Before graduating, in 1996, from Southern Illinois School of Dental Medicine, Rich Bailey had already become an entrepreneur selling his wildly successful Billy-Bob Teeth, which he invented while sitting in denture class. These novelty chompers brought laughter to millions and spawned a new global market. Rich has also enjoyed serving as a small town dentist in North Idaho. It was during this time that he recognized the incredible and largely unmet dental needs of senior citizens in long-term care facilities. Les completed a BSc (Hon) & DDS at Western followed by a GPR at the London Health Sciences Centre. He maintained a full-time solo private practice with an emphasis on digital dentistry, prosthodontics and medical device research while continuing hospital privileges at Strathroy-Middlesex General. His research was supported by the Scientific Research and Experimental Development Fund and the National Research Council. In 2011, Kalman transitioned to full-time academics as an assistant professor and outreach coordinator. Kalman's research focuses on medical devices & technologies relevant to clinical dentistry. He has authored close to 40 articles, holds two patents and has translated two technologies. Kalman maintains his position as the founder and President of Research Driven. He is an active member of the Academy of Osseointegration, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, the Standards Council of Canada and serves on the Board of Directors for the University of Western Ontario Faculty Association and the Canadian Association of Public Health Dentistry. Dr. Stephen Hsu, a tenured professor of Oral Biology and Diagnostic Sciences at the Dental College of Georgia, is a world-renowned expert in green tea polyphenol research and inventor of green tea technology-derived products and medications, which treat dry mouth, dandruff, hair loss, cold sores, and viral infections with natural ingredients. Dr. Hsu was awarded a number of patents on novel technologies targeting autoimmune diseases, herpes simplex virus, virus-induced infections, and salivary dysfunction (xerostomia or dry mouth). Dr. Hsu joined the Augusta University, formerly the Medical College of Georgia, in 1999 and serves as Course Director for Nutrition and Course Director for Biochemistry in the Department of Oral Biology and Diagnostic Sciences. Dr. Hsu has joint appointments in the Institute of Molecular Medicine and Genetics and the Graduate School. He is a former President of the Georgia chapter of the American Association for Dental Research and a member of the American Association for Cancer Research and the International Association for Dental Research. He has published more than seventy research articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals, eight books or book chapters, and has presented his research findings at scientific meetings worldwide, as well as lectured for CE courses to dentists, dental hygienists, and pharmacists. He has served as reviewer of grant applications for the National Institutes of Health (NIH), U.S. Department of Defense (DOD), the National University of Singapore, and for numerous scientific journals. Dr. Hsu's research has been funded by the NIH and the U.S. Department of Defense, IADR, Georgia Research Alliance (GRA), among other organizations. Dr. Hsu has collaborated with researchers representing the fields of oral biology/maxillofacial pathology, dermatology, virology, and molecular biology from Universities in the US, China, and Japan. He and his wife, Tracy, live in Evans, Georgia with their sons, Alexander and Andrew.

In three words Dr. Safarian is hard working, persistent and a lifelong learner. He lived in the San Diego area for nearly 30 years when he started 3 dental practices from scratch. Since graduating for Tufts School of Dental Medicine in Boston 2001 Dr. Safarian has taken many continuing education courses, receiving training in cosmetic dentistry, TMJ and orthodontic treatments. Running his own practices has taught him a great deal about customer service and marketing, and his inspiring success prompted him to start 7 Figure Dental Practice in order to assist other dental practitioners in achieving their own business dreams. Dr. Hobbs is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and has over 25 years of dental and periodontal experience. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland in College Park and went on to receive her DDS from the University of Maryland Dental School, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Dr. Hobbs completed her General Practice Residency at York Hospital in York, Pennsylvania and was the Chief Resident the following year at Carolina's Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. Dr. Hobbs worked as general dentist in Charlotte for a year before deciding to specialize in Periodontics. She has been an Assistant Professor at UNC school of Dentistry Post- Graduate Periodontology Department since 1997 and she rose through the ranks of the North Carolina Society of Periodontist serving as President in 2014. Laurie Rowland is a dental hygienist and educator with 20 years of experience. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and her Master of Science Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. In 1999, she received her Dental Hygiene license after graduating from the Blinn College Dental Hygiene Program in Bryan, Texas. She is now a professor at Blinn College, serving as Clinic Coordinator and teaching Pre-Clinical Dental Hygiene, Dental Hygiene Care, and Dental Hygiene Practice.

John has been in the dental software business for over 26 years. With a background in engineering and an MBA degree, he spent years in sales and marketing with several computer hardware and software companies. Dr. Shiffman is in general practice at the Laser Dental Center in Boynton Beach, Florida. Dr. David W. Epstein is a retired Pediatric Dentist residing in Bloomfield, CT. He attended the University of Wisconsin on a scholarship in Metallurgical Engineering. He received a degree in Mathematics in 1964, followed by a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1968 and a Master's Degree in Pediatric Dentistry in 1970 all from Indiana University. In 1970, he joined the original Dental School Faculty at the University of Connecticut Health Center and taught until 1988. He began his private practice in 1972 in West Hartford, Connecticut and the practice has grown into a group practice consisting of five Pediatric Dentists and two Orthodontists. He is proud that his repacement upon his retirement was one of his former patients. For more than 45 years, the primary focus of his practice was preventive care with an emphasis on active child and parent participation. After listening to many negative comments about the taste of dental products being used, Dr. Epstein researched the idea of developing both a new prophy paste and fluoride varnish with delicious flavors and superior properties. Dr. Kevin Frawley, D.D.S. is a committed dental professional and teacher helping his patients create the smile they were meant to have. Dr. Russell Kirk was born in Union City, Tennessee, and lived in West Tennessee throughout his childhood. After graduating from Obion County Central High School in 1985, he completed his undergraduate training at The University of Tennessee-Martin in 1990. Dr. Kirk attended The University of Tennessee College of Dentistry and graduated with honors in 1994. Immediately upon completion of dental school, Dr. Kirk accepted a commission as a dental officer in the United States Navy. He became interested in the Naval Services after being awarded a Health Professions Scholarship his last year of dental school. During his senior year, he was also selected by the Navy to participate in a one year post graduate residency in general dentistry. Dr. Kirk received his Certificate for General Practice Residency from Naval Hospital Great Lakes in 1995. After completing his Navy residency, Dr. Kirk served as the Dental Officer and Department Head for Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Four Zero (NMCB 40). During his tour with the Seabees, he was based out of Port Hueneme, California, and completed deployments to Guam, Spain and Bosnia. He completed his active duty obligation in 1997. Upon leaving active duty, Dr. Kirk was selected as one of two dentists for advanced training in anesthesia at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Kirk completed his Fellowship in Anesthesia and Critical Care Medicine from Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1998. Advanced postgraduate training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery was obtained at the University of Tennessee Memphis and Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Kirk received his certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in June of 2002. Dr. Kirk began practicing in Lebanon, Tennessee, July 2002. In 2005, Dr. Kirk was mobilized to active duty. He closed his private practice to serve as the staff Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at the United States Military Hospital Kuwait in conjunction with Expeditionary Medical Facility Dallas. He returned home and re-opened his practice in March of 2006. He opened a second office in Mount Juliet in 2007. Plans for renovations to this facility are underway. While maintaining his schedule at the office, Dr. Kirk remains very active in the United States Navy Reserve. Dr. Kirk was promoted to the rank of Captain in June 2013. He is currently the Senior Executive for Expeditionary Medical Facility Great Lakes One. Dr. Kirk also remains active in hospital, dental and civic activities in the surrounding community. He is an active member of the American Dental Association, Tennessee Dental Association, Nashville Dental Society, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Tennessee Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and Diplomate of American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. Dr. Kirk is married to Dr. Ann-Marie Sutherland. They have two daughters, Presley-Kate and Harper-Grace, and one son, Brennan James. His hobbies include training in Krav Maga and Brazilian Jiu Jistsu.

Nathaniel Lawson completed a DMD/PhD program in the field of dental materials at the University of Alabama under the mentorship of John Burgess. After a stint in private practice, he returned to UAB in 2014 to teach and perform clinical and laboratory testing of dental materials. In 2016, he became the Director of the Division of Biomaterials and the program director of the Biomaterials Residency program at UAB. He performs research for most of the major dental manufacturers to test the properties of new dental materials both in the laboratory and in the clinic. He has written over 150 published journal articles, textbook chapters, and abstracts. He serves on the editorial board of Compendium, Dental Products Review, and the Journal of Adhesive Dentistry and was recently elected to the ADA Council of Scientific Affairs. He was the 2017 recipient of the 3M Innovative Researcher Award and the 2016 Stanford New Investigator Award, both from the ADA. He lectures nationally and internationally on the topics of dental ceramics and direct restorative materials. He works as general dentist in the UAB Faculty Practice.
