Since I work in my family-owned winery, of course I don’t operate just in the cellar and in the vineyards, but I manage the winery tours and tasting, and I take care of our foreign customers. I think it is the heterogeneity of this world that makes me love the wine industry. S6 Ep 1310Ep. 1310 Native Digital Content | wine2wine Business Forum 2021
Welcome to Episode 1310; Why you should be investing in native digital content Welcome to Wine2Wine Business Forum 2021 Series. The sessions are recorded and uploaded on Italian Wine Podcast. wine2wine is an international wine business forum, held annually in Verona Italy since 2014. The event is a key reference point for wine producers and a diverse variety of wine professionals eager to develop and grow their wine business worldwide. About this Session: While different marketing campaigns have different goals, most share one thing in common, no matter the medium. The campaign runs, people did or didn’t see it, and that’s a wrap. Native advertising in the form of content marketing is different. Although a campaign may have a defined ‘window,’ most publishers who offer this type of marketing campaign allow the content to live on their website or podcast feed indefinitely. This allows well crafted campaigns to continue to reach new audiences for months, even years. We’ll explore this phenomenon through two mini case studies: Fontanafredda’s Barolo-centric campaign with VinePair in 2016 that still draws in thousands of new viewers every month, and E&J Gallo’s sponsorship of VinePair’s Wine 101 podcast. About the Speaker Adam Teeter Adam Teeter is the cofounder and CEO of VinePair, the most read publication about wine, beer and spirits in America. Since founding the publication in 2014 Adam has become recognized as an authority on how to make the drinks world accessible to everyone, and speaks regularly about the ever evolving media landscape. Prior to founding VinePair he was the head of growth and marketing for the news and politics publication Tablet Magazine. He is an adjunct professor at the Columbia School of Journalism, teaching courses on digital media, and the winner of the Left Bank Bordeaux Cup American Wine-Tasting Championship. He holds an MBA from NYU Stern with a specialty in Marketing and Entrepreneurship and a BA in Journalism from Emory University. To find out more: Facebook: www.facebook.com/adamteeter Instagram: @adamteeter Twitter: @AdamTeeter LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/adamteeter/ About the Moderator: Josh Malin is the President and Co-Founder of VinePair. Josh loves putting things together — websites, words, legos, and cases of wine. Prior to VinePair, Josh spent a few years helping to build Ez Texting, an NYC startup, into the leading provider of text messaging services to small businesses. Ez Texting was acquired in late 2012, by CallFire. Josh also co-founded MobileSmarts, one of the earliest (as in monophonic ringtones) and largest distributors of ringtones in North America. Welcome to episode 1303, another episode of “On The Road Edition”, hosted by Stevie Kim. In this episode Stevie is in Castello della Sala (Part of the Antinori Group) in Umbria continuing her conversation with Massimiliano Pasquini, general manager. Today’s episode is part 2 of 2. More about today’s winery Castello della Sala is located in Umbria, a short distance from the border with Tuscany, about 18 kilometers from the historic city of Orvieto. The lands of the Castle, an imposing medieval manor house, extend for 600 hectares, of which 200 hectares are planted with vines, halfway between the Paglia river and the summit of Monte Nibbio. The Castello della Sala was built in 1350 for Angelo Monaldeschi della Vipera, whose family had arrived in Italy following Charlemagne in the 9th century. From 1300 the members of the family opposed each other for the control of Orvieto, achieved in 1437 by Gentile, nephew of Angelo dei Monaldeschi della Vipera and dictator of the city for about a decade. After Gentile's death in 1466, a serene season was inaugurated at the castle crowned by the peacemaking marriage between Pietro Antonio della Vipera, Gentile's son, and his cousin Giovanna Monaldeschi della Cervara. The 200 hectares of vineyards, cultivated with traditional varieties such as Procanico and Grechetto, but also with Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Sèmillon, Pinot Blanc, Viognier and a small amount of Traminer and Riesling, are located at an altitude of 220 - 470 meters sea level. That of Castello della Sala is an area highly suited to the production of whites with one exception: Pinot Noir, finds in this terroir the ideal conditions to express itself at its best. The area is characterized by a clayey, calcareous soil, rich in fossil shells, with vineyards well exposed to the sunrise and with excellent temperature ranges. S6 Ep 1299Ep. 1299 Daniela Mastroberardino | Voices With Cynthia Chaplin
Welcome to Episode 1299, in which Cynthia Chaplin interviews Daniela Mastroberardino in this installment of Voices, on the Italian Wine Podcast. About today’s guest: The Terredora di Paolo estate is located on the hills of Irpinia surrounding the valleys of the Sabato and Calore rivers. With about 180 hectares of vineyards, it is now among the most prestigious producers in Southern Italy. Although not so far from the Gulf of Naples, Pompeii, Amalfi and Sorrento, Irpinia is the inland area of Campania: hilly, mountainous and characterized by a continental climate. It enjoys a perfect soil and climatic environment for making high quality wines, a tradition started by the Greeks and Romans more than 3000 years ago. In fact, Irpinia is a quiet, harsh area nestled in the Apennines in the heart of Campania. Its landscape is a rolling succession of mountains, hills and upland plains divided by rivers and covered with lush vegetation. The identity of Terredora di Paolo wines is that of being “a precious fruit of nature worked by skillful hands”. Terredora di Paolo’s vineyards exploit volcanic soils rich in limestone and clay and enjoy south-facing exposure with an excellent microclimate on breezy hills (400-650 meters above sea level). With approximately 3,500 vines per hectare grown with the traditional Guyot training system, annual production is around 60 hectoliters/hectare. The grapes are harvested by hand and placed in small baskets with a minimal time span between destemming the grapes before sending them to the wine press. The native white grapes grown are Greco, Fiano, Falanghina, while the red grapes are Aglianico and Piedirosso. Find out more about today’s winery: www.terredora.com/en/estate/ About today’s Host: Cynthia Chaplin is a VIA certified Italian Wine Ambassador, a professional sommelier with FIS and the WSA, a member of Le Donne del Vino, and a Professor of Italian wine and culture. In this episode Stevie is in Castello della Sala (Part of the Antinori Group) in Umbria speaking with Massimiliano Pasquini, general manager. Today’s episode is part 1 of 2. S6 Ep 1289Ep. 1289 Silvia Fonzone | Wine, Food & Travel With Marc Millon
Welcome to Episode 1289 in which Marc Millon interviews Silvia Fonzone of the Fonzone Winery in Irpinia. More about the Fonzone Winery: The Fonzone Caccese estate is located in Paternopoli, one of the seventeen municipalities of the Taurasi DOCG area, in the province of Avellino. The company boasts over twelve hectares of Aglianico, out of which the following wines are produced: Mattoda’ Irpinia DOC Campi Taurasini and Scorzagalline Taurasi DOCG Riserva made with the grapes coming from the highest portion of the vineyard. Furthermore, the vineyards of Falanghina, destined for the production of the Irpinia Falanghina DOC Le Mattine, complete the vineyard area of the estate. The hill where the company estate extends, just outside the town, is located in the “Campi Taurasini” sub-area, and is surrounded by the municipalities of Villamaina, Castelfranci and Gesualdo, whose castle was inhabited by a branch of the Caccese family, from 1856 to 1980. The vineyards extend on both sides of the hill, benefiting from multiple exposures and an altitude ranging from 360 m to 430 m / above sea level. The hill includes both clayey – calcareous soils and looser textured soils, of clear sedimentary origin, and is surrounded by the Fredane and Ifalco streams, which clearly influence the microclimate of the entire area. Furthermore, given the proximity to Vesuvius as the crow flies, the first two layers of the soil have volcanic dust, deposit of the eruptions that took place over the centuries. In Noto, in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, on the rocks and beaches of the southernmost strip of land, mound after mound, Antonio Moretti Cuseri manages to put together a property of about 250 hectares acquiring them from more than fifty different landowners. The heart is Maccari, where the vineyards that overlook the Vendicari Natural Oasis There are about 60 hectares under vine exclusively relying on the head-trained system, an ancient process brought over by the first Greek colonists; it is very costly to manage but is well suited to the warm climate of southeastern Sicily. The bunches of grapes are protected by the leaves, which limit the oxidation of polyphenolic and aromatic substances. At the same time, the leaves are exposed to the sun's rays, allowing for excellent photosynthesis.
