Ep 709709: Secure your day by saving your morning - Habits with Hal Elrod
We can’t hear it enough, the quality and routine of our morning is the primary indicator of our success for the day. Yet the fact remains that the majority of people, even aspiring people like the Ziglar Show listeners, do not have a healthy routine to start the morning. In show 707 I brought you Hal Elrod, bestselling phenomenon of the book The Miracle Morning. In this show we walk through the seven spokes of the Ziglar Wheel of Life with Hal and hear his personal habits for success. He has some significant, unique habits in all areas, but it’s hard to not highlight what he cited for the Mental spoke, and it’s his routine he coined SAVERS: silence, affirmations, visualization, exercise, reading, and scribing, that he attributes his primary success to. I’ve had a solid morning routine for a couple years now, but Hal has inspired me to more...because I want even more out of my day. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Ep 708708: Reclaim extra time, attention and peace from that thief in your pocket
There is a relatively new thief that is stealing our time, attention and literally...peace. It’s crept up on us. Even a decade ago you’d never stand in line and see everyone starting at a little screen in their hand. They were looking around, noticing the world around them. Maybe talking with someone. At lunch you just talked with whoever you were with, the only distractions being other people in the restaurant or a possible phone call to your cell phone. Now we find a constant companion on our smart phone that we as a culture rarely ignore for more than 5-10 minutes at at time. The smartphone made a seemingly benight entrance into our lives but has now commanded a literal cultural shift. What started with text messages has now ballooned to over 2.2 million apps. Enough to keep your attention 24 hours a day. Though it’s just a handful of social media apps that command the lion’s share. The question is, how are you doing? Do you control your device time or is it controlling you? I went to the Ziglar audience and asked them, “Have you done anything to limit your smartphone usage? Have you found yourself being distracted by it?” Most cited steps they are taking to limit their time and many admitted to the very real struggle and how they are finding it’s much more than a time-waster, but a literal depth-of-life culprit. I brought an expert on the show with me, Cal Newport, our computer science professor and best selling author from show 703. The conversation went immediately into some major issues affecting us at the hands of big business who makes money the more they get us looking at these screens. It was inspiring to hear what some have gained back now that they’ve put limits on their phones. You’ll get some great ideas from this show on how you can better manage your smartphone usage, and what the positive pay off truly is! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Ep 707707: What makes us finally take action on our desires - with Hal Elrod
Hal Elrod has influenced millions of people with the message of his bestselling book, “The Miracle Morning.” What’s intriguing is his concern with inspiring so many people, but not being satisfied with how many were taking real action as a result of the inspiration. His latest book is the Miracle Equation and it tackles these issues. Hal almost died twice, once from a head on collision with a drunk driver, then from a rare form of aggressive cancer. The principles that helped him come back stronger from both accidents is what fuels his guidance for us in our everyday lives to finally take the necessary steps toward achieving the things we honestly desire. The discussion on overcoming negative emotions alone is worth the listen, it’s flat out profound. Ep 706706: 10 Commandments of Human Relations by Zig Ziglar
What is more valuable than having human relations skills? Maybe...nothing. The quality of your relationships, the quantity of your relationships, and the joy in your relationships is equal to your human relations abilities. Along the way, we all learn some basics and out of Zig Ziglar’s 10 Commandments of Human Relations, you are probably doing some of them well, and benefiting from them. But where are you not doing well, and suffering? Or at least not benefiting where you could. We play a four minute clip from Zig Ziglar where he quickly takes us down his list. Judging that Zig is held up as one of the very top, most successful communicators of all time, the list feels fairly irrefutable. I asked the Ziglar audience, which of Zig’s 10 commandments do you most succeed with and which ones do you most struggle with? Tom Ziglar joined me to talk through your comments. I’ll tell you this right off, the area people are weakest in, nearly 50%, said they failed at remembering and calling people by their names! Zig’s rule number three. But listen on and you will want to hear the rest. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Ep 705705: Be so good they can’t ignore you - the habits of Cal Newport
Steve Martin’s career guidance in his memoir, “Born Standing Up”, is to be so good they can’t ignore you. Ivy league computer science professor Cal Newport took it to heart. So much so that he wrote a best selling book with that title! Cal was my featured guest in show 703 where we discussed his book Deep Work and his latest book, Digital Minimalism. In this episode he shares his habits for success. Cal is one of the more influential personalities of...today’s influencers. Some of what you’ll hear is, Cal is a follower of Michael Pollan and Mark Sisson and primal eating and exercising. He's big into cognitive fitness and the reality that the brain is a muscle that needs to be worked out consistently. He's a fan of multiple streams of income and literally states he never trusts one stream of income. His best career advice, we already covered! He seeks high quality leisure and plays guitar in some bands. All in all, not the picture you might have of a professor of computer science at an Ivy League school. Ep 704704: This is what strengthens and weakens your decision making - Q&A with David Meltzer
Do you get decision fatigue? Or fear in making important decisions? You are not alone. In show 699, titled “How to make decisions with confidence” we talked with decision making expert, David Meltzer. Incredible information from this former consultant for the movie, Jerry Maguire, which I love! So I went to you, the Ziglar audience, and asked this question, “On a scale from 1-10 (10 best), how would you rate your confidence in making important decisions? And why?” It was incredibly revealing. Some highlights - no surprise people tend to feel far less confident when in crisis. Many shared they are more confident in helping guide others in decision making than when it’s about them. People pleasers, which I admittedly struggle with, have a hard time when their decisions include other people. Many found it harder when there are a lot of choices. Some felt they were generally confident, but it often took them a long, long time. Seeking counsel from others was a common thread. The term “analysis paralysis” came up multiple times. The aspect of having to remove emotion when making decisions was brought up. Then much discussion came around the role in decision making of experience, maturity and the big one...faith. Ep 703703: Get a leash on your technology and take back your world, with Cal Newport
Why would renowned associate professor of computer science at Georgetown University Cal Newport shun social media and keep ultra tight tight restrictions on his own technology usage? Because he desires to master his life, peace and productivity and he knows the limiting power of unleashed electronics in his life. Imagine waking up and immediately eating a donut. Getting ready for work and having a breakfast of...donuts. On the way to work, have a donut. As a matter of fact, you just keep a dozen with you at all times and rarely let 15-20 minutes go by without at least having a bite. I mean, what harm is there in just a bite here and there? But by day’s end you never had enough room in your belly to get any good nutrition in and you feel a bit woozy from all the sugar and carbs, even as you sneak a couple bites as your head hits the pillow and you try to get some sleep, which is disturbed by the days intake of junk. Or constant spending of your money? We all know we must budget our nutritional intake and financial expenses. We know we can’t binge on anything continuously. But in a short amount of time, our electronics and devices have crept in and many of us find ourselves on a near non-stop diet. What is it doing to us? This is our topic today. As I mentioned, Cal Newport is an associate professor of computer science at Georgetown University and the author of six books, including his most recent, Digital Minimalism - Choosing a focused life in a noisy world. Two of his books, Deep Work “Rules for focused success in a distracted world” and So Good They Can't Ignore You are books I’ve heard so many world influencers reference. It was the testimony of Michael Hyatt that prompted me to do this interview with Cal. You won't find Cal on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram, but you can often find him at home with his family in Washington, DC, or writing essays for his popular website calnewport.com. Gratefully, he took time to have an in depth conversation with us. We all need to hear this message. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Ep 702702: Get back up stronger when you are knocked down
Welcome to The Ziglar Show, I’m your host, Kevin Miller and this is our Q&A show. Every week I post a personal development question on my facebook page at agentkmiller to hear the real-world testimonies of people’s journeys to change and grow. In this episode our topic is around an age old cliche’. We hear a short story and message from Zig Ziglar that wraps up with him stating a core value for humanity is “How fast you get up after being knocked down”. I think I can safely assume everyone has heard this. If you’ve ever played football, I can guarantee it! But do we take it to heart? Here’s the deal and point of this episode, if nothing hard happens to you, you aren’t stretching yourself more, you’re playing it safe. That’s your choice. But if you ARE striving, you will have some trials. Things that don’t work out for you. And you may very well be victimized, that can happen to anyone. The point isn’t staying in a bubble. It’s going out and at some point, getting your bubble burst. So the value, the valor, goes to how you...recover. Do you get back up? Do you do it with hope and faith instead of bitterness and cynicism? Do you allow the trial to strengthen or weaken you? So from Zig’s message I posted this question:“What is a failure you’ve had or valley you were in or trauma you’ve recovered from that you are proud of and better for? And what was the catalyst for your overcoming?" We heard about recoveries from abuse, financial valleys, infertility, death of loved ones and more. I’m joined by Michelle Prince to talk through the comments. We also addressed some big issues in regards to why some people bounce back and others don’t, and we get into muddy water with the concept of God being in control and having a plan... I think you’ll find this an affirming message. Hey, I have a favor to ask, and something to offer in return. It helps me when you share The Ziglar Show with others on social media, and when you leave a review wherever you access your podcasts. But this takes your time. So what can I offer you? You tell me. Seriously. Share the show or write a review, then send it to me at [email protected] and...tell me how I can help you. Answer a question? Give some guidance? Help you find a resource? You tell me. As Zig says, we’ll help each other get what the other wants. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Ep 701701: Build a habit machine for your life - Habits with David Meltzer
In citing what he most wanted to impart the Ziglar audience, David Meltzer replied, “I want to challenge the audience to build a habit machine.” David was our guest in show 699 titled, “How to make decisions with confidence” and I started off the show fawning over the fact he was one of the main consultants for the movie Jerry Maguire. His new book is, Game-Time Decision Making: High-Scoring Business Strategies from the Biggest Names in Sports. In this show of course we walked through his personal habits. Highlights for me...David cited he spent much of his life with the perspective of family and work coming first, but now feels his personal, physical wellness must comes first because without that, he can’t serve his family or his work well. Thus he spends an hour per day on his health. The last year and a half have seen his greatest growth in relationships after he started some habits of consistent communication, which you’ll hear more about. Being a student of his calendar is a big aid for his mental peace and wellness. He is shameless in making money a priority, as with it he can shop for the things he needs to do what he wants and needs to. In regards to that he views his primary vocation doing activities he gets paid for. He believes our culture has a happiness problem and a big personal focus is learning to love all that he is doing. You will gain much from this show. Again, get David’s book, Game-Time Decision Making: High-Scoring Business Strategies from the Biggest Names in Sports, wherever you buy books. Ep 700700: Answering your health questions - Q&A with Dr. Randy James
Your health. How is it? In our series here giving focus to our bodies and minds which are the vehicles for all the goals and efforts, we went to the Ziglar audience to find out what they are dealing with. And...it’s quite a lot. A lot of tough issues. Dr. Randy James was our guest in show 695 and I asked him to come back and talk through the comments and so many issues. What you will hear is a common thread of addressing our foundation instead of always trying to zero in on the ailment that is manifesting. Which means the overall message here gives us all hope and tangible methods we can all address. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Ep 699699: How to make decisions with confidence - with David Meltzer
The most powerful successes in our lives come as the result of making decisions. And yes, that includes some bad decisions that help us get to the good ones. But to achieving anything of value comes by the hands of decision making. Yet how often have you heard guidance on just exactly how to go about making decisions confidently? It’s a void. Until now. In this episode I bring you David Meltzer. David has done a lot of things, but this is what initially peaked my interest in him - David was CEO of Leigh Steinberg Sports & Entertainment not only served as creative and technical consultants for the movie Jerry Maguire, but Leigh Steinberg is literally who Tom Cruise played in the movie. As far as entrepreneurialism and decision making in-the-moment goes and the real gravity of it, Jerry Maguire is a veritable playbook. David’s new book is, Game-Time Decision Making: High-Scoring Business Strategies from the Biggest Names in Sports. A primary premise of the book is learning to be prepared to make decisions in the moment with confidence, clarity, balance, and focus. Dave is the CEO of Sports 1 Marketing, a firm he co-founded with Hall of Fame Quarterback Warren Moon. You football fans will remember Warren as the star quarterback for a decade with the Houston Oilers. David is a Forbes “Top 10 Keynote Speaker“, award-winning humanitarian, and two-time national best-selling author. This was a really rich and heart to heart conversation friends. Ep 697697: Anchor yourself with core, daily rituals - Habits with Randy James
We continue to hear it and we can’t hear it enough - we are the sum of our daily habits and rituals. In this episode we talk with Dr. Randy James whose main interview with us was show #695 titled, “Do you want to be well(er)? Here is how”, where we discussed how to get optimal performance out of ourselves so our bodies and minds are fully functioning. This is our habits show and you’ll hear how some core routines for Randy and with his family are as he says, “the anchors for his life.” Much of his family time is centered around meals and sports, good sleep is his primary focal point for his personal health and his personal time is often made up of sports, reading (often on a treadmill), and a good meal, movie and wine. Ep 696696: Live coaching session on fear and "doing it scared" - with Ruth Soukup
“No fear!” Said the psychopath. The rest of us are human and have fear. The question is, do we recognize it so we can “Do It Scared” as Ruth Soukup’s book is titled? Our main show with Ruth is #691 and was flat out profound. From it I did more than just ask a question, I asked people this, “Will you do this quick fear assessment and report what you find doitscared.com/assessment.” Well...you guys did. Over 30k people have taken Ruth’s fear assessment. We added 50 more. People took the assessment and commented on Facebook about their results. What a conversation! I’m here to say it’s the most valuable and eye-opening assessment or profile I’ve taken in...as long as I can remember. We categorized all the results and I asked Ruth to come back and read through everyone’s comments with me. The big value, the takeaway, is understanding where you have fear and where it’s manifesting in your life. Overall we found people saying the assessment nailed them, and how they are working to deal with their fear. But the discussion with Ruth added dramatic insight into how we are all unique and even amidst the categories of fear Ruth outlines, we can still be very different people. Again, the point is understanding your fear propensity and learning how to...do it scared. And achieve what you desire in the face of it, maybe until you don’t even recognize it anymore! So, get ready for a free, master coaching session with Ruth, on fear. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Ep 695695: Do you want to be well(er)? Here is how - with Dr. Randy James
Your greatest desire is the ability to do what you want and need to do. At the end of the day, nothing really matters if you are not well, in mind, body and soul. Those you desire to serve are not getting your best. Would you accept a million dollars in cash today but give 50% of your wellness away? Of course not. Yet we often find ourselves pursuing careers, businesses, family and all progress in our lives at the sake of our overall wellness. The hard charging business exec or business owner or parent often doesn’t take time for personal wellness, they are busy making millions and raising families! They’ll deal with themselves later. That is until they find themselves in enough pain or lacking in their performance to an unacceptable degree. However, when we finally DO try to address our wellness, getting results from any effort seems to be more complex and elusive than ever. Those who attempt it so often just give up at some point. More and more in our culture we are accepting minimized body, mind and soul as normal. This is tragic and it’s robbing our lives and the world from our full glory. God’s full glory in us. Well friends, there actually is a strategy I can offer you that will help. Dramatically. A framework. I’ve been involved with it for over four years now. It’s not a black and white, cookie cutter, specific answer. But a framework. Let me put it this way, no matter what type of house you want to build and live in, you must have a solid foundation that will support the structure, right. The makeup of foundations for homes are basically the same no matter what type of home you want to build. So what is the primary foundation for your...wellness? Our guest today is Dr. Randy James. Randy is a medical doctor, but far from the norm. His father, also an MD, was one of the early pioneers of what today we call Functional Medicine. Randy served as a doctor in the Air Force before starting in family practice in the states. From there he ultimately founded a new type of medical practice that focuses on the whole person, and their goals. This is not a promotion for his practice, True Life Medicine, up in Colorado. It’s a relatively small practice that acts as his personal lab as he works with a finite amount of people. His bigger goal is to bring the framework to as many people as he can, and this is what we are doing today.Let me stress again here, our point is to equip you to get the most out of yourself. To be running on all cylinders. So that...you can achieve the things you desire in life. This is a special show folks, and I’ll start with three disclosures: 1. Randy is the doctor for people you know like Dan Miller and Tom Ziglar (and some other celebrities I can’t divulge). 2. He and I are business partners and best friends, and 3. In this show we are officially launching our new show, the True Life Show podcast, and a new business that is a massively, revolutionary alternative to health insurance. We’ll talk about it briefly during the end of the show, but...you’ll hear ads as well. The clinic you’ll hear us reference is at TrueLifeMedicine.com. The show is at truelifeshow.com and the alternative health insurance is at TrueLifeProtect.com. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Ep 694694: How to build a healthy self-image - listener comments
Wouldn’t you like to know, really know, how to build a healthy self-image? We have a seven and a half minute message from Zig Ziglar, an excerpt from an on stage presentation, where he runs through some of his top advice. Then, we posted this question to the Ziglar audience, "If someone asked your advice on how to build a healthy self image, what are three things you would offer?" This may be our most significant compilation of real-world insight and counsel...to date. Truly astounding and heartfelt. Zig’s son and CEO of Ziglar, Tom Ziglar, joined me to talk through your comments. For those who hear Zig’s message and wish they could hear more of it, it was taken from the CD and DVD set, Strategies For Success - Blueprint for Achievement. Go to Ziglar.com and visit the online store. I just went on a 2,000 mile road trip with my family and along with great discussions and music, we took time every leg of the trip to listen to one of the CDs in the set. I grew up on this stuff and having my family do so as well is one of the best investments I can make. Plus, I can’t hear it enough. You need more than a reminder here...this is training. Ep 693693 - Get clarity on the big picture - Habits with Ruth Soukup
Stepping back to see the big picture is a significant habit of success for all our lives and in this Habits show, fear expert Ruth Soukup cited how she specifically uses it in her life. Ruth is the best selling author of Do It Scared and in show 691 our topic was Discovering your fear type and mastering it. Walking through Ruth’s habits in this show, what struck me was the area of career where her methodology to keep things on track is to consistently step back to look at the big picture. This is something few of us take the time to truly do. Other aspects of interest...she hates exercise and physical activity, though she does it. She'd rather watch Netflix and travel! She works to prioritize marriage over kids and invest in close friendships. She goes on personal retreats to rejuvenate herself. She's a spender and her husband is the saver and took a good bit to get debt free. I strongly urge you to invest in Ruth’s profound insight into fear and take her fear assessment at doitscared.com/assessment Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Ep 692692: Does your work fit you? Ziglar listeners respond - with Laura Gossner Otting
It continues to be one of the most important questions to ask oneself, “Does my work align with who I am?” Yet in our culture today it is a question many never ask or expect. Work is seen as a necessary evil to provide a paycheck that affords us our lives. While many view working at something they actually enjoy and care about and believe in as a luxury, having those attributes in your work has proven to not only provide personal fulfillment, but greater earning potential. In show 687 I talked with Laura Gassner Otting about her concept of consonance and the power of alignment in all we do. From that show I posted this question to the Ziglar audience, “Does your work align with who you are?” The responses of course varied from “absolutely!” and how, to “not at all” and the frustrations from that. To talk through the comments I brought Laura back on the show to give her expert insight and counsel. These are Real stories giving real value and Laura’s insight was just incredible. Ep 691691: Discover your fear type and master it - with Ruth Soukup
Get ready to blow fear wide open. Until now we have tried to label ourselves and others as fearful or not, when the research now shows fear has multiple archetypes and we all fit into something. Someone with no fear is mentally ill. Outside of that you can find out which types of fears you have, which are most predominant, and how to manage them, not eradicate them! But rather to manage them and “Do It Scared.” Thus is the title of our guest Ruth Soukup’s new book, Do It Scared®: Finding the Courage to Face Your Fears, Overcome Obstacles, and Create a Life You LoveRuth dealt with debilitating fear that landed her in severe depression and into psychiatric hospitals, so she is an expert in the results of unharnessed fear. But from this critical, personal experience, Ruth made fear her muse and dove deep. This resulted in hiring teams of researchers to uncover the truth about and breadth of fear. The results have led her to a blog with over 1 million subscribers, multiple best selling books, and a top ranked podcast. What she discovered are seven Fear Archetypes, which include the Procrastinator, the Rule Follower, the People Pleaser, the Outcast, the Self-Doubter, the Excuse Maker and the Pessimist. While the Fear Archetypes themselves are incredibly fascinating, Soukup explains that it is actually how we use them that makes all the difference. She says, "fear is a little bit different for everyone, but once you can identify the unique way that fear is holding you back, you can also create solutions to overcome that unique fear." I did Ruth’s ground breaking fear assessment and mine...blew me away. Literally folks, I haven’t had such a revelation about my personal make up that I was unaware of, since...honestly I can’t remember. I’ve now had all of my family members over the age of 16 do the assessment, not only so they can hone in on their fear type, but I can know it and better understand them. To everyone...significant revelation. I can’t recommend this enough folks. And I’ll give you a gift, actually it’s from Ruth. Go to https://doitscared.com/assessment/ and take your own. What you get for free is profound, and you can upgrade to the premium results. I can’t recommend it more. 30,000 people have completed it. Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 690690: Rating and increasing your personal performance
How do you rate your personal performance and what you think would most help it right now? We hear a message from Zig Ziglar where he discusses the roots of a bonsai tree vs a giant sequoia named General Sherman. And the reality of how we grow according to the room and resources we give our roots. From this I asked the Ziglar audience a question. I invite you to join us in these weekly Q&A shows, just find and friend me on Facebook at agentkmiller. The question I asked was, "On a scale from 1 to 10, how would you rate your current personal performance? And what do you feel would most help it right now?" We got a load of comments from listeners who rated themselves from 9 to...zero. Some who were inspired and amped, some who were contemplating just throwing in the towel. I had Tom Ziglar join me to not only talk through the comments, but offer guidance to those striving and struggling. This is a really value packed show. Ep 689689: Four questions to guide you in what you say yes to, with Laura Gassner Otting
In your career, business and life, what should you say “Yes” to? Don’t you wish you had an easy formula? Well, thank me later, I have one for you. This is our Habits show and we’re back with Laura Gassner Otting, our guest in show 687 where our topic was aligning what we do with who you we are. In this show we of course walk through spokes on the Ziglar Wheel of Life. You’ll hear Laura share she found her inner athlete at 38 and can now deadlift 225 pounds. She has a family meeting with her husband and kids every week to go over values, what they are grateful for and weekly logistics. She speaks to toxic vampires, focusing on value over price, saying yes to adventure and more. Her career guiding light as to what she does or does not do is what I got the most value from. I actually just shared it with my family. Here is her decision making process: 1. Will this thing help me, 2) Will it help someone else, 3) Does it cause me joy, 4) Is there someone better that should be doing this? What a brilliant structure. I’m adopting it myself as I realize I often say yes to things that violate one or more of those aspects. And since you can’t possibly say yes to everything, what a great goal guideline! Don’t miss show 687 with Laura and I highly encourage you to get her new book, Limitless: How to Ignore Everybody, Carve Your Own Path, and Live Your Best Life and take her Limitless Assessment and more at lauragassnerotting.com/ziglar/ Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 688688: What diet and exercise program will actually work for you?
The age old pursuit of wellness. Of losing weight, gaining muscle, being fit and trim, having energy and not having aches and pains. We have more knowledge on the issue than ever, but America and many other countries are getting fatter and sicker. “Eating less and exercising more” are no longer getting the expected results. If you feel you are doing so many of the supposed “right” things and not getting good results, you are not alone and there is more at work. The topic comes on the heels of our talk with internationally recognized fitness and nutrition expert, Angelo Poli. Angelos is founder of MetPro, the world’s first algorithm based transformation engine. Catch episode 683 with Angelo, titled, “Winning the war over your body.” This is our Q&A show and I asked the Ziglar audience a question on my Facebook page. I invite you to join us, just find and friend me at agentkmiller. The question I asked for this episode was, "Who has gotten results with a diet and/or exercise program? Who has gotten frustrated by one??" I then had the expert himself, Angelo Poli, join me to talk through your many comments. I’m confident you will resonate with many of the comments of failure and success here, but mostly you will get further schooled in how you can finally get results, from Angelo. Ziglar Show listeners can receive their own, complementary Metabolic Evaluation and a 30-minute one on one consultation with a Metabolic Expert by going to metpro.co/ziglar and click “Get Started.” Metpro will review your answers, respond to any questions you may have, and discuss ways MetPro can support your weight loss and performance goals. Ep 687687: Align what you do with who you are, with Laura Gassner Otting
Here is a new term and topic I’ve now added to my vernacular and reality, “consonance”. Consonance is the agreement or compatibility between opinions or actions. What you will hear in this show is how having consonance in your life, or not, massively alters everything you do. My guest is Laura Gassner Otting. Her gig is helping people get “unstuck” and finally achieve the extraordinary results they desire. Ep 686686: Overcoming what seeks to bring you down
Everyday we face concerns and trials in our lives. Real issues that truly impact us. The answer is not merely “be positive!” and paint on a happy face. It is far deeper. In this show we hear a message from Zig Ziglar about these very real challenges in our lives. He discusses the need to acknowledge where we are, how we truly can grow in adversity, and the necessity to grow to respond instead of react. From Zig’s message I posted this question to the Ziglar audience, “Which of the following areas most tries to creep up on you and bring you down if you don't stay on top of your inspiration and positivity? 1) Circumstances: work, money, health, 2) Relationships: spouse, family, coworkers, boss, friend, 3) Past struggles: trauma, labels, handicap, 4) Purpose: faith, hope, meaning in work and love and life. Ep 684684: Change your mindset, change your behavior, change your life - Q&A with John Assaraf
Personal growth requires mastery. Mastery over your subconscious. If you have experienced true, personal growth, you did it by claiming some victory over the predominant power of your brain. You will understand this fully if you listen to show number 679 with John Assaraf where he schooled us in what is really going on with our brains and minds when we try to change our habitual course. From this perspective I asked this question to our Ziglar audience, “What is your most significant personal growth achievement?” As people posted their responses, I asked many for details and clarifications and the result was a truly in depth look at how people have overcome themselves to achieve truly great things. Then to knock it out of the park, I had the brain master himself, John Assaraf, join me to talk through the comments. This is why our Q&A shows are getting more downloads than any other shows, getting answers to your questions from the experts themselves. I encourage you to get and study...John’s new book, Innercise: The New Science to Unlock Your Brain's Hidden Power. Ep 683683: Angelo Poli | Win the war over your body
It is doubtful anyone listening to The Zigar Show who would say no to being trimmer, more muscular or just having more energy and vitality. Most of you are probably making efforts to eat “healthy” and get some exercise. Are you getting the results you want? It increasingly seems people are more frustrated than grateful for the status of their body and health. Is our body the enemy? Is it betraying us? If you resonate with any of this, you will get great value from this show. My guest is Angelo Poli, an internationally recognized expert in fitness and nutrition. He’s the Founder of MetPro, the world’s first algorithm based transformation engine. Using a process called Metabolic Profiling, MetPro analyzes your metabolism and provides an individualized approach to obtaining your health goals. Angelo has spent much of his career as a motivational speaker and was a featured speaker at TEDxChico where he discussed his own achievement in overcoming obstacles. After recovering from a crippling injury himself that saw him use a cane for nine years, Angelo brought to light a whole new way of thinking about health, fitness, and weight loss. In his 20 years of educating the masses and challenging generalized health guidance, Poli has become one of the most celebrated and desired body transformation experts in the world. In this show he will explain why you are not getting the results you want, and I guarantee it will make sense. And he does not tell you want to eat, what exercise to use or what magic supplement to take. Also, Ziglar Show listeners can receive their own, complimentary Metabolic Evaluation and a 30-minute one on one consultation with a Metabolic Expert by going to metpro.co/ziglar and click “Get Started.” Metpro will review your answers, respond to any questions you may have, and discuss ways MetPro can support your weight loss and performance goals. Ep 682682: Succeed where others said you could not - Q&A
Have you had an area in life where you once underperformed and were thought to not have much ability, and you ultimately came to succeed in this area? Do you have an area in your life you’ve been told you can’t do it, you can’t make it, and you’ve believed it? Maybe you should think again. I kick us off by playing a 3.5 minute clip from Zig Ziglar where he shares a story about one of his daughters who was deemed in school as not a high academic performer. That perception was carried out by everyone around her, even including Zig and his wife Jean. He shares what transpired in later years, and as you can imagine, it’s an inspiring story. From this I asked a question on Facebook, and folks, I invite you to join us for these weekly conversations, find and friend me on Facebook at agentkmiller. This week I asked the question, “Have you had an area in life where you once underperformed and were thought to not have much ability in, and later came back to succeed in this area?” Tom Ziglar joined me to talk through your comments. I believe you’ll find great confirmation, and possibly some conviction. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

680: Can you become someone different? Should you? - Q&A with Rock Thomas
Do you honestly believe you can change how your see yourself, and from that actually BE someone different, to a degree? Should you? I think this gets to the root of personal development and self-help. What does that even mean? No matter what I do, I’ll still wake up the next day as me, right? But will I act and do and behave and perform the same? If I increase or decrease my abilities, do I become someone different? In truth, yes, as it alters how others and I, experience myself. It’s the difference of how others will label me and ultimately I’ll label myself. Am I smart or dumb? Well it depends on the topic and what I’ve pursued education in. Am I strong or weak? I have the ability to alter that. Am I patient and tolerant or a jerk? If I become more patient, do I become someone else? You’ve probably seen a movie or experience in real life, someone who everyone knew and doesn’t see for a decade. And when you see them next, they look totally different. They hold themselves differently. They are different inside and out. Their DNA is the same, their name may be the same, they may have some of the same characteristics and mannerisms, but goodness, they are different. To a great degree, they really became someone different. In show 675 I had a significant conversation with Rock Thomas who has the Goalcast video with over 100 million views, titled, “How to change the way you see yourself.” In that show, you’ll hear that if you change the way you see yourself, you truly do become a different person on many levels. So from this I wanted to, of course, hear from you, the Ziglar listeners. I asked this question on Facebook, “Do you honestly believe you can change how your see yourself, and from that actually BE someone different, to a degree?” And wow, I opened the floodgates. You’ll hear some harsh realities that people have overcome, from pondering suicide to loving life. I had Rock join me to talk through the submissions and it was flat out profound and inspiring. We could make our own Goalcast video out of the content. Get ready for a ride. Ep 679679: John Assaraf | Change and control the negative patterns in your mind
It’s a joke and expectation that we often work against ourselves. Our mind betrays us. We want one thing and do the other. It’s the human condition, right? Yes it is. But...it doesn’t have to be. In this show I bring you John Assaraf. I’m going to name drop to show you the impact John has had in this area of the brain and mind. John has made frequent appearances on Larry King Live and has been featured in eight films, including the blockbuster smash hit “The Secret” and “Quest for Success” with Richard Branson and the Dalai Lama. He is one of the leading behavioral and mindset experts in the world, with a unique ability to help people release the mental and emotional obstacles that prevent them from achieving their very best in life and business. What I appreciate is John is a leading expert in this area, but he’s not a doctor with fancy degrees and certifications. He’s an entrepreneur who is like you and me, just interested in how to get the most out of ourselves. In the last 25 years, John has grown 5 multi-million dollar companies in real estate, internet software, brain research, and life and business coaching and consulting. He is the author of two New York Times best-selling books: “Having It All” and “The Answer.” His brand-new book is called “Innercise: The New Science to Unlock Your Brain’s Hidden Power and this book and message was our primary focus in this show. As you’ll hear, our conscious mind is what we are aware of, but it accounts for about 3-5% of our brain activity. Meanwhile the rest of our brain, the subconscious, is working to make sure things stay the same. Got a new idea? New epiphany? New goal and conviction? Great! Now 95% of your brain is working underneath your subconscious to keep you where you are. Why? There’s good reason, as you’ll hear in a minute. But the hope here is...you can train your subconscious to get with the program and work FOR you. This is just an exciting show, if I do say so myself. You’ll hear us referencing John’s new book, Innercise: The New Science to Unlock Your Brain's Hidden Power. Ep 678678: When to get a coach, consultant or counselor - Q&A
Who needs a coach, consultant or counselor? Who doesn’t? And if you are one, what do you need for a healthy and prosperous business? This is our Q&A show and we have two focal points: 1) If you are a human who wants to progress in your life, getting guidance can be powerful. Should you get some? From who? A coach, consultant or counselor?, 2) If you are or want to be a coach, consultant or counselor and want to increase your sanity, help your clients more and make more money, what can you do? We kick off with a three minute clip from Zig Ziglar where he talks about the reality that we all have weak areas and could probably use help. And if we have a healthy self-image, we will see out help. He actually tells a true story of his son and Ziglar’s CEO, Tom Ziglar, getting help for himself. From the message, I posted this question on Facebook, “Who has ever hired a coach or consultant or counselor with good results?” We got responses from such a wide variety of experiences. I had Michelle Prince join me, she’s coached in many areas of business and right now is focused on book publishing for business people who want to expand their message. Find her at MichellePrince.com. But what this led to was hitting what I believe are THE key topics those who could benefit from paid help, which I think is all of us, need to know, AND we hit the key elements those who ARE coaches, consultants and counselors need to know, for themselves, their businesses and their clients. As our entire listening audience is here to progress, I don’t know anyone this show is not highly relevant for. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Ep 677677: Assigning value to your life - Habits with Rock Thomas
We prioritize and work towards what we give the most value. So how about assigning empowering meanings and value to the things that really matter in your life? To the things you want to matter. That is a mental habit of Rock Thomas, which he shares with us here in our Habits Show. Rock was our guest in show 675 where are focus was changing the way we see ourselves. Other things we hit on, he's 56 and can do 57 pushups and is in prime health. He grew up in a family with no good habits, so healthy relational habits are a weaker area. He highly values a strong work ethic and blind faith. His personal pursuits are the piano that he's pursuing later in life, golfing, biking, swimming and he loves dancing. It was an inspiring run through one of today's premier influencers, healthy life habits. This is a great run through the personal habits of a healthy habits sensei. Ep 676676: How to escape the bondage of survival - Q&A with Jonni Pollard
Everyone is doing it these days, it seems. Meditation was our muse. Everyone is doing it these days, it seems. Meditation is losing its spiritual baggage and going mainstream as the new exercise of today’s greatest leaders and influencers. If you listen to our Habits show you hear it over and over as a primary staple for our esteemed guests consistent strategies for success. So of course I wanted to ask you, the listening audience. Do any of you actually meditate? And why, what do you get out of it. Then I couldn’t help but ask the follow up question, if you do NOT meditate...why not? We received more responses than I anticipated, I honestly didn’t expect so many people to be meditating. But we got into sticky areas, like can you meditate and be a Christian? Can you meditate while driving a car or reading your Bible. I enhanced the conversation of course, by having Jonni Pollard himself co-host with me and folks, he was just brilliant in candidly answering the hard questions. I came out of the discussion more convicted than ever. Jonni is an international meditation expert and guru and in show 671 we talked directly about meditation and freeing ourselves from...ourselves. Again, the point isn’t meditation. It’s a means to an end. It was a fascinating conversation and was prompted by Michael Hyatt sharing that he used Jonni’s top ranked meditation app, One Giant Mind, every day. It prompted me to finally give it a try. And...I’m trying! This is a show worth listening to so you can decide if you want to start meditating, or decide it’s not for you. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Ep 675675: Rock Thomas | How to really change the way you see yourself
Can you really change the way you see yourself. In all truth, we spent much of this show expounding on how very hard it is, which is why very few people ever do it. Can you? My guest is Rock Thomas. He has a Goalcast video titled “How to Change the Way You See Yourself” that has over 100 million views. Yes, 100 million. He has a hard story. A hard upbringing. It’s not a perfect and pretty story. But from it he has truly done the Phoenix, rising from the ashes to glory. Why do you care? Of course the point is to showcase that if he can do it, so can you. Though there is a rub. If your story is not that hard, not that tragic...and more so if you were fairly privileged like I was, you’re arguably at a deficit. There’s a chance you’ll never want something bad enough to do what it takes. Which is...just the basic ingredients of success, no secrets or formulas; hard work, perseverance, faith, resilience. This is the stuff Rock has devoted himself to helping you with, however. He wrote the book, “The Power of Your Identity” which you can get at his website, rockthomas.com. It goes deep into the power of what we believe about ourselves. We talk specifically about belief in this show. We generally believe things about ourselves because we have stark evidence! But the question then is...is that it? End of story? Or can we begin to believe knew things about ourselves, do knew things, and achieve a different reality? Of great interest to me, Rock states that changing your identity and reality just takes living 4% outside your comfort zone. I bet you haven’t heard that before. We tend to think we have to do a 180 and live radically different. A core perspective Rock shares is this, “The words that follow “I am”, will follow you.” They become your reality. Think about it, what do you say after, “I am?” This is a significant show, get ready for a ride. Ep 674674: What blame has been holding you back? - Q&A
Hopefully we all know that placing blame on anything or anyone is simply giving our power away. Zig drives home this point with a short message and states that when we stop blaming and take full responsibility for our lives, we free ourselves up to move freely and faster. Hearing these truths and actually walking in them however, are two very different things. Most of the time blame slips in and we don’t realize we’re giving our power to it. When it comes in the form of a person, as Zig points out, it requires forgiveness. From this concept and Zig’s message, I posted this question to the Ziglar listeners, "What is something or someone you blamed that was holding you back, and now you've let go (forgiven?) and have moved on to greater success?" I believe you’ll find the responses comforting and freeing. If someone else can move beyond a well deserved blame, so can you. Tom Ziglar joined me to talk through your heart felt responses. Ep 673673: What is essential and what is frivolous - Habits with Jonni Pollard
Wouldn’t we all like to know what is essential and what is frivolous in our lives? Maybe we think we subconsciously know, but I for one would be interested in getting it all out on the table. This is our habits show and our muse today is Jonni Pollard, founder of the to ranked meditation app, One Giant Mind. He was our guest in show 671 where we discussed, how to free ourselves from...ourselves! No surprise that a mainstay habit of Jonni’s is meditating. But it was the financial spoke where he discussed asking himself what was essential and what was frivolous. I just saw the concept as being relevant to all the spokes and all of life. I also appreciated the guiding light of his Career spoke being another question he asks himself, “How can I be of best service?” Mentally? Another questions he asks, “How can I be better?” It’s a show of brilliant questions. Check out Jonni’s podcast, One Giant Mind. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Ep 672672: What can you delegate, automate or eliminate - Q&A with Michael Hyatt
You can’t do it all and chances are 99% you are currently doing too much. But you are stuck, right? Join the crowd. But insanity is doing the same things over and over and hoping for different results, right? In who #663 we talked with Michael Hyatt about his book, ‘Free To Focus’. There are three segments of the book; Stop, Cut, and Act. I really honed in on the difficulty of CUT-ting. STOP-ping to take things into account and chart a course, then ACT-ing on the course...I think most of us do pretty well, and those seem to get primary focus in the personal development sector. But then we generally get overwhelmed. So the middle initiative, CUTTING...realizing everything we say yes to, just adds up to overwhelmedness if we don’t also say NO to things, is what I used as our focal point in this show. I asked these questions to our audience, 1) What are some GOOD things you do in your life, daily and weekly, that might be getting in the way of GREAT things you could invest in? And 2) If half your responsibilities disappeared, what meaningful work would you spend more time doing? In your career/business and personal life? What tasks would you most like to delegate if you could? Then I had Michael Hyatt himself join to talk through your responses! I truly feel you may have a light bulb moment from this show. Ep 671671: Jonni Pollard | How to free yourself from yourself
Jonni Pollard is renowned for bringing meditation mainstream via his organization and app, 1 Giant Mind. In show #667, Michael Hyatt referenced using the 1 Giant Mind app as part of his daily spiritual habits, and more than half of all guests on The Ziglar Show are attesting to using meditation as a primary part of their daily habits and routines. While meditation seems to often have spiritual undertones to it, it is ultimately brain training. An example; if you are familiar with the sport of biathlon that combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting, after vigorously skiing for a distance the athlete must then stop and calm themselves in order to shoot a very small target. In our lives, we tend to go, go, go and then struggle to hit the small targets of success we desire. Jonni uses meditation to help us daily calm ourselves in order to be present and fully useful and able as we target our most valuable goals. It is not rest so much as fuel. Jonni states that most of us are prisoners of ourselves. Of our own minds. We never stop to gain control of and over our thoughts, anxieties, worries, and never-ending duties and roles. We tend to "rest" by escaping and entertainment, which is more like a pause than a refocus and recalibrate. This is an equipping message that really drove home what we are missing and what we can gain with taking a moment daily to really be present in our own minds. Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 670670: Master your personal presentation - Q&A
Have you ever, for your work or personal life, practiced and/or gotten coaching for a presentation? For sales, a live and on-stage presentation, for getting a date or a job, anything? This is the question we posed to the Ziglar audience. Zig Ziglar starts us with a five minute lesson on mastering our personal presentation, whether for sales or in our personal life. Zig mastered sales, then the stage, but even more, he realized all of life is a presentation and how we are perceived is up to us and how we choose and work to present ourselves. Michelle Prince joined me to talk through the many comments on how people have worked to hone their work and life presentations. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Ep 668668: What have you achieved that others thought you could not? - Q&A with Richie Norton
Having confidence in yourself and faith and support from others is priceless. Yet, there is also something sweet about achieving something others didn’t think you could. Maybe you weren’t so sure either, or maybe you absolutely knew you could do it. The greatest stories are made from the “stupid” ideas that worked, and many worked like magic. What Richie Norton helped us understand in show 663 is that for any new idea to be truly valuable and viable, it must by proxy be “stupid” in that it should be very or at least fairly different than what already exists. If it’s the same as something that already exists and “reasonable”, how can it really be invaluable. Thus I asked this question on Facebook, “Who has achieved something other’s didn’t think was possible or a “wise” move, and you proved them wrong?” And, “What is a business or life idea you’ve had that you or someone else thought (or thinks) might be a stupid idea?” Great, fun responses of course, and Richie joined me to talk through your comments! Ep 667667: Michael Hyatt - Achieve More (of what you want) by Doing Less (of what you really don't have to do)
You are overwhelmed. You have too much to do. So I have a question for you - if you could wave a magic wand, would you rather get more done or have less to do? Productivity messages generally focus on getting efficient to get more done. But the greats of our present day and history don’t...do more. They figure out ways to spend more time doing what only they can do. Their art, in essence. Michael Hyatt joins us on The Ziglar Show for the third time, our first guest to do so. His new book is titled, “Free To Focus” - Achieve More By Doing Less. Want the punch line? The primary problem for most of us is we take on too much and don’t eliminate, automate or delegate enough. We spend time doing tasks that relegate us to a low paid, hourly worker. Why? Michael steps on my own toes by stating it’s often because we think it takes longer to explain it to someone else than to just do it myself, and I don’t think someone else can do it as well. Both may be true, but if I accept that, I’m quickly plateaued in what I can do. And there I sit. Forever under maximized. Friend, this is a convicting and compelling message. From it you will do one of two things: cut down on the things YOU don’t have to do. Again, they may need to get done, but do YOU have to do them. And then spend more time on the important things that you do best. Or you will decide to change nothing, and anchor your progress to where you are now. And since I know you won’t do the latter, then there is nothing more important than listening to and digesting this message! If you don’t know Michael...he’s one of the most influential voices in business. He’s a bestselling author, one of the most successful bloggers...ever. And in truth is a primary leader of...leaders. It’s unreal how many of the people we interview on the show look to Michael for mentorship. Ep 666666: Fighting the enemy - Q&A
Show 666, “The number of the beast!” While I don’t fear a number, I know this number has some weighty baggage that I do not discount. I decided to take the opportunity to hit some hard things head on. Recent headlines cited, "The number of deaths from alcohol, drugs and suicide in 2017 hit the highest level since federal data collection started in 1999." I posted this on Facebook and asked…”Why? What's your take on why this tragedy continues to increase about 4% per year?” The responses were profound and hit on things like, disconnection, hope, social media, relationships, health, higher power, opioids, breakdown of the family, isolation, self-image, loss of identity, tolerance and love. And the question or belief of...is there an enemy? The devil? Corporate greed? Is anything at work against you? Sounds negative, doesn’t it. But knowing what you are up against is necessary in order to come out on top. That’s the focus of this show. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Ep 665665: Richie Norton’s financial advice: learn how to make money - Habits with Richie Norton
What are the habits of a guy whose fame comes from doing stupid things? Pretty stellar, and showcases how Richie Norton is defining stupid as the New Smart. My favorite spoke on the Ziglar Wheel of Life from Richie? Number four, Financial. Richie says, “Better than budgeting, learn how to make money.” With number six, career and business, his opportunity requirement is he must be able to do it all via his cell phone so his family can stay flexible and mobile. Number five is spiritual and of great interest to me that we unpacked more was Richie’s perspective of loving God...unconditionally. That’s a twist on the norm. Ep 664664: How are you coping with emotional strife? - Q&A with Miles Adcox
You are not emotionally perfect. Neither am I. You have had some level of emotional strife in your life. Me too. So how are you coping with it? That is the question I posted on Facebook. I asked, “What in your life has most affected your emotional health, and how are you coping today?”Trauma, abuse, codependency, addiction, stress, burnout, childhood wounds, shame, family dysfunction, negative labels, other? The responses came in immediately and right off the bat hit issues such as Divorce, angry households, negativity, childhood trauma, birth defects, death of loved ones, domestic violence, addiction, codependency, bullying. But what you want to hear is...how ARE people coping? How are they healing and overcoming and finding success anyway. The topic came from my conversation with Emotional Fitness guru Miles Adcox, our muse in show 659. I’ll admit I am not equipped to address most of these issues and it was a pure gift to have Miles field them with his humility and experienced insight. Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 663663: Richie Norton | Your stupid idea is way smart
Not just a catchy title folks. In this show we are going to equip you to do something stupid, maybe something you’ve had in mind for a while. Stupid by the world’s standards, that is. Stupid compared to the norm, the conventional and the mediocre. It’s amazing to consider so many of the products, services and empires we all use and believe in, were initially called stupid. Literally. But how do we deal with the critics and doubts and vet the idea to make sure it isn’t truthfully...no good? My guest today is Richie Norton. Richie is a guy who it seems everyone I respect...knows and reveres. At face value he’s a guy that can help you with your business. But that’s like saying like saying a Ferrari can help you get to the store across town. Well, sure. But that’s not even the tip of the iceberg. Richie has a dramatic story that entails the roots of why he wants to help people live the life they believe in, now. Not later. It’s not just motivation folks, it’s from the trenches of hardship and reality to come to terms with the fragility of our lives. Richie’s book is “The Power Of Starting Something Stupid.” You can find it and more at his website, but I encourage you to get a free guide he has called the 76 Day challenge. Richie has three sons today. But a fourth son lived...76 days. That gives you insight into Richie’s muse and heart. Get it at www.richienorton.com/76daychallenge Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 662662: Is admitting really the first step? - Q&A
What is a negative truth about yourself you would like to change? We hear a short clip from Zig Ziglar about his past. A past where he referred to himself as, and had his kids call him, fat boy. Why? Because he was overweight. He then talks about how we see ourselves. From This I asked on Facebook, “What is a negative truth about yourself you would like to change?” It was a question I was concerned would not get much response. Instead I got inundated with incredibly frank responses. Here is a sampling: I'm impatient, I react emotionally to everything, I keep reacting poorly to my wife, I'm waiting for things to be perfect, I create too much drama, I procrastinate, I struggle to balance optimism vs reality, I build a wall and don't know how to have meaningful relationships...it keeps going. The struggle truly is real.” Those are just clips, you will want to hear the details of what people shared. Just tremendous. From this the question that arose was this, “Is admitting really the first step?” That’s the age old cliche’, isn’t it? So now that you are aware and actually admit, are you a step closer to changing? I had Michelle Prince join me to talk through your comments and this issue. Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 661661: Repairing relationships - Habits with Miles Adcox
What are the healthy habits of an emotional fitness sensei? I was curious too. Miles Adcox is our guest today, and after our main conversation with him in show 657, I was eager to walk with him through the seven spokes on the Ziglar Wheel of Life. Longtime show listeners know I find great peace and roots in the outdoors. Miles recently posted this in Instagram regarding the outdoors, “It’s been in my blood for generations and I’m thankful for Mother Nature and her unique way of taking me back home.” I was also intrigued to hear he has four guys he meets with three or four times per week to workout with. But not just a physical workout, they also give focus to the emotional and spiritual aspects of their lives. Regarding his habits to keep relationships well, he does "a lot of repair work." Meaning, he realizes "rips" are going to happen and his priority is making sure he makes adequate reparations. These and other inspirations, in this show. Ep 660660: How self-aware are you? - Q&A with Alan Stein
We are holding up self-awareness as a holy grail of success. I often say the most dangerous enemy of our life is what we don’t know. What we are blind to. And it’s even worse if we’re talking about an area we think or assume we are good at, and are actually not! In show 655 my guest was high performance coach Alan Stein and we spent a majority of our time talking about the value and necessity of self-awareness. The reality that even with high profile NBA pro basketball players, the number one ingredient for their long term success is, self-awareness. So I wanted to put the issue to you. I posted this question on Facebook, “What is something about yourself you were once unaware of, and now are gratefully "self-aware"? How has it benefited you?” Then, I had Alan himself join me to review your comments. I’ll tell you, I feel oftentimes these candid question and answer sessions with you, the Ziglar Show audience, are as profound if not more, than our main interviews where we initially dig into the issue.
