In the beginning of this season, we thought how nice it would be to have a season without expectations. A relatively stress free season where we can look ahead to the future and growth of a draft class we had high expectations for. Partway through the season, the record scratched and suddenly it looked like our team could actually make the playoffs. The Seahawks coaches and players have been following the news of Damar Hamlin throughout the week, and a couple of the Seahawks veterans spoke candidly about their acceptance of the potential risks. The Seahawks get back to .500 with a win at home over the New York Jets in Week 17. It comes down to the final week against a division rival to see if the Seahawks can close the season with a winning record. The Seahawks got out to an early lead against the New York Jets and never looked back. The Jets secondary, however, were able to shut down DK Metcalf limiting him to just three yards on the day. But it was Ken Walker and DeeJay Dallas combining for more than 200 yards that propelled the offense. Even though the defense gave up a fair share of explosive plays, they were able to make stops when necessary and limit the Jets to just two field goals. The win puts the Seahawks in position to take the seventh seed in the playoffs next week, but they're going to need some help. Tune in as we talk about the potential playoff scenarios if all goes to plan next week.

This week on PNW Prop Stars, Adam rifles in his picks from the middle of an atmospheric river from an undisclosed location in Eastern Oregon. He bets on the Geno show to keep on rocking, Clinton thinks the party may be over and takes the under. Wilson, meanwhile, is unconvinced about the alleged talents of Mike White. The Seattle Seahawks continue to struggle after the bye week. This past week, the defense was able to hold together well enough, but the offense struggled to put points on the board. All we want for Christmas is for yards to matter instead of the final score. The Seahawks defense was able to hold Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs to fewer than 300 yards on Saturday. But, on a day where the defense had some success (apart from creating turnovers) the offense wasn't effective enough to produce more than 10 points. Even with the loss, Seattle was helped by several other teams who stumbled this week and allowed them to stay in the playoff picture. Pro Bowl selections were announced this week and Geno Smith was among the top quarterbacks selected. Tariq Woolen was the only rookie on the team to be selected and was joined on defense by safety Quandre Diggs. Jason Myers also made the team. Each player was on the podium this week to react to their selection and Pete Carroll offered his thoughts as well. We also hear from Geno, Pete and others about today's matchup against the Chiefs. With the San Francisco 49ers win and losses by both the Cardinals and Rams, Arizona and LA are the only teams in competition for the cellar in the division. Although many Seahawks fans would have been happy to accept a top two finish in the division, an emotional loss to the 49ers and a struggling defense has some fans looking ahead to a post-Pete Carroll future. But wouldn't this outcome have been considered a success six months ago? It's going to be difficult though to stay above .500 with the Kansas City Chiefs as the next opponent on the schedule. However, the Chiefs weakness on defense has been the strength of the Seattle team this season. It has the potential to be a high scoring affair even without Tyler Lockett on the field to help the offense. Can the defensive staff concoct a way to slow down Patrick Mahomes and Travic Kelce though? While we have the Broncos to thank for helping ensure Seattle won't finish below Arizona, it came at the potential expsene of the 2nd overall pick. The Seahawks defense followed up their performance against the Panthers by holding the 49ers offense to a score that allowed their offense to have a shot late in the game. But was it largely the performance of the defense or the coaching on the Niners that allowed this game to stay as close? Game planning was also an issue for the Seahawks offense as Geno Smith spent a majority of his time stationary in the pocket to face a strong pass rush. After the Seahawks were destroyed by the run game against the Carolina Panthers, it doesn't get much easier for the defense facing the San Francisco 49ers tonight. Pete Carroll was asked about what needs to be done to fix this team's ability to stop the run. Based on his answer, it is more of a personnel problem than scheme problem. Don't expect a fix this season. The Niners have been dealing with injury issues at quarterback, but they haven't seemed to lose anything with Brock Purdy at the helm. With Purdy fighting through injury, will we see Josh Johnson on the field? Will it even matter considering that it's no secret how San Francisco should attack this Seahawks defense? The Seahawks defense can't stop the run and so the Carolina Panthers coaching staff did what any good team should do to Seattle - keep running the plays that work until they get stopped. The Seattle Seahawks survived a nail biter on Sunday with a win over the Los Angeles Rams. Geno Smith, DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett dominated the Rams secondary even with an offensive line that struggled against some of the Rams backups. Smith earned his first fourth quarter comeback with the Seahawks and DK earned his spot as perhaps the best receiver in the NFL. The game still shouldn't have been as close as it was, and part of the reason was to an interception call that made a great Bobby Wagner game even better. Adam has some thoughts on the call. The Seahawks return to starting in the IN column this week with the 27-23 victory over the Los Angeles Rams and we kick off the show with some Seahawks offensive moments from the first drive.
