Pastor Chat: I was watching a reel of a very famous actress who has been married and divorced multiple times, and each time, her marriage was destructive. She was explaining that her stance is that people shouldn't criticize her for not being able to keep a man because if she realizes she made a mistake, she wants the freedom to correct it by ending the marriage and moving on to another one. While she has the right to recognize her mistakes and attempt to fix them, the issue is that marriage was never meant to be a trial-and-error process. Many people, whether dating or married, treat marriage as if it's something to experiment with—thinking, "Let me try this and see what happens. If it doesn't work out, I'll just do it again." But that's not how God designed marriage. Marriage was intended to be a lifelong commitment—at most, twice, if a spouse passes away. If we approached the decision of whom to marry with the understanding that it is a one-time choice meant to last a lifetime, we would make wiser decisions. It's similar to being a 16-year-old excited to start driving. Imagine your parents telling you that instead of getting a "first" car, you're getting the "only" car you'll have for the rest of your life. How carefully would you choose? If it were just a first car, most teenagers would go for one that looks good and drives fast, not thinking about longevity. But if they knew it had to last forever, they would prioritize durability over appearance. In the same way, if we treated marriage as a permanent commitment rather than a trial run, we would make more thoughtful choices. Pastor Chat: The greatest attack on marriage that Satan has orchestrated is creating loneliness within it. Many married couples feel isolated—they're not having sex, not engaging in meaningful conversations, living like roommates, constantly arguing, and struggling to like each other. This leads to a deep sense of loneliness. This destruction is so significant because, when God created the first marriage between the first man and woman, He declared that it was not good for man to be alone. He designed marriage to provide companionship and to combat loneliness. When a husband and wife feel lonely within their marriage, Satan has successfully undermined one of the original purposes God intended for marriage. If you're married, take action. Don't let Satan win. Go to your spouse, express your love, seek to reconnect, rebuild your friendship, spend quality time together, and restore intimacy. You and your spouse were created to be companions, never to experience loneliness together. Don't allow Satan to bring isolation into your marriage. Daily Study: A religion is a belief system that explains life to its followers. Every human and every culture has a religion. For example, one belief system says that humans evolved from lower life forms. Another belief system says humans can have sex with whomever they desire without rules. As Christians we have a belief system that explains how God created us and how He expects us to live. Our biggest challenge is to not allow the culture we live in to convert us to their religion because following their religion removes the power God has given us through Jesus Christ. Sunday Service: In our current social media culture, many Christians are judging each other over various theological and cultural issues, which makes Christians look bad and causes believers to walk away from the faith and non-believers to be less open to hearing the gospel. Thus, this is an important issue for us to gain a biblical understanding of when we should or shouldn't judge other believers. On Wednesday, we had a great open forum at CFE, discussing current events in America, particularly the unprecedented actions of President Trump and the anxiety they are causing for some members. We had a meaningful conversation about navigating these times and reflected on how this season resembles some of the signs mentioned in the New Testament regarding the return of Christ. While I'm not saying Christ is coming back tomorrow, certain prophesied events seem to be unfolding, giving this time a significant spiritual atmosphere. During our discussion, we reassured everyone to stay calm and remember that God is with us. Even though this year may be chaotic, it is still the Year of Believe—Believe 2025, where we continue to trust in God's promises for our lives and remain in faith regardless of what is happening around us. This Sunday, we have our next online service, where we'll explore the topic: "Should You Judge Other Believers?" If so, when is it appropriate, and when is it not? Right now, within the body of Christ, social media has become a battleground of judgment, with believers criticizing one another over doctrinal differences. This has caused confusion, division, and hurt feelings, with videos circulating back and forth. We will turn to scripture to determine whether this behavior is appropriate and gain a biblical understanding of how we should approach these issues. Looking ahead, our next in-person gathering in Atlanta will be on March 15th at 10 a.m. EST. If you're in the area, I look forward to seeing you. If you live elsewhere, consider making the trip. These gatherings take place on the third Saturday of each month, so I hope to see you at one in the future. In other news, we successfully launched at least one CFE group last week, and today I received an email from another couple interested in starting one. I'm excited to see these groups growing. You can use the CFE name along with your city or location and access our technology for organization. I believe every CFE member should lead a group of believers. One of our greatest responsibilities as the body of Christ is to make disciples. The best way to do this is by gathering together, studying the Word, fellowshipping, and supporting one another. Discipleship happens when believers spend time together. Daily Study: We have to be careful about hearing lies about ourselves from others. Maybe your parents or teachers have told you that you would never amount to anything. Or perhaps an ex-spouse said that you had no value. Mentally we know the lies are false, but subconsciously these lies become embedded in our spirit and affect our decisions. Ministry Update On this week's ministry update, I don't have much to share. Everything is moving as planned and progressing nicely. I'm recording this update the night before our next gathering in Atlanta. Every third Saturday, we gather in Atlanta for our CFE monthly gatherings. These gatherings are designed not just for those who live in Atlanta but for anyone worldwide who is part of CFE. Tomorrow's message—or today, depending on when you listen to this update—will focus on what I got wrong in marriage and the lessons God showed me on how to fix it. This message won't just be from me. My wife will be sharing alongside me, and a few other couples will also share their experiences. My goal for these gatherings, particularly regarding the message, is to keep them conversational, engaging, and interactive. Sunday Service: Confusion about giving arises from mixing Old and New Covenant principles. In the Old Covenant, giving was mandatory, with specific rules and a quid pro quo system—blessings followed giving. In the New Covenant, we are blessed through Christ, and giving is an act of love, not obligation. Both covenants distinguish between supporting ministers and helping those in need. Giving under the New Covenant activates the law of seedtime and harvest, where God increases what we have to meet our needs and enable further generosity. In the early church, giving was direct—ministers were supported by those they served, and the church did not act as a financial middleman to those in need. Today's focus on giving to "the church" creates confusion, which could be reduced by returning to the early church model. Ministry Updates Today, Saturday Feb 8, 2025, I'm speaking a Singles Valentine's event for one of our CFE members. They're hosting the event here in Atlanta, so my wife and I will be ministering on relationships to the singles. Tomorrow, for Sunday service, I'll be ministering on biblical giving from a New Testament perspective. There's a lot of misunderstanding about what giving looks like and what it means to honor God with your money. I feel led to bring some clarification on this topic from a New Testament standpoint. Next Saturday, Feb 15, 2025, is our first gathering in Atlanta. This gathering is not just for CFE members in Atlanta but for our entire CFE family. It marks the start of our monthly gatherings, which will take place every third Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. With this great proliferation of voices, you are bound to hear minsters say something that you perceive to be false doctrine or just straight up lies. Weekly Ministry Update This week, I want to share two important ministry updates. First, we had a discipleship group leader training last night. About 25 people joined us as we went through the scriptural foundation for starting CFE discipleship groups and the structure for these groups. The training went really well, and I'm excited to see the new discipleship groups that will emerge from these leaders. If you missed the training, a replay will be available. Simply listen to the replay, go through our discipleship manual, start Faith Leaders Ministry School, and you can start a group as soon as the next day. You don't need 10 hours or 10 weeks of training—just follow the Holy Spirit's leading and get started when He prompts you. We are here to support you, so be sure to watch the replay to understand the heart behind what we're doing. The second update is about the Atlanta gatherings, which will take place every third Saturday of the month. This has been on my heart for a long time, but I hesitated to move forward. After closing the Atlanta church last September, I wasn't sure if I wanted to commit to a regular monthly meeting. However, the Holy Spirit kept leading me back to it, and I now feel strongly that this is something I need to do. These gatherings are for both local and out-of-town members. Whether you live in Atlanta, Philadelphia, London, or anywhere else, think of it as 12 opportunities each year to visit Atlanta and connect with other CFE family members from around the world. If you plan to attend a particular month, let me know so I can prepare to welcome you. The first gathering will be on Saturday, February 15, from 10 AM to 1 PM Eastern Standard Time. These three-hour meetings will provide plenty of time for fellowship, studying the Word, and building relationships. Since we only meet once a month, it's a great opportunity to slow down, connect, and grow together. That's what's on my heart for this week's update. Daily Study: Do you pray because you are supposed to? Do you go to church because you feel you have to? Do you tithe or give because you think you're robbing God if you don't? I know I've done these things and felt this way before. This is because I used to be a performance Christian, meaning I would do things out of obligation. If I didn't pray enough, give enough, or go to church enough, I felt condemned. However, after studying the Word and gaining insight from the Holy Spirit, I've learned that performance Christianity doesn't produce faith or bring me closer to God. Sunday Service: God created us to pursue our calling, not to focus on meeting our own needs. Originally, God provided for us, freeing us to pursue our calling. After sin, mankind shifted to working for provision as a result of the curse. Jesus came to restore us to God's original design, where we focus on our calling while trusting God to provide. Provision instructions address our temporary needs, but our calling solves a specific problem for the benefit of others and makes a difference in people's lives and communities. Hey, CFE family! In this week's ministry update, I want to focus on the importance of monthly discipleship meetings. I encourage every member of CFE to join a discipleship group that meets at least once a month in their local area. These groups don't have to be large—three to five people is enough. The goal is to gather with fellow believers in your community to study the Word and fellowship together. This practice reflects how the early church grew and matured spiritually. Their growth wasn't dependent on large Sunday services with thousands in attendance. Instead, they met regularly in small groups, studying the Word, praying, and building each other up through close fellowship. This year, I encourage all of us, myself included, to prioritize meeting with local believers at least once a month. These gatherings don't need to be complicated. They can take place in someone's home, at a coffee shop, or anywhere you can connect, open the Word, and fellowship together. To support this effort, I will host discipleship training on Friday for those interested in leading these groups.
