Dennis Ferrer - Mind Ur Step (Sam Divine Extended Remix)

To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Defected Records presents a series of extra special collaborative releases Together, integrating talent from the label’s storied past and the stars of its future as one of Dennis Ferrer’s Defected standouts, ‘Mind Your Step’, receives a remix from label champion Sam Divine. Featuring American singer-songwriter Janelle Kroll, the 2013 original signposted a notable resurgence for deep house at that time, then receiving remixes from Nick Curly and André Hommen. Over a decade later, ‘Mind Your Step’ remains a record box staple, now receiving an update from Sam Divine. The DJ, producer and broadcaster’s relationship with the label is stronger than ever in 2024, playing for Defected at Ushuaïa Ibiza, Glastonbury, and flagship festivals in Croatia and Malta - also releasing a string of singles like her previous Together series release ‘Cruel Intentions’ with Hannah Wants and Jem Cooke, and ‘Saved By The Record’ with Josh Barry. Sam’s remix of ‘Mind Your Step’ takes the addictive, synthy goodness of the original and ups the tempo,

Camelphat Feat. Elderbrook - Cola (Tutara Peak Remix)

CamelPhat and Elderbrook’s definitive Defected smash ‘Cola’ receives a remix from emerging producer Tutara Peak. A strikingly modern and essential house record signed by now Defected CEO and co-owner Wez Saunders, CamelPhat’s ‘Cola’ roared to the top of dance charts globally, changing the landscape of club culture with its hypnotic and subversive lyrics before receiving a nomination for Best Dance Recording at the 2018 GRAMMY Awards. Hailing from Southwest England, the artistic Tutara Peak adds a thoughtful, ambient touch underneath Elderbrook’s recognisable vocal, before glitchy, metallic production accents crash into the record with verve – creating an expansive and inventive remix of ‘Cola’ unlike any other.

Have My Back (Sam Divine Extended Remix)

Defected is proud to unveil a highly anticipated project from the mind of singular artist SeeMeNot, titled ‘LEADER: Giving Them Their Flowers’. The collection represents the hymns and praises of women, sharing lyrics written by SeeMeNot over productions from some of SeeMeNot’s favourite electronic artists in recent years. A melting pot of deep house, melodic house and techno overlaid by a sheet of jazz, soul and hip-hop sonics, this mixtape is an homage to women of the BIPOC community and their everlasting strength, wisdom, methodology and a celebration of their liberation. As the sophomore project to SeeMeNot’s first mixtape ‘LONG OVERDUE: The Sound Of A Revolution’ - where a chronological diary of the evolution of slavery to abolition was the thread - LEADER features a more diverse application of harmonies and fixational genres woven into a story for the ages, in celebration of women and their contribution to the very rare parts of humanity we have left. Among its explorative tracklist, ‘LEADER: Giving Them Their Flowers’ platforms the deep recitations of artist/poet Aminata over music from Eli Escobar on ‘Gene/Sis (Intro)’, followed by a call to arms from writer/designer Fanny Vannier with production from Aaaron on ‘Mother Reign’. Defected stalwart Sam Divine also steps up to remix the focus track, ‘Have My Back’, adding her signature club-focused sound to the evocative production from Ivory (IT). These ladies are friends and sisters in arms; the conviction of women coming together and taking on roles as LEADERS, is essential to winning the war.

Multi-disciplinary collective YOURS return to Defected with ‘LOVE MIGHT MAKE ME BETTER’, their fourth original single with the London label. Following their striking label debut last year, ‘DÓNDE ESTÁ’, the group have impressed top selectors globally with their fresh and diverse house sound, including Folamour, Groove Armada, Nic Fanciulli and Sian Eleri to name a small few. With further releases ‘DON’T KNOW WHERE I’M GOING’ and previous label outing ‘OUR LOVE (80’S)’, the group continued to showcase their arresting sonic and visual style, with the latter also receiving a remix from Spanish selector and Defected label mate David Penn. ‘LOVE MIGHT MAKE ME BETTER’ presents the YOURS signature sound with added groove; Maverick Sabre’s unmistakeable vocals add a laid-back cool to New Machine’s contemporary production style, making for a perfect addition to their expansive DJ sets headed by Sonny Hall aka SÓLLER plus creative direction from the mind of Jake Hall set to take the YOURS collective higher than ever before.

Candi Staton - Hallelujah Anyway (Larse VIP)

To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Defected Records presents a series of extra special collaborative releases Together, integrating talent from the label’s storied past and the stars of its future as Candi Staton’s seminal classic ‘Halleliujah Anyway’ receives two new remixes from Larse and Jnr SA. An international icon of dance music, American singer-songwriter Candi Staton first released ‘Hallelujah Anyway’ in the early 2000s, with the gospel anthem rapidly becoming a dancefloor must-have thanks to remixes from revered house artists like Moplen, Dr Packer, David Penn, Ashley Beedle and the late Frankie Knuckles alongside Eric Kupper. The record continues to inspire dancefloors today, now receiving an update from acclaimed DJ, producer and longstanding friend of Defected, Larse. Hailing from Germany, Larse captured the attention of house heads globally with his 2012 remix of this record, a landmark release for Defected that established the producer as an international tour de force; his new version of ‘Hallelujah Anyway’ again enriches the innate spirituality of Candi Staton’s soulful music, melding with his signature groove for an unforgettable outing of gospel house. Also putting his unique stamp on the record, the influential Jnr SA has worked with major players of South Africa’s vibrant Afro house scene; his take on ‘Hallelujah Anyway’ brings with it a reverence for his formative years in the church, combined with an electronic knowledge well beyond his years.

As more releases are revealed, the DJ and producer continues to lift up those he works with, which now includes African genre-fluid producer and singer-songwriter Una Rams. From his upbringing in the musically rich province of Limpopo, South Africa, to releasing with the legendary Black Coffee on ‘Flava’, Una Ram’s creativity knows no bounds as he brings his global sound to the world stage with ‘Go Deeper’. Ferreck Dawn & GUZ - Friends Around (Set It Off)

Two Dutch powerhouses Ferreck Dawn and GUZ team up for ‘Friends Around (Set It Off)’ on Defected Records. A welcome addition at many of the label’s seminal parties, Ferreck’s hard-hitting sound has taken him from Defected’s iconic NYE party at Wembley’s OVO Arena, to Miami Music Week and now their newly launched Ushuaïa Ibiza residency for summer 2024. Having built this incredible relationship with the London label thanks to a string of standout releases, most recently including a club remix of his collaboration with MEDUZA and Clementine Douglas, ‘I Got Nothing’, Ferreck Dawn returns alongside GUZ for ‘Friends Around (Set It Off)’. Also no stranger to the Defected family, GUZ’s recent DFTD release with Deeper Purpose and Dope Earth Alien ‘That Sound’ saw the chart-topping producer bring his malleable, club-ready sound to the masses after hit releases ‘Set U Free’ and ‘Thin Line’. Their latest outing showcases two producers who thrive on collaboration, with ‘Friends Around (Set It Off)’ spotlighting a massive, addictive vocal and bold synth instrumentation to create an instant summer classic.

Intruder (A Murk Production) + Jei - Amame (Dunmore Brothers Remix)

To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Defected Records continues its series of extra special collaborative releases Together, integrating talent from the label's storied past and the stars of its future across an array of original productions and remixes. Originally released in 2011, ‘Amame’ was supported by the likes of Kerri Chandler, Dennis Ferrer and Seth Troxler, with even Ricardo Villalobos ensuring that all those loitering around the booths of DC10’s closing party and fabric’s birthday of that year were enquiring of its story. Produced by Oscar G and Ralph Falcon under the guise of Intruder, its breadth of appeal has continued long into the 2020s, with two future stars now remixing the classic. Up first, following releases on Snatch!, Kaluki and Saved, Dunmore Brothers add a modern tech house spin on the original, maintaining the irresistible appeal of the vocal hook while offering a darker alternative to the original. Up next, Fleur Shore ups the tempo considerably, as hypnotic percussion loops and a full-throttle bassline make for an expertly executed peak time energy remix.

YOURS - OUR LOVE (80'S) (David Penn Extended Remix)

Coming as their third original single on Defected Records, the need-to-know, multi-disciplinary collective YOURS (comprised of Maverick Sabre, New Machine, Jake Hall and SOLLÉR) released ‘OUR LOVE (80’S)’ in March 2024. Another striking example of the group’s genre-defying, refined sound, the starry-eyed original now receives a remix from Defected label mate David Penn. An artist who needs little introduction to fans of the label, his signature piano-laced sound brings an added layer of club appeal to YOURS’ sparkling original. Maintaining Maverick’s unmistakable vocal, the remix drips in Penn-isms, as a bassline with buckets full of bounce, tasteful builds and of course the signature keys make this an unmissable addition to YOURS’ growing catalogue.

Stefan Braatz - One More Dream

Berlin underground authority Stefan Braatz returns to Nu Groove with a four-track EP showcasing his timeless sound – Outlaw. An established club DJ and producer who has donned many hats in his 30-year career, Stefan Braatz is known for his expansive knowledge that defies genre convention, with his previous Nu Groove collaboration ‘Everyman Jack’ featuring Chicago legends Virgo Four combining his respect for the old school with new school techniques. Opening the EP is the eponymous track ‘Outlaw’, featuring vocals from Chicago house pioneer Harry Dennis – a contemporary of Ron Hardy, the late Frankie Knuckles and a member of Jungle Wonz alongside Marshall Jefferson. As Braatz’s relentless synth energy powers through, Dennis’s unmistakeable free flow guides the composition with ease. What follows are three solo tracks that summarise the Berlin expert’s opposition to the genre restraints; ‘Conversation’ opens a dialogue between synth strings and piano that loops in ecstasy, while ‘Dingy Thoughts’ and ‘One More Dream’ are darker club cuts that bubble with intensity in the lower registers.

Nick Curly - 'You' (Extended Mix)

A DJ, producer and music mogul who has defined the sound of the underground for well over ten years, Nick Curly returns to Defected with the effortlessly modern ‘You’. Since his international breakthrough in 2008, Nick Curly quickly established himself as a titan of house music with a unique production style that came to be known as the ‘Mannheim’ sound; a deep, loop-based tech house style which earned him a spot on Defected’s hallowed In The House series in 2014. Featuring a mix of deep, emotive house and techno, the compilation cemented the burgeoning relationship between Curly and Defected as one for the ages, now maintaining his own imprint 8Bit, Cécille Records alongside Mark Scholl, and party brand Trust, ultimately proving that there is nothing that Curly can’t do. In 2024, the Ibiza favourite is set to dominate the season once again, including a highly anticipated appearance at Defected’s Ushuaïa Ibiza residency equipped with his latest release ‘You’. Combining Curly’s extensive knowledge of electronic music, including hypnotic house, tech and minimal, with expert production techniques building tension and release, ‘You’ and its deliciously wonky bassline is all set to soundtrack 2024 and beyond.

Johnny Corporate - Sunday Shoutin' (TSHA Remix)

To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Defected Records presents a series of extra special collaborative releases Together, integrating talent from the label’s storied past and the stars of its future, as a seminal record from the Defected catalogue, Johnny Corporate’s ‘Sunday Shoutin’’, receives a remix from London-born multi-instrumentalist and house maverick TSHA. The legacy of the definitive underground house track ‘Sunday Shoutin’’ is vastly documented, with its unmistakeable saxophone loop still heard at clubs approaching 25 years later. Having already received remixes from the likes of Sonny Fodera, Harry Romero and Dr Packer, TSHA now joins the pantheon of house greats by delivering a transformative remix, cementing her status as one of electronic music’s most exciting innovators. After earning numerous Breakthrough Act awards in her early career to gracing the covers of Mixmag and DJ Mag, including features in Billboard, NME, Crack, Billboard, The Observer, and more, TSHA’s immense, international touring schedule continues to attract global crowds who come in droves for her flourishing sound, as heard in her long-awaited debut album ‘Capricorn Sun’ on Ninja Tune in 2023. Her highly anticipated remix of ‘Sunday Shoutin’’, recently teased in her Defected In The House! Ibiza stream which relaunched the iconic series, continues to showcase the fresh and bold sound of TSHA. Johnny Corporate’s original and explicit saxophone loop is initially swapped out for a brazen key-led take on the underground classic, set to dominate the scene for years to come.

SeeMeNot x Aaaron ‘Together, Pt. I’

An authentic and unique artist, SeeMeNot returns to Defected with her first original Defected release ‘Together’, following remixes from Jamie Jones, Deetron and Roman Flügel for her hypnotic label debut ‘Borderline’ in 2022. Initially spotlighted as one to watch by DJ Mag and Beatportal, the Jamaican-Canadian artist and storyteller’s innate lyricism is apparent with her releases incorporating jazz, soul and hip-hop influences alongside the anonymous artist’s ethereal vocals, creating unforgettable deep house and techno compositions that pay homage to the strength, wisdom and methodology of Black and Brown women who have gone before her. Now SeeMeNot unveils the much anticipated ‘Together Part I’, produced by Berlin underground talent Aaaron, an electronic artist who first made waves on the London label with early DFTD EPs ‘Feelin This’ and ‘What Makes You Itch’. SeeMeNot’s powerful and soulful vocals permeate ‘Together Part I’, as the two producers create an understated record that builds to a blinding climax thanks to a masterful variety of synth design and percussive ingenuity. What follows is ‘Together Part II’, with Kitty Amor delivering her inimitable brand of Afro house excellence that has culminated in the launch of her imprint Mahaba Music, features in Resident Advisor, Mixmag and DJ Mag, and support from genre champions Themba, Kid Fonque and DJEFF. With ‘Together Part I’ being the first release from her upcoming mixtape, expect big things from SeeMeNot and Defected in the near future.
