Lashley earned the shot on last night’s RAW by winning a 4-way main event against Big E, Seth Rollins, and Kevin Owens. Lashley pinned Owens. Lesnar appeared at the top of last night’s show…alongside Paul Heyman. Another match was made last night for the Royal Rumble - The Miz & Maryse vs. Edge & Beth Phoenix. We also have the first entrants confirmed for the Rumble match itself - Austin Theory…Rey and Dominik Mysterio…and Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins from the Street Profits. The challenger for Becky Lynch’s RAW Women’s Title at the Royal Rumble will be decided on next week’s RAW. It’ll be Bianca Belair vs. Liv Morgan vs. Doudrop. Getting back to last night’s RAW… Damian Priest beat Dolph Ziggler to retain the United States Championship. The Women’s Tag Champs Queen Zelina & Carmella got a quick win over Rhea Ripley & Nikki ASH. The Alpha Academy beat the RAW Tag Champs Randy Orton & Riddle. Otis pinned Riddle. Omos scored a dominating win over AJ Styles. The Street Profits beats Apollo Crews & Commander Azeez. 24/7 Champ Dana Brooke & Reggie won a mixed tag over Tamina & Akira Tozawa. NXT has a big show tonight. It’s New Year’s Evil! Tommaso Ciampa defends the NXT Championship against Bron Breakker in the main event. Mandy Rose puts the NXT Women’s Title on the line in a 3-Way against Raquel Gonzalez and Cora Jade. Also tonight, a Title Unification match - North American Champion Carmelo Hayes vs. Cruiserweight Champion Roderick Strong. The lineages will be combined under the North American Title. WALTER returns to NXT. He’ll team up with the NXT Tag Champs Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner…to face MSK and one-half of the RAW Tag Champs Riddle. (STINGER: WWE) WWE is heading into the first RAW of 2022 with a new WWE Champion. Brock Lesner dethroned Big E - pinning him with the F5 in the main event of Saturday’s Day 1 pay-per-view. Lesnar was added to the WWE Title match - making it a 5-Way - after his original opponent, Roman Reigns, was pulled from the show after testing positive for COVID-19. Becky Lynch is still the RAW Women’s Champion. She pinned Liv Morgan with the Manhandle Slam at Day 1. The Usos beat King Woods & Kofi Kingston to retain the SmackDown Tag Titles. Team RK-Bro held onto the RAW Tag Titles by beating the Street Profits. Also on the show…Edge pinned The Miz after Beth Phoenix arrived on the scene to run off Maryse. Drew McIntyre beat Madcap Moss. But after the match, Moss and Happy Corbin attacked McIntyre backstage and Pillmanized his neck with a steel chair. WWE tweeted late Saturday night that McIntyre “suffered a cervical neck strain with severe contusions.” On the kickoff show, Sheamus essentially won a 2-on-1 match against Cesaro & Ricochet. Sheamus’ partner Ridge Holland was knocked out of the match after a rough landing by Ricochet. Holland suffered a broken nose. (STINGER: New Japan) In Japan on Tuesday…it’s Night 1 of New Japan’s Wrestle Kingdom 16 in Tokyo Dome! Shingo Takagi defends the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against Kazuchika Okada in the main event. Will Ospreay awaits the winner on Night 2 of Wrestle Kingdom on Wednesday. Responding to comments by Big Swole on a podcast, Khan tweeted that he let her AEW contract expire because he “felt her wrestling wasn’t good enough.” (STINGER: Impact) Rohit Raju, who was appearing regularly in Impact Wrestling and is a former X-Division Champion, announced Sunday night that he is now a free agent. Homicide is the #1 Contender for the GCW World Title currently held by Jon Moxley. Homicide earned the shot by winning a battle royal at GCW’s “Die 4 This” show on New Year’s Day. On Wednesday’s Dynamite, Danielson demanded judges be on hand to decide a winner if the rematch goes to the 60-minute time limit. Kyle O’Reilly is all elite. He made a surprise debut on Dynamite, helping Adam Cole beat Orange Cassidy. The Young Bucks were out after the match and appeared confused by all of this. (STINGER: WWE) Kevin Owens is reportedly staying with WWE. Fightful reported Wednesday that Owens has re-signed with the company, ending the speculation surrounding his expiring contract and possible future plans. Today’s NXT UK has A-Kid vs. Nathan Frazer in a Heritage Cup #1 Contender Match. (STINGER: AEW) Hangman Page and Bryan Danielson went the distance on last night’s Dynamite. Their AEW Championship match ended in a 60-minute draw. Hangman retains the gold, but one must assume a rematch is coming somewhere down the line. MJF won the Dynamite Diamond Ring for the third year in a row. He forced Dante Martin to submit after a timely outside assist from Ricky Starks. Sting and Darby Allin tried a sneak attack on MJF and FTR after the match. But the numbers were too much for them. That’s when CM Punk showed up. And now we have a 6-man tag set for next Wednesday’s Dynamite: Punk, Sting & Allin vs. MJF & FTR. Also on last night’s show…Hikaru Shida beat Serena Deeb…and Wardlow made quick work of Matt Sydal. People across the world of pro wrestling are mourning the death of Jimmy Rave. He was a steady presence on the U.S. independent scene for nearly two decades…and had memorable runs in Ring Of Honor and TNA. Rave struggled with drug addiction. His health took a dramatic downturn just over a year ago when an infection led to the amputation of his left arm…and in October, BOTH of his legs. He leaves behind two children. Jimmy Rave was 39. (STINGER: WWE) The WWE Championship match at the Day 1 pay-per-view is now a 4-Way: Big E defending against Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens…and Bobby Lashley. Lashley earned his way into the match by beating all three of his Day 1 opponents in separate matches on last night’s Raw. There were plenty of shady circumstances involving all three wins, but hey…he got them. Another match added to Day 1. Liv Morgan will get another shot at Becky Lynch and the Raw Women’s Championship. Lynch attacked Morgan last night, crushing her arm between the ring steps and ring post. Also last night…Otis pinned one-half of the Raw Tag Champs Riddle. One-half of the women’s tag champs Queen Zelina pinned Rhea Ripley with a rollup in less than a minute after Ripley got distracted by Nikki ASH getting superkicked by Carmella. Bianca Belair pinned Doudrop with a 450 splash. But Doudrop laid out Belair after the match. Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode beat United States Champion Damian Priest & Finn Balor. Ziggler pinned Balor with the ZigZag after Balor got distracted by Austin Theory taking a selfie on the ring apron. The RK-Bro-nament final did NOT happen last night. (STINGER: ROH) Jonathan Gresham is the NEW - and perhaps the last - Ring Of Honor World Champion. He beat Jay Lethal in the main event of Saturday night’s Final Battle pay-per-view. Gresham was presented the original ROH World Title belt. The Briscoes beat The OGK to win the ROH Tag Titles. After the match, FTR made a surprise appearance and got into a big brawl with The Briscoes. That was not the only surprise Saturday night. After Brody King, Tony Deppen, Homicide & Rocky Romero beat HOT SAUCE Tracy Williams, Taylor Rust, Eli Isom & EC3, EC3 took the mic, went on a brief rant and then introduced Adam Scherr - the former Braun Strowman. Also on the show, NZO won his MLW debut over Matt Cross. Arez beat Aramis…and was rewarded with a briefcase full of cash. And Alex Hammerstone was attacked backstage by Matanza Duran…and they brawled basically all over the place. (STINGER: New Japan) There is now a three-way tie for the top spot in New Japan’s World Tag League tournament. Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI beat Great-O-Khan & Aaron Henare to move to 16 points. Tetsuya Naito & SANADA…and Taichi & Zack Sabre Jr. kept pace with wins on Thursday to also get to 16 points. The final day of pool matches is on Sunday. Saturday is the last day of pool matches in the Best Of The Super Juniors. The top two men in the standings will advance to Wednesday’s final. Hiromu Takahashi and El Desperado will enter the day tied for first at 13 points. Takahashi will face Robbie Eagles, who is one of four men just one point behind the leaders. Despy will face El Phantasmo, who is mathematically eliminated. SHO and YOH will go head to head. Both are still alive in the tournament - just a point back of the leaders. Jim Ross noted on Twitter that Lanza was also the WWF’s lead agent backstage during the Attitude Era. Blackjack Lanza was 86. (STINGER: AEW) The Best Friends are whole once again. Trent made a dramatic return from injury during last night’s Dynamite, arriving in a minivan driven by his mom Sue. Trent ran off the SuperKliq, who were delivering a beatdown after the Young Bucks beat the tandem of Chuck Taylor & Rocky Romero. The Bucks put away Romero with the Meltzer Driver. MJF will face Dante Martin on next week’s Dynamite for the Dynamite Diamond Ring. They were the last two men left in the ring at the end of the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royale last night. The last elimination came when Martin turned on Ricky Starks and tossed him out. So, Martin’s very brief tenure in Team Taz is apparently already over. Riho beat Jamie Hayter. (STINGER: WWE) The return of Brock Lesnar is being promoted for tonight’s SmackDown in San Antonio, Texas. Lesnar has been off of WWE TV since late October - when he was hit with a storyline suspension for laying out Adam Pearce. As of Thursday night, no matches are announced for Friday’s SmackDown. WWE is postponing four live event dates in Canada scheduled for next month. No reason was given. A pair of Canadian dates at the end of this month - including a show in Toronto - are still going on as scheduled. Beth Phoenix announced Thursday she will step away from the announcer’s desk on NXT following Sunday’s WarGames pay-per-view. A sudden ending to a championship match on Thursday’s NXT UK. Ilja Dragunov defeated Rampage Brown via referee stoppage to retain his UK Championship. The end came when Dragunov connected with a somewhat innocuous-looking kick to Brown’s head. But it apparently rocked Brown because he stayed down and the ref called for the bell. Meiko Satomura is still the NXT UK Women’s Champion. He successfully defended her title against Xia Brookside. Also on the show, Saxon Huxley beat Kenny Williams. (STINGER: AEW) The TNT Championship is on the line on tonight’s AEW Rampage. Sammy Guevara defends against Tony Nese. FTR will face Penta El Zero Miedo & PAC. This was originally set to be an AEW Tag Title match, but Rey Fenix was pulled due to travel issues. Also tonight, Jade Cargill will be in action against Janai Kai. (STINGER: Impact) The main event for Impact Wrestling’s Hard To Kill pay-per-view is now set. It’ll be Moose defending the Impact World Title in a 3-Way...against Matt Cardona and W. Morrissey. Cardona & Eddie Edwards beat Moose & Morrissey in last night’s main event. Cardona caught Moose in a rollup and pinned the champ. After the match, Morrissey laid out Moose. That alliance is apparently OVER. NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, Pete Dunne & LA Knight vs. Bron Breakker, North American Champ Carmelo Hayes, Grayson Waller & Tony D’Angelo. D’Angelo helped Hayes retain the North American Title on last night’s NXT. Hayes pinned Gargano to win the 3-Way main event that also included Dunne. A huge brawl followed the match, which included Breakker entering the arena and simply yelling “WarGames!” So...there you go. By the way, Ciampa beat Waller in a non-title match earlier in the show. The final participant in the women’s WarGames match was confirmed last night. It’ll be Kay Lee Ray joining Raquel Gonzalez, Io Shirai & Cora Jade. A fan crossed the barricade and tackled Seth Rollins to the ground during last night’s RAW at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Two WWE referees immediately tried to pull the fan off Rollins, but it was at least 10 seconds before security finally intervened and allowed Rollins to get back to his feet. WWE released a statement, saying the fan was “turned over to the NYPD and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law." The attack happened around 9PM Eastern, after Rollins had just beaten up Finn Balor during an in-ring segment. Turning to more trivial matters from last night’s RAW. It turns out Austin Theory stole Cleopatra’s Egg during Survivor Series. Despite threats of more serious consequences, Vince McMahon rewarded Theory with a title match against WWE Champion Big E. Big E pinned Theory with the Big Ending to get the win. Two titles changed hands last night. First, Carmella & Queen Zelina are the NEW WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. They beat Rhea Ripley & Nikki A.S.H. Zelina pinned Nikki. The 24/7 Title changed hands TWICE last night. First, Cedric Alexander beat Reggie in a straight-up match. And then, in the aftermath of the match, Dana Brooke pinned Alexander to take the title...and escaped the building without further incident.
