Michael Knight super spy/ace detective in this one, where he races against the clock to find a key witness to get his friend off of a murder charge. Well, length be damned, we did a commentary for the full length of Avatar. Enjoy our conversation about the movie’s historic run, the career of James Cameron and its legacy through film technology, characters and the theme park. Things could only come down from last week’s high, but did they have to fall so far. We agree this is the weakest of the bunch so far, but I personally give it kudos for looking like the prototype for the first Fast and the Furious film during an action scene toward the end of the episode. In the course of out now, a majority of the Alien and Predator movies have had commentaries done. The last of the Sigourney Weaver ones to do was Alien Resurrection and it turning 25 in November of 2022 definitely helped it finally check the box off (There were a few months prior where it was up for consideration). Putting the finishing touches on our Tim Burton retrospective, Scott and I discuss (with spoilers) the smash hit Netflix show Wednesday. Burton directed the first 4 episodes and was an involved producer on the final four. It’s an interesting conversation that covers the Burton aspect, but also shines on the streaming discussion, IPs and Jenna Ortega blossoming into a potential big star with the great year she’s had. I enjoy doing a special holiday episode to surrender to the season. This year’s episode was actually foreshadowed during the Almost Heroes episode back in February. Knight Rider finds itself amid a political thriller scenario. An episode that contains a lot more Devon, it also leans heavy on the action. This one features a go for broke attitude with a lot of the biggest sequences we’ve had on display yet. “Just My Bill” also features a pair of guest stars that might bring a “who?” now but were potentially some decent gets back in 1982. In this episode, we watch as Tim bounces back from the quality failing that was Planet of the Apes. While its the third episode aired, there’s a lot of dialogue hints that it may not have been the intended third in order. It’s an interesting mystery/whodunnit type episode that continues to showcase a rather strong action show about a man and his talking car. If you’ve been following my podcasting adventures, you’ll know I’ve done this movie before as an episode of my previous podcast. I dig a good left turn on the show. Sure, Practical Magic isn’t a horror film in October, but its story of witches and has a VERY fall feeling. This is an episode I’ve been wanting to do for quite some time and it went better than I’d even hoped. Well, it’s been quite some time since we’ve had a normal, straightforward episode of the show. A combination of things happened here. I wanted a little break after working hard on The Summer of 82 at 40 series, I had a vacation the first week of September and then I caught Covid pretty bad from said Vacation. Kiss Me Deadly has been on the Out Now bucket list for a while now. We discuss why and then dive into the 1955 noir classic that is quite punk rock for its time and genre. Age has been kind to this stylistic and highly influential pot boiler. It also features the film debut of Cloris Leachmann.
