The Seahawks came back to take the lead after being down two scores going into the fourth quarter against the New Orleans Saints. Unfortunately, it was the defenses inability to stop Taysom Hill from doing anything that showed up once again in the fourth quarter and allowed the go ahead score. There were some moments in the game where questionable calls played a part, and we discuss those too, but this was a game that the defense should have the ability to put away. Of course, special teams didn't help out the team in this game either. So, should we as Seahawks fans be upset with how this season is playing out? Or should we be content? Seattle fans shouldn't be content with a loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Don't be fooled by the close score against the Philadelphia Eagles last week, because this Cardinals team is not good. They deserve to be at the bottom of the division and so the Seahawks could and should be the ones to put them there. Seattle may not even be the second worst team in the division this season after seeing what's going on down in Los Angeles. With that said, should playoffs be a consideration for Seattle this season? After several years of pulling the INs and OUTs from the micro moments in the game, we've come across one where most of the biggest moments were in the biggest plays. On the long run by Taysom Hill, we talk about the player who got pushed out of the play the most. Once again the Seahawks defense struggled to keep the opposition out of the end zone. Taysom Hill and Alvin Kamara teamed up to rush for more than 200 yards on the ground and put up 39 points. The defense managed two takeaways on the day, but struggled inside the red zone. The offense for the Seahawks put up more than 30 points again and Geno Smith nearly had 300 yards on the day if not for a costly penalty that took a deep touchdown to DK Metcalf off the board. Decisions by the officiating crew also played a part in two key moments. With the Seahawks 48-45 performance against the Detroit Lions, it helped earn several players league-wide recognition for their performance. Former Detroit Lions safety Glover Quin joined the show this week to preview the matchup between the Lions and Seahawks. Amon-Ra St. Brown and D'Andre Swift were questionable toward the middle of the week and are now out, which made it difficult to predict how this matchup could go. The Seattle Seahawks offense bounced back after six straight quarters of failing to score as we saw a unit that can at least put up points against sub-par defenses. Defensively for Seattle, it appears to be a different story. Are they a broken unit? Or can Pete Carroll and Clint Hurtt find a way to get the guys in position to at least stop the run? Seattle will give us a chance to help us answer those questions again this week as they go up against a very similar team to the Falcons. After flying high from a Week 1 victory over the Denver Broncos, the Seahawks returned to earth following their matchup in Santa Clara. Geno Smith was efficient in the passing game, but Seattle was never able to run the ball effectively and got run over early by the 49ers offense. Was this game closer than the score indicated though? In a 27-7 loss where the offense failed to score, one would think there is little to point to in terms of the positives. With the loss to the San Francisco 49ers, the Seahawks NFC West rival was finally able to get their win percentage up over .300 against Pete Carroll. Seattle's inability to get the run game going with either Rashaad Penny or Ken Walker was a major part of Seattle failing to score on offense. Of course the ridiculously terrible throw by Deejay Dallas at the goal line didn't help things much either. We got an honest moment from head coach Pete Carroll this week and he freely admitted how much this game meant to get the win to kick off the season. However, in an interview after the game he did leave us guessing as to some of the reasons why it meant so much more. Either way, the Seahawks got the win over the Denver Broncos as the former Seahawks quarterback and it could have been much worse for Denver if not for a few key mistakes during the game. On the horizon now is the matchup with the division rival San Francisco 49ers. The Niners are going to open up their season at home against Seattle coming off an unexpected loss to the Chicago Bears. The pressure is now on a young quarterback to bounce back from that loss to ensure the team doesn't fall two games back of the division lead right out of the gate. If we can believe coach Mike Martz's comments, maybe the Seattle defense doesn't have much to worry about with this week's quarterback, but the Seahawks offense will have to deal with going up against a much tougher defense. The 2022 NFL season kicks off with a bang as Russell Wilson returns to Seattle for his first game in a Broncos uniform. There are some positive takeaways coming out of the second preseason game against the Chicago Bears - as long as you really stretch what you consider as positives. The Seahawks first round pick Charles Cross had a chance to match up with one of the top pass rushers in the NFL and showed out well despite not knowing who Robert Quinn is. Geno Smith, if he gets the start, will have to starting receivers to throw to rather than they guys who aren't standing out as a clear third or fourth option. Seahawks fans will get to see Drew Lock coming up in this week's game against the Dallas Cowboys. Will he be able to do enough to earn a start against the Broncos or has Pete Carroll already made that decision?
