What Are You Looking For In A Spin-Off with Kat Fitzpatrick
Annnnnd – I’m back! While I’m still unwinding from an incredible weekend at Chicago TARDIS doing some Doctor Who documentary work, I was able to get back to recording my dear podcast. I’m very excited to introduce to you my friend Kat Fitzpatrick of the Fake Ass Book Club and one of my fellow IN Podcasting ambassadors. She’s a fabulous talent and personality. There was a recent article I had read that spurned the topic of this episode that I kind of wanted to explore. So bear with Kat and I as this is just kind of a discussion about what the discussion should be. I’m pretty happy with it, though we left still scratching the surface. Maybe we will revisit some day. Hope you enjoy! -Brandon The Brandon Peters Show will return. Blood Rage (1987) with Yancy Berns
On Thanksgiving night, a time honored tradition as I wait for the minutes to tick down for the Vinegar Syndrome and Severin Films Black Friday Blu-ray sales is to watch the 1987 slasher classic Blood Rage (also known as A Nightmare at Shadow Woods or simply – Slasher). I discovered this flick when Arrow Video released it on Blu-ray in 2015. There’s a long time myth that Thanksgiving was the only holiday the slasher/horror genres hadn’t had a movie set to until Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving trailer (now a full fledged feature film) as a part of Grindhouse. Obviously this is false. Yancy Berns returns to the show for the first time since Yancy’s Tales From The Video Store last year as part of The Summer of 93 at 30. He and I talk about the holiday Thanksgiving itself and have a fun discussion on the film. Please note: There will be no episode next week as I will be doing documentary work at Chicago Tardis and haven’t been able to get an episode in. We’ll be okay though, I shall return! -Brandon The Brandon Peters Show will return. The Top 10 Directorial Debuts Of All Time with Mark Hofmeyer
I’ve had the idea for this one since the 4th episode of the show back in 2020. And there were a couple times it actually almost happened with a different set of people. I’m excited to now finally bring you the “Top 10 Directorial Debuts of All Time”. Joining me is Mark Hofmeyer from Movies, Films & Flix as well as Deep Blue Sea: The Podcast. Mark and I have been recording for a few years together on Out Now With Aaron and Abe and I’ve finally brought him over. There are parameters to the list making and we wanted to sort of avoid it being all obvious choices. What are some of your faves that we may not have mentioned, let us know! -Brandon The Brandon Peters Show will return. “The Most Criterion Criterion Collection Titles Of All Time” with Aaron Neuwirth
November is a big month for physical media collecting nerds like myself. There are of course many sales on Black Friday as well as secret title drops and big price drops from boutique labels like Vinegar Syndrome and Severin Films. But, for the whole month, its 50% of the Criterion Collection at Barnes & Noble. Criterion has long been in the game for boutique labels but a staple for shining a light on the best of international films and creators, independents, forgotten gems and providing the must boffo releases in terms of bonus features and film presentations. Being around for 40 years, Aaron Neuwirth and I have decided to concoct lists of what the most Criterion Criterion Collection titles of all time are. What have been stapes, what movies have had their best foot put forward with a Criterion release and other factors. Listeners, please chime in to share with us your favorites as well! -Brandon The Brandon Peters Show will return with special guest Mark Hofmeyer of Movies, Films & Flix and “The 10 Greatest Directorial Debuts of All Time” TECHNICAL INFORMATIONVocalsBrandon – Shure SM58-LCAaron – Unknown Microphone (Recorded with Zoom) Post ProductionNCH Wavepad Masters Edition v8.38NCH MixPad Masters v5.22The Levelator 2 RUNTIME: 90 minutes
Doctoberfest 2024 featuring Keith Barnfather
Doctoberfest 2024: INFILTRATE was held on October 19th at Who North America located in Camby, IN. This year’s event was held completely on the grounds of the store. I was honoured to be welcomed back to do media coverage for another year. This year’s special guest was Keith Barnfather, a legend in the realm of documentary and spin-offs focused on Doctor Who. In addition, there were many authors included as guests as well. That included Zepo Publishing who debuted their book How To Celebrate Your Fandom at the event. This is the podcast edition of the episode. My youtube channel (youtube.com/brandonpetersshow) includes video coverage of the event as well as some additional pieces with some of the vendors/artists that appeared. Whichever way you choose to experience, I humbly thank you. -Brandon The Brandon Peters Show will return. After 2 weeks of Terrifier, it’s time to go a little bit lighter! Jessica returns and we talk her fave Adam Sandler…i think for the first time since she was on the show (October 2020) and we chatted Hubie Halloween. Terrifier Retrospective with Greg McGoon
For this year’s spooky retro we are talking Terrifier. I couldn’t help myself. I became a huge fan of the Art the Clown exploits with 2022’s Terrifier 2 and one of my most hyped/anticipated films of 2024 is its follow up Terrifier 3. I realize these aren’t for everyone, but I’ve been chomping at the bit to discuss them SOMEWHERE, so why not on my show. Greg McGoon is back, as he is also a big fan of the Art exploits and we go on for quite some time on Terrifier 2. So if you enjoy long episodes…here you go! We’ll be back next week for Terrifier 3. So you have a chance to catch up and see that one in weekend 2. Poorly Described Movies: The Game with Chris Johnson LIVE at Days of the Dead
And it’s finally here – Poorly Described Movies: The Game LIVE at Days of the Dead Indianapolis 2024. Chris and I had another good time putting the show on, but were taken by surprise (or were we?) with the more knowledgeable than most crowd we drew at Days of the Dead. We did have some fun drawing a horse to water with tricking our contestants into thinking we were describing another movie. See how you do with these. We hope to bring this back to Days of the Dead in 2025. The Brandon Peters Show will return. The Making of “Paramount Presents: Bringing Out The Dead” with Justin Beahm
I can’t believe it’s been 2 years since Justin Beahm was on the show. But I’d pegged this as an episode I wanted to do once he pulled it off. Off the air, he’d told me about his bucket list goal of getting Martin Scorsese’s under-appreciated 1999 film Bringing Out The Dead starring Nicolas Cage out onto Blu-ray. Then 2 years ago he told me he had the greenlight, but some scheduling took it awhile. However, on September 17th, 2024, Bringing Out The Dead was brought to 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray in a limited collector’s edition from Paramount Presents featuring new interviews Justin conducted with Martin Scorsese, Nicolas Cage, Paul Schrader and Robert Richardson. In this episode, Justin tells his fantastic story of putting this all together for an incredible physical media release of a film begging for rediscovery/reappraisal. -Brandon The Brandon Peters Show will return with “Poorly Described Movies: The Game with Chris Johnson LIVE at Days of the Dead Indianapolis 2024” TECHNICAL INFORMATIONVocalsBrandon – Shure SM58-LCJustin – Unknown Microphone (Recorded with Zoom) Post ProductionNCH Wavepad Masters Edition v8.38NCH MixPad Masters v5.22The Levelator 2 RUNTIME: 71 minutes

As we so do to wrap up a PopCon Live Podcast Stage – Its time for Poorly Described Movies: The Game. This is the first time it has been done at Louisville and the 3rd one this year! Chris Johnson was unable to attend as he’s got his first little one due any day now, so Patches sat in with me and I’d say he did an admirable job. Volunteering At Conventions
While I don’t feature in this live recording, I wanted to capture it and have it out in the ether. Les Eller is the head of volunteers for PopCon and has been there since its beginnings. He came to me with an idea to have him and his assistant Amy do a panel/podcast recording about the experience of volunteering at a convention and how you can get involved if you’re curious. A little bit in, they are joined by other area lead volunteers Jessica (celebrity handling) and Amber (vendor registration) to die even deeper. Turned out to be a nice success as people perusing by stopped in to listen, ask questions and express their desire to volunteer for PopCon Indianapolis 2025. As such, I want this recording to exist somewhere for anyone who has ever been curious about what goes on or has interest in volunteering at a pop culture convention no matter where or which one. I hope this serves as a valid resource and showcases the kind of terrific, fun people you get to work with. The Brandon Peters Show will Monday with “Poorly Described Movies: The Game”. Nerd Stuff with Abdul-Hakim Shabazz
Abdul-Hakim Shabazz is a pretty renowned political media personality in the state of Indiana. Don’t worry folks, politics are not discussed in this recording. He also served as a celebrity panel moderator at PopCon Louisville. My dear friend KJ suggested I bring him on the Live Podcast Stage as his nerdy side doesn’t get to pop out of him very often. And I’m glad I took her suggestion as Abdul has a historic knowledge of comic books and collecting. He’s also an old school Trekkie. It was a lot of fun to meet and chat with him as he shared his time with me before he left back to Indiana on the last day of PopCon Louisville. When I found out I had an extra hour to fill on the Saturday of PopCon Louisville, a new idea was to be tested. A conversation of different film & tv franchises at random. A discussion on where they currently stand, could go, could improve or should they go on vacation and charge up to return another day? For this one, I invited my dear friend and pop culture mogul, KJ to the stage to go over some things with me. The Summer of 2004 at 20 with Scott Mendelson & Aaron Neuwirth: EPILOGUE
The Summer of 2004 at 20 is a weekly retrospective journey through American pop culture during May, June, July and August of 2004. Brandon Peters, The Wrap’s Scott Mendelson and We Live Entertainment/Out Now with Aaron and Abe’s Aaron Neuwirth take a weekend by weekend look at the films released during the summer as well as the news stories, television and music that rounded out the public’s lives as they lined the pockets of the box office to see these movies. EPILOGUE: We have reached the very end of our journey. In addition to our reflections, worst of, discoveries and top 10 films from the summer of 2004 we are covering a bonus movie – Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. A film from just a few weeks after summer that sort of feels like it foreshadows a lot to come with blockbusters decades later. We’ll also be discussing the box office report, notable news stories, the top 10 Nielsen rated tv programs for the week and the top 10 of Ryan Seacrest’s weekly American top 40 from the week these films were released. Summer of 2004 at 20: “Accidentally In Love” by Counting Crows with Jennifer Wreyford INFO
The Summer of 2004 at 20 Music Video Companion series will post every Friday, featuring a discussion of a music video from a song featured in the Casey Kasem weekly top 440. If you remember, last year I added that soundtrack songs/videos could count without being part of the American Top 40 (top 10). And that leads us back to another discussion about Counting Crows. Jennifer Wreyford is back for her 3rd summer and we chat about the song that opened up the summer’s biggest movie – “Accidentally In Love”. Thank you for listening to The Summer of 2004 at 20 series!
