No word yet on how WWE will decided the next NXT Champion, but there is a 4-Way #1 Contender match announced for Tuesday’s NXT...with Tommaso Ciampa vs. Kyle O'Reilly vs. LA Knight vs. Pete Dunne. The WWE Championship will be defended on tonight’s Raw. Randy Orton will challenge Bobby Lashley. This match was originally announced a week ago for the Extreme Rules pay per view. We have FOUR other matches being promoted for tonight’s Raw. Damian Priest issuing an open challenge for his United States Championship. Raw Women’s Champ Charlotte Flair vs. Shayna Baszler in a non-title match. Rhea Ripley vs. Natalya… AND Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, Mustafa Ali & Mansoor vs. AJ Styles, Omos, Mace & T-Bar. (STINGER: ROH) TWO new champions were crowned at Ring Of Honor’s Death Before Dishonor pay per view last night. Josh Woods ended Jonathan Gresham’s 317-day reign as ROH Pure Champion last night. 19-year-old Rok-C is the new face of ROH’s women’s division. She beat Miranda Alize in the finals of the ROH women’s title tournament. Bandido is STILL the ROH World Champion. He survived a 4-Way Elimination Match against Brody King, EC3 and DEMONIC Flamita. EC3’s elimination came via disqualification, after the referee caught him using a steel chair. King pinned Flamita to eliminate him...and Bandido later caught King in a crucifix pin to secure the win. Shane Taylor Promotions beat La Faccion Ingobernable’s Dragon Lee, Kenny King & Bestia Del Ring to retain the ROH 6-Man Titles. King took the pin after Taylor cracked him in the head with a steel chair. The OGK - Mike Bennett & Matt Taven - beat The Briscoes. Taven surprised Jay with an inside cradle to get the pin. Dalton Castle beat Eli Isom after Dak Draper got involved. VLNCE UNLTD’s Tony Deppen, Homicide & Chris Dickinson beat LSG, John Walters and Lee Moriarty. Moriarty took the pin. Rosemary pinned Steelz with a spear on last night’s show, but after the match Steelz and Evans STOLE the Knockouts Tag Title belts. Also announced for Victory Road, Moose & W. Morrissey will take on Eddie Edwards & Sami Callihan. Moose had Morrissey in his corner as he beat Edwards in last night’s main event. There was a huge melee after the match, which ended with Callihan rescuing Eddie & Alisha Edwards from Moose & Morrissey. Karl Anderson beat Rich Swann in a Bunkhouse Brawl match. Anderson finished Swann with a top rope Gun Stun ONTO a table. That’s an important distinction because the table did NOT break. Sheamus will get another shot at Damian Priest and the United State Championship. Sheamus earned the shot by using a rollup and a handful of tights to pin Drew McIntyre on last night’s Raw. Rhea Ripley & Nikki ASH beat the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champs Natalya & Tamina in a non-title match. Ripley pinned Natalya with the Riptide. Karrion Kross beat John Morrison by choking him out with the Kross Jacket. Drake Maverick returned to Raw last night. He confronted 24/7 Champ Reggie, after Reggie had pinned Akira Tozama to retain the title. (STINGER: AEW) Tonight’s AEW Dark has something new. A Three Strikes Match between Big Swole and Diamante. This is a gonna be a two out of three falls match. The first fall can only be won by pinfall. The second fall can only be won by submission. And the third fall - if necessary - can only be won via knockout. Also tonight, Dark Order explodes!...as Evil Uno goes one on one with Alan “5” Angels. And The Acclaimed is back in tag team action. Max Caster returned to AEW TV on last night’s Elevation. His interference helped Anthony Bowens pin Griff Garrison. Also last night, Bear Country beat Ryan Nemeth & PRETTY Peter Avalon. Dante Martin beat JD Drake. Riho beat Skye Blue. Kiera Hogan got her first win in AEW by beating Blair Onyx. (STINGER: New Japan) The full lineups for all the cards for New Japan’s G1 Climax 31 tournament are now announced. The tournament opens on September 18th with A Block matches, including IWGP Champ Shingo Takagi vs. Tomohiro Ishii. B Block opens on September 19th with Kazuchika Okada vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi. The final night of B Block matches on October 20th includes Okada vs. Jeff Cobb...Tanahashi vs. Taichi...and SANADA vs. EVIL. (STINGER: AEW) AEW closed its All Out pay per view with double debuts! After Kenny Omega beat Christian Cage to retain the AEW Championship in last night’s main event, Adam Cole made a surprise appearance...and he quickly aligned himself with The Elite. That was followed by the AEW debut of Bryan Danielson, who helped Christian and Jurassic Express run off Omega and the rest of The Elite. Backstage after the show, Cole talked about his decision to jump to AEW. (Adam Cole Jumps To AEW) That clip from the media scrum after All Out. Those were not the only surprises at All Out. Ruby Soho - the former Ruby Riott - made her AEW debut and won the women’s Casino Battle Royale to earn a shot at the AEW Women’s Championship. That title is still held by Dr. Britt Baker after she beat Kris Statlander last night. New Japan’s Minoru Suzuki made a surprise appearance to confront, and lay out, Jon Moxley...after Mox had beaten Satoshi Kojima. Moxley and Suzuki are now set for a match on Wednesday’s Dynamite from Cincinnati. The lone title change last night...the Lucha Brothers beat the Young Bucks inside a steel cage to take away the AEW Tag Team Titles. Miro beat Eddie Kingston to retain the TNT Championship. CM Punk’s first pro wrestling match in over seven years was a win over Darby Allin. He pinned him with the GTS and the two shook hands after the match. For a few moments, it appeared MJF had pinned Chris Jericho to end his in-ring career in AEW. It took a second referee to point out that Jericho’s foot was on the bottom rope. The match was restarted and Jericho later forced MJF to tap out to the Walls Of Jericho. And Paul Wight pinned QT Marshall with a choke slam. On the Buy In pre-show, Jurassic Express & the Best Friends beat the Hardy Family Office. After the match, The Butcher returned to AEW TV after a long layoff to beat up on Orange Cassidy. AEW also announced a new date for the Full Gear pay per view. It’s now set for Saturday, November 13th. AEW wasn’t the only company in the Chicagoland area this past weekend. GCW ran a bunch of shows and late Saturday night, Jon Moxley showed up and pinned Matt Cardona to win the GCW Championship. Mox will defend the title against Nick Gage on October 9th. Her last match was over a decade ago, though she continued to make appearances for different companies over the years that followed. Her death was announced on Thursday. The SmackDown on October 1st will now be held at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore. The Smoothie King Center’s primary tenants, the NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans, announced Monday that the arena had "minor exterior damage" from Ida...and “will be prepared to host games for the upcoming season without issue”. The Pelicans’ only home preseason game is scheduled for October 6th. Tonight’s NXT has Johnny Gargano vs. LA Knight...Tommaso Ciampa vs. Ridge Holland...Kyle O’Reilly vs. Duke Hudson...and Roderick Strong vs. Ikemen Jiro. (STINGER: New Japan) New Japan announced the full cards for its upcoming Wrestle Grand Slam stadium shows next weekend. All the wrestlers who’ve been sidelined due to COVID-19 or contact concerns will be back for the show. That includes IWGP World Heavyweight Champions Shingo Takagi, who is set to defend the title against EVIL on Sunday’s show. Also, there’s a title match now added to Sunday’s card. El Phantasmo & Taiji Ishimori defend the junior tag titles against Yoshinobu Kanemaru & El Desperado. Saturday’s show now has a one-on-one match between former tag partners SHO and YOH. Stardom will have a match on both Wrestle Grand Slam shows...and BOTH will be broadcast on New Japan World. At Stardom’s show on Sunday... Starlight Kid beat Natsupoi to win the High Speed Title. And we have to mention this from Pro-Wrestling NOAH. The Great Muta hit Kaito Kiyomya with a CAR during NOAH’s show on Sunday. (STINGER: WWE) Roman Reigns will defend his Universal Championship on next Friday’s SmackDown...against Finn Balor. The match was made at the end of last night’s SmackDown. Also last night, Bianca Belair earned a rematch for the SmackDown Women’s Championship she lost to Becky Lynch. Belair won a 4-Way Elimination Match last night, outlasting Carmella, Zelina Vega and Liv Morgan. Morgan was the last to be eliminated. Becky Lynch was on last night’s SmackDown...and said she apologizes for nothing when it comes to how she sucker punched and pinned Belair in less than 30 seconds to win the SmackDown Women’s Title at SummerSlam. Sami Zayn pinned Dominik Mysterio last night with the Helluva Kick. After the match it appeared there is growing tension between Dominik and his dad Rey. (STINGER: WWE) Tonight’s NXT will have the first fallout from TakeOver 36… PLUS, the finals of the NXT Breakout Tournament: Carmelo Hayes vs. Odyssey Jones...Timothy Thatcher vs. Ridge Holland...and Hit Row vs. Legado Del Fantasma. Last night’s Raw put a number of storylines into motion...leading to three pretty big matches being announced for next week. The Miz ambushed John Morrison, putting an end to their partnership. Those two men will meet in a match on next week’s Raw. The breakup went down after Xavier Woods beat Miz. Morrison tried to spray Woods with a drip-stick...but got Miz instead. Doudrop formally cut ties with Eva Marie - although she’s keeping the name for some reason. Eva attacked Doudrop backstage to seal the split. Those two are also set for a match on next week’s Raw. Last night’s show opened with the NEW United States Champion Damian Priest confronting WWE Champion Bobby Lashley. That eventually led to Priest & Drew McIntyre taking on Lashley & Sheamus. Lashley walked out on his partner...and Sheamus was pinned after a Claymore from McIntyre. So, Lashley will face Sheamus in a non-title match on next week’s Raw. The celebration for the NEW Raw Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair was interrupted by Alexa Bliss...but she only wanted to say “Hi”. As for the former champ, Nikki A.S.H. tagged with Rhea Ripley and beat Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler. Ripley pinned Baszler with the Riptide. Riddle pinned AJ Styles with Bro Derek to win last night’s main event. Also, Karrion Kross - with some snazzy new entrance gear - beat Ricochet. Some details are emerging about the frustrating problems for the live fans in attendance at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas for SummerSlam. At one point during the show, the stadium’s cashless payment system went down, leaving fans unable to buy ANY concessions. This was part of a nationwide outage to the credit card processor TSYS. PetCo Park, the home of the San Diego Padres, was also affected. (STINGER: AEW) An indoor mask mandate will be in effect for all three shows AEW is running at the Now Arena outside Chicago...culminating in the All Out pay per view. The order covering all of Cook County, Illinois went into effect on Monday...in response to an increase in COVID-19 cases. Dissension in Dark Order! Colt Cabana, Alan “5” Angels & Evil Uno lost to Death Triangle in the main event of last night’s AEW Dark: Elevation. A reversal late in the match led to Uno delivering a forearm strike to Angels...and Angels later took the pin. After the match, Uno was clearly upset at Angels. Cabana and the rest of Dark Order had to step in to cool off the situation. No rest for Angels. He’s back in action TONIGHT on Dark...against Dante Martin. Also on tonight’s Dark…Orange Cassidy, Chuck Taylor & Wheeler Yuta vs. Matt Hardy & TH2. Cassidy, Taylor & Yuta beat TH2 & The Blade on last night’s Elevation. Cassidy pinned The Blade. (STINGER: New Japan) New Japan is running four straight days at Korakuen Hall starting Tuesday. IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Shingo Takagi and BUSHI are NOT on any of the cards after they tested positive for COVID-19 last week. Neither are six other wrestlers pulled from shows last week due to their contact with Takagi and BUSHI: Tetsuya Naito, SANADA, EVIL, Yujiro Takahashi, Gedo, and Dick Togo. This week’s shows will feature the debuts of two NEW Young Lions. Kosei Fujita and Ryohei Oiwa. They’ll face one another on all four shows this week. Plus, MSK put the NXT Tag Titles on the line against Imperium’s Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner. Also tonight, the second semifinal match in the NXT Breakout Tournament: Duke Hudson vs. Carmelo Hayes. RKBro is BACK! And they’ll challenge AJ Styles & Omos for the Raw Tag Titles at SummerSlam. Riddle rescued Orton from a beating at the hands of Omos. Orton declared he respects Riddle and the two shook hands. Earlier, Styles pinned Riddle with the Styles Clash. Also added to SummerSlam, Alexa Bliss vs. Eva Marie. Drew McIntyre beat Veer & Shanky in a 2-on-1 match, pinning Shanky with a Claymore. That means Veer & Shanky will be banned from ringside for McIntyre’s match against Jinder Mahal at SummerSlam. Rhea Ripley pinned Raw Women’s Champion Nikki ASH with the Riptide in a non-title match. After the match, Nikki went after Charlotte Flair, who was sitting in on commentary. That led to a tag team main event, where Charlotte & Nia Jax beat Nikki & Rhea. Charlotte pinned Rhea. Damian Priest pinned The Miz with a Brogue Kick - right in front of United States Champion Sheamus, who was on commentary at the time. John Morrison walked out on Miz during the match. Also, Flip Gordon pinned Homicide to win a 10-Man “All-Stars vs. Champions” Tag Team main event. (STINGER: New Japan) COVID-19 concerns are leading to more changes for New Japan. This all started over the weekend, when IWGP World Heavyweight Champ Shingo Takagi and BUSHI were found to have fevers. The results of PCR tests still aren’t back. So, Shingo and BUSHI are off of Tuesday’s show...along with Testsuya Naito, SANADA, Yujiro Takahashi, Dick Togo and Gedo. The winner of New Japan’s Super Junior Tag League will be decided on Tuesday’s show. First, Junior Heavyweight Champ Robbie Eagles & Tiger Mask face Ryusuke Taguchi & Master Wato. Eagles & Tiger Mask are still alive in the tournament but they need to win and get some help. The main event has the Junior Tag Champs Taiji Ishimori & El Phantasmo vs. El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru. If the Bullet Club tandem wins they take the tournament. If Despy & Kanemaru win, we could have a three-way tiebreaker to sort out. Getting back to Togo & Gedo, their absence from Monday’s show means they’ll miss their final Super Junior Tag League match. Their opponents, Roppongi 3K, dissolved as a team. So, New Japan is declaring the match a double forfeit - with neither team receiving any points. The breakup of Roppongi 3K was a violent one. SHO hung YOH out to dry during their match Monday against Despy & Kanemaru. YOH eventually succumbed to the numbers. After the match, SHO made his intentions clear and attacked YOH. Dr. Britt Baker held onto the AEW Women’s Championship last night...and she gained some extra muscle. First, Baker used the LockJaw to submit Red Velvet. Also on last night’s show, Miro submitted Fuego Del Sol to retain his TNT Championship. But Fuego still got his AEW contract after the match. Omega will defend the AAA Mega Championship against Andrade El Idolo. This is easily the biggest match for Andrade since he left WWE. The main event is a Mask vs. Hair Match between Psycho Clown and Rey Escorpion. Also, Impact Knockouts Champ Deonna Purrazzo vs. AAA’s women’s champ Faby Apache in a Title vs. Title “Winner Takes All” match. The Lucha Brothers defend the AAA Tag Titles in a 3-Way against Hijo Del Vikingo & Laredo Kid...and Black Taurus with a mystery partner. Nick Aldis defends the Worlds Heavyweight Championship against Trevor Murdoch. James Storm will challenge Chris Adonis for the National Title. Plus, Mickie James vs. Kylie Ray and a lot more. That pay per view is coming up on Sunday, August 29th. Jennacide is the latest name announced for Invitational Cup battle royal at the NWA’s Empowerrr pay per view on August 28th. The team has not appeared on an AEW broadcast since backlash over Max Caster’s pre-match rap on last Tuesday’s Dark. AEW later removed it from the episode. Tuesday’s episode of NWA Powerrr did not air on FITE TV as scheduled. The NWA said there were “technical difficulties”...and FITE said it was working to “fix the process”. The episode will instead air tonight...with two Champions Series matches: Thom Lattimer vs. Trevor Murdoch...and Colby Corino vs. Sal Rinauro. The team of Allysin Kay & Marti Belle is the first to be announced for the NWA Women’s Tag Team Title tournament happening at the Empowerrr pay per view on August 28th. (STINGER: WWE) New matches announced for NXT TakeOver 36 during last night’s NXT. Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly will meet in a two-out-of-three falls match. Where both men each get to choose a stipulation for one of the first two falls. If it gets to a third fall, the stip will be decided by GM William Regal. O’Reilly is choosing a straight-up match for the first fall. Cole picked a Street Fight for the second fall. The third fall - if needed - will be inside a steel cage. Cameron Grimes will get another shot at LA Knight’s Million Dollar Championship...and the end of his time working as Knight’s butler.. But if Grimes loses at TakeOver, Ted DiBiase will become Knight’s butler instead. Dakota Kai handed Sarray her first loss in NXT. Sarray was originally scheduled to face Ember Moon, but WWE announced before the show that Moon was not medically cleared. Odyssey Jones beat Trey Baxter to advance to the finals in the NXT Breakout Tournament. Pete Dunne pinned Ilja Dragunov with the Bitter End in last night’s main event...after NXT UK Champion WALTER showed up late in the match. Dragunov got the better of WALTER after the match. Those two are set to meet for the title at TakeOver. Gigi Dolin beat Amari Miller. Dolin was also featured in a vignette during the show. Boa beat Drake Maverick...after Mei Ying blew mist in Maverick’s eyes.. Two title matches are set for next week’s NXT: Kushida defending the Cruiserweight Title against Roderick Strong...and MSK defending the NXT Tag Titles against Imperium’s Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner. (STINGER: New Japan) Hirooki Goto, Tomohiro Ishii & YOSHI-HASHI are still the NEVER 6-Man Tag Champs. They turned away the challenge of Tetsuya Naito, SANADA & BUSHI on Tuesday. Mexico’s CMLL promotion announced Tuesday that Sansón, Cuatrero and Forastero are leaving the company. They were holding the World Trios Titles in CMLL. Those titles are now vacated.
