Becoming a Better Salesperson

The truth is, people that sell the best, the most statistically successful salespeople, are the ones that have shifted the paradigm of value. They understand what I call the 100/20 rule. The 100/20 rule is a belief that you are providing more value than your client is asking for. Think about it. How easy would it be to trade a $100 bill in exchange for a $20 bill? If your job was to do that all day, how would you do it? That is the essence of sales: Provide more value than you ask for. When you give more than you receive, you create a void for the universe to fill. Not only that but providing value to others helps you get what you want more rapidly and accurately. The key is how much do you believe or carry the energy that you are exchanging a $100 bill for a $20 bill? Too many salespeople have fears, voids, shortages, and obstacles. They don't believe in what they're selling. They're trying to fill a void because they believe that they're exchanging a $20 for $100 bill. That is no way to be successful in sales. You need confidence in yourself and confidence in the value of what you're selling. When it comes to value, what people love most is getting things for free. Period. There are so many promotional products, free t-shirts, giveaways, and other items used to stimulate consumer interest. Free is what grabs an audience's attention.

It Doesn't Matter if Someone Steals Your Idea

Today's episode is advice I gave to a young woman who was seeking advice on her business partner who's worried about having his ideas stolen. If you believe in scarcity and your own self-interest, then that is what you will manifest. But if you truly believe in the universe, if you truly believe in abundance, then there is enough of everything for everyone, you will attract what you desire more accurately and rapidly.

Breaking Your Bad Habits

I receive a lot of questions how to build good habits or how to break bad ones. The answer is the same - pick 3 things, skills, habits, etc that you want to learn and dedicate a minimum amount of time every single day. You don’t need them to consume your day, simply set a minimum everyday and focus in on it. There is an exponential result when you focus on doing something every single day. Conversely, if you keep attracting bad habits into your life focus on what you’re doing everyday to attract it to yourself.

Your Ego is the Enemy

Choosing to detach from an outcome, can seem extremely conflictual, and it is hard for people to understand. One of the common questions I get is this: “How do you have goals yet remain detached from an outcome?” The truth is, I’m very driven toward the goals I set. I try to take my ego and time, two driving factors for many, out of my goal setting. What I do is this: I set a goal, and at the same time, I detach my happiness from the goal. I do not create an immediate plan to get to my goal. My plan, when I start out, is simply to provide value toward that overall goal every single day, making sure I put forth a minimum amount of effort toward the achievements I want and “raising the bar” each day as I proceed, in order to build momentum.

Trust and Verify | Road to Revenue #74

Knowing who to trust is key for not only business success, but personal success, as well. What I use in order to make the determination on which people to believe (and invest in) is a two-step process that I call trust and vet. Distrusting everyone is no way to approach life and the same can be said about blindly trusting everyone, but I prefer to take a more positive perspective to start. Give people the benefit of doubt when you initially interact, rather than taking a skeptic approach to those you meet. The #1 Common Denominator of Success

Perform a self-evaluation. Think about how much time per day you are committed to the pursuit of your potential. Are you consistent? Are you persistent? Do you need to improve in these areas? Consistency is a massively important because it allows you to focus on what you want. Focusing on a goal and working toward it every day allows you to utilize the power of intention. That focus yields exponential growth and results. You need to do something every day in order to be great at it. Meditate, use gratitude, practice a skill, work on a relationship, tell somebody that you love and appreciate them. Each of those activities can take as little as 30 seconds a day, if you are efficient, and make a resounding impact in your life. (Consistent) drive for dough My favorite example to use when it comes to consistency is golf. If you play golf 30 minutes every single day, you'll be far better than someone who plays one of two rounds on the weekends. In fact, people who play six hours on the weekend are often worse after one year compared to those who consistently practice. There are many examples of this in sports, people who push on despite being told "no" again and again. They stick to their guns, whether it be during one game, one season or an entire career, and it pays off in the end. Persistence in business: These same principles hold true for all of the successful entrepreneurs we've come to know. Individuals like Walt Disney and Henry Ford all had lived in the consistent, persistent enjoyment of the pursuit of their potential, pushing past the many difficulties they faced. You will always run into obstacles, voids and shortages along the way. Sticking to your goals every single day will allow you to increase your enjoyment of that pursuit. In order to reach your potential, it is essential to be consistent and persistent in the enjoyment of the pursuit of it.

The Lessons That Changed My Life

Whether you have nothing or a 40-million-dollar home in Newport Beach, there will always be people who live as if there’s not enough. Then there’s the world of “just enough.” That world blends scarcity with abundance. Even people who are generous will trade rather than give—they’ll give, but they will always expect something in return. The world I’m trying to manifest is a world of “more than enough,” where people are living in truth and consciousness. I have five different rules for businesses looking to live in this world of more than enough: 1 - Know your personal giving and receiving values. Evaluate those four things every day. 2 - Learn to ask a series of questions to learn how you can provide value to every person in every situation. 3 - Learn a series of questions with which you can ask for help—which is the most difficult and radically humble thing. I lost over $100 million by not asking for help, and my world changed when I learned how to ask the right questions. 4 - Study with a lens of productivity, accessibility, and gratitude what you are doing every day. Study your sleep. Study your calendar and figure out what’s urgent, and what you can delegate to someone else. 5 - Practice ending fear. When you feel like you’re on fire, stop, drop, and roll. Figure out why you feel that way. When we do these things, we’re more successful and happier.

How to Get Rid of Negative Thoughts

How important is it to “Cancel” negative thoughts? Scientists say we have between 12,000 to 50,000 thoughts in a day, and our mind takes the negative approach to things 70% of the time. Globally speaking, since we must use our free will to connect to source or goodness, your mind, naturally, thinks about what you don’t have, what you can’t do. Not to get too scientific and I am in no way a biology expert, but I learned that the amygdala in the brain modulates the release of cortisol and other stress hormones, creating anxiety and fear. Anxiety is created by the unknown and other future-based factors, and is the usual cause of the cortisol release. Like a high-octane drink, cortisol gives us the energy jolt needed to overcome an emergency, but everything in life seemingly has become an emergency. Our brains now keep us on DEFCOM 5 alert with constant cortisol production resulting in serious health problems like high blood pressure and glucose levels. Even more damaging is the negative energy it attracts. Common sense tells us that chain drinking high-octane beverages will prove to be detrimental to our health. Similarly, we need to tell our brains to stop producing excessive levels of cortisol and start producing serotonin, which does all kinds of wonderful things for creativity, happiness and health. This is the scientific reason why we need to turn our thoughts around and make them positive and clear. This will reduce your anxiety and keep you open to learning.

How to Train, Coach, and Mentor Your Team | Road to Revenue #72

When people used to ask me the difference between a trainer, coach, and a mentor, I used to joke that the difference was the prices and the certifications. Now, I define what it means to be an effective trainer, coach, and mentor differently. I define a (good) coach as someone who is able to bring the best out of you (and those around you). A trainer also wants to bring the best out of you, but they typically have a narrower area of focus and often work one-on-one. A mentor is someone who gives you the best of themselves, whether that is their knowledge, relationships, or even motivation. How to Attract What You Want in Life

Have you ever been in a personal or business situation where you thought you understood what was going on only to gain clarity later as to what the situation was all about, and it was nothing like you perceived it to be? You must be clear on what you want in order to create the velocity to put through your new value-based stable foundation. And what is velocity? This is the energy expended in stimulating the universe, which creates the efficiency of attracting. It is utilizing the abundant power of the universe in the most efficient manner to manifest and attract those things you desire faster by being connected to source, or “in the flow”. What is the flow of energy or being connected? Have you ever been on a basketball court and every shot from every angle you’ve put up has gone in? Being in “the zone” is the sports analogy to being “in the flow”. When you’re in the flow of the universe, you just know it. You are in harmony and peace with the universe”
