The Duke Blue Devils took care of business against the Louisville Cardinals, and we recap the game on Episode 601! Duke made easy work of the Cards, winning by 25 in a game that really was over early in the 2nd half. Jason and Donald hit the headlines and discuss the good in this game. In a game that was sloppy at times, the defense was still very good on the evening. They rebounded amazingly well and won almost every positive statistical category. We then get into the individual players, and there was a lot of love shown for guys like Jeremy Roach, Tyrese Proctor, Sean Stewart, and even Spencer Hubbard. With the outrage over the court storming incident fading a little bit, the Duke Basketball Roundup takes a few moments to look back on the actual game, which was a heck of a battle between the Blue Devils and Wake Forest. Both teams were playing at a high level and no one deserved to lose. Jason and Donald break down all the action on both ends of the floor with special praise for Duke big men Kyle Filipowski and Ryan Young, who were each outstanding in this contest. We’re going to talk about it on DBR Bites #37. The Duke Blue Devils lost to Wake Forest 83-79, but the biggest story is what occurred as the game ended. Wake’s fans stormed the court, hurting Kyle Filipowski in the process. Filipowski got hurt bad enough that he needed to be helped off the court by several members of the Duke team, including Jon Scheyer. We’ve learned he hurt his knee and Jason and Donald are absolutely furious and wanted to spend some time on it. Jason has some serious rules changes that he wants the ACC to implement, while Donald is angry at the fact that Wake let the situation get bad by not preparing for it. Duke road losses almost always result in fans storming the court, and there were no plans in place nor did security do its job of protecting the players and staff of the teams on the court. A full Wake recap will be coming Sunday on Episode 599, but this had to be addressed immediately. There will surely be more thoughts later about how this transpired and what measures need to be taken to ensure that teams remain safe when they’re playing a basketball game. Duke's 3 game road trip takes them about an hour down the road to Wake Forest for what will be one of the toughest games of the season. As the Duke Basketball Roundup crew explains, Wake is a good team on the road but a truly great team at home, raining 3-pointers down on opponents. The Demon Deacons are undefeated in Winston-Salem this season and they are in desperate need of an attention-getting win... and Duke is just the opportunity they want. The Duke Blue Devils destroyed the Miami Hurricanes on the road Wednesday night, and Jason and Donald jump on soon after the game to recap all the fun on Episode 598! Duke fans can exhale as the Blue Devils defeated the Clemson Tigers 72-71 yesterday in Cameron. We recap that thriller and preview their next game against Virginia Tech on Episode 587. Scott Rich joins Donald to discuss the Clemson win that came down to two ice cold free throws by Tyrese Proctor at the very end. He wasn’t the only person that had good performances. Jared McCain’s 20 points and 3 huge steals was a central focus, and Mark Mitchell once again had a really good game. The team defense was what kept Duke in it and ultimately helped them to the win. We also talk about the struggles in this game, from rebounding to Kyle Filipowski on offense. Overall, the team didn’t make things easy on themselves on offense, but they were able to battle and walk out of Cameron with an important ACC victory. Duke traditionally does not play well at Cassell Coliseum, and Virginia Tech is one of the best teams in the ACC on offense. With the Clemson Tigers coming to town to play the Duke Blue Devils on Saturday, Donald is joined by Scott Rich to help preview the game on Episode 586! Clemson started out the season hot, but since the calendar turned to 2024, they have been ice cold. The Duke Blue Devils rebound with an 83-69 victory over the Louisville Cardinals, and we welcome JJ Jackson from the Locked On Blue Devils Podcast to break down the win on Episode 585. Jason’s still off high fiving penguins, so JJ joins Donald to recap the win over Louisville in what had some very good performances and still involved some frustrating moments. Jeremy Roach and Mark Mitchell returned, but Roach injured his ankle in this one and was limited in action as a result. We’re back after the Christmas holiday to recap a couple of big Duke Football wins as well as the future of the ACC on Episode 573!
