S1 Ep 315315. HEAD NOISE: Lost in my 20s, Thriving in Chaos, Dating When you Still Have Feelings for your Ex.
EThis is my HEAD NOISE episode where you send in your questions and I answer them! In this episode you’ve asked for my advice on these questions. I'm in my 20s and feel unsure of my direction and purpose. Why do many of us in our 20s experience such feelings of uncertainty? My relationship with my ex-husband has left my in a flight or fight mode. I can feel myself finding myself again and all I crave is peace. I have an amazing new partner who is very patient and understanding HOWEVER because of my previous relationship I learned how to THRIVE during chaos and difficulty and now that my life is settling into a normal and more calm space. You’d think life is perfect but my partner has started to point out that I start fights for no reason or say mean things for no reason whatsoever. I know I’m doing it because it was how I survived in the chaos, so how do I thrive now that I’ve found my peace? What are your thoughts on dating when you STILL have feelings for your ex? S1 Ep 312312. HEAD NOISE: A Complicated Sister-In-Law, A BF following Sexy IG Accounts, Drug Abuse in a Relationship
ELet's get into HEAD NOISE where I answer your questions about friendship, work, love, relationships, you name it! If you want your question answered you can email me at [email protected] . My sister-in-law and I have a complicated relationship. I believe she is abusive toward my brother and has told him that I am the one making things difficult. Is the only way forward to cut my brother, who is my best friend, out of my life completely? Is there another way forward? My boyfriend has been liking provocative photos of other women online, from barely clothed photos to twerking videos. We are in a long distance relationship and I had expressed that I wasn’t comfortable doing this, and then he stopped. However I can’t get over the fact that he was doing it in the first place. What should I do? Since COVID my boyfriend started smoking w33d everyday, suffered burnout 7 months ago and stopped going to work. I’m losing my patience with him, have tried to talk to him, and he wants to stop this behaviour but he doesn’t. How do I support him while not forgetting about myself. S1 Ep 309309. HEAD NOISE: Retroactive Jealousy, STD Shame in Relationships, Attachment Styles and Crushes
Let’s get into HEAD NOISE where I answer your questions about life, love, friendship, and all the fun messy things that make being alive so lit. 1) My partner and I are great, and then every now and then they snap when talking about or learning about my past dating history. My dating history isn’t anything wild, and I can’t control that I’ve been with other people, so how do I deal with their reaction to the fact that they’re not my first and only love? 2) My partner has genital herpes, and has been upfront with me about this. We communicated about expectations in our physical relationship, and how I could most be comfortable and feel protected at the same time. We are now a little further into our relationship and he has started saying things like if I want this relationship to continue I need to stop making him feel so bad about having herpes, that I make him feel dirty and ruin his self confidence because of the precautions I’ve put in place during sex to keep myself at less risk of contracting HSV. 3) My therapist says I am anxiously attached from a past trauma. I was wondering if you could talk me through limerence vs love, because my anxiety around dating RECCOMENDATIONS: Listen to my episode all about retroactive jealousy – Ep 109 ‘Retroactive Jealousy and Overthinking’ at https://pod.fo/e/1f82f3 . S1 Ep 306306. HEAD NOISE: Falling out of Love, and Taking a Leap to Live an Unconventional Life
ELet’s get into HEAD NOISE where I answer your questions about life, love, friendship, and all the fun messy things that make being alive so lit. My partner isn't toxic, but I don’t feel like we’re the right people for each other any more. We can barely communicate properly to each other, he doesn’t meet my needs, and I feel like we just don’t love each other any more. Am I just stuck in a rut, or should I call it quits? I'm a self-described “hopeless dreamer”. I grew up admiring Youtubers and content creators and their unconventional lives. I feel like living a conventional life is just not fulfilling me – but is this FOMO? Should I follow my heart and intuition that my life is a bit ordinary and do something out of the box, or am I deluding myself. S1 Ep 297297. HEAD NOISE: A Not-So-Ex-Wife, Texting Boundaries and Anxious Attachments
EFOR 2024 I'm rebranding the Listener Question segment of the pod to be HEAD NOISE! Same content idea but with a new name. SO – in this first episode of Head Noise for 2024 I’m answering these three questions 1) Should I contact the ex-wife of a man who I was seeing but then suddenly ghosted be after he found out his ex-wife knew we were seeing each other. 2) I text my new partner all the time, at least daily, but they don’t reply to me very often. After listening to your episode with Sabrina Zohar I've been reflecting that maybe I’m anxiously attached. My partner says that I am overreacting by explaining that I’m not feeling like a priority when they take ages to reply to me or don’t incorporate me into their plans. How do I communicate to my partner that this is important to me, or am I letting him railroad me and it’s part of a bigger picture? 3) My anxious attachment style is getting in the way of my relationship with my introverted partner. I’m feeling like a burden because of my hyper fixation on his feeling and me being so hypervigilant and afraid of being abandoned by him. What can I do? S1 Ep 295295. The Neuroscience of Antidepressants Pt 1. Drugs based around the monoamine hypothesis
There’s a lot of talk about the monoamine hypothesis of Depression, which is the theory that a reduced level of serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine in the central nervous system is what causes symptoms of depression, but is it the cause? In this episode we’ll find out what the evidence is, and what treatments work based on that hypothesis, and how they relate to the drugs that are currently on the market to treat symptoms of Depression. In the next episode we'll go into more detail about the glutamatergic system and how these drugs interact with the brain, and potentially new treatments that could potentially reverse the negative side effects of some of the existing treatments.
