Ep 620620: Selling the love

We are talking about selling for love. I’ll explain. Two examples. Ever seen a GREAT movie that just wowed you? It made you feel great and you just wanted EVERYONE to experience it and benefit? You told everyone? Second example, imagine you have a loved one who is dying from a rare disease, your beloved spouse or parent, and you divinely meet someone who had the same issue but found an alternative treatment that is somewhat risky but literally cured the issue and saved their life, and you went to your loved one and fervently, unabashedly tried to sell them on doing it? Get the idea? In both cases you were selling, though you never thought of it that way. You were simply caring for others and trying to help them out of love. Well, Zig Ziglar loved sales. He placed sales people on a pedestal next to pastors. At least those who did it...right. Which is having a product or service you truly know will serve people well and selling it to those who need it out of care and love. I play a four minute clip from Zig that drives this point home. From it I posted this question on Facebook, “What do you sell that you feel is out of love for the person who really needs it?” We of course got great responses and Tom Ziglar and I read through them. Tom shared so many great stories as we read through the comments, you will get so much from this show. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Ep 619619: Pete Vargas has a stage for your story, message and success

We are talking about your story and your stage and we have a master with us...Pete Vargas. First though, you must know that Zig Ziglar came to fame primarily due to just that...his story and many, many stages. His main platform was live speaking events, but he impacted man more through audios and books. But He was a master of his stage. So here’s the deal, we all have a stage with our businesses. How do we capitalize with them? So to Pete Vargas. Ziglar is helping promote his upcoming workshops, but of course I’m digging into his personal story, which is significant. A quick bio...Pete is Founder and CEO of Advance Your Reach. If you look on Facebook he has an amazing amount of people, from famous folks you’d know to those who have attended his events...who sing his praises, to put it mildly. . Since 2003, he and his team have booked over 25,000 stages worldwide–and generated tens of millions of dollars of revenue through those stages. Pete has booked legendary speakers including Ryan Deiss, and Shark Tank’s Daymond John. He’s also shared stages with titans such as Michael Phelps, Robert Cialdini, Howie Mandel, and Brendon Burchard.Pete believes that your Signature Talk is the most powerful marketing tool you have and that stages are the fastest way to grow your business. Pete is the expert in knowing what to say on stage, how to identify and win the right stages, and how to scale the stage–generating revenue and impact. Through years of testing, he’s perfected the “Stage to Scale” system that has helped so many others land speaking engagements and leverage stages to grow their businesses and organizations. He has an event coming up Oct. 18, 2018 “The Power of the One Hour Launch”. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Ep 618618: What have you achieved while still being scared?

Let’s talk about how you have overcome lacking confidence, being scared and insecure, and you achieved something anyway. In show 615 we talked with Jessica Honegger about this issue, and I just couldn’t leave Jessica’s message on “going scared”, from her book “Imperfect Courage” - Live a life of purpose leaving comfort and going scared. So I posted this question on Facebook, "What is something you were lacking confidence in...a bit scared...insecure, but you did it anyway? And what made you do it anyway?" This question brought a high volume of responses, and I had Jessica join me to talk through them! It was just a wowing conversation that I believe you’ll get massive inspiration from. Ep 617617: Reframing your perspective - Habits with Jessica Honegger

Back with Jessica Honegger to hear her healthy habits for life. We had our main interview with Jessica in show 615. She is founder of Noonday Collection, the largest fair-trade jewelry company in the worldand author of “ IMPERFECT COURAGE: LIVE A LIFE OF PURPOSE BY LEAVING COMFORT AND GOING SCARED”. I really enjoyed talking through her healthy habits and what resonated with me most was her mental spoke habit of “reframing”. That exercise is so dramatically powerful. My wife is currently reading through “imperfect courage” and loving it. You can Connect with Jessica at https://jessicahonegger.com/ where you can get the book, though of course you can get it wherever you buy books. Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 616616: Resources to change your self image

Resources that help change your self image! Zig Ziglar gives us a fairly serious message on how vital and profound...the picture we have of ourselves is. And the key to our success is changing...improving...elevating that picture. Believing more for ourselves. From this message I posted this question on Facebook, "What has been a primary resource that has helped CHANGE your self image for the better? That has truly improved how you view yourself and what you believe yourself to be capable of?" The responses were...really in depth. So in depth that I’ve switched the format of the show. I’m doing it solo, no co host. So I can devote the time primarily, to just sharing with you...what others so openly and vulnerably shared. We had a wide variety of resources that people cited for changing their self image. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Ep 615615: Jessica Honegger, how to go scared

We tackle the idea of...going scared. If you are waiting to NOT be scared, to not have fear, before proceeding in any direction, we have a gift for you. Go anyway. Because the “no fear” concept is basically a myth. The spoils go to those who have fear and just go forward anyway. Which brings us to our guest, Jessica Honegger who recently launched a book titled, “ IMPERFECT COURAGE: LIVE A LIFE OF PURPOSE BY LEAVING COMFORT AND GOING SCARED”. And she writes from experience. She is the founder of Noonday Collection, the largest fair-trade jewelry company in the world. She knows first hand about going big while being scared, which you’ll hear in the show. She was empowered by seeing women in some of the hardest conditions in impoverished nations...produce great works. From that her heart and perspective for others is...there is a World of need and you are the solution to the problems you see. So get off the couch and walk out your front door into the possibilities. As a female founder and co-CEO of a big company, we also get into the topic of women and what they deal with in the workplace and combating the very real issue of the Woman's place being in the home. It was a candid, fun and enlightening talk. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Ep 614614: How can you hit a target you can’t see?

We are talking about how to hit targets that you can’t see. The answer is...you can’t. Zig gives a short story about how he can teach you to beat a top archer, and of course makes a poignant point. From his message, I asked this question on Facebook: “Will you name a goal you have for yourself in some or all of these areas below, and name the WHY behind it?”1. Physical2. Family3. Mental4. Financial5. Spiritual6. Career7. Personal (fun, play, adventure) I actually went first to set up the structure, stating the goal of what I wanted to do, SO THAT I would achieve what end. We had a lot of really in depth comments. You’ll get much out of listening, there were such tangible ideas that will help you set your own goals. Tom Ziglar talked through them with me. Ep 613613: Choosing passion for his personal well being - Habits with Ben Feder

The healthy habits of Ben Feder, our guest in show 611. If you’ll remember, Ben was at the top of the corporate ladder and...left it. He took his family to Bali for a year to find themselves. Now he’s back, and back on top of the corporate ladder, but doing it differently. His habits won’t sound like your normal C suite executive, as they include yoga, meditation, tithing and compassion as leaders for his personal and business life. Such a paradigm shifting perspective. Check out his book, "Take Off Your Shoes" Corporate Takeover, Spiritual Makeover.” at benfederauthor.com or wherever you buy books! Ep 612612: How do you lift your spirits?

What you do to get your spirits up? The question comes from a Zig Ziglar story of a seminar he did, where they had a doctor take blood from participants before and after his two hour talk. The results after showed a big increase in endorphins and dopamine. Now the point wasn't simply HIS talks, but what positive-input does to our physical bodies. I play the two minute story from Zig, and then I posted this question on Facebook, “What activities do you proactively engage in or with to energize yourself mentally?” In a sense, what do you frequently do to “lift your spirits?” The responses were really varied, it was incredibly interesting to read through...which Tom Ziglar and I did together. Ep 611611: Ben Feder quit to truly begin

Talking about...quitting. Quitting In order to really get started. We go on a journey with a guy who did just that. Ben Feder climbed the corporate ladder to a big career, big income and in many ways, big success. But it had a cost...his family, relationships, health...the normal stuff we reference a lot but few people do anything about it. Ben was CEO of Take Two interactive, the publisher of the smash video game hits Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto, and NBA 2K. At the top of his career. And...he walked away. Took his four kids out of school and moved his family to Bali for a year. He found himself, his family and a message he’s now sharing with the world in his new book, Take Off Your Shoes: One Man's Journey from the Boardroom to Bali and Back. But it’s interesting. Today he is President of International Partnerships for the U.S. at Tencent Games, a massive chinese conglomerate that publishes video games. You’d think he would have come back and started a farm or something, but he went back to what he knows...big corporate business. But he went back...differently. Which you’ll hear in the show. The big takeaway is the power of living deliberately. And we cover the issue of...not everyone can up and move to another country and not work for a year. But you can take a “sabbatical of the mind” and much more. You can see more from Ben at https://benfederauthor.com/ Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Ep 610610: How do you want people to think of you?

We ask a big question..."What do you want people to think of when they hear your name?" The question came from show 607 with Lisa Grimes, in the section where we discussed creating your personal brand. I was so enamored with the question, I decided to use it for this weekly facebook question, and asked Lisa to come back and talk through the comments with me. But I took the question further and split it into a two part question, because I think we all may have two truthful answers. 1) how does your base ego want people to think of you, and 2) how does your more mature, altruistic and I'll say "righteous-self" want people to think of you? I actually did a little video on Facebook to pose the question, and gave my own answers. Over 500 people watched the video and we got a lot of interesting comments that took us down some amazing roads, including some of the unique challenges men and women face regarding...how they are perceived. It’s a powerful exercise we really challenged everyone to do. You won’t want to miss our discussion and all the comments submitted. You can join these weekly discussions and submit your own comments and feedback by finding and friending me on Facebook at agentkmiller, I’d be delighted to connect with you there and get your perspective. Ep 609609: Connecting with others - Habits with Lisa Grimes

The habits of Lisa Grimes, my guest in show 607. Lisa has a new book she co-authored with Paula Brown Stafford titled…”Remember Who You Are: Achieve Success. Create Balance. Experience Fulfillment. As a refresher, Lisa’s focus is living life meaningfully and on purpose, and being connected to other people. She’s spent 33 years in corporate America with roles in management, sales and business development and multiple stints as CEO of large companies. She’s also been an entrepreneur, spent a decade as a decorator, and…adopted a child who was deaf and mute after being told she couldn’t have children. She’s been a busy woman and it’s enlightening to hear the habitual things she does to keep herself well. Check this out, she suffers from osteoarthritis and had her stem cells injected into her joints, making her the first person in the world do have ever done so in her hands! She's also done it in both knees. She also has the gift of hospitality, which lends itself to her belief in the high value of connecting with others, in personal life and in business. I’ve probably spent over 3 hours on the phone with Lisa in the past week, she is just an intriguing person who has experienced so much Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Ep 608608: How do you strengthen yourself?

We look at the concept of how we stay up and positive instead of low and negative. Zig Ziglar gives us a short message, telling us of how often people told him, “Zig, I was feeling so down, I was so low, then I read your books or listened to your messages again and got back up!” While that is great, Zig asks, “Wouldn't it be better to be continually working to stay up and not get so low to begin with? He states, “It’s easier to stay up, than to get up!” Before you question whether this is realistic, have you heard this quote from Zig? “People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing - that's why we recommend it daily.”Truly, think about it. Do you take a shower and then wait multiple days until your hair is greasy and you have really rank b.o. Before you shower again? Or do you kind of...keep on top of it? If you go to a place of employment everyday, or...if you’re married, I’ll bet you tend to personal hygiene daily. Well, Zig is calling us to tend to our motivational hygiene, daily. Before our attitude gets greasy and rank. So...from his message I asked this question, “What do you do, consistently, to strengthen and prepare yourself 1) Physically, 2) Mentally and 3) Emotionally to be well and better withstand life’s challenges? Then, if you’d also state 4) Which area you struggle with most.” We got loads of responses and Tom Ziglar and i talked through them. Ep 607607: Lisa Grimes, remember who you are

In this show we are talking about you. And charging you with remembering, who...you...are. And if you don’t know, figuring it out. My guest is Lisa Grimes and the title of the book she coauthored with Paula Brown Stafford is...Remember Who You Are: Achieve Success. Create Balance. Experience Fulfillment. Lisa and Paula co-authored the book and jointy run a consulting firm called Habergeon which you can find at habergeon.com/ Lisa’s focus is living life meaningfully and on purpose, and being connected to other people. She’s spent 33 years in corporate America with roles in management, sales and business development and multiple stints as CEO of large companies. She’s also been an entrepreneur, spent a decade as a decorator, and…adopted a child who is deaf and mute after being told she couldn’t have children. We cover a lot of ground, and give direct and candid focus to some of the challenges women in the workplace face. We dig into some of the big and volatile issues between men and women in the workplace. Tons of value for all, but you ladies especially will want to hear this...and guys, share with your wives or women you care about! I think many women will get significant comfort and freedom from what Lisa shares. And...I make some callouts to us Dads to...step up our game. Ep 606606: Writing the ultimate goal for your life

We look at a dramatic exercise...writing your eulogy. Which in essence is...not merely writing out a goal or goals, but the goal you have for your life! That...is daunting, as you’ll hear. So I got the idea from Jesse Cole, who was my guest in show 603. Jesse is the author of “Find Your Yellow Tux” and the guy who is reinventing baseball. But most importantly, he is giving joy to so, so many people. But as you’ll hear, or you already heard, in show 603, I started off citing what Jesse starts his book off with, his eulogy. And it just impacted me. So...I wrote my own. It wasn’t easy. Then I asked our Facebook group to write their and post it. And I asked Jesse to come back and join me to talk through them. We got a lot of responses, but they weren’t all eulogies. Many just commented on the concept, positively and negatively. What I came to from it all, was I believe...profound. You can listen and decide for yourself. I want to give a premise though...Check this out: in business, we give great focus to our brand, as we should. It’s the image people have of our companies. We go to great lengths to say what our brand is, but ultimately we can’t claim what our brand truly is, the marketplace will say what our brand is, in truth. We work to influence them, but they have the final say. Same with our eulogy. One day one will be given for us, at our funeral. What will people say? The deal is…we have between now and then to influence…what will be said. And just like a goal, the best way to hit our target is to decide what we want it to be...then to write it down and keep it before us. As of this recording, US Senator John McCain died just days ago, and before his death he requested that former presidents Barack Obama and George W Bush deliver eulogies at his funeral. They will testify to who they viewed him to be. It’s a big deal folks. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Ep 605605: What can you be the best at - Habits with Jesse Cole

We are back with the yellow tux man himself, Jesse Cole, who keeps his baseball team and stadium sold out over a year out and is out to change the face of baseball. How? By not making it about baseball, but about entertainment, experience, relationships and memories. Our main interview with him was in show #603 on how to stand out and be different...and how placing your relationships first...are such massive opportunities for success. In this show we follow the seven spokes in the Ziglar Wheel of Life and find out Jesse’s habits for success. He runs everyday but struggles with his nutrition, which I would too if my life was in a baseball stadium surrounded by hotdogs and nachos! He writes 10 ideas per day to further grow that muscle in his brain, and if you listen to show 603 you will realize the guy is an idea factory! You’ll also hear he and his wife weathered going from zero debt and living in their dream house to $1.8 million in debt. But have now come out on top. It’s a great conversation folks. Ep 604604: Do you need more info or more faith and motivation?

We have an important question for you to consider in regards to...what do you most need now to help your personal progress? we listen to a clip from Zig Ziglar on having a positive mental attitude. And he brings up the issue of increasing performance...regardless of increasing knowledge. Which begged a great question that I posted on Facebook, "For your current, personal progress, do you feel you need to 1) Learn new information to increase your skills and abilities, or need to 2) Improve your confidence/attitude/faith/motivation in order to increase your skills and abilities?" We had a tremendous response and Tom Ziglar and I talked through the comments. Really intriguing, you’ll want to join us for sure. Ep 603603: Jesse Cole - you can’t be the best but you must be different

You are about to get convicted on the need to...stand out from the crowd. There are very few things where you can honestly say you are the best. But you can always find a way to be different. You must. So I have a treat for you. A guy who did it in an amazing way...with a low level baseball team. It’s a movie worthy story. I attended Social Media Marketing World in San Diego in early 2018 and saw this guy walking by in...a bright yellow tux. I think you could have seen him from outer space. And my mom says, “Oh, I’ve got to introduce you to Jesse! We walk over and get an introduction to...Jesse Cole. Later I get the story from my Dad. Jesse took a college league baseball team in Savannah Georgia that was having maybe a couple hundred people attend a given game, and...he went nuts. He decided to make the event about family and entertainment, with a little baseball thrown in. A couple short years later, they pack out EVERY game with over 4,000 people and are sold out a year ahead! He has two teams now and much more coming in the future. It’s just an amazing, and true story. Kind of where the truth is stranger and more glorious than fiction. Going from a nice living to going a million in debt and living on ramen noodles, literally, to now being poised to change baseball as we know it. Really, you’ve got to hear what is happening. But what’s best is, you’ll smile and be massively inspired. Jesse has inspired me...to do some things differently. Better. Invest in relationships more. You’ll want to hear this. Ep 602602: Where did you learn character, morality and ethics?

Zig Ziglar asks a question that is gigantic, “What makes a person successful?” His message is from on stage and he actually asks a live audience and lists down their responses. And from it of course, makes a dramatic point. You’ll have to listen to the show to find out what it is! But from the message I posted on Facebook, this question., “Where did you learn about…character? Morality? Ethics? The greatest values in life that school doesn’t teach?” And if you have a story about a time when you were not well schooled in these areas and incurred challenges as a result, please share.” The amount of responses put it in the top five, so we obviously hit a nerve. Ep 601601: Less stress and more restoration - Habits with Chalene Johnson

Back with Chalene Johnson, our guest from show 599. This time we walk through her healthy habits in the 7 spokes of The Ziglar Wheel of Life. Chalene is one of the top influencers in the health and wellness arena and holds the Guiness Book of World Records...record, for starring in the most fitness videos of anyone on planet earth. That’s a lot of exercise and sweat in front of a camera...while smiling. But in this show, What you’ll find of interest is that she, the queen of fitness, had to deal with a major decline in her health. You’ll hear why, and how she changed to deal with it. It’s what led her to develop her 131method.com approach to individualized diets. Not a temporary diet though, a diet for life, specifically engineered for you. But it’s about much more than nutrition and physical wellness, Chalene is out to inspire people’s true performance, just like Zig Ziglar. In this show I appreciated Chalene divulging she’s an “outgoing introvert”, and her statement that in our pursuits and endeavors, we seldom stop to ask ourselves how we want the initiative to make us feel? How do we want to feel as a result? That perspective really wowed me, as you’ll hear in our talk. It was a fun and significant conversation you’ll want to hear. 600: Getting ourselves to change

Change. That’s our topic in this show. We hear a message from...Zig Ziglar. He’s talking about making personal change, and the great challenge it is. And that it requires us to do things differently, or do different things, if we ever want to get different results. From his message I posted this question on Facebook, “Change is hard and procrastination is powerful. Please tell us about something that happened in your life that caused you to change or increase your performance.” There were many comments specifically on dealing with procrastination. Ep 599599: Chalene Johnson - mastering how you do it

Here is a lady who has two top podcasts in two different categories, health and business. And let me make an admission up front, I was expecting a hard charging, authoritative personality. I personally vet the guests we have on the Ziglar show, but occasionally I’ll get a strong recommendation from someone for a guest and end up talking with them when I don’t have a lot of personal exposure with them. Well, Chalene Johnson exceeded my expectations. Truly. She’s incredibly down to earth and authentic and what I found was it’s the reason she has such massive influence. We recorded the main interview in about an hour and our Habits interview in about 30 minutes. Then...we continued talking about mutual interests and experiences amidst health and wellness and personal development for another hour and half. Chalene is a giant in the health and wellness industry. She’s had over 20 million downloads of her podcasts, is the NY Times bestselling author of the book PUSH. Tens of millions of people around the globe have transformed their bodies and their lives with her help, and her fitness programs have been featured in gyms and on TV for more than 12 years. Check this out, she holds he Guiness Book World Record for having starred in the most...fitness videos. Chalene has designed several number-one ranked fitness and diet programs for industry giants, including Beachbody, the creators of p90x, Insanity, Turbo Jam and more. But this is really interesting. Several years ago, Chalene began to suffer a steady decline in her health that included debilitating brain fog, mood swings, and chronic pain and injuries. This led her to question the diet and fitness industries’ definition of health. She taught herself to read scientific studies, as well as how to search for, find, question, and evaluate research. The story just begins there...it’s a massively intriguing show. Towards the end of the show you’ll hear us talk about a brand new program she’s launched that I am a fan of. It’s at 131method.com and she’s out to debunk dieting and the idea there is any one program that fits everyone. I’m in 100% agreement. It’s a very personal strategy and she helps with this at 131 method. Join chalene at 131method.com for your own health progress journey. Ep 598598: Who do you want to save?

A classic message from Zig Ziglar, an analogy he didn’t write, but he shared in such a tangible, profound way. It’s actually been used prolifically as the story of the sand dollar, and also with a starfish. As you’ll hear, Zig’s version uses the sand dollar. It’s a message that balances seeming futility with...salvation. You may well know the story, and that’s ok. Few deliver it like Zig, but the point is...dramatic. From the message, I posted this question on Facebook, “For those who truly view their work as their mission, who specifically are you devoted to saving, and how?” I’ll disclose right up front, I received far less than half the number of responses I’m used to. Why? I can’t say for sure. My inclination that i talk about in the show with Tom, is that many people don’t have an answer to this question. There were some great replies and Tom and I talked through a number of them, but we also had some in depth discussion on the topics of serving, purpose and finding fulfillment in work. I truly think you’ll get much out of this show. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Ep 597597: Ed DeCosta says your habits create you.

Back with executive coach Ed DeCosta, our guest in show 591. This time we go behind the scenes to get his personal habits for success, following the seven spokes on the Ziglar Wheel of Life. I really appreciated his statement of “we create habits and they create us”. I’ve repeated that multiples times since our conversation. Ep 596596: Do problems or goals motivate you?

We are discussing a very relevant paradigm shift on the topic of goals. Chances are you’ve had “goals” pounded into you for many years. And the term goals may or may not inspire you...and due to that, you may even feel guilty for not being motivated to have, set and focus on...goals. Sounds blasphemous coming from The Ziglar Show, the veritable kingdom of goals! Isn’t that a primary term Zig Ziglar is known for? Yes, it is. But what you’ll hear in this show is that the point of goals is getting to an end result. And the truth is, more people are motivated by...solving problems. It’s not mere semantics or a play with words, it’s truly foundational regarding how you set your course and achieve...anything. We kick off with a four minute clip from...Tom Ziglar! This was derived from a discussion I had with him and he was talking about this aspect of “goal” driven or “problem” driven. I had never heard it this way and really resonated with the concept, and said we needed to do a show on it. So here it is. From Tom’s four minute message I posted this question on Facebook, “ “Are you more motivated by achieving goals, or solving problems?" We got a boat load of responses, and they lined up precisely to the percentage Tom shares in his message regarding how many of us are goal or problem driven, it was amazing. Tom and I talked through a number of them. You’ll want to join us in this show. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Simple and uber powerful, but not easy. In this show we follow the 7 spokes of the Ziglar Wheel of Life and hear what healthy habits Ryan employs to keep him succeeding and achieving and overcoming. You’ll hear how he had a big health scare at the age of 30 when he was diagnosed with juvenile type 1 diabetes. Yes, you heard that right. Ep 594594: How do you treat yourself like a high performer?

A short message from Zig Zigalr where he asks the question, “If you owned a million dollar race horse, would you keep it up half the night, giving it booze, cigarettes and junk food? And if you did, how many races would it win? Would you treat your dog or cat that way? What about...yourself. It’s a short, hard hitting message. From it we asked on Facebook, this question, “What are three key ways you take good care of your physical and mental well-being, treating yourself like a high-valued performer?" We got a truck load of responses. Tom Ziglar shared our own “keys” and read through a lot of responses. Ep 593593: Ryan Levesque is solving all the world’s problems

This show is for all of you who have a product or service to offer...or who want to someday. You, like me, are working hard to create something people want, right? You build and create something, then go out and offer it to the world! And hope...you got it right. What if you could just ASK people what they want, then provide it to them as they exchange millions of their dollars for what you have to offer? Today we talk with Ryan Levesque. He’s become famous with his Ask Method. However, it’s not really that easy. To ask people what they want, assumes they know what they want. And we often don’t. We usually don’t...not fully. But we do know...what we don’t want. Or we know what problems we deal with that we wish would be solved. That is the punchline. Kind of. You also can’t just ask anyone...not even anyone in your audience or demographic. You have to ask the right people. So we have an incredibly simple concept, that is not super easy to figure out. But if you do...when you do...it has proven to be a magic touch. In this conversation, we first hear Ryan’s story, what took him from a young guy studying neuroscience...because his parents wanted him to get a “secure degree”, to making 6 figures for a big insurance company, to ditching it all to sell jewelry from China made out of Scrabble pieces and origami, to a few more things and then to significant fame and success with his ASK Method, which we get into because it’s just...brilliant. Actually, I’d really implore you to go see what he’s doing in his once in a year offering by going to askmethod.com/ziglar . You’ll find the majority of the entire Ziglar team participating, but as students. Ryan has used the ASK Method to help build multi-million dollar businesses in 23 different industries, generating over $100 million dollars in sales in the process and his student entrepreneurs have used the ASK Method in thousands of different industries to launch and scale their businesses online. Ep 592592: You are at the top when...

Zig gives us his perspective on what it means to not only get to the top, but go...over the top. This is a significant charge from Zig that comes from a meaningful personal experience in his life. It is a heart and paradigm change on success. From it he gave us a list of 15 ideals that he believes are signs of being “over the top”. I took all 15 and posted them on Facebook asking folks, “Where is your Achilles’ heel? Below are 15 points from Zig Ziglar. I’m sure many of you, like me, are doing well in many of these areas. I’m asking…which of the 15 do you feel you struggle with most? Don’t take too long, try to answer with your gut reaction. I’ll go first.” Tom Ziglar and I talked through all the responses and started off by sharing our own Achilles’ heel, you may be surprised to hear what Tom’s is. Learn more about your ad choices. 591: Ed DeCosta on killing self-limiting gremlins

Let’s talk about getting you to your full potential. Literally our topics in this show are dealing with your inner critic, imaginary obstacles and self limiting beliefs. The real culprits between our desires and actually taking action towards them...are generally those three “gremlins” as our guest would say. That guest is Ed DeCosta, an author and executive coach. He works with C level executives, giving them a safe place to talk about their...gremlins. The fears and insecurities and limiting issues in their own psyche. This gives him profound insights into real life issues that hold people, even those top performers, back. It’s incredibly eye opening folks. A bit more about Ed...Ed DeCosta is author of ‘Ascend’: A Coach’s Roadmap For Taking Your Performance To New Heights, and ‘Release Your Superhero’: How To Shed the Villains and Soar in Business and in Life. Ep 590590: Believe in what you’re selling

We hear from Zig Ziglar on a message about the necessity to truly believe in what you are selling. Literally, the product or service you are selling, you must be a customer of yourself and fully believe in if you want to succeed in selling it. It’s a great, personal story Zig shares from his own sales experience in a 3.5 min clip. From the message I posted this question on Facebook, QUESTION: “Do you sell a product or service that you are a customer of? And if you are in an MLM company, did you or would you truly buy it if you weren’t involved in the business side?” We got a lot of responses, and a lot from MLM folks, which will make for an interesting conversation. Ep 588588: Zig on Focus, Planning & Prep

Zig Ziglar on the power of focus, planning and preparation. I’ll tell you, I’m admittedly NOT a great planner and preparer, I just want to go from idea to selling it. And for focus, my wife the brain researcher says I’m classic ADHD, though I won’t let them test me. However, to achieve success, you’ve got to have some focus, planning and prep. So I asked this question on Facebook, “Planning is necessary. But for those of you who do NOT enjoy planning and preparing (like me) and are just eager to get to the doing, what tools, strategies or habits do you use to help with your needed planning and preparations?” We had great comments and ideas to this and I talked through them with my co host Michelle Prince. Ep 587587: John O’Leary on not living accidentally

We are discussing, not letting time and life just slip by. We bring back John O’Leary, the author of the NY Times bestselling book ON FIRE: The 7 Choices to Ignite a Radically Inspired Life, and host of Live Inspired Podcast – a top iTunes & Inc. Magazine, business podcast – and highly sought-after speaker. John was badly burnt on 100% of his body and should have died. Today he says if he could go back, he’d let it all happen as it did. In this show we got to talking about many of us...maybe most...being at a handicap because we HAVEN’T had a significant tragedy happen to us that keeps us from taking life and time for granted. We fall into inactivity and what John has coined “accidental living”. It’s a very convicting discussion folks. Sometimes we want to discount someone who we think had a benefit we didn’t. Well, having a gas can blow you up as a kid, JOhn feels may just be that...a benefit. The point is not to go blow yourself up. It’s to realize that you may be allowing comfort and ease to steal your glory. Which begs the question of...what to do about it. Well, listen in the the show and hear what John has to say. Ep 586586: Hope is the greatest motivation

We are talking about motivation. Without adequate motivation, we do nothing. Literally, we’d never get out of bed. The only reason we do anything at all is due to motive. So what will increase our motives? In this show today we hear a 1.5 min message from Zig Ziglar on what he believes to be the number one source of motivation - hope. Now you can hope for any number of things, but the key is not those things, but the hope itself - the reality of you actually expecting something to be possible and come to pass. The danger of course is when you DON’T actually have hope. We have an ever increasing amount of depression and even suicide in our culture today. I’m not a doctor or psychiatrist folks, admittedly. But I’m a student of humans and their behavior and I’ll wager there is little depression or suicide when there is actual hope. So this message is a big one. Now from Zig’s message, I posted on Facebook this question, “What are you looking forward to, right now, that is a daily motivation?” you can join in these weekly discussions by friending me on Facebook, find me at agentkmiller. Ep 583583: Larry North - follow your own rules

Sometimes we go into business for ourselves because we have a unique product or service we want to bring to market. Sometimes we just find immense difficulty in working for others. In either case, we find ourselves in a place were we get to, or must…make up the rules. That’s much of our focus in today’s show.Larry North is a TX boy and a fan and friend of Ziglar who has spoken at Ziglar HQ multiple times. Larry started his first business at age 20, and it’s not a simple story, which is just the kind we love to hear most. Larry was told he’d never be able to land a top career position, and that his personality was unmanageable. So as you heard in the intro, he realized to have a great career he’d have to own his own business and follow his own rules. Larry had a vision and faith, but no tangible resources. But he started the first of what became many health clubs. He also had a media career started shortly after that by arriving on talk radio where he performed for over 25 years. Shortly after that his best selling infomercial became one of the most popular weight loss infomercials ever. Three books, a chain of health clubs, and thousands of TV appearances and live presentations here and abroad have turned Larry North into a household name in fitness, weight loss, and health. He continues to spread his motivational messages and wisdom to dozens of fortune 500 companies and just about anyone who will listen. We had a great conversation on some nitty gritty issues regarding his personal progress. I found it really interesting that he’s in the health club business, he spends most of his time around people trying to make some of the hardest progress there is...with our bodies. Losing weight and gaining muscle take commitment. There’s probably not a more volatile industry out there. A constant stream of successes and failures. You’ll get much from this. This is our habits show and it made for an interesting walk through the 7 spokes on the ziglar wheel of life as we discussed the habits of both Ken and Claire. Ken is a grandparent, Claire is a young mom. He comes from Zig’s generation, Claire is from the technology world. Few people don’t know Ken Blanchard, he needs little introduction as the renowned author of the acclaimed One Minute Manager book, and scores of others. That made you want to really become better?” We got just stellar, real life stories that Tom Ziglar and I talked through. But let me right up front address the issue that comes to mind for many people who are thinking, “That is great, of course encouragement and recognition are powerful, but you can’t make people encourage you!” Well, we talk about this. But the case for later afternoon or evening exercise is there are fewer injuries, the exercise is less effortful and people tend to enjoy it more. And your performance and speed will be better later in the day. Interesting to me as I hit the weights or the road to run at 6:30am every morning. I always enjoy hearing the habits of researchers.
