Jury selection continues Alex Murdaugh murder trial with opening statements expected later in the day. Over the past two days, motions have been filed by the defense asking the judge to not allow some evidence be presented, including ballistics and some of the state's expert witness testimony. The judge ruled that a ballistics expert, a SLED agent, was credible. Another point of contention, blood spatter evidence. The defense says the white t-shirt worn by Murdaugh, which the state says has blood spatter on it, has been damaged by testing so that defense experts cannot conduct their own tests. Both prosecutors and the defense agreed not to bring up the blood spatter evidence during opening arguments. Before the start of jury selection in the murder trial of former Lowcountry attorney Alex Murdaugh, his defense team had already filed a motion seeking to block testimony on potential blood evidence. Jury selection continues in Alex Murdaugh's murder trial. He's accused of shooting his wife, Maggie, and youngest son, Paul. More than 900 potential jurors were called and then divided up into panels. 32 jurors qualified from the first group. After the other groups are polled, the actual jurors and alternates would be selected from the parred-down pool. Blood spatter evidence is also being discussed by the lawyers and the judge. Defense attorneys have filed a motion to block testimony on potential blood evidence. Murdaugh was wearing a white t-shirt when he arrived at the property. Murdaugh’s defense team argues that their expert, after reviewing a report and analysis from a prosecution witness, said he could not form an opinion on whether the blood stains on Murdaugh’s shirt were consistent with back spatter from a gunshot. Actor Alec Baldwin has been charged with involuntary manslaughter by New Mexico prosecutors related to the death of in connection with cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. The shooting on set during the production of the film, "Rust." Baldwin was allegedly four feet from the crew on set in a mock church pew when he used his right hand to reach across his body to grab the gun holstered on his left side. He was reportedly aiming the gun toward cinematographer Halyna Hutchins when he drew back the hammer and released it. The bullet first went through director Joel Souza’s shoulder before striking Hutchins in the chest, killing her. Armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed is also charged. Reed is facing criminal charges for allegedly loading the gun before handing it off to an assistant director, who then gave the gun to Baldwin before rehearsal. Reports indicate crew members used the gun on the day of the shooting for target practice — and had used live rounds to shoot at beer cans to pass time on set. The McConney family decides to take a Christmas vacation. It was a welcome break after the troubling situation the family found themselves in. Weeks before Christmas, Heather McConney opened her son’s phone, stumbling on disturbing conversations. 13-year-old Evan McConney had been communicating with a stranger through the online game Roblox. The two also reportedly communicated through Oculus, a virtual reality device. The parents then made all the right steps. They took away Evans’ devices and turned them over to Layton police. The McConney family returned home from vacation on Monday. When the family woke up, Tuesday morning Evan was gone. An investigation revealed Evan McConney and his online “friend” had been exchanging “sexual and inappropriate” messages for about three weeks. While Evan’s mom had taken steps to end the contact, the two reportedly found new ways to talk. Evan McConney joined a Discord chat at his new friend’s invitation. It was through those chats that the two allegedly arranged to have McConney picked up from his home. Evan even took his passport with him, after his new friend encouraged him. The "friend" is Aaron Zemen...a 26-year-old man, living in Arizona. Zemen has several social media accounts revealing his admitted dog fetish and that he is a furry. A furry is a person who is an enthusiast for animal characters with human characteristics. Many of Zeman’s Twitter accounts are dedicated to his furry and puppy play fetish and contain photographs of his genitals and dog fetish clothing. Zeman had been using these accounts to tweet the 13-year-old. Newly-released documents outline what police were looking for in Bryan Kohberger's apartment and what was found. The search warrant affidavit was initially sealed but was unsealed by a Washington state judge. According to court documents, investigators found a “collection of dark red” spotting on an item inside Kohberger’s Steptoe Village apartment, along with a pillow with a “reddish/brown stain” on it. Strands of hair, human as well as a possible animal strand, were found. A glove, computer and mattress covers were also removed. What wasn't found... was a knife, the murder weapon. Disturbing posts credited to Bryan Kohberger have been revealed. An investigation by the New York Times of the accused killer's social posts uncovers chilling comments he made as a teenager about his mental health. In one 2011 post, a then 17-year-old Kohberger wrote on the a forum for people with a condition called "Visual Snow." "Am I the only one who experiences depression, crazy thoughts, no emotion, delusions of grandeur?" he reportedly wrote. Kohberger also writes that he felt that he can "do whatever I want with little remorse." The search continues for Ana Walshe. The young mom of three was supposed to have commuted to Washington, D.C., for her new job. Walshe works in real estate. She never made it. In fact, it appears she never even got on the flight. Her husband, Brian Walshe, reported her missing three days after Ana Walshe's boss filed a missing persons report. Police searched the family home and found blood and tools in the basement. Brian Walshe, who was already wearing an ankle monitor after an arrest for art fraud, was arrested again and charged with hindering the police investigation. Police also found that Brian Walshe bought $450 of cleaning supplies from a nearby Home Depot store the day after Ana Walshe was supposed to be on the DC flight. Now late-breaking, Brian Walshe has now been charged with murder. The family of Randisha Love still looking for a killer more than six years after the body of the Georgia teen was found in her home. The last words Love said to her mother was, " I love you, Mommy" earlier that day. The teen girl was found lying in her own blood, shot, in the foyer of her home. Love, along with her mother, Katara Hamm, and three brothers, lived in College Park with Hamm's parents. The grandparents weren't home. They were out of town attending a funeral. Four University of Idaho students are brutally murdered in their home in Moscow, Idaho on November 13th, 2022. Austin Lee Edwards poses as a 17-year-old boy to talk online with a 15-year-old girl. He then drives across the country to her Riverside home when she stops responding. Edwards parks in a neighbor's driveway and goes inside the Winek home. Edwards kills the girl's mother and grandparents, sets the home on fire, and leaves with the girl. Now we learn that Edwards had groomed at least one other victim. He was stalking and pressuring the minor for nude photographs. The Los Angeles Times reports the now 21-year-old woman, who was not identified, was 13 years old when she met Edwards, then 20, on the online messaging platform Omegle. The woman provided the Times with more than 4,000 messages sent in the two-year period after the two began corresponding over Skype, reflecting a sexually and emotionally toxic conversation. “YO WHAT THE F**** I SAID I WANTED TITS WAITING ON ME WHEN I GOT BACK,” Edwards reportedly wrote in one message. The woman, then a tween, replied, “iM SORRY.” In 2016, as she began to pull away from him, Edwards began suggesting in video calls and text messages that he was hurting himself. Over one call, he showed her an injury that matched details of a police report around that time that ended with Edwards’ temporary detention in a psychiatric facility. The woman told the Times she’d only realized she had post-traumatic symptoms years after finally blocking Edwards. “He did a lot of damage to me,” she said. A neighbor calls police after noticing Edwards leading the girl, who "appeared distressed," into his car. Another neighbor also calls 911 after seeing flames coming from the home. When police arrive, Edwards and the girl are gone. Brooke, Sherie, and Mark Winek's bodies are found inside the home; Brooke Winek's other daughter is not home. Police get Edward's license plate from cameras in Winek's neighborhood and track him into the Mojave Desert. A helicopter spots the car and cops pursue Edwards, who fires at the officers. Edwards turns the gun on himself and crashes the car. The girl was unharmed during the kidnapping and is now in protective custody. What more evidence have the police collected from the Idaho home where four students were murdered that hasn't been released? Mattresses have been removed from the home, and police are continuing to track down the digital timeline of Bryan Kohberger's whereabouts at the time of the murders. Phone pings show that Kohberger was in the area of the home at least 12 times in the weeks before the murders, yet his phone was turned off during the suspected murder window. It was turned back on afterward. The Idaho State Lab is testing trash recovered from the Pennsylvania home of Kohberger's family. The lab "reported that a DNA profile obtained from the trash" matched a tan leather knife sheath found "laying on the bed" of one of the victims. Forensic experts will be looking at evidence collected at the scene for more DNA matches. The probable cause affidavit explaining why Brian Kohberger is the prime suspect in the murders of four Idaho students has been released. The documents contain some bombshell details, including the fact that one of the surviving roommates saw an intruder moments after the stabbings. According to the affidavit, the surviving roommates said everyone in the home was asleep by 4 a.m. on November 13, except for victim Xana Kernodle. She had made a food order through Doordash and had used TikTok at 4:12 a.m. One of the surviving roommates said they later heard a male voice say something like, “‘It’s ok, I’m going to help you.” That roommate claimed they opened their door to spot a man in a mask walking toward her. She claimed she did not know the man, who she described as being athletically built with bushy eyebrows. The suspect reportedly walked past the roommate and left the home through a sliding door. The roommate said she stood there in shock but eventually locked herself in her room. The affidavit also alleges that Kohberger's phone was in the area of the home more than 12 times before the November 13 slayings. According to the affidavit, Kohberger’s DNA was found on a knife sheath next to Maddie Mogen’s body. Cops reportedly acquired his DNA on December 27 by taking trash from his family’s home in Albrightsville, Pennsylvania. The trash sample was reportedly a 99.98 percent match to the DNA located at the crime scene. Accused killer Bryan Kohberger is back in Idaho after being extradited from Pennsylvania. Kohberger has also made his first appearance in an Idaho courtroom, and the probable cause affidavit in his arrest has been released. Bryan Kohberger, the suspect in the murders of four University of Idaho students, waived extradition from his home state of Pennsylvania. The 28-year-old will now be transported within the next ten days back to Idaho to face murder charges. Kohberger answered “no” when asked by the judge if he had any mental health issues that would get in the way of his responding during the extradition hearing and then signed the waiver. Police have been searching for a missing Mom and two teens from Springfield, Missouri, for twenty years. The Springfield Three are friends Suzanne Street, Stacy McCall, and Streeter's mother, Sherrill Levitt. The women went missing from Levitt's home. Fourty-eight days after the brutal stabbing, Bryan Kohberger, 28, was arrested early Friday morning over 2,500 miles away in Pennsylvania. Kohberger has been charged with first-degree murder and felony burglary. An extradition hearing is scheduled for Tuesday. Police answered few questions about what led up to Kohberger’s arrest, saying Idaho law requires the arrest affidavit be sealed until the suspect is “physically back in Latah County” and officially charged. In the meantime, Kohberger's academics are being picked apart. Kohberger graduated from Northampton Community College with an associate of arts degree in psychology. He received a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in criminal justice from DeSales University.
