David Lai

David Lai is man who possesses talent within the realms of mystery, deception, intrigue and wonderment. To most people, he is a mentalist magician. Mentalist magic is a division of magic which concentrates on the human mind. Metal bending, reading people’s thoughts, linguistic deception and muscle reading are the name of the game and David excels in them.   What started off as a hobby by testing magic with friends and gaining confidence from it, David later went on to perform for strangers on the streets of KL, restaurants, pubs and private events. Funny enough, he studied engineering until he decided to make the jump towards magic. He felt it challenging and hard doing seven shows a week and performing 5-6 hours a day, if needed. However, he kept on producing magic on stage until one day he came back to Malaysia with Superstars Of Magic, which is the most successful magic show at Resort World Genting.   Also, David has been awarded the Merlin Award for Best Magic Producer in 2012. He plans to continue with Superstars Of Magic season 4 whilst coming up with a whole new magic circus show which will definitely be a spectacle not to be missed.   If you liked what you’ve heard, then check us out on our website here! Turkey Day

In 1621, the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast that is acknowledged today as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies. For more than two centuries, days of thanksgiving were celebrated by individual colonies and states. It wasn’t until 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, that President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day to be held each November. Our friends at the Embassy of the United States invited us over to celebrate this national day of feasting with them. And so we spoke to a bunch of Americans about the importance of this holiday and about what it's like celebrating so far from home. We also caught up with Joani Dong, Agriculture Attache to the embassy and spoke with her about halal turkeys in Malaysia.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Bob Baer Hunts Hitler

Robert Baer was a CIA case officer in the Directorate of Operations from 1976 to 1997, where he served in Middle Eastern countries, including Iraq and Lebanon. He's been involved in assassination attempts and government coups - and that's just the stuff he's told us. These days, Bob Baer leads a far less endangered existence. He writes books, works for CNN, and produces television for the likes of History. Today, on The Evening Edition, Ezra and Uma speak to Bob Baer about his latest project, the quest to solve the longest cold case in history, an attempt at uncovering the truth behind whether or not Adolf Hitler killed himself in that bunker in 1945. They talk Hunting Hitler, but not before digressing into a conversation about the 1988 downing of Pan Am Flight 103, the siege of Abbottabad for Osama bin Laden, and Ahmed Chalabi - the man who lead America to war.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Episode #18: Law & Order & Superheroes (When We Last Left Our Heroes)

Reading the superhero comic requires setting aside - among many other things - notions of legal niceties. What exactly would the legal system really do with supervillains? Should a villain stay in jail for murder if the victim later comes back to life, as Ben Grimm - The Thing - did a few years back? Can the death penalty be applied to someone who’s invulnerable? Are the X-Men - who are frequently discriminated against in the Marvel Universe - due civil rights protections? This month, on When We Last Left Our Heroes, Umapagan Ampikaipakan speaks to lawyer and author James Daily about the hypothetical legal ramifications of comic book tropes, characters, and powers.
