The demand for homekill meat in New Zealand is rising as the cost of living crisis continues. The price of beef steak has risen 25% in a year, and even cheaper cuts of meat are seeing a big jumps in price. Homeskill specialist Aaron Pohatu told Matt and Tyler than having homekill meat butchered is cheaper than buying it off the shelf in a supermarket – and he says it tastes far better. The Cancer Society is the biggest private funder of cancer research in New Zealand.  So far on Daffodil Day, more than $60,000 has been raised to help combat cancer.  CEO of Auckland-Northland Cancer Society division Andrew Young says he lost his mother to cancer in 2007, which motivated him to join the Cancer Society and lead its Auckland-Northland division.   Text 3493 to make an instant $3 donation to the Cancer Society. Napier residents who cut down their wheelie bin use by composting and recycling could see their rates bill cut down too. The Less Waste Incentive is open to all Napier property owners who receive the council wheelie bin service. The government has purchased 5 new Seahawk helicopters and 2 Airbus A321 XLRs, costing a total of $2.7billion.  These will replace the Defence Force's ageing Sea-sprites and Boeing 757s, that have broken down numerous times.  Deputy Prime Minister David Seymour says that it’s a much-needed upgrade to NZ’s Defence Force.  ‘The 757s were bought secondhand, in 1993 when I personally was at primary school.’  LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Reserve Bank today moved to cut the OCR by 25 basis points to 3 percent, sparking debate among experts. While economists priced in a cut, some anticipated a 50 basis point cut - and the monetary policy committee was reportedly divided on the matter. Richmond-based café Coffee on Queen is pushing back against a ban on advertising flags, and one expert says it's a sign of a bigger problem. Speaker Gerry Brownlee says he won't accept accusations MPs are spineless, with Chlöe Swarbrick kicked out of Parliament for a second day. An article in the NZ Herald recently explored the realities of a private investigator who specialises in missing people, debt recovery and cheating spouses - and it's sparked discussion about the nature of the role. New Zealand's biggest energy players - Genesis, Meridian, Mercury and Contact - have formed a deal to stockpile coal at Huntly Power Station, and questions have been raised.
