She is currently planning her wedding for 2024. She and her fiance lost the engagement ring at the beach during the engagement shoot. Their viral video has over 39.5 million views on TikTok! [00:01:23] Before meeting her partner, Kirsten was single for four years. She says she put a lot of pressure on first connections. She was avoiding being vulnerable. [00:10:13] Kirsten: "In anything in life, it's effort. Why do you think dating shouldn't be effort? Anything that is worthwhile takes time to build. You must build a foundation." [00:11:31] Kirsten: The old way of dating is having high expectations and going into the date with the checklist...Dr. Morgan points out this is a way to avoid being vulnerable and to avoid connection. [00:19:47] Dr. Morgan: "The most attractive version of ourselves is when we are authentically ourselves." [00:24:04] Do you feel like this was the most vulnerable, real open and honest that you've been? Kirsten: Yes. I literally met him two months after the meeting with you. I'm so glad that we've connected again. [00:25:11] "We can allow ourselves to be gushy and romantic, " Dr. Morgan says. "If we don't feel emotionally safe, we can't even access that part of ourselves " When did you know you could see yourself spending the rest of your life with this person? [00:27:08] A video of a proposal that went viral on TikTok wasn't the actual proposal. Instead, it was just the engagement shoot for save the date photos. The photographer eventually found the ring. The couple spent two and a half hours looking for it. [00:33:45] And he's just like, you know, he didn't blame me. He was like, okay, well, it's just another Tuesday with you. Let's find it and move on. And I feel like a lot of guys would be like, why did you jump in it? [00:34:07] Dr. Morgan: Having that partner that can kind of be that securely attached base really helps move us more towards a securely attached place. Sometimes it's nice to have a partner to reach out to, and they can help you in ways that they can give you grace. Both of those things are beautiful parts of being with the right partner.

PART TWO! Kelly Chase and I had such a powerful first interview, we needed to continue the conversation. We dove deep into topics such as securely attached sex, and situationships. Here is a total breakdown of what was covered: Avoidant Attachment and Its Difficulties [5:23] “People with avoidant attachment struggle with reassurance. There is a lot of uncertainty. Everything in the relationship is confusing, but the sex is good. ” The Shame in Needing Sex [13:42] “Women feel guilty about needing it, but hey maybe the way your relationship has functioned only allows you to feel connected and safe when you have sex. Sex is one of the many ways you can connect with your partner.” Securely Attached Sex [15:02] “What a lot of people need to realize is that when your energy is not going to the drama or the unpredictability, it can go into the deepening of building a life and having wonderful experiences with someone. Safe and secure is sexy.” Having the Courage to Say Something [20:54] “In order to have the relationship that you want and make it sustainable of course, you have to tune in to yourself, speak up and voice what’s going on. We can be assertive and redirect.” Fear of Starting the Life Over [26:19] “Do you want to spend a life of suffering for the rest of your life or do you want to go through the temporary pain of leaving the relationship? Go through the temporary pain, avoid the lifetime of suffering.” Couple’s Therapy and Uncoupling [28:52] “Successful couple’s therapy is not the couples staying together, it’s doing what’s best for the couples and individuals and sometimes that is uncoupling. Sometimes, that is the very best thing.” “Uncoupling is intentionally dissolving a romantic relationship, and creating a new type of relationship in that process.” Failures in Dating [37:56] “There’s no failure in dating, there’s only learning.” Forgetting and Forgiveness [42:06] “Your pain is valid. Your experience is valid. Forgiveness is just deciding you’re not going to carry around the anger.” Being Honest with Yourself [49:00] “You get to be honest with yourself about the kind of relationship that you want, and how you want to feel.” Make sure you connect with Kelly on IG @chaselifewithkelly You can also check out her podcast: Chase Life with Kelly - available everywhere podcasts are aired.
