If you want to learn more visit: theitalianwinegirl.com/ About today’s guest producers: 2010. Recruited by a hotelier who had just acquired an estate in the gorgeous Euganean Hills in Italy’s Veneto region, Elisa was asked to help restore the estate’s vineyards, which had been abandoned for decades. She was inspired to express all of those elements in her wines. She discovered that Fior d’Arancio, a unique variety of Yellow Muscat (Moscato Giallo) found in the area, grows particularly well in the volcanic terroir of the Euganean Hills. One of Elisa’s main goals has been to promote the versatility of the sweet sparkling wine, which is traditionally served as a dessert wine. She proposes it as an aperitif as well, given its marked minerality. To achieve her goal, Elisa has involved owners of restaurants and wine bars, sommeliers and opinion leaders in the world of food and wine in her project, as well as anyone with the talent and imagination to make a contribution toward demonstrating the versatility of the Moscato Fior d’Arancio grape and driving her innovative project forward. Two people who were key to the success of Maeli are Gianluca and Desiderio Bisol, respectively the CEO and winemaker of the eponymous Prosecco winery in Valdobbiadene, who believed and invested in the project from the beginning. In addition to the award-winning Maeli Moscato Fior d’Arancio DOCG, Elisa also produces a still white wine, Bianco Infinito, made from her favored Moscato Giallo. The wine stands out for the aromatics and structure that are the result of the grapes from which it is made. Rosso Infinito, a red blend, and Dila, a traditional method sparkling wine, complete the Maeli portfolio. S5 Ep 748Ep. 748 Giuditta Politi | Wine, Food & Travel With Marc Millon
Episode 748 Marc Millon interviews Giuditta Politi of Cantine Politi, in this episode of Italian Food & Wine with Marc Millon on the Italian Wine Podcast. About today’s winery: 1200 A.D.: the Politis appear for the first time among the majors of Loretello castle. It’s nothing more than a reference repeated over time and more and more associated with wine throughout the centuries. By the end of the eighteenth century, about 60 hectolitres of wine were preserved in Politi cellars. It was an important production for that time, although there is no evidence about the kind of wine. However, the archives testify to a constant presence of the family on the territory and their vocation to the art of wine. More than eight centuries have gone by, since that first mention, Loretello and its fields have witnessed different dominions and squires, wars and conflicts. Welcome to episode 746, another on the Road Edition With Stevie Kim, today she is talking with Luciano Pignataro & Salvatore Salvo, owner of Salvo Pizzeria, in Naples, Italy. Join Stevie as she desperately seeks the best Pizza around! This episode is in Italian but if you need an English version, you can always visit www.italianwinepodcast.com/blog and read the script in English! About today’s Pizzeria: Tradition is the basis of the work of Francesco and Salvatore Salvo, from here we start and we always look at this, incessantly, but here we do not stop. For the Salvos, Neapolitan pizza is a culture to be safeguarded and developed and evolved, using all the tools, techniques and knowledge that the world of contemporary gastronomy can offer. Consequently, the Neapolitan pizza Salvo is necessarily modern, adapted to the advancement of new discoveries in the kitchen, declined according to seasonality and raw materials, enhanced by combinations of refined and carefully studied ingredients, it is Neapolitan pizza today. Salvatore Salvo and his brother Francesco have been passionately dedicating themselves to their work for years to carry on a tradition that has been handed down for three generations and to do so they started from the basics, studying and working on doughs and cooking, developing gastronomic and entrepreneurial ideas, looking ahead and looking around, not only in the world of pizza, but also in that of food and wine in general, arriving today to become the authoritative and modern voice of contemporary Neapolitan pizza, of the pizza of the future. About today’s winery: Lungarotti Winery is a symbol of wine excellence in Umbria. Lungarotti has had a front-line role in writing the last century’s history of wine in Italy. A success story initiated by Giorgio Lungarotti, a pioneer of Italy’s modern enology and founder of the winery in Torgiano, a small town in the countryside close to Perugia and Assisi in Umbria, the green heart of Italy. A story that continues today thanks to the commitment, passion and expertise of his daughters Chiara and Teresa, his wife Maria Grazia and his grandchildren Francesco and Gemma. Teresa Severini, born of the first marriage of Maria Grazia, has a degree in Agriculture with a Specialization at the Institute of Enology of Bordeaux University and was one of Italy’s first female enologists. As the company’s Director of Marketing and Communication for many years, she has had an unwavering dedication to the identification between product, company and territory, scrupulously analyzing consumer evolution and intercepting tastes and preferences of new potential clients. These days she is ever more active in the initiatives of the Lungarotti Foundation, fuelled by the certainty that the bond between wine and culture is crucially important. Her motto has been and continues to be: “winning the attention of young people to make them informed winelovers of the future”.
