From the Podium: DK cites Tyler as a mentor for his toe-tap skills

In the Seahawks 31-21 win over the Arizona Cardinals, we got to see some fancy footwork in the back of the end zone by DK Metcalf. DK was asked if he knew for sure that he had the touchdown. Geno Smith talked about the three touchdown drives he led in the second half and what those drives say about the team. Ryan Neal got his moment on the podium to talk about the forced fumble he made to help keep points off the board heading into halftime. Finally, we hear from Pete Carroll as we're already looking ahead to Sunday's game in Germany against the Bucs.

3 IN, 3 OUT: Uncle Will's Really Good Week

Just like every good baseball team needs a solid closer, the Seattle Seahawks may have found a player to help close out their wins with running back Ken Walker. However, as we dive into the nooks and crannies of this week's win, there might be one spot in the rookie's game in need of improvement. Michael Jackson came up with a soul crushing play on defense and Noah Fant had an impressive performance on offense. But when it came to Will Dissly, we had a hard time deciding if he came up more clutch in the blocking game or the receiving game. 2022 Podcast Pick'em League This episode was sponsored by Liquid Death. Live and UnCatfished: Seahawks vs Cardinals Week 9 Postgame Reaction

After spotting the Arizona Cardinals seven points and allowing the NFC West rival to take the lead, the Seahawks offense turned things around and never looked back on their way to a 31-21 victory. Ken Walker took over the second half of the game and helped close out the victory along with a big play by Noah Fant. Tyler Lockett came up short on a third down earlier in the game and then redeemed himself with a big third down pickup and touchdown in the second half. We also give credit to Ryan Neal, Tariq Woolen and the Seahawks defense to help limit DeAndre Hopkins to just four catches for minimal gains on the day. Ep 389389: The Seahawks defense steps up to shut down the Giants offense

After dominating the New York Giants last week, the Seahawks remain at the top of the NFC West standings. Although Tyler Lockett had a rough day, he was able to redeem himself in the end. There were moments on camera during the game and even after the game that shows just how close this team is growing together. Ken Walker didn't jump off the stat sheet, but he still jumped off the screen with his one touchdown run. The Seahawks defense completely shut down the Giants run game and were all over Daniel Jones early on when he tried to escape from the pocket. The defense will be tested in a different way this week now that DeAndre Hopkins is back in the lineup for the Arizona Cardinals. Will the coaching staff make the smart move to avoid matching up Hopkins on Tariq Woolen, or will they try and go after the rookie corner? And will the addition to the passing game help open up a run game for the Cardinals that got shut down just a couple weeks ago. Another question is if the Cardinals defense will attack the Seattle offense the same way or if they'll now try and shut down Ken Walker and the Seahawks run game. It was the trade deadline for the Seahawks this week. Were there any trades we wish the Seahawks would have been able to get in on? We run through the list of trades and the compensation. Do better call outs go to the national media for hyping up a 49ers team that simply won a game they always win and for some recent airline trouble. NFL Films and a Seahawks special teamer earn Better at Life honors. 2022 Podcast Pick'em League This episode was sponsored by Liquid Death. From the Podium: Tyler Lockett bounces back after early struggles vs Giants

The Seahawks got the 27-13 victory over the New York Giants on Sunday, but heading into the fourth quarter the outcome was nowhere near close to a lock. Part of that were due to some uncharacteristic struggles by Tyler Lockett who failed to get both feet in bounds on a touchdown catch, fumbled the ball near the goal line and hand a touchdown catch glance off his facemask and fall incomplete. Pete Carroll revealed what he said to Tyler following that play, even though Lockett said he wasn't sure Pete was telling the truth. Support the show Get in the Flock! Live and UnCatfished: Seahawks vs Giants Postgame Reaction

The Seattle Seahawks run defense was questionable, and that's being generous, through the first few weeks of the season. It was enough to give pause to the idea that they'd be able to stop Saquon Barkley and Daniel Jones. The defensive line had another solid performance finishing the day with five sacks and holding Barkley under 60 yards. Jones also struggled to make plays on the ground. The Seahawks offense sputtered throughout the first three quarters due to some uncharacteristic drops. The Giants defense came in prepared to stop Ken Walker and held him relatively in check. But Geno Smith was able to help put the game out of reach with a five-play, five-pass drive that ended with a 33-yard touchdown catch by Tyler Lockett. Support the show Get in the Flock! Ep 388388: The Loser is Not For Real Bowl

Since the season started with the Seahawks Super Bowl (facing off against Russ and the Denver Broncos), Adam is continuing with the theme of naming a lot of these matchups. Geno Smith is on the third leg of his "revenge tour" as one listener points out that he's 2-0 now going up against Russ and a former team in the Chargers. This week's theme? The loser is not for real. There are questions surrounding both the Giants and the Seahawks if their success can be sustainable throughout the season and are legitimate playoff teams. This game should decide which team is not a legit contender. This game will also let us know if the improvements Seattle made on defense to defend the run will hold up. Not only do they face a talented back in Saquon Barkley, Daniel Jones has been running wild on teams as well. The Seahawks are now on top of the division after their win over the Chargers last week. The Arizona Cardinals and 49ers aren't far behind though. Plus, Frisco made a big more this week to acquire a running back to help them down the stretch. But will it be a good move for the long term? Congratulations to Hard Tellin' Not Knowin'! for the Week 6 pickem win and Toonhawk for the Week 7 win. In Do Better, some of the criticism around Russ is starting to go too far and a Chargers fan was photographed going over the line of decency this week. Better at life honors go out to a college football player and to DK Metcalf. 2022 Podcast Pick'em League This episode was sponsored by Liquid Death. Live and UnCatfished: Seahawks vs Chargers Postgame Reaction

The Seattle Seahawks went on the road and thumped the Los Angeles chargers 37-23 this week. Geno Smith was on point, efficient and likely has a better day if not for a couple passes that should have been caught. Ken Walker had a breakout game rushing for more than 150 yards and two touchdowns. On defense, we're much closer to seeing a trend of solid defense. What changed in the past couple weeks? Pete Carroll provided some clues in one of his interviews this week. On top of the win, we get to celebrate losses to the Niners and Broncos.

Ep 387387: Defense (somewhat) Optional Bowl II preview

The Seahawks came back to take the lead after being down two scores going into the fourth quarter against the New Orleans Saints. Unfortunately, it was the defenses inability to stop Taysom Hill from doing anything that showed up once again in the fourth quarter and allowed the go ahead score. There were some moments in the game where questionable calls played a part, and we discuss those too, but this was a game that the defense should have the ability to put away. Of course, special teams didn't help out the team in this game either. So, should we as Seahawks fans be upset with how this season is playing out? Or should we be content? Seattle fans shouldn't be content with a loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Don't be fooled by the close score against the Philadelphia Eagles last week, because this Cardinals team is not good. They deserve to be at the bottom of the division and so the Seahawks could and should be the ones to put them there. Seattle may not even be the second worst team in the division this season after seeing what's going on down in Los Angeles. With that said, should playoffs be a consideration for Seattle this season? We get into it in the second half of the show. This week we have a tentative title for Adam's Garbage Time Picks. We're open to other listener suggestions going forward. Even knowing that he needed about 13 picks right, Adam couldn't take the lead. Instead it was a tie for the win this week in pick'em betwee Fant-astic Stalactit(e)s and Uncle Will's Mustache. 3 IN, 3 OUT: Your Unique Seahawks vs Saints Recap

After several years of pulling the INs and OUTs from the micro moments in the game, we've come across one where most of the biggest moments were in the biggest plays. On the long run by Taysom Hill, we talk about the player who got pushed out of the play the most. When the Seahawks needed to come back after going down in the third quarter, there was a drop by a player who rarely drops the football and it would have extended a drive. Of course there was one of our defensive team captains that we had to celebrate, because when he makes big plays, he jumps off the screen. Support the show Get in the Flock! Live and UnCatfished: Seahawks vs Saints Postgame Reaction

Once again the Seahawks defense struggled to keep the opposition out of the end zone. Taysom Hill and Alvin Kamara teamed up to rush for more than 200 yards on the ground and put up 39 points. The defense managed two takeaways on the day, but struggled inside the red zone. The offense for the Seahawks put up more than 30 points again and Geno Smith nearly had 300 yards on the day if not for a costly penalty that took a deep touchdown to DK Metcalf off the board. Decisions by the officiating crew also played a part in two key moments. Can we be content with knowing the Seahawks could be in position to draft top talent on defense, or will they be able to fix things this season in time to compete for a division title? 2022 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock! Ep 386386: Geno Smith is officially on Rich Gannon career resurgence watch

With the Seahawks 48-45 performance against the Detroit Lions, it helped earn several players league-wide recognition for their performance. Geno Smith was named player of the week, Rashaad Penny earned the honor of the ground player of the week and Tariq Woolen was among the finalists for top defensive honors. But was that good football overall? And how did it compare to the shootout we watched a few years back between the Chiefs and Rams? There is some optimism that the Seahawks may be able to turn things around defensively with a few players who were injured early in the season working their way back into the lineup. There are also reason to believe that the Seahawks offense and Geno Smith can have sustained success. Geno is officially on the Rich Gannon late-career surge watch list. If you don't know who Gannon is, we explain. The Seahawks will face a difficult test on the road this week though as they take on the New Orleans Saints. Pete Carroll has lost three straight regular season games against the Saints and Geno was at the helm the last time these two teams faced. Will Alvin Kamara play this week and what would his presence mean toward the game's outcome? Can Nick Vannett be the relatively anonymous tight end this week that destroys the Seahawks defense? In the second half of the show, we take a look at the state of the Los Angeles Rams as they suffered yet another loss to the 49ers. Which 2-2 team in the NFC West is in the driver seat for the conference title? There was one moment from that Monday Night Football that will be etched in our memory though and we discuss it in both the Do Better and Better at Life segments on this week's show. 2022 Podcast Pick'em League This episode was sponsored by Liquid Death. From the Podium: Penny comes up with a big play on 3rd down

In addition to celebrating a 48-45 victory, the Seahawks were able to celebrate an addition to the Meyers family after the game. Rashaad Penny was a big factor in the win over the Lions after running for a touchdown on a 3rd and 16 and going over 150 yards on the day. DK Metcalf also had a big day and clarified his comments from before the game regarding the Detroit cornerback he faced off against. Quandre Diggs had a chance to reflect on his return to the city where he started his NFL career. Finally, Pete Carroll talked about a couple players on Monday who we can expect to see getting more snaps in the weeks ahead. Support the show Get in the Flock! Live and UnCatfished: Seahawks vs Lions Postgame Reaction

As predicted earlier this week, it was a defense optional game for both the Lions and Seahawks. Fortunately for Seattle, they were able to maintain a lead throughout the game as Geno Smith helped lead the offense on a punt-free day. DK Metcalf led the team through the air as Rashaad Penny had a two-breakaway touchdown performance on the ground. But can the Seahawks sustain success with the way the defense continues to perform? Tune in as we get the live reaction from those who joined in the postgame discussion. Support the show Get in the Flock! Glover Quinn of Bleav in Lions previews Sunday's matchup

Former Detroit Lions safety Glover Quin joined the show this week to preview the matchup between the Lions and Seahawks. Amon-Ra St. Brown and D'Andre Swift were questionable toward the middle of the week and are now out, which made it difficult to predict how this matchup could go. Quin talks about some of the questions surrounding the team coming out of the game against the Vikings and heading into the matchup with the Seahawks. The video of the interview is available on YouTube.

Ep 385385: Seahawks lack on consistency on defense is holding the team back

The Seattle Seahawks offense bounced back after six straight quarters of failing to score as we saw a unit that can at least put up points against sub-par defenses. Defensively for Seattle, it appears to be a different story. Are they a broken unit? Or can Pete Carroll and Clint Hurtt find a way to get the guys in position to at least stop the run? Seattle will give us a chance to help us answer those questions again this week as they go up against a very similar team to the Falcons. The Detroit Lions defense is among the worst (if not the worst) in the league and they have solid pass catchers and a strong run game when they're healthy. But with injuries to key players on the Lions offense, could we see the Seahawks defense step up? In the second half of the show, we enjoy some 49ers vs Broncos schadenfreude. We may have a new segment for the show as Adam continues to forget to make his picks ahead of the games. Matt Calkins of the Seattle Times and Patrick Daugherty both need to do better considering their takes on the Seahawks this past week. Finally, NASA and hurricane reporters earn a better at life nod this week. 2022 Podcast Pick'em League This episode was sponsored by Liquid Death. Live and UnCatfished: Seahawks vs Falcons Postgame Reaction

In the first two games of the season, the Seahawks defense struggled against the run. It was no different against the Falcons as they failed to contain Cordarrelle Patterson. In addition, they gave up a 3rd and 19 that allowed Atlanta to continue a key drive in the first half. In this post-game show we take a look at some of the moments that ultimately cost Seattle a win, especially considering how they had an opportunity to pull through at the end of the game. Ep 384384: Penalties, turnovers and emotions bring Seahawks back down to Earth

After flying high from a Week 1 victory over the Denver Broncos, the Seahawks returned to earth following their matchup in Santa Clara. Geno Smith was efficient in the passing game, but Seattle was never able to run the ball effectively and got run over early by the 49ers offense. Was this game closer than the score indicated though? Or was the outcome indicative of a more dominant San Francisco team that now has a quarterback capable of taking this team into the playoffs? The Seahawks could face a tougher matchup that initially expected when we looked at the schedule this offseason. The Falcons made a strong effort to come back against the Rams last week and gave up a big lead to the New Orleans Saints in Week 1. There's one player for Atlanta who the Seahawks may not have a good answer for on defense. Plus, they're a team that has found a run game after Matt Ryan left for Indianapolis. Fans got the news this past week that Shaun Alexander is being inducted into the Seahawks Ring of Honor coming up in October. We are also forced to come up with a rationale that allows us as fans to be okay with the San Francisco 49ers going on a two-game win streak. We close the show by calling out a rogue agent in the guest booking industry and to an event that caused hotel prices to skyrocket in Oregon. Better at life honors go out to an NFL fan base that discovered a new and creative way to motivate their team's coach. 2022 Podcast Pick'em League This episode was sponsored by Liquid Death. From the Podium: Did a Week 1 victory emotionally impact Sunday's loss?

The Seahawks were riding a wave of positive emotions coming off the Monday Night Football win. Did that have an impact on how the team played Sunday against the 49ers? Pete Carroll, Geno Smith and Quandre Diggs each offered their perspective on if that was a factor in the loss. Tyler Lockett talked about some of the struggles offensively and took accountability for what he could have done differently to prevent a key turnover. 2022 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock! 3 IN, 3 OUT: Seahawks DBs set negative tone early vs Niners

In a 27-7 loss where the offense failed to score, one would think there is little to point to in terms of the positives. But this is 3 IN, 3 OUT where we will always look for some positive components of the game to balance out the negatives we saw. There was a rookie on the Seahawks offense whose numbers jumped off the screen especially compared to an NFL veteran. Plus, a rookie on defense could be poised to see more playing time if he keeps producing the numbers we saw against the Niners. Sit back and enjoy as we get into some of the micro-moments (both positive and negative) from this week's game against the San Francisco 49ers. 2022 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock! Live and UnCatfished: Seahawks vs Niners Postgame Reaction

With the loss to the San Francisco 49ers, the Seahawks NFC West rival was finally able to get their win percentage up over .300 against Pete Carroll. Seattle's inability to get the run game going with either Rashaad Penny or Ken Walker was a major part of Seattle failing to score on offense. Of course the ridiculously terrible throw by Deejay Dallas at the goal line didn't help things much either. On the defensive side, the Seahawks defense couldn't do much to stop the run and multiple pass interference penalties allowed the 49ers to extend key drives. But there were some special teams moments to highlight! 2022 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock!
