all those limiting beliefs, Exiting your body through your outbreath. PAUSE… Breath in and locate those limits, Breathe out and free yourself from them, Watching them disappear into the air around you. LONG PAUSE... Continue breathing here for a bit, Consciously releasing all those limiting beliefs, All those fears that are blocking your self-expression. Until everything has dissolved. PAUSE… Now bring your attention back deep into the center of you. Feeling light. Spacious. And free to be you.
