417: Out of the bye and into a measuring-stick game
The Cincinnati Bengals vanquished another NFC West rival in Week 5 of the NFL season. Coming off a win against the Arizona Cardinals, they head back to their home stadium where they beat the Rams in Week 3. The Seahawks are coming off a bye, hopefully with some health restored. They'll need it on both sides of the ball. The offensive line faces off against a pair of pass rushing defensive ends and the defense needs to contact with the Burrow to Chase connection. Having Jamal Adams as part of the pass rush or in pass coverage will be a big help, but can they find a way to use Adams and Witherspoon in some creative ways? They'll certainly be tested with Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase coming off of their first big game of the year. With the San Francisco 49ers starting the season strong, we get into fan fiction territory in the second half of the show. We also go back to the Marshawn Lynch interview with Shannon Sharpe following the fallout and reaction. A Wall Street Journal reporter and the NFL both need to do better. Better at life honors go out to a member of the Indianapolis Colts and to our Seahawks head coach. 2023 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock! Ep 416416: Seahawks GM John Schneider can take a bow after Week 4
The Seahawks defense gave their most dominant performance of the season during their 24-3 win over the New York Giants. Daniel Jones was sacked into oblivion and Seattle's top draft pick helped to seal the victory. It wasn't just the Witherspoon pick on display, but many of the moves made by General Manager John Schneider in recent years. Drew Lock linked up with Noah Fant to provide another highlight of the Russell Wilson trade along with Witherspoon. Offseason acquisition Mario Edwards had a sack fumble, top picks from last year Boye Mafe and Ken Walker also had impactful plays. Even hiring decisions by the front office like Shane Waldron and Andy Dickerson are paying dividends when you look at the ability of the offense to operate despite all of the injuries. Jamal Adams was a notable injury in the game, and it may have been what triggered Devon Witherspoon to have such a big game versus the Giants. The Rams were able to come back in overtime this week to remain just one game back from the Seahawks. The 49ers are annoyingly good through four games and the Cardinals look much more competent than they were expected to be at the start of the year. We go through Week 5 picks, talk about some aspects of football that need to Do Better and award Better at Life honors for the week. 2023 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock! 3 IN, 3 OUT: Carnage at MetLife
Absolute carnage and Giants fans tears were the vibe at MetLife Stadium. Brandan and Clinton recap this sack bloodbath the only way 3 IN, 3 OUT can do it - with all them great unique nooks n' crannies! We start with an IN and the Hawkra keeps rising as we cover the other heroes of Monday's manslaughter. Brand-In's gotta talk Spoon but for a different reason and we think you'll Love who wins the MVC - Most Valuable Cranny - for this week too. Finally, did Clinton mention that he was there?
Historic outing by the Seahawks defense in Lumen East
The Seattle Seahawks had 11 sacks on Daniel Jones on their way to a 24-3 victory at Lumen Field east. The win didn't come without a cost though. Geno Smith, Jamal Adams, Jarren Reed, Phil Haynes, and Damien Lewis all had to leave the game due to injuries. However, we were treated to an electric performance by Devon Witherspoon. His interception return made it so the Seahawks defense could finally earn a red zone stop on the year. Ep 415415: Still seeing meat on the bone for the Seahawks offense
After scoring 37 points in back to back weeks, you'd think Seahawks fans would be content with the performance of the offense. Yet, it still feels like there are opportunities to improve. It wasn't until late in the game against the Panthers when the team started converting their scoring opportunities rather than kicking field goals. With several backup offensive linemen in the game, their rookie receiver still working into the offense, and seeing growth from their rookie running back - improvement seems inevitable. Can Jamal Adams come back and help the Seahawks defense to improve? There's one area on defense that the team literally can't get any worse. With Riq Woolen set to return as well, we could finally start to see this defensive squad meet its potential as well. The bye week is just around the corner and a solid performance against the New York Giants could be what this team needs to propel them through the rest of the year. But are there reasons to be concerned with the Giants despite their slow start? We pick up the storyline that is taking the NFL by storm this week. And in back-to-back weeks Adam has his picks in ahead of the game. Everett C. took the top spot in the pick'em this past week with the tie breaker. We also talk about the 70 point win by the Miami Dolphins this past week and how it benefits the former Seahawks QB. The Dolphins coach deserves a 'Do Better' for not making history and the trade that everyone seems to think is a great idea needs to stop. Better at life honors go out to a Dolphins coach and to a Seahawks running back for an award-winning Week 3 performance. 2023 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock! Live & UnCatfished: Seahawks vs Panthers Week 3 Reaction
The Seahawks were down three starting offensive linemen heading into Week 3 of the season and facing one of the league's most better pass rushers. Still, the Seattle offense managed more than 150 yards rushing and 300+ receiving on the day on their way to a 37-27 victory. Yes, the defense had some issues throughout the game and even Geno failed to connect on some key moments, and we talk about those rough moments as well as some of the best moments. Jake Bobo, Ken Walker and Zach Charbonnet all gave us some big moments to cheer for during the victory. 2023 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock! PNW Prop Stars: Seahawks vs Panthers Week 3 - Our Nine Best Bets & Props
Results were a mixed back last week. One co-host was skunked, another made a few bucks, and someone's wagers paid off big. Will there be another parlay party this week? Can last year's champ get back into the green? With Bryce Young reportedly sitting out, we'll discuss how that could impact this week's strategy.
What If?. . . America Hears the Seahawks
The Seahawks take on a young Panthers team amidst a rash of injuries for our boys in the Action Green. A big change took place on Thursday (after recording) that makes it look like they'll face off against Andy Dalton instead of Bryce Young. Can the Seahawks keep being heard as a team to reckon with or will these young kittens with their backup QB throw a monkey wrench into our early season plans? 2023 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock! Ep 414414: Drew Lock - the Seahawks unsung overtime MVP
Did the hopes for the Seahawks 2023 season hang on the result of a coin flip? If Geno Smith doesn't get the ball in overtime with a chance at redemption, then our postgame commentary about our quarterback would have been much more critical. Ken Walker and Tyler Lockett each scored two touchdowns, including the game winner by Lockett. Tyler explained why he decided to go against one of the team's primary coaching points and, of course, Coach Carroll took no issue with it. The Carolina Panthers come into town with the first pick overall leading the team at quarterback. Just like the Seahawks, the Panthers are playing without two of their starting offensive lineman. Dre'mont Jones could be due for a big game in the interior of the defensive line. The Seahawks may also need him to help stop a rushing attack led by Miles Sanders. Could the defense get a boost with a possible return of Jamal Adams? Despite allowing the Rams to take some momentum into Week 2 of the season, the 49ers were able to pull ahead in the fourth quarter to take the top spot in the division for now. The Cardinals are hanging in games, even if they're giving up huge leads to the likes of Daniel Jones. Do better call outs go to the votes of the air player of the week and some bad officiating. Better at Life honors go to Nick Chubb and a Colts player who scored his first NFL touchdown.
Seattle vs. Carolina Week 3 Preview w/former Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart
Pro Bowl running back Jonathan Stewart joins the show to look ahead to the Seahawks Week 3 matchup against the Carolina Panthers. Despite a pair of injured guards, look for the Panthers to try and run the ball against the Seahawks defense to help open things up for their rookie quarterback Bryce Young. Tyler Lockett scored the game winning touchdown in overtime to help the Seahawks get the win on the road in Detroit. Lockett joined Ken Walker who had two touchdowns on the ground. Seattle at Detroit Preview w/Glover Quin of Bleav in Lions
With the Lions coming off an opening week victory against the Super Bowl Champs, how does a opening week win impact a team to kick off the season? Glover Quin of the Bleav in Lions podcast was a part of the Houston Texans when they took down Peyton Manning and the Colts coming off their Super Bowl appearance. We heard how the Rams 'wanted it move' this past week. Glover explains what players really won't say when it comes to admitting defeat.
What If? . . .The Seahawks Get Back Up
Why do we fall sir? So we can learn to pick ourselves back up. It's been ... a week and our Seahawks are battered, beaten, but not broken. Mr. Phil, Brandan, and Clinton examine this week's matchup vs. the Lions as we ponder will our Seahawks Free Fall w/o our Tackles or will we Fall in Love with a new found resiliency? If we're going to win, how the heck will it happen? We discuss it all on this week's Sea Hawkers What If?
Ep 413413: Seahawks Fans Biggest Fears Exposed
The problem with having high expectations going into the season is that just one half of football can make a fan believe that it was all a mirage. Were we drinking the Kool-Aid in the offseason or was Sean McVay and Matt Stafford take advantage of a Week 1 opportunity against Seattle? Time will tell. In the meantime, we explore the Seahawks defensive woes and the lack of an effective pass rush. Both tackles went down to injury and were a big reason for the offensive struggles in the second half. We discuss some things the offense could have done differently against the Rams defense. Injuries will continue to have an impact on the offensive line in Week 2 as 20-year veteran Jason Peters was signed to the practice squad this week. Abe Lucas was moved to injured reserve and will have to miss the next four games at a minimum. Will Charles Cross be next to the IR or can the team somehow manage his foot injury. Looking ahead to the game against the Lions we talk about what has to turn for the Seahawks to bounce back from their disappointing Week 1 performance. In the second half of the show, we talk about one game on the schedule that is guaranteed to help the Seahawks in the NFC West standings, even if we can't decide who to cheer for. Adam offers his bold predictions for the outcome of Week 1 games. The NFL quarterbacks who got paid this offseason need to do better and so do the fans who immediately start calling for Pete Carroll's job after one game. Better at life honors go out to a helpful gameday gadget and to a former Seahawks running back. 2023 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock! What If? . . .The Seahawks Slaughter the Rams
Mr. Phil has "One Love" for week "One" as Brandan and Clinton raise the Hawkra and help us all get ready for week 1 vs. our rivals, the Los Angeles Rams. Who do we expect to shine? What can we look to exploit versus a depleted Rams defense? We canvass it all on week 1 Sea Hawkers What If?
412: Bobby Wagner's impact should be obvious versus the LA Rams
The Seattle Seahawks kick off their 2023 campaign with a matchup against the division rival Los Angeles Rams. Even though the NFL tried to do the Rams a favor by pitting them against Seattle to kick off the year, Cooper Kupp may not play in this game due to a hamstring injury. Even if their top wideout sits out, we should learn some things about the Seahawks secondary vs Matt Stafford. Cam Akers rushed for more than 100 yards against the Seahawks defense last year. It gives Bobby Wagner the perfect opportunity to draw a contrast to last year's squad. We'll also learn some things about the Rams if Geno takes the opportunity to go after this young secondary. We also discuss how upset this game could potentially make us if some of our offseason fears are realized. The 49ers could struggle out of the gate if they don't have their top pass rusher signed. Is it possible that the holdout lasts beyond the first two weeks of the season? The Arizona Cardinals are likely to struggle through the entire season and it may be intentional. Our pick'em league overlord lays down the rules for this year's league. You don't want to face the punishment that awaits if you mess up. The Four Most Intriguing Matchups of the 2023 Seahawks Season
The Seahawks made a couple of moves after teams cut their roster to 53 active players. What do the additions of linebacker Drake Thomas and cornerback Kyu Blu Kelly mean regarding the depth of the Seahawks roster? Jake Bobo also made the team and there's more to the story with his reported 4.9 40-yard-dash time. Live & UnCatfished: A look at the 2023 Seahawks 53-man roster
Jake Bobo did it! An undrafted wide receiver we were all rooting for actually pulled it off. But even though Bobo pulled through, there were some other cuts who we wanted to make the 53-man roster. Adam and Brandan go through the cuts, discuss which areas of the team have the strongest depth and which ones could still use some help as the Seahawks head into the regular season. Plus, with a few injuries, we could see some of our preseason favorites back on the 53 later on this week.
3 IN, 3 OUT: Seahawks Fantasy Outlook - Who to Draft, Pass, and Stash

Which players are over-drafted? Which players are huge values? And why in the world was Clinton able to snag K9 in the 4th round of a draft yesterday!!!
3 IN, 3 OUT: Who Makes the Roster?
The Seahawks may have a roster battle going on for the last spot at defensive end, but there could also be a battle along the interior. Which one is more intriguing? DeeJay Dallas offered up a cryptic tweet on Sunday that has us wondering if a shakeup inside the running back room could be on the horizon. Plus, we dig into some of the micro-moments from the Seahawks preseason loss to the Green Bay Packers.
Live & UnCatfished: Who shined in the Seahawks final preseason game?
The Seahawks failed to go undefeated in the preseason, but the game against the Packers provided some fourth quarter excitement. Alex McGough got to have his revenge game. Drew Lock continued to shine with some nice throws. Tre Brown looks to have solidified a starting spot and Jake Bobo should be expected to make the roster.

411: Preseason injuries a cause for concern as the Seahawks regular season draws near
With one week left to go in the preseason, our earlier hopes of maintaining health on the roster have not held up. Only a few rookies from the draft class have seen time in both preseason game, and the two first round picks are projected to miss time in the regular season. Injuries at wide receiver could make it easier for at least one of the preseason crushes to make the 53-man roster. Drew Lock has played well this preseason and even has some fans wondering if he could be better than Geno. But is there anything that Drew could do at this point to play his way into the starting lineup? Who else could play their way into a roster spot in the game coming up against the Packers? One UDFA wide receiver was highly touted coming out of high school and had a nice showing against the Cowboys. He could make the type of special teams impact that ends up making him worthy of a roster spot. Mookie Alexander of Field Gulls has published a potential 53-man roster going into the final game of the preseason. We run through and see where we agree and disagree with some of the final picks to make the team. In our Do Better segment we learn about an annoying black bear and a drone with questionable motives. Better at Life honors go out to a fishing charter and Richard Sherman for one of the best interviews of Pete Carroll that we've heard.

Winners and Losers: Seahawks vs Cowboys Postgame Reaction
It's a new winners and loser format for the postgame show this week! We talk about four of the game's top performers and four aspects of the game we'd like to see improvement on. Brandan is flying solo this week on this postgame recap as the Seahawks picked up the 22-14 victory over the Dallas Cowboys. Boye Mafe comes away as the biggest winner from this game while Mike Jackson was the guy who got beat more than any of us wanted to see. Finally, who were the starters from this game that we'll expect to see in Week 1 of the regular season. All that and more in this week's recap.

410: Projecting Jerry Jones Sadness in Preseason Week 2
Despite some early mistakes from the Seahawks, we saw some shining moments from Boye Mafe, Devin Bush, and some of the rookies on the defensive line. We also saw poise from Drew Lock as he was able to come back from a 0-10 deficit to take the lead before handing over the reigns to Holton Ahlers. With one preseason game down, we're ready to see some starters against the Cowboys in Week 2. Mike Jackson wants to matchup against Brandin Cooks and now he could have the opportunity. But we also want to see Riq and Spoon matching up against Gallup and CeeDee. With players nursing preseason injuries, we may not get what we want. The ultimate thing that could happen is some sadness from Jerry Jones over the outlook of the Cowboys season. Things got off to a good start for the NFC West as a whole. The Niners lost big, the Rams lost big and the Cardinals needed to rally in the fourth to beat the Broncos. A Pokemon pack opening former linebacker and a new face fad need to Do Better. The first game of the preseason gave us Seahawks fans an opportunity to check out some of the rookies and some of the depth pieces hoping to make the cut this year. Who made the cuts for the INs and OUTs from this game? One of the undrafted running backs caught Clinton's eye, along with a pair of defensive linemen. Could one of the Seahawks cornerbacks shine in the return game if he gets more opportunities? Ep 409409: Seattle Seahawks 2023 Season Expectations
This 2023 season is about to begin! So what do we expect from our Seattle Seahawks this season? First off, the Seahawks have a much different quarterback situation this year than they do last year. We talk about Geno Smith and how our expectations have shifted since this time last year. One of the reasons why we're optimistic about Geno is because of all of the players in the supporting cast. Seattle has a potential star at running back with Kenneth Walker to go with a pair of receivers who don't get nearly enough credit nationally. Reflecting back to last year's defensive performance, there is one area where we want to see a repeat and one thing that has to chance for the team to have success. If the Seahawks can keep their sack numbers around where they were last year, that would be a huge help. But if they can't rebound from being the third worst team against the run, then it's going to be another long year defensively. After the break, we talk about our expectations for where the team finishes this season. Who are their biggest challengers in the NFC? Will they look to face off against the 49ers in the playoffs once again? We hit a big milestone as we celebrate 10 years of podcasting together. We started the Sea Hawkers Podcast back in 2013. Sean Payton of the Broncos needs to do better and stop banning effective headwear from the Broncos facility. The Seahawks need to do better and go back to having an effective tailgating area so they can challenge the Packers for one of the best pregame cities. Better at life honors go out to Richard Sherman for taking his career full circle. He'll now be able to routinely remind Skip Bayless face-to-face just how much better at life he really is. Shocking Discovery from the Seahawks Mock Game
The Seahawks first team defeated the second team 20-17 in this year's annual mock game. It was our first time seeing the game in person and we've discovered some explosive details into the reason why these games appear to be so close year after year. We talk about some of the standout players from the game, including a wide receiver we may all fall in love with during preseason, and some observations from training camp last week. Ep 408408: San Francisco 49ers - Know Your Rival 2023
Seahawks fans owe a debt of gratitude to Pharoah Analytics this week, because they have projected the 2023 San Francisco 49ers win total at 6.5 wins this season. It gives us the perfect jumping off point to base our discussion around exactly what needs to happen for the Niners to finish in the cellar this season. Perhaps this team is getting closer to seeing their window closing. If a player on their own team is talking about it happening it must be true. We discuss the quarterback battle going on in Niners camp and how Adam is one of Brandon Allen's biggest fans. On the defensive side, San Francisco picked up a big name in the offseason. But did they improve the defense overall when you add up all of their losses? Seahawks training camp is underway and Devon Witherspoon is now in camp. But should we be concerned about his willingness to hold out and what it could mean for future contract negotiations with the Seahawks? Taylor Swift needs to do better for some of her latest antics impacting Seattle fans and Congress needs to do better when it comes to divulging information about aliens. Better at life honors go out to a reporter for some great quotes from an NFL coach and to Seahawks safety Quandre Diggs. Support the show Get in the Flock! Training Camp News: K9 and Zach injured. BBK is back!
Adam has some of the latest news and updates from Day 4 of Seahawks Training camp. The running back depth is already being tested with Ken Walker and Zach Charbonnet nursing injuries. With Ben Burr-Kirven back in the fold, it provides needed depth at the linebacker spot and a boost to special teams.
Devon Witherspoon Signs and Reports to Seahawks Training Camp
Big news for the Seahawks on Day 3 of training camp. Their top draft pick and fifth pick overall, CB Devon Witherspoon, signed his contract and reported to camp. We heard from Geno Smith, Tyler Lockett, Jarran Reed and Quandre Diggs over the past two days. Does the move to nose tackle make us feel better about the defensive line? We discuss that along with the depth at secondary with Witherspoon now in the fold. Support the show Get in the Flock! Ep 407407: Los Angeles Rams - Know Your Rival 2023
How do we characterize our sports hate for the Los Angeles Rams? Because it's a different type of hate compared to other rivals for the division. We discuss why the 2023 Rams are a benchmark team to decide how different analysts look at the game of football. With stars at a few skill positions, a beloved head coach in the media and 14 new draft picks added to the team, the Rams have something to love for a number of different media types. What has to come together for a successful Rams season? They need to stay healthy, they need to hit on a large number of draft picks and they need to get off to a good start despite a schedule that is heavily stacked against them. Signing some free agents would also help, but it's unlikely that we'll see that from the LA front office. We talk about the recent launch of the Seahawks throwback uniforms. There is one key thing the Seahawks need to do to make the season more enjoyable with the throwbacks. We talk about why a pair of former NFL players and a mayor from a town in France need to do better. Better at life honors go to an Australian sailor and to our Seahawks team. Ep 406406: Arizona Cardinals - Know Your Rival 2023
Our annual Know Your Rival season kicks off with the Arizona Cardinals. A team where one of their biggest stars wants off of the team, and their other star player is going to be out for most (and maybe all) of the 2023 season. What do the Seahawks have to worry about with Colt McCoy and company this season, apart from the fact the team always seems to play Seattle tough with their backup QB? One concern regarding the future of the organization is that the Arizona Cardinals moved on from their previous general manager and head coach. They appear to be drafting better and making good decisions, and they could eventually be a force in the division -- if the book that Jonathan Gannon has been reading provides any help. In the second half of the show, KJ Wright and Luke Willson got together on a recent podcast to share some new stories. It provides some insight about who to blame following the Super Bowl loss to the Patriots. We also heard from Luke about the same thought process and doubts that he had about Geno Smith and his front row seat to having those doubts erased. SI.com's Fan Nation site might be one of the worst sports sites online judging by a recent story and ESPN needs to do better after firing one of their best football analysts. One better at life honor goes out to a family member, and another to some former Seahawks for their business efforts in the community. Support the show Get in the Flock!
