Dr. Richard Johnson is back for more! Today we talk about unexplained weight gain, the fat switch, uric acid, the truth on agave and so much more. Some of you have already read his first book, "The Fat Switch", which he published in 2012 and now our honored guest Dr. Richard Johnson has another book out called "Nature Wants Us to Be Fat: The Surprising Science Behind Why We Gain Weight and How We Can Prevent--and Reverse--It" which was released last February 2022. I was blown away with his first book and I am really excited to talk with him about his new book, because he has some exciting new information from his research to share with us. Dr. Richard Johnson works at the University of Colorado in Denver as a Professor of Medicine. He's been keeping super busy these last 25 years not only as a professor, but also both a practicing physician AND clinical scientist. He studies…nothing else, but our favorite drug…sugar. He is super well known in the medical circles for his research into obesity and diabetes. He found out exactly HOW sugar causes obesity and how our bodies can actually make fructose from other foods. He also found out that a by-product of fructose metabolism called uric acid plays a huge role in metabolic syndrome. The National Institute of Health has been funding his research since the 80s, so he's been doing this for…quite.. a while. He's a member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation and has published over, get this, 700 papers, lectured in over 45 countries, and is a highly cited scientist. Just Pubmed him. You'll be blown away. So I think we are speaking with someone who is highly highly qualified to talk about this topic. Ep 7676. Fasting, Sleep & Diabetes in Older Women - Dr. Satchin Panda

It is a true pleasure and honor to host Dr. Satchidananda Panda aka "Satchin Panda" today to talk about circadian rhythms and fasting and how this affects women living with diabetes. He discovered that eating within an 8-12 hour window, called Time-restricted eating or intermittent fasting, can prevent or reverse chronic diseases and increase healthy lifespan. 3. He is also known for circadian genomics studies in primates, which have identified the dosing of the majority of FDA-approved drugs that can be optimized to the right time of the day to reduce the negative effects of the drugs and improve their efficacy. 4. His lab, along with several others, has demonstrated that drugs targeting circadian clock components are a multi-solving approach to treat chronic diseases, including liver disease, cancer, and the dreaded Alzheimer's disease. This is part one of a 3 hour podcast with Dr. Bill Lawrence who talks about his clinic trials on bioregulator peptides. If you don't know what a bioregulator is, you will once we get done and you will thank Dr. Lawrence for exposing this incredible molecule to you. Dr. Lawrence used to be a lawyer. He has a Law Degree from UCLA (my alma mater!). He is also a successful businessman who decided to turn his life, and perhaps fate, around with an interest in living longer and better…So, he ditched the business world and delved head first into science and the world of nutrition coming out with a Ph.D. in Nutrition. Since 1990 his focus has been on slowing and reversing human biological aging. Along the way, he has developed a lot of science-based optimal aging practices for health professionals and individual clients. Optimal aging is very different than "normal healthy aging" and we will explain what this means in the interview. Currently, Dr. Lawrence is the administrator of two clinical studies in collaboration with Dr Vladimir Khavinson of the Saint-Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology to see if human biological age can indeed be reversed. My guest today is someone I had the pleasure to meet over 25 years ago and someone I have been blessed with to have as part of my life ever since. I have been watching him evolve and create unbelievable things that actually matter to the planet since I was in my 20s. For 18 years, David was the Professor of the Practice of Bioengineering at Harvard University in the School of Engineering & Applied Sciences and later transitioned to Associate to lead the startup of FEND and support the startup of the nonprofit Next Breath. in 2004, he was studying how to protect people from one of the most horrible, airborne biological weapons of our time: anthrax. He is now one of the world's leading respiratory health scientists and today is on a mission to help all of us breathe and move about safely during this pandemic with what TIME magazine has called "The best invention of 2020", FEND, and we talk about this really cool gadget today. David's been recognized by many international organizations and has received an incredible number of honors and awards. Dr. Stacy Sims is a true pioneer in the field of exercise physiology and nutrition, because she has been unraveling some horrific truths about science and research and how it relates to women. Manage Menopause, HRT & Understand Hormones At 50+ - Dr. Elizabeth Yurth

Today's guest is back for a second time on the show and she is one of my favorite guests. She is a regenerative and anti-aging doctor who has a whole list of qualifications and she's one of the most well-trained doctors on hormones. She's incredibly intelligent and in this episode helps us understand our own hormones and clear the confusion on hormone replacement therapy. I'm talking about the one and only Dr. Elizabeth Yurth who has helped hundreds of women just like us solve joint pain, menopause symptoms like bloating, moodiness and fatigue and just get back to our old balanced and energetic selves. Dr. Yurth is trained in Sports & Spine Orthopedics, Functional & Regenerative Medicine, and even Cellular Medicine. After a long career in orthopedics, Dr. Yurth decided it was time to move her practice forward to the next level and in 2006 co-founded The Boulder Longevity Institute. There they specialize in advanced, research-based longevity medicine that has treatments like Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (yes, please), Regenerative Orthopedic Procedures (yes, please), Regenerative Peptide Therapy (oh yes, please), and Next Generation Regenerative services. It sounds like a sci-fi movie. What makes Dr. Yurth someone we should be listening to? She is double board-certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation AND Anti-Aging/Regenerative Medicine. And although she doesn't look like it, she has a long history as a specialist in Sports, Spine, and Regenerative Medicine that includes a Stanford-affiliated Fellowship in Sports and Spine Medicine, and a dual-Fellowship in Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine (FAARM) AND Anti-Aging, Regenerative and Functional Medicine (FAARFM) through the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M). Dr. Yurth has been selected as one of the 25 mastermind physician fellows in SSRP (Seeds Scientific Research and Performance). This means it allows her to stay abreast and teach others in this growing field of cellular medicine. The cool thing for athletic older people, like me, is that she's also an active athlete herself. Melanie is a registered dietitian and completed her masters of Nutrition, Healthspan and Longevity at USC. (very cool masters!) I found Melanie through the Fasting Mimicking Diet newsletter. I saw she studied (as have I) at the prestigious research based University of Southern California with Dr. Valter Longo who created the Fasting Mimicking Diet and one of TIME's 50 most influential people in healthcare. She popped up in a university newsletter, I investigated further, I loved her website and the holistic approach she takes to nutrition. She specializes in gut health and is based in Los Angeles.
