Ep 590590: Believe in what you’re selling

We hear from Zig Ziglar on a message about the necessity to truly believe in what you are selling. Literally, the product or service you are selling, you must be a customer of yourself and fully believe in if you want to succeed in selling it. It’s a great, personal story Zig shares from his own sales experience in a 3.5 min clip. From the message I posted this question on Facebook, QUESTION: “Do you sell a product or service that you are a customer of? And if you are in an MLM company, did you or would you truly buy it if you weren’t involved in the business side?” We got a lot of responses, and a lot from MLM folks, which will make for an interesting conversation. Ep 589589: Prescribing love letters everyday - Habits with John O'Leary

We are back with John O’Leary, our amazing guest from show 587. Here we hear about his daily habits for success, following the 7 spokes in the Ziglar Wheel of Life. You’ll hear that he writes a love letter to his wife...every day, and how it’s changed his perception of her. And that he “Works like a dog so he can play like a puppy.” It was a great conversation. Ep 588588: Zig on Focus, Planning & Prep

Zig Ziglar on the power of focus, planning and preparation. I’ll tell you, I’m admittedly NOT a great planner and preparer, I just want to go from idea to selling it. And for focus, my wife the brain researcher says I’m classic ADHD, though I won’t let them test me. However, to achieve success, you’ve got to have some focus, planning and prep. So I asked this question on Facebook, “Planning is necessary. But for those of you who do NOT enjoy planning and preparing (like me) and are just eager to get to the doing, what tools, strategies or habits do you use to help with your needed planning and preparations?” We had great comments and ideas to this and I talked through them with my co host Michelle Prince. Ep 587587: John O’Leary on not living accidentally

We are discussing, not letting time and life just slip by. We bring back John O’Leary, the author of the NY Times bestselling book ON FIRE: The 7 Choices to Ignite a Radically Inspired Life, and host of Live Inspired Podcast – a top iTunes & Inc. Magazine, business podcast – and highly sought-after speaker. John was badly burnt on 100% of his body and should have died. Today he says if he could go back, he’d let it all happen as it did. In this show we got to talking about many of us...maybe most...being at a handicap because we HAVEN’T had a significant tragedy happen to us that keeps us from taking life and time for granted. We fall into inactivity and what John has coined “accidental living”. It’s a very convicting discussion folks. Sometimes we want to discount someone who we think had a benefit we didn’t. Well, having a gas can blow you up as a kid, JOhn feels may just be that...a benefit. The point is not to go blow yourself up. It’s to realize that you may be allowing comfort and ease to steal your glory. Which begs the question of...what to do about it. Well, listen in the the show and hear what John has to say. John is also inviting Ziglar listeners to his new LIVE INSPIRED, IN STUDIO, with John O’Leary –an online community of like-minded-friends who do life together + get inspired with John via LIVE webcast once a month. Ep 586586: Hope is the greatest motivation

We are talking about motivation. Without adequate motivation, we do nothing. Literally, we’d never get out of bed. The only reason we do anything at all is due to motive. So what will increase our motives? In this show today we hear a 1.5 min message from Zig Ziglar on what he believes to be the number one source of motivation - hope. Now you can hope for any number of things, but the key is not those things, but the hope itself - the reality of you actually expecting something to be possible and come to pass. The danger of course is when you DON’T actually have hope. We have an ever increasing amount of depression and even suicide in our culture today. I’m not a doctor or psychiatrist folks, admittedly. But I’m a student of humans and their behavior and I’ll wager there is little depression or suicide when there is actual hope. So this message is a big one. Now from Zig’s message, I posted on Facebook this question, “What are you looking forward to, right now, that is a daily motivation?” you can join in these weekly discussions by friending me on Facebook, find me at agentkmiller. Of course we received great feedback and I talked through it with my frequent co-host, Michelle Prince. I’m sure you will resonate with much that was shared. Learn more about your ad choices. 584: Price vs Cost - sell your lifetime value

If you have a product, service or message you believe is worth more than just the lowest price, you will want to hear this message. We have a message from Zig Ziglar about the difference in price vs cost. From it I posted our weekly facebook question at my agentkmiller facebook page where I invite you to join in. The question was “For those of you involved in providing a premium product or service (meaning, not just selling on the cheapest price), how do you sell the higher cost value?” I had Michelle Prince join me to talk through the comments, as she spends so much of her time helping authors differentiate their books and offer them in a compelling way. Ep 583583: Larry North - follow your own rules

Sometimes we go into business for ourselves because we have a unique product or service we want to bring to market. Sometimes we just find immense difficulty in working for others. In either case, we find ourselves in a place were we get to, or must…make up the rules. That’s much of our focus in today’s show.Larry North is a TX boy and a fan and friend of Ziglar who has spoken at Ziglar HQ multiple times. Larry started his first business at age 20, and it’s not a simple story, which is just the kind we love to hear most. Larry was told he’d never be able to land a top career position, and that his personality was unmanageable. So as you heard in the intro, he realized to have a great career he’d have to own his own business and follow his own rules. Larry had a vision and faith, but no tangible resources. But he started the first of what became many health clubs. He also had a media career started shortly after that by arriving on talk radio where he performed for over 25 years. Shortly after that his best selling infomercial became one of the most popular weight loss infomercials ever. Three books, a chain of health clubs, and thousands of TV appearances and live presentations here and abroad have turned Larry North into a household name in fitness, weight loss, and health. He continues to spread his motivational messages and wisdom to dozens of fortune 500 companies and just about anyone who will listen. We had a great conversation on some nitty gritty issues regarding his personal progress. I found it really interesting that he’s in the health club business, he spends most of his time around people trying to make some of the hardest progress there is...with our bodies. Losing weight and gaining muscle take commitment. There’s probably not a more volatile industry out there. A constant stream of successes and failures. You’ll get much from this. Ep 581581: Ken Blanchard & Claire Diaz-Ortiz - Habits

We’re back with our duo of Ken Blanchard and Claire Diaz-Ortiz, our guest from show 579 where we talked about mentoring. This is our habits show and it made for an interesting walk through the 7 spokes on the ziglar wheel of life as we discussed the habits of both Ken and Claire. Ken is a grandparent, Claire is a young mom. He comes from Zig’s generation, Claire is from the technology world. Few people don’t know Ken Blanchard, he needs little introduction as the renowned author of the acclaimed One Minute Manager book, and scores of others. Ken shared the stage with Zig Ziglar many times and is an influencer of Zig Ziglar’s generation and on Zig’s level. Now Claire Diaz-Ortiz is an author, speaker and innovation advisor who was an early employee at Twitter. She was named one of the 100 Most Creative People in Business by Fast Company and called “The Woman Who Got the Pope on Twitter” by Wired, how’s that for a claim! Clair is the award-winning author of eight books that have been published in more than a dozen countries. But the cool story here is...Ken asked Claire to co-author a book with him: One Minute Mentoring - How to Find and Work With a Mentor - and Why You’ll Benefit from Being One.’ Ken asked Claire because he not only personally mentors her, but she in turn mentors him in regards to the younger generation. 580: Solving problems in your life

We hear a message from Zig Ziglar on direction. The power and necessity if you want to make progress, of determining the direction you want to go in your life. To have a vision and a game plan. From this message I asked this question on Facebook, “Where in your life do you have any specific goals in mind that you are working towards? 1) Physical, 2) Family, 3) Education, 4) Financial, 5) Spiritual, 6) Career, 7) Experiences, 8) Other”. Tom Ziglar and I talked through the responses, and Tom shared a paradigm shifting perspective on goals...in replacing that with “problems”. It was the first time I’d heard the concept and I think it will give new life to many of you as it did me, in looking at the things we desire to achieve or better in our lives. Ep 578578: How to get the encouragement you need

We hear from Zig Ziglar talking about the power of encouragement in our lives. From Zig’s message I asked on Facebook, “Have you ever received specific recognition or encouragement that literally elevated your perception of yourself? That made you want to really become better?” We got just stellar, real life stories that Tom Ziglar and I talked through. But let me right up front address the issue that comes to mind for many people who are thinking, “That is great, of course encouragement and recognition are powerful, but you can’t make people encourage you!” Well, we talk about this. Tom Ziglar actually has 4 key points on how to get encouragement that we cover right at the end of the show. Of course we talk about GIVING encouragement. But this isn’t just a topic around a good thing to do, it’s about a vital ingredient we need and can have. Be intrigued by that statement, and join us. Ep 577577: Best times for healthy habits - Habits with Dan Pink

We are back with renowned author Dan Pink to hear about his habits in the 7 spokes of the Ziglar wheel of life. Of course with his focus on perfect timing...in talking about what he does for his physical health, it was intriguing to hear his study shows morning exercise is better for losing weight and habit formation and gives good mood boost. But the case for later afternoon or evening exercise is there are fewer injuries, the exercise is less effortful and people tend to enjoy it more. And your performance and speed will be better later in the day. Interesting to me as I hit the weights or the road to run at 6:30am every morning. I always enjoy hearing the habits of researchers. Our main interview with Dan was in show 575. Get his new book, When: The scientific secrets of perfect timing” at danpink.com or wherever you buy books. Perfect Timing. Literally, when the best time is to do certain, daily activities. When it’s best to have certain types of conversations. When is the best time to do...just about anything. It’s amazing and comes from the research of our guest, highly acclaimed author Dan Pink. He’s the author of six provocative books — including his newest, When: The Scientific Secrets of Perfect Timing. His other books include the long-running New York Times bestseller A Whole New Mind and the #1 New York Times bestsellers Drive and To Sell is Human. Ep 572572: How to relate to others with value

Today we don’t just hear a message from Zig Ziglar, we get 5 star training in relationship skills that empower us with the greatest asset a person can have. He is talking about sales and prospects. In our life, anyone we want to influence or connect to is in essence, a prospect, and we are the salesperson. To a great degree, every engagement with a human is a sale. The definition of a good sale is an exchange of value, which should be equal. If it’s one sided it’s a con. So in your personal interactions with others, is it a win-win event? Do you both get value? Do people seek you out or avoid you or...can just take or leave you? Do you provide value to the relationships in your life? Would you like to have more meaningful relationships? Be more sought after and attractive? Good relationship builders are NOT born, they are made. How much training have you done? This message folks, is training. This is why Secrets of Closing the Sale changed so many people’s lives. It was about life more than mere sales. This 8.5 minutes is the boiled down cliff notes. It’s worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, and here you get it free. From the message, I asked on Facebook where I invite you to join at agentkmiller, this question - “What valuable insight have you realized or received that has helped you in relating to other people well, whether personal or in business?” Incredible comments that Tom and I talked through at length. Ep 571571: Chris Hogan - Make the most of now

We are talking about making the most of the time you have and that your beginning is now! I have a conversation with Chris Hogan. Many know Chris as one of the primary personalities with Dave Ramsey. Chris’s has a bestselling book and a popular podcast titled “Retire Inspired”, but, and this is not just to entice everyone to hear the show, but I have zero thoughts about retirement, I’m young! But Chris shared a message I needed to hear. He talks planning ahead and getting the most value out of our days, and you’ll hear a very acute and personal story involving one of his kids with a chronic issue that makes this topic very acute for Chris, his family, his life and his mission. A clip from Zig Ziglar, longer than normal, over six minutes. But we just couldn’t cut it more because it’s golden. Zig talks to us about the power of our attitudes and how the number one high octane fuel to support our positive attitude is - gratitude. From this I asked this QUESTION on Facebook: “I need some stories on “gratitude”, but want to hear from two sides: 1) tell me a time when you used gratitude to successfully change your attitude about something, OR 2) tell me when you realized there wasn’t enough to be grateful for and you made a needed change.” Tom Ziglar and I talked through the incredible comments and really covered a lot of ground regarding getting rid of negative perspectives and either changing your paradigm with gratitude, or when necessary, changing the circumstances. From it I asked on Facebook, where you can join the discussion, just friend me at agentkmiller, this QUESTION: “How has your faith in God or a higher calling tangibly benefited your physical, financial or career/business success?” That’s a big question, and yes, it brought up some controversy. Some thinking I was pushing a prosperity gospel. But most shared events in their lives where their faith came into play and testimony to the blessings. Ep 567567: Eben Pagan - How to harness opportunity

We are talking about opportunity and having a conversation with Eben Pagan who just launched his new book, called…’Opportunity’! Eben Pagan is a guy I (Kevin) met twenty years ago amidst a new real estate marketing program. He was innovating then, and he still is today. He’s an entrepreneur and investor who has built over ten different online brands and businesses to the million dollar level. His businesses are all 100% virtual, with no office - for over 15 years now. Eben and his family spend more than six months per year traveling, and living the “virtual lifestyle.” In his new book, OPPORTUNITY, Eben explains how opportunity is changing, why it is increasing for all of us, and how to find and create more high quality opportunities for yourself and your business. The book is about how to find and create opportunities in your business and your life. It summarizes twenty years of mindsets, models, and methods for dealing with the explosion of opportunities that are coming our way in the future. Understanding opportunity is at the heart of succeeding as an entrepreneur. And Eben’s goal is to help people understand the nature of opportunity, so they can find, create and take advantage of a lot more of it in their lives. It was a great conversation and of course we started off by getting some of Eben’s background, including his hippie parents and living in poverty that motivated him to do more. Ep 565565: The fastest way to success - Habits with Tom Ziglar

Today we go through the habits of, well, if Zig Ziglar is the king of successful habits, then Tom Ziglar is the crown prince. Tom is renowned for answering a candid question given to him on stage at a presentation of, “What is the fastest way to success”, with “Replace a bad habit with a good habit.” Straightforward and radically profound. So today we talk through the 7 spokes on the Ziglar wheel of life and hear Tom Ziglar’s daily habits for success. Such things as; he has reverted to a low carb diet and his first meal of the day is lunch. He commits to 7 hours of sleep per night and feels it is what fuels his willpower. He writes one sentence per day to his daughter, his reflections, that he will be giving her at Christmas as a gift. Every day starts off with two chairs, one for him, one for god, he talks to God for one minute and listen for four! Then he fills his mind with uplifting material (big surprise here, eh?!). Ep 563563: Tom Ziglar - How to transform yourself

A new message from Zig Ziglarsss - son! Tom Ziglar, CEO of Ziglar. It’s called the Trinity of Transformation. If you were just fine with your life as it is now and had no desire for any change, you wouldn’t be here listening now. We are all here because we want to be more, do more and have more. For ourselves and for others. Even if you have no personal desire for yourself and only want to help and serve others, you’ll get no further and be no help unless you better yourself. This requires...transformation. Here is who you are today, where do you want to be tomorrow? And that’s the point folks, anything you want to do and have first starts with who you are. You can’t do and have anything beyond who you are...and what you’re capable of. This is the root cause issue, and Tom brings us the 3 key ingredients he’s witnessed in his lifetime at the epicenter of personal development and human achievement. Ep 562562: Write your dreams down - Habits with Nick Vujicic

This is our habits show and we walk through the 7 spokes on The Ziglar Wheel of Life. Some highlights of Nick’s struggles and healthy habits: Physically he’s thankful for the holy spirit and caffeine! He only eats 2 meals per day, more veggies, but he’s an admitted carnivore. No sweets, bread or dairy. He and his family grow much of their food and live off their land. He had a pretty deep financial crisis and learned that just because you have a vision and resources from God, it doesn’t always mean you have to move forward right now. He has a 10 year plan that took him three hours to create, with help. And 3% of his life has to be a gamble! But he doesn’t invent, he innovates! It was rich, as you can tell. A truly amazing, amazing man. We all come into or end up in this world with some challenges. Just because someone else’s challenges might seem bigger, it doesn’t negate our own. We all want to know how to deal with them better. With more joy, peace and success, right? Well, we have a guy who is flat out anointed in this area. Nick Vujicic was born with no arms and no legs. Stop and think about that for a minute. What could you do with no arms and no legs? What hope would you have. Yet Nick is one of the most sought after speakers on the planet, often getting 100 speaking requests per week. Literally. Why? Because he’s one of the most overcoming, inspirational people you will have ever heard. More than 10 million follow him on social media, and his Youtube videos have over 600 million views. But it’s real world stuff folks. He almost committed suicide. This isn’t some pollyanna face on hardship. Ep 560560: Feel the pain but don’t walk forward in it

Zig Ziglar talks about positive thinking. We play a clip where Zig dispels the motivational statement of “you cannot do anything with positive thinking,” and gives some funny examples to prove the point. But, he then comes back with the truth that “you can do everything better with positive thinking than you can with negative thinking,” and of course drives home a convicting message. From this I posted on my agentkmiller Facebook page, where you are welcome to friend me so you can join in the conversation, “How do you balance positive thinking and optimism with literal hard circumstances and allowing yourself to feel negative emotions?” We wanted to really hear, because we are human and even with the truth in our face, life can still be difficult, especially in a challenging moment. As you can imagine, really in depth answers that we bet you’ll resonate with. Michelle Prince and Kevin Miller talked through the comments for a rich conversation. Learn more about your ad choices.
