What If?… Seahawks vs 49ers Preview (Dull Lance Edition)

The San Francisco 49ers have their first home game this weekend as the Seattle Seahawks come to town. After such a big win for Seattle this past week, should we expect that the players to come down from an emotional high? What will we be looking for if the pass defense plays well enough to stop the Niners and how can the defense contain the duel threat Deebo Samuel provides? We talk about some of the younger players we'd like to get sharper in this game and what the offense can do to take the home fans out of this game. We also introduce a brand new prediction element to the game as we close the show. 2022 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock! Ep 383383: A win Pete Carroll really, really wanted for the Seahawks

We got an honest moment from head coach Pete Carroll this week and he freely admitted how much this game meant to get the win to kick off the season. However, in an interview after the game he did leave us guessing as to some of the reasons why it meant so much more. Either way, the Seahawks got the win over the Denver Broncos as the former Seahawks quarterback and it could have been much worse for Denver if not for a few key mistakes during the game. On the horizon now is the matchup with the division rival San Francisco 49ers. The Niners are going to open up their season at home against Seattle coming off an unexpected loss to the Chicago Bears. The pressure is now on a young quarterback to bounce back from that loss to ensure the team doesn't fall two games back of the division lead right out of the gate. If we can believe coach Mike Martz's comments, maybe the Seattle defense doesn't have much to worry about with this week's quarterback, but the Seahawks offense will have to deal with going up against a much tougher defense. In the second half of the show, we get to continue to gloat about the Seahawks leading the NFC West as each of the teams within the division lost this past week. Plus, we congratulate Mafevourite Pancakes Are Abe's as this week's pick'em league winner. Do Better call outs go to Peter King and Brett Favre, while better at life honors go to Pete Carroll and Seahawks fans at the game. 2022 Podcast Pick'em League This episode was sponsored by Liquid Death. 3 IN, 3 OUT: Big 'ol Captain Thigh Arms Al Woods Does it Again

The Seattle Seahawks are leading the NFC West after a big win on Monday Night Football. Which players or coaches were responsible for showing up in some of the micro moments that helped lead to victory? There's at least one player who not a lot of Seahawks fans will be familiar with, but as we saw in another NFL game - it's a position that can have a big impact. Plus, Al Woods showed up in one of the biggest moments of the game, as the captain helped lead the team to victory. 2022 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock! Live and UnCatfished: Seahawks vs Broncos Postgame Reaction

The Seattle Seahawks faced off against Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos in Week 1 of the 2022 NFL season. With less than a minute on the clock, the Broncos ran down the clock to 20 seconds and elected to take a shot at a 64-yard field goal rather than go for it on 4th and 5. That's why the Broncos traded their future draft picks away? To make a decision like that? Regardless of the bad coaching decision at the end of the game, the Seahawks defense came up big inside the Red Zone. The defense turned over the Wilson-led offense and held them to just 16 points on the day. The 17 points from the offense in the first half was ultimately enough to pull off the victory for our Seahawks! 2022 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock! Tyler Lockett was asked to respond to the idea that the expectations for the Seahawks are low this season. Nick Bellore has ideas on how to wield his power as a team captain. Quandre Diggs talked about what he loves about the home crowd and what he hopes to hear on Monday. Geno Smith, DK Metcalf and Shane Waldron talked about going up against the Denver secondary. Rashaad Penny says he's feeling good going into this season. Noah Fant and Shelby Harris talk about going up against their former team. With Geno Smith starting for the Seahawks in Week 1, Adam, Wilson and Clinton dive into this week's prop bets to see where the disrespect shows up most. What If?… Seahawks vs Broncos Preview (Let's Ride Curse Edition)

What if Rashaad Penny is no longer cursed with the injury bug that we've seen in past seasons, who could that impact what we see from Seattle? What if the Let's Ride Curse comes into contact with the Broadcaster's Curse? Finally, what's a crazy moment we could see in the game that would prove to everyone that the curse is in full effect? Ep 382382: Russell Wilson returns to Seattle for Week 1 Seahawks kickoff

The 2022 NFL season kicks off with a bang as Russell Wilson returns to Seattle for his first game in a Broncos uniform. What do we need to see from our Seahawks to pull off a Week 1 upset over Denver? Pete Carroll knows what Russ wants to do, and Wilson knows how Pete wants to operate on defense. But will Wilson want to take what he knows Carroll will give him on defense, or will he stay true to how he's wanted to win over the past 10 years? For the Seahawks on defense, the biggest key may be stopping the Denver Broncos on the ground. With the tandem of backs the Broncos have in the backfield, it could make Wilson's day a whole lot easier if they're able to dominate the Seahawks defensive line. Although the Broncos are considered among the favorites in the AFC, we go through their roster and wonder if Russ really did upgrade his situation offensively by leaving. In the second half of the show, we take a look at the quarterback situation for the San Francisco 49ers as it got a lot more interesting this past week. Elsewhere in the division, Aaron Donald has found the NFL's blind spot for maximum violence against an opposing team with minimum punishment. Managers of the Colorado River and Russell Wilson both need to do better as the Let's Ride Curse continues to have visible impacts in the world. Better at life honors go out to a former Seahawks player on offense and a current Seahawks player on defense. 2022 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock! 3 IN, 3 OUT: Seahawks vs Cowboys Unique Preseason Review

Three preseason games and three preseason losses for our Seattle Seahawks. However, in true 3 IN, 3 OUT fashion, there are some positive takeaways when it comes to giving Geno Smith some opportunities for success heading into Week 1. Plus, we got some information on which cornerbacks we'd like to see starting for Seattle considering some of the injuries. Dee Eskridge made it on the field and showed that he can get some yards, but can also be compared to an infamous punt returner. Did former Seahawks CB Tre Flowers make an appearance? If it wasn't him, there's one Seattle DB who made a very clear impersonation. 2022 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock! Live & UnCatfished: Seahawks vs Cowboys Postgame Reaction

Geno Smith has been named the starter after a multiple turnover performance by Drew Lock against the Cowboys. What is the soonest we could see Lock now that Smith has won the job? Or was that the kind of performance that limits Drew to the backup spot until there is an injury? We get into some of the positive aspects of what we saw from the game against the Cowboys and some of the positive aspects of having Geno as QB1. However, that means Seattle will be limited in the number of mistakes it can make if they're going to be expected to be competitive and win games this season. 2022 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock! Ep 381381: Drew Lock is set to start for the Seahawks final preseason game

There are some positive takeaways coming out of the second preseason game against the Chicago Bears - as long as you really stretch what you consider as positives. The Seahawks first round pick Charles Cross had a chance to match up with one of the top pass rushers in the NFL and showed out well despite not knowing who Robert Quinn is. Geno Smith, if he gets the start, will have to starting receivers to throw to rather than they guys who aren't standing out as a clear third or fourth option. Seahawks fans will get to see Drew Lock coming up in this week's game against the Dallas Cowboys. Will he be able to do enough to earn a start against the Broncos or has Pete Carroll already made that decision? Based on what we've seen (or haven't) from players like Marquise Blair, Dwayne Eskridge, Marquise Goodwin, L.J. Collier or Ryan Neal - we see some cuts of some high draft picks or free agent acquisitions. In the second half of the show, there's one quarterback the Seahawks could consider if he's cut by his current team. There's another guy who won the starting job that Seattle should have tried harder to get. Then there's another quarterback who can just decide when he wants to be at practice and when he doesn't. People who put they're Venmo name out in public for random celebrations and an event charging way too much for an essential item both need to do better. Better at life honors go out to firefighters again along with a pair of little league baseball players. 2022 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock! Ep 380380: Seahawks trenches look good vs Steelers, Lock forced to sit out vs Bears

After losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday, the Seahawks were left with a short week to prepare for the Chicago Bears. Thursday's matchup was supposed to feature Drew Lock with the first-team offense, but shortly following that announcement was another announcement that the former Broncos QB would have to sit out. Will this change how the Seahawks approach who ultimately starts for the team in Week 1? We look back to the Steelers game at some of the positive and negative takeaways from the first outing of the season. The rookie cornerbacks could not stop a Steelers rookie receiver and one of the two found himself on his back on one play in the first quarter. Seattle's offensive and defensive lines showed promise throughout the game. Unfortunately, the defense was difficult to evaluate as a whole because of all the missed tackles. We discuss why that's the least concerning of the issues we saw on defense. With Thursday's matchup against the Chicago Bears, what are some of the key things to watch? Geno Smith will now get the start and we'll likely get to see Jacob Eason get some extended time on the field. Can the corners bounce back after that rough outing? There's one player in particular we hope to see with snaps against the Bears first-team offense after a nice debut. In the second half of the show, we discuss our anniversary of the show. We also talk about which NFC West team seems to be the most excited after the first week of preseason action. We call on the NFL Network and a local police department to do better. Live and UnCatfished: Seahawks vs Steelers - Preseason Week 1

The Seattle Seahawks fell to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday, 32-25, and fans got one full half of each quarterback. Geno Smith led a touchdown drive at the end of the first half, Drew Lock kept the team in the game and had an opportunity to lead the team to a win at the end. Adam and Clinton react to the quarterback battle as well as the pass rushers who stood out. Should we see a switch at starter for the next preseason game? The run game also stood out on the day and there was a negative aspect to the defense that really showed, but may not be unusual for the first outing of the season. PNW Prop Stars: Is Geno Smith a good bet as the Seahawks Week 1 starter?

It's the inaugural episode of PNW Prop Stars! While nobody likes to bet on their favorite team to lose, there are some bets that can make sense based on how well you know the team you watch the most. In this episode, Clinton, Adam and Wilson discuss whether it's worth taking a shot on Pete Carroll as a longshot coach of the year candidate. Should you hammer the over on Rashaad Penny's rushing yard considering his history with injuries? Once the regular season hits, there will be prop bets to discuss for the upcoming game. Against the Steelers though, the spread or the money line are about the extent of the options for Saturday. Wilson already is making a case for one scenario where you may want to bet against your own team. Is that okay as long as it's just the preseason? There may be some disagreement there, but everyone has a strong case for who to bet on as the Week 1 starter. Support the show Get in the Flock! 3 IN, 3 OUT: What if…tiny hands can give us a sign?

The 2022 preseason is underway for the Seahawks this Saturday as they take on the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road. Kenny Pickett, rookie quarterback for the Steelers, became infamous this offseason for his hand size and that leads into this week's theme. As we look toward the game, where are some of the signs that we can get from the Seahawks - both positive and negative. What do we need to see for a thumbs up? What would we see if we're giving a thumbs down. How about some excitement that would make us throw up some jazz hands? It's all in this week's 3 IN, 3 OUT What If...? preview show! Ahead of Saturday's mock game, we heard of Tyler Lockett taking advantage of a new offseason career in real estate and his thoughts on the new wide receiver coach. Rookie Boye Mafe talked about the feeling of getting back into pads ahead of the game. Pete Carroll offered up some insight on Mafe and some of the other newest Seahawks and his latest thoughts on the quarterback competition. In the mock game, Tariq Woolen gave up the only passing touchdown of the game. However, he was in position to make the play and it took some incredible concentration (and maybe some luck) by Cody Thompson to come up with the catch. Ep 379379: Seattle Seahawks 2022 Season Expectations

The 2022 season has arrived! However, with the departure of Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner in the offseason, the expectations for this team have decreased significantly. But will this team finish among the worst in the NFL even with the loss of talent? We'll talk about who has the lead for the starting QB job as training camp gets underway and how the coaching staff should approach the competition. No matter who starts behind center, can the passing game be effective enough to allow the running game to be productive? Considering the offseason changes made to the team, there are greater expectations for the defense to improve. But what position group does the success of the entire team rest upon? Is it the defensive line that lost three of their top pass rushers from last season? The linebacker group now that Bobby Wagner has left? Or is it the secondary with the strength at safety, but questions at corner? We also take a look at some of the latest news around the NFC West as Trey Lance was named starter for the Niners. The Rams have questions at quarterback with Matt Stafford suffering through elbow pain in the preseason. Arizona also has their share of drama at QB with the details of the Kyler Murray contract coming out this past week. Closing the show, the judge who came up with a six-game suspension for Deshaun Watson makes us question the decision based on the findings of the evidence she reviewed. The last couple weeks also showed how many teams could do something the Seahawks couldn't this offseason. Better at life honors go to a USA Today reporter for covering the latest Russell Wilson meme and to a pair of Seahawks who recently retired. 2022 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock! Ep 378378: Los Angeles Rams - Know Your Rival 2022

In the final week of our Know Your Rival series for 2022, we take our time trying to work up the interest in talking about this particular rival. The Los Angeles Rams caught so many big breaks throughout the post-season last year that it still is difficult to talk about this upcoming year without thinking back to the previous season. Plus, we have to consider that they should earn a similar curse for signing our future Hall of Fame linebacker. Not only did the Rams pay a former Seahawks star, they paid just about everyone who was primarily responsible for the big year last season. Matt Stafford, Aaron Donald and Cooper Kupp all got paid this offseason. We discuss which contract has the bigger chance to ultimately hurt the franchise. One could argue, though, that those contracts are already hurting the team and their chances at a possible repeat. Losing solid starters on the offensive line, defensive line, in the secondary and on special teams all have the ability to close whatever margin that allowed them to overcome close games in the playoffs last year. Maybe it even allows the Seahawks to finally turn the tables on the Sean McVay coached team. In the second half of the show, we talk how the Arizona Cardinals put off signing Kyler Murray for a week. It kept us from discussing how terrible of a move it really is on last week's rival episode. Seahawks fans in Germany aren't getting enough credit for causing the spike in demand that has prices skyrocketing for the game against Tampa Bay this season. But did any Sea Hawkers in the area get tickets? We get into other nonsense like bananas, robots and must see 80s movies for the family. The Madden franchise dominates our Do Better segment, and Better at Life honors go to new space technology and a Hall of Fame quarterback. Support the show Get in the Flock! Ep 377377: San Francisco 49ers - Know Your Rival 2022

The Seattle Seahawks dominance over the 49ers is not a recent phenomenon. Seattle has owned the Niners since coming into the division in 2002. Although, their stake in ownership really didn't begin until the 2003 season. Since that time, they've beaten the Niners twice in a season on 11 occasions (compared to the 3 years for their rival). One thing the Niners have going for them is a very talented front seven on defense. However, they have similar questions as the Seahawks with regard to offensive line and cornerback. Much like Seattle, the Niners have questions of their own at quarterback. One big one in particular: Why is Handsome Jimmy still on their roster? Is it because of reports of Trey Lance arm fatigue? Is it because the organization feels they're in a Super Bowl window and don't want to risk handing the keys to an unproven quarterback? When the Chiefs were ready to move on from Alex Smith, a trade was in place even before free agency started that offseason. Would Seattle be a possible destination to consider for Jimmy? Following the predictions for the Niners 2022 season, we take a look at one of the recent quotes by Russell Wilson. Will he be able to flip the switch this year? Especially since it's a switch that should really be on all the time. We get into a random discussion about the SAW score for a Montana bison. Then in Do Better we call out the Montana Department of Transportation as well as Mars, Inc. Better at Life honors go to Jake Plummer and DK Metcalf. Support the show Get in the Flock! Ep 376376: Arizona Cardinals - Know Your Rival 2022

The Arizona Cardinals offseason has been filled with drama. Kyler Murray made it clear that he wants a new contract, starting center Rodney Hudson is threatening retirement, and DeAndre Hopkins was suspended for violating the PED rules. Not to mention that tragedy even struck the organization this past May. All of this endangers a historic pattern that says the Cardinals will finish first in the division this season. We take a look at the strengths and weaknesses of the Cardinals roster, go through their 2022 schedule and make a prediction for their final record, and look at how much cap space they have to attempt to improve any areas of the roster where they could use help. Also, we discuss some quarterback news. Baker Mayfield has been traded to the Carolina Panthers ending the speculation that he could supplant Drew Lock or Geno Smith in Seattle. Before that move, Lock was trending on Twitter after a Seahawks fan took on the sport of Tennis. The Seahawks get called out in Do Better along with an article suggesting the redirection of a major U.S. river. Better at life honors go to a Washington Post reporter and to retired baseball player Bobby Bonilla. Support the show Get in the Flock! Ep 375375: Drew Lock's chance to be a HOF QB is at four percent

If the Seahawks don't make a move toward another starting quarterback before the start of the season, Drew Lock would be the quarterback who has the greater chance for potential upside. Geno Smith is a fine player, but Lock has the higher ceiling. Just how high is the ceiling though? We talk about one potential Hall of Fame quarterback whose early career compares similarly to Lock. This particular quarterback didn't have a ton of success with his first team, but went on to have an outstanding career. In Seahawks news, it was apparently Russell Wilson who pushed for Brian Schottenheimer to get fired. Brian Mone signed an extension with the Seahawks and we say goodbye to a Canadian lineman who was an undrafted free agent with the team. The Seattle Seahawks and some of their fans get called out in the Do Better segment. Better at Life honors go to the Cleveland Browns organization for taking the offseason spotlight away from the Seahawks QB situation and to Doug Farrar for making us feel just a little bit better about the Seattle QBs. Ep 374374: The Seahawks and the NFL's worst offseason (according to ESPN)

The Seahawks have been holding OTAs and mandatory minicamp over the past couple weeks and one notable player who is absent is wide receiver DK Metcalf. Is the team close to signing the former second round pick to a long-term deal? Would it be better to wait and pay DK to see if he has a subpar season? It may be that there is another good reason for the team to wait on before solidifying the deal (but not for too long). ESPN's Bill Barnwell recently released his rankings of best to worst teams considering how they've approached the offseason. The Broncos got the top spot by trading for Russell Wilson and that same move landed on the bottom. But when you look at another team Barwell had in the top 5, are the Seahawks really that far off from being in a similar position soon? In the second half of the show, we talk about a former Seahawks player who is retiring with a record that will stick in the record books. General Manager John Schneider was on a recently released podcast where he discussed a move that he'll never make again. How has that learning experience played out with some of the more recent moves? Finally, Colin Cowherd and a popular television show based in Montana both need to do better. Better at life honors go to a 4-year-old survivalist and a Seahawks equipment manager. Support the show Get in the Flock! Ep 373373: Seahawks in a coal mine (indicators for success/failure)

Organized team activities (OTAs) started for the Seahawks this past week. It's voluntary for the players to attend and participate, but there are some key takeaways that we pulled from the player interviews as well as the first injury announcement of a guy we hope to be a key player in the 2022 season. In the news, the Seahawks waived one rookie quarterback from the roster and there were several reports about the future of the franchise as the team will ultimately be sold "soon." With changes coming to the defensive side of the ball, Clint Hurtt was on Seattle radio to discuss some of the more notable changes from a strategic standpoint. How concerned are we about the state of the defense going into the season and its ability to impact the team's performance. We also get into the thought behind the various players who would be the "canary in a coal mine" when it comes to indicating the team's ultimate failure or success. We talk about players on each side of the ball that if they have a big season, it could mean good things for the overall success of the team. In the second half of the show, Baker Mayfield continues to be discussed as a potential option for the Seahawks. But based off an announcement from this past week, there's a new big name being thrown around as an option for Seattle. In a recent interview, Marshawn Lynch disclosed how much Hennessey he went through after Super Bowl 49. Russell Wilson gets called out for an analysis of his past season and people who are Facebook angry at a recent player workout get called out to 'Do Better.' Better at Life honors go to K.J. Wright and to an all-time great Celtics plumber and/or fire fighter. Support the show Get in the Flock!
