 Colombian President Gustavo Petro made headlines all over the world after claiming cocaine was 'no worse than whisky' during a live broadcast of a government meeting. During a six-hour ministerial meeting – broadcast live for the first time ever – the President also suggested  the global cocaine industry could be 'easily dismantled' if the drug were legalised worldwide. UFC star Israel Adesanya has thrown his support behind a new bill criminalising 'coward punches'. The bill would amend the Crimes Act to criminalise strikes to the head or neck in situations where the victim is not able to defend themselves. It would also amend the definition of murder in the Act if someone were to die from a coward punch. National MP Paulo Garcia first introduced the bill, and he says clear legal consequences will be a good deterrent to stopping these attacks. The grim outlook for the economy in the coming years doesn't come as a surprise to experts. Treasury's opened its books for the Half Year Economic and Fiscal Update - showing the expected surplus has been pushed out from 2027 to beyond 2030. Infometrics Principal Economist Brad Olsen says economic recovery will likely be a slow-burn process - slower than the 'survive til '25' timeline.
